Water Damage/ F1 Wont charge when turned on - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Firstly I'd like to say that I stupidly dropped my phone in a bowel of water yesterday.
Following this ,I immediately turned the phone off, blew into the charging port to hopefully remove any water. and left it standing overnight. Then in the morning plugged it in to charge , which worked.
The following day (today) my phone will not charge when turned on, only charging when turned off.
I have tried multiple chargers, restarting the phone, holding the lock and volume button for 15 seconds and starting in fast boot mode, ect.
I am not sure what to do, possibly I need to get a new charging port and replace it myself, or with aid from a friend.
I cant find anything online regarding the issue with USB C phones, all of the instructions were for mini usb phones and they suggested bending the pins back into place in the phone, not sure if this s any help with USB C.
Should i leave the phone to stand in rice, over night, should I open it up and lightly apply a heat gun to it to evaporate any water in the phone, should I replace the charging port ?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, not sure if this is the right place to ask,
-side note, I dont need anyone telling me i'm an idiot for dropping the phone in water, I already know this to be true.

Hi Narayanan
Thanks for your response, I will try doing this tonight.
Regarding the ROM, I am not familiar with the process, Is there a way I can backup my Phone and system settings ect, and then do this.
How does one install their ROM again, is it simply a factory reset ?
I am a newbie to these things,
-Kind regards
-platypus

Thankfully I had twrp installed and had a latest firmware inside . So I reflashed my rom again .
You try factory reset . Hopefully it will work.

[Q] Galaxy S2 refuses to shut down.

I got a wierd problem. My galaxy S2 refuses to shut down.
When I shut the phone down without a USB cable connected then the phone turns black and the 'menu and 'return' button lights up then the phone vibrates. at this stage before the buttons turns black and the phone was totally shut down. now instead the buttons are still lit after the vibration and then the phone starts up again.
With a USB plugged in after the vibration when shutting down I get to the screen where the battery indicating charging is shown, but as soon i remove the USB cable the phone starts.
I got a youtube clip showing all this and I will update the post as soon the 'audio swap' is done.
The power button is not stuck.
It's not rooted:
Code:
Android version: 2.3.3
I9100XXKE7
2.6.35.7-I9100XWKF3-CL276555 root(at)DELL101 #2
GINGERBREAD.XWKF3
I cleared the cache in 3e recovery. No change.
I fully charged my battery. No change
I drained my battery to 0%. No change
I tried another battery. No change.
What's the deal? Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
I'm asking this in order to avoid sending the phone to service since it most likely will be gone for a couple of days. I will not try stuff involving rooting the phone since I need to have the option of sending it to service without them refusing the phone due to rooting.

The deal is as always step one backup your data and via recovery factory reset .
Saves the service centre doing just that and may fix the problem .

Hello,
Factory reset was one of the options I was trying to avoid. However I just performed a format/factory reset. And the problem is still there. When I shut down the phone restarts.
Also to add to the confusion the phone can also enter a state when I'm in the battery charging screen (Not booted phone) when a thermometer with a warning sign is pressent. However, I have waited for hours with the battery unplugged and everything is cold. That warning seams wierd to me and might be the root of all evil. That screen is pressent without a USB cable plugged in and that is also abnormal.
Any other options?
Thank you for helping.
/Anders.
I recorded the problem.
I cant post links in this forum due to:
"to prevent spam to the forums, ALL new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. After approximately eight posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thanks for understanding!"
but paste this search string to youtube
"galaxy refuses restart" and it's the top clip
alternatively add "/watch?v=eBB_3qtgj68" after the youtube url.
/Anders
Have you tried to hold down the Power button for 8 seconds? OR a battery pull for 10 minutes?
Regards.
yeah you should try and pull out the battery...
i had the same problem after I used the JIG on my phone.. it refused to shutdown, and kept rebooting it on each try to shutdown..
i pulled out the battery for awhile, and plugged it in and out to the charger..and it worked.
if it's still nagging you, try flashing a new kernel
Yes I tried pulling the battery and also used a battery from another S2 without any changes in the behaviour.
They talk about this problem at androidforums
androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2/377331-spurious-battery-temperature-warning.html
Seams like there is no known fix for this problem yet.
I turned in the phone to the local service center today. We'll see what they say.

