This is what you want...
WTF V30/V30+/V30S Bootloader Unlock and Root
Read on web browser. Some forum apps truncate sections. PRINT it out, to have a hard copy, and to read several times.
It's not complicated, but you do have to follow each step. A lot of it is a decision tree... Is this? Yes, then do that. Or, no then go to next step.
If you try to skip to the middle, that's when you'll have a problem. You have to start from the beginning.

Yes. Every H933 owner that is rooted followed those instructions.
Actually, every LG V30/V30+/V30S on the planet that is rooted followed that procedure -- except for T-Mobile H932, which has to use different procedure. But everyone else uses this WTF method.

Like Chazz said, read this through FROM BEGINNING TO END. Then print it and have it handy for what you need. It's step-by-step, but if you miss a prior step it won't work.

Rooting AT&Ts X10a question

Ok guys and dolls...Let's get down to brass tacks!
Being as these phones are locked down, what would be the best way to get it rooted? I already have rooted my backflip, so command prompt is easy, along w using adb..
Secondly, I'm used to having super user access as an icon on my home screen, does the root method here also have the SU icon?

Read that one....and the basics of rooting this phone, but it doesn't touch the one click root method...which is why I started this one not to mention, that thread bounces all over the place....

You've asked exactly what they've asked haven't you, and lists both methods in the first post, and having posted on there myself know the one click method has been mentioned. And as it's only 2 pages long, it's not even got started so can hardly be described as "bounces all over the place".
What you need to decide is if you want to use an older FW as mentioned on the other thread.

require guidance

I want to root my optimus one (running 2.2.1) to remove some useless programs (preinstalled) that are eating up battery and memory.
I tried everything. some help and guidance would be much appreciated.
2.2.1 - cannot be Rooted. You have to downgrade via KDZ Updater. Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901247
thanks.
but i don't get how to downgrade. all it says in upgrade
Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875881
Be carefull ! If you don't follow all steps you can brick your device.
thanks a lot.
one last thing, will 2.2.1 be 'rootable' anytime soon?
I cannot tell you this because I don't know.
hmm...ok. thanks a lotfor your help.
btw can i upgrade to 2.3(once it comes) even after rooting the device?
Yes,
And please read the forum. It's very easy to brick your device if you don't know what you are doing.
Cheers
I also want to root my device but the instructions I read from one of the thread didn't work for me. I have FW V10e and trying to downgrade my unit to V10b to shift to CFW.
Can anyone give me a link for the link to download the KDZ for my country? I'm from the Philippines.
Thanks!
Here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944881
2.2.1 is rootable. You just can't do that in one click.
Tell us how to do that.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Sorry I haven't been helpful xD You just have to root manually (command line way), but I'm not sure since I haven't tried it myself.

[Q] New to Android - Need Advice (Rooting and Firmware)

Hi, I will be getting this phone today (i9100 unlocked) and have a couple of questions on how to proceed onwards. Any help would be greatly appreciated
1. What is the best firmware and rooted kernel for me to go on?
I want the absolute simpilest way to root my phone (total beginner) and I don't know what firmware I will have when I receive it, I also don't know if I should stay on a gingerbread firmware or go to ics? I also don't care if it is official or custom as long as I'm not sacraficing stability. If possible I would like a rom that is good for battery life. I also want to root my phone in the safest way. There are so many tutorials I didn't know where to start
2. What are some of the essential rooted apps and how do you install them? Through superuser or market?
3. What are the risks involved with a standard flashing/root because I'm getting my phone second hand I don't have warranty.
Thanks for all your help!
Edit: I just say a sticky saying not to ask what roms are the best so I'm sorry if I broke a rule. I just literally have no idea where to start, I've never even used android before. I've found so many methods of rooting and roms but most seem outdated. I would just like someone to point me in the right direction of the up to date way. Sorry if I'm really not supposed to ask!

Superuser is not used to install apps, you would either download them from the market or manually install the .apks

Rooting your phone would void the warranty anyway and bricking is probably your biggest risk.

Yes. There are dozens, if all you wanted me to do was provide a link to a more comprehensive guide, why don't you just learn how to use Google for yourself?

Most of these guides will contain everything you need to know to get started.

Believe me, I tried, but there are so many options, also, I've now decided to opt for a locked virgin i9100 bcause it was 50 bucks more for a new phone with the warranty, so what's the best way to unlock one? I think I recall a free app.

ROMs section is wrong place to post standalone questions. You should ask in the US998 Pie KDZ thread or Q&A
Going to request a mod move this.
You also need to clarify. You have typos and it's hard to understand what you're asking for. A debloated US998 KDZ?
You can debloat yourself by freezing with Titanium Backup.

Yes, Titanium Backup requires root.
Maybe a US998 Open Market KDZ firmware will soon be released without U.S. Cellular apps.