Maybe your power button is faulty or stuck. Do you have a case? Is it somehow holding the button down after you release it?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Generally this is caused by a dirty or faulty USB port. Shorts on specific pins with specific resistances will cause different behaviors.
Try cleaning the port with a dry clean toothbrush. If that doesn't work, take out the battery, and try cleaning the USB port with a q-tip and a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Then let it dry before putting the battery back in.

I've already tried it and no luck. The technician told me that it is the USB Port problem sometimes also because of overcharging the phone. The USB Port can be fixed immediately but the problem is my SGS2 is a Korean S2. They told me that the port is different from the one's that they have here in the Philippines. Is it true?

Even i used to have these problems. Phone shows charging or usb cable connected for no reason out of the blue. Device wont simply shut down and would start up again.
What i did was perform a hard reset. Pull the battery out first and clean the usb port a lil bit. After some time it vanished

Until now, it's not happening to your S2 again? How did you clean the USB Port again?
Well nothin much...i just took a little cotton and cleaned whatever i can. And then i kept the phone off for about a day or two. And when i switched it back on voila the issue had disappeared
The only problem am facing now is the home button issue taking me to voice command. But then again i froze it with titanium backup. No issues after that

And yeah...been 8 months since i last encountered that problem. Another thing is i used to Yank the device out from the usb/charger cable when plugged in. Now i carefully remove it without much force. Maybe that helped too. Just saying

galaxy s2 will not charge and won't turn on after flashing with mobile odin, Help!

I was wondering if anyone can help, i tried flashing the new ics firmware with mobile odin last night, not the first time I've done this.
it got stuck in a boot loop but with just the Samsung logo, i left it overnight as it was late on and i left it on charge. When i checked it this morning the battery was dead and it now doesn't want to charge or turn on.
when you try and go into download mode it says low battery, is this phone now broken? is there anything i can do?
Did you do a full wipe in recovery?
no i didn't, and I regretted it afterwords
actually i think i may have done, i'm not too sure now.
should have sorted it last night whilst it still had charge
HEHE u just need a reflash , but... the battery completly discarged overnight.
just take a good battery from a friend with sgs2 or sgs , reflash and then charge u'r bat.. or simply charge yours somewhere.
The same happened to me yesterday when I tried to flash lpq. I took out the battery, connected to the charger, reinsterted the battery and turned on the phone then my phone would charge and I then used regular odin to flash.
thanks for all the help, guy i work with has an s2.
can't believe i didn't think to just swap the battery!
Just flashed LPQ with mobile odin too yesterday. No problems at all. Make sure you have the latest mobile odin and the file isn't corrupted

phone is up and running now, charging as i type this.
Possible fix, it worked for me..
So, after removing the battery I put it in the freezer. I have two so I figured i'd try this obscure method I found posted somewhere, I left it plugged into the charger without the battery. after 10 minutes or so in the freezer, i removed it took it out put it back in and it began charging, I powered up into CWM reset the battery stats, did a clean wipe of my current ROM, reinstalled the rom just to make sure it wasnt the rom doing it. and after powering on it was charged already to 5%
I have similar issue with my Galaxy S2 GT-I9100, Flashed with Odin could not turn off but still could switched on firmware was really slow so decided to flash to different had problem with welcome wizard so cleared cache and reset it in CWM, After that, phone were still working till battery get drained. Tried to charged it and turn on without any luck.Next day my mate told me that may be and issue with charging port, so i putted a knife inside usb port to clean it - no luck, when replaced battery with friends one phone turned on normally. When i pluged in the charger it turn off straight away and i noticed i condemned pins inside usb port so decided to replace Flex Cable inside after that phone can not start and charge even with friends battery. Any ideas ?
Sounds like you didn't replace the flex cable properly. Double check that.

I double checked and nothing, a lifted cooper connector in case they did not touch with case, and still nothing, do i need to put cover screws back to close circuit ? if not that mean still having problem.

You have short-circuited the pins in the usb port. As you connected the charge cable, the pins, which shouldn't contact each other, did.
I suspect that the main board got some sort of damage. It's basically a russian roulette of hardware faults, so only a repair shop could diagnose the problem, and most likely replace the main board.

s2 won't power off

Hi guys, I’ve had the s2 since it came out in the UK and have just rooted it as I wanted to try the custom roms out (never done this before, ever).
So I went to galaxys2root.com and followed his instructions to root the phone using odin and the said tar file.
Next step was to backup the phone by going into recovery mode and following the instructions through video. However when I press the power button to shut down / power off the phone it will just restart again without me doing anything.
The phone will stay on and works fine etc, I can use all the features but can’t shut down. I did go to thre CWM app and creat a backup on my SD card using the app which was done dine and the phone restarted but I still want to be able to shut the phone down.
Any help guys as I’ve tried using the search option and Google but can’t find anything useful. I tried JJEgan suggestion of doing a reset but it did not help. One post said try refreshing kernal but I don't have a clue what that was about, never got that far in the tutorial. Have only just rooted never mind installing a new rom.
Just a quick update:
I wa uccessfully able to apply the FoxHound_Otacon_V1_LP4_ICS_GSII_By_SnakeS rom but I stil get the same problem.
Any idea guys or is the phone damaged?
This is usually a dirty or damaged USB port. Try cleaning it with a dry toothbrush first. If that doesn't help, take the battery out and clean the USB port with a q-tip and a little rubbing alcohol, then let it dry before putting the battery back in. If neither of these work, your port is probably hosed and you need to get the part replaced.

I was getting a similar issue before I rooted the phone. I used to get a error message saying voltage too high, charging paused and got my phone back today from the o2 repair centre as it seemed like the micro usb port was damaged. Got it back today and it was working fine so I thought ill decide to flash it and install a custom rom. Oh well if it still doesn't work after your suggestion ill ship it back to o2 to fix.
Thanks again.
probably won't help but i had a similar issue and it was no more powah causing the issue. real pain when battery died and phone was stuck in a constant reboot cycle
Solved by using a degreaser/solvent remover (had no 99% alcohol) and toothbrush. left it to dry overnight and its working fine now.
thanks ctomgee

[Q] Urgent help 9\(phn maybe corrupted)

the issue started when the phn was exposed to a little rain.. started having the issue of over voltage.. i knew that the usb port had become faulty so reading the forums i tried cleaning it with aftershave as i did not have alcohol .. after that turning on my phn it went crazy into car mode and battery was 1 percent. after that it rebooted into download mode . now i have it on charge but it only boots in download mode .. any suggetion ?
Aftershave contains oils which *may* be conductive. You need to thoroughly clean the phone which will probably involve taking it apart.
But before you do any of that.......REMOVE THE BATTERY.....while the phone is powered up with who knows what shorting.....the chances are high that other damage is occurring.......
my wife says I'm a phone geek....
I'd have to agree......

thnx for ur quick reply buddy. well i did take it apart but not all, did remove the battery and did clean it thoroughly after i kept it on charge for about 5 mins and reseted it its now turned on and charging i hope for the best now hope its not a major motherboard short circuit type issue
now after 4 percent of charging it suddenly said battery disconnected and battery health unspecified battery icon started flashing now this is getting weired
Replace the USB board for starters. If that doesn't fix it & you've had the phone for ages, you're probably better off getting another phone rather than replacing motherboards/etc.
well heres an update took the battery out and let the port dry a little and also used a tissue and then plugged the charger and it worked fine till it charged fully and theres no more over voltage issue will update if it continues. Thnx for all ur help guys u know it human nature to get desperate for something they love so much suddenly die

[Q] Samsung S2 stuck in boot loop, cannot access Recovery Mode.