No one told you to use LGUP Chip Erase. We specifically tell people NOT to use that.
I have this specific warning (see attached screenshot) in all KDZ threads I maintain, as well as Frankenstein instructions.

Don't worry I know the risks and uncertainties that involved I'm not holding anyone responsible for it but it made me look at how to fix it in which I found so it in a roundabout sort of way enable a lesson on a fix which I found just now got to find out how to fix the s/n I know it's still there because it appears in other app's......because of the dyslexia I'm allway think outside of the box because I have issues with spelling and reading. And I apologise for that thing's may look unhinged.

Does anyone know how to fix broken download mode?
I tried to root my phone but I failed among the many steps. I just flashed US998 ROM on my V300L because it was in one of the steps. And I didn't unlock my bootloader so I can't install TWRP. I tried to revert back to V300L ROM with LGUP but it doesn't recognize my device. And on download mode screen it says
Unknown B78
Unknown / E / L / RO
Also, I was on Pie
And I didn't find any solution to this problem online.
UPDATE: It boots up to setup screen. But restarts after touching anything.

It's pretty clear what I wrote.
You're either...
1) not using Dev Patched LGUP at all (instead using regular LGUP),
2) not using the latest Dev Patched LGUP
or
3) you didn't read the installation instructions of latest Dev Patched LGUP and follow them.
Go to where I said to go,
download from there, and
install according to Instructions:

It's in every one of ChazzMatt's ROM threads as well as the Frankenstein and Root threads (in the ROM and Guide sections).
Don't get me wrong, but it is hard to imagine that you couldn't find it if you spent any time looking in those sections.
Edit: I'll post a link for you later today or tomorrow if you really can't find it. Please make an effort first.
Edit2: Since you didn't post back, I assume you must have found it. Otherwise the offer still stands.
Thank you for the kind offer

Hope I can do that as well... Just absolutely annoying that I got something working and then out of nowhere just because I updated to A9 it quit working out of the sudden. Like give me a break, I have enough issues already to sort out to figure out how to free it from the Tyranny of bull**** companies. I have a F800K... Hopefully I can get this working and flash it back to A7.
Okay I seem to get to the point where I am close to breaking my phone with a hammer. Like using so much time on getting something to work just wanted to try out A9 and now getting this issue... Like come on!
I need some help here.
I have the V20 F800K and I need to downgrade it for rooting, and now with A9 I can't seem to downgrade it.
Help needed... Sick and tired of this nonsense of wasting hours and hours on something that should be as easy as eating pie.

Help me, what applications and what did you do?
What version, which did you install first, and so forth. Should be somewhat of the same with my F800K
ChazzMatt you are absolutely no help to us newbies! Like I don't have enough problems, yea find it yourself sort of thing, has never been valuable in my book. That is not how you make people learn. While people are lead they learn, not like - figure it out yourself, that takes a lot longer then just giving a helping hand. I never understood people who have this idea, just figure it out yourself, its really not that hard... yea.... when you know it is not hard.
Like we don't already have 100 tabs open to listen and figure things out, in this grand mess of how to do it. Just load some more on people, and see people break.

I don't know why I'm bothering to reply as you don't seem to be a reasonable person, but I'll give it a shot anyway.
First off, if you can't handle search and finding info yourself, then you shouldn't hack your phone. We're not here to hand hold people for every little thing.
Secondly, we don't live on the forums, so posting your nonsense every few minutes is just going to aggravate people who could help you. Sometimes I will help people who are not able to find things themselves, but you're being very unreasonable so I have no desire to try.
Thirdly, you seem to be talking about a V20 phone... this is the V30 forum. If you can't find the right forum to post your question, you REALLY shouldn't try to use these tools. Yes, LGUP is probably cross platform in this sense, but again, I don't care to try.
Finally, you hijack a thread and then complain about the very people you want help from? Seriously?
Bottom line, this process is unofficial and tricky. We're not here to handhold you through the process any more than the referenced, excellent posts already do. You clearly cannot follow directions, can't search, and can't find well placed and very obvious threads (I know for a fact that WTF thread is at the TOP of the forum section, because I just saw it there). Yes, we want to help, but if you can't be bothered to make an effort, and then want to complain about everyone, then you're not going to find any help here... certainly none from me. Consider yourself blocked.

I did, but there is so much so I might have missed it. Had 3 or more tabs open on the subject trying to sort it out. I did sort it out, and I did try the dual file... Whatever the case I did not get it to work. But I did find another solution for my V20 F800K. I'll attach the files for anyone who needs it.
Install MSI first and then copy over the files in the folder pie! And you should be able to downgrade version 9 to version 7. Just tiering with all these files and this and that. This seems to do it for me overall, with whatever I wanna fix it with. A7 8 or 9
Anyway, I am moved to a lot of other issues having solved it. I seem to have rooted my phone yet, now I have a lot of other issues as I can't update to version 8 it seems now that I am rooted because of Google crazy.