Hey Guys, ive scoured google for 2 days now trying to find a way to fix my phone.
two days ago i was doing some work and i left my phone on the table, and later i found out that the battery was low and it had shut off. But when i looked at it, it was just flashing the "samsung galaxy s2 gt-i9100" text logo. (and not the animation circle logo.)
I tried turning it off, didnt work so i thought it had frozen which happens, so i took out the battery and put it back in again.
Then i tried to plug it into my recharger, and it was showing a grey battery icon and was frozen on that screen always, the screen doesnt turn off, the battery icon isn't showing that its charging. doesnt change, just shows the same empty battery grey icon with the refresh circle-arrow in the middle.
I tried taking the battery out leaving it out for 5 minutes, draining the battery from the phone by holding the power button for 10 seconds, then trying to charge the phone. Same issue, only showing the grey battery icon when trying to charge and it never changes or goes away.
SO i tried to boot up the phone, but it wont go past the samsung text logo.
I tried entering recovery, but it just freezes on the samsung text logo.
I can enter Odin download mode, and ive tried installing several different both stock, original and CMW roms, and nothing changes. (except if i use gingerbread, then the grey battery icon just keeps flashing off and on in 5 second intervals when plugged into the charger.)
Ive tried taking the battery out for 8 hours and try booting it, no change.
Ive tried changing the battery, no change (think it has low bat as well maybe).
Ive tried leaving it plugged in overnight, but that only drained whatever power i had left over in one of the batteries.
Ive tried some of the siyah and doriman kernels, and they add a loading bar which gets full on the samsung text screen,
but then freezes after that.
Im losing my mind here, ive tried almost everything i can think of. And would really appreciate any help on this.
UPDATE
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok so to keep this post updated for people experiencing the same issues.
IT seems there is a hardware failure in progress.
BUT i managed to get a temporary fix, it seems that by having the ear plugs connected into the earphone jack in the phone, the phone becomes somewhat usable. I was able to get into recovery, and able to flash a new stock, and its up and running, but as i said this is only a temporary solution as the real issue is that the phone is not conducting the electricity in a proper way that allowed me to recharge my batteries until i had added the earphones...
The phone becomes unusable for me when i remove the earphones again, as i believe its failing to conduct the electricity from the battery properly through the motherboard without something connected into the earphone jack..
SO for people having issues with their phones, it might be a possible way to get your phone temporarily operational again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Search for Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread, download the 3 part stock firmware linked in the thread, flash it with Odin (only if you absolutely have an I9100/I9100T though).
Edit - Doesn't sound promising though, cross your fingers doing that works.
yeah i tried hoppers guide, didnt help me.
Still stuck on the samsung screen.
Whats wierd is, if ive got the phone on charging, it wont boot to the samsung screen even, it just turns itself off
and returns to the grey battery icon again.
Hang on....Did you try flashing the 3 part firmware like I mentioned ? If you haven't, do it. If you have, it's a service centre/local mobile repair shop job.

Yeah, tried 3 part, even another packages with pit files bootloader and repartitioning from another guide.
still no change, still freezes at samsung text screen.
I dont want to take it to a service center, as there is none around here as far as i know. Norway.
If i can just get it into recovery mode i can prob fix it, but i cant fracking enter recovery. Its driving me insane.
Given what you've tried, no chance of fixing it yourself by the usual methods.
Either take it to a local mobile repair shop & ask them to source a 2nd hand motherboard for you & put it in, or you source one (from a 'donor' phone; a phone with a broken screen that is otherwise OK for example, search online) & either replace it yourself or pay the local mobile repair shop to do it if you're not confident enough.
have you ever flashed a rom on that before..... or is this a stock ROM phone we are talking about???
if it was a stock ROM phone....then did it receive updates over carrier network and started to install itself???
if yes then you should have not stopped it...... i have some problem with phone 3 days ago.... i downloaded latest XWMS1 released for nordic region....... phone is fixed and i am back to neatrom 5.3.1
i suggest you download XWMS1 ...and try flashing it via Odin..... might start......
keep fingers crossed

It wasn't any update or anything, it was related to the battery i think as the batt was low.
And instead of recharging the battery, it went into bootloop and started draining the battery more when it was plugged into the charger.
ive downloaded xwms1, still stuck in bootloop.
Ive even opened it up to see if it was a hardware issue, i see no flaws, all buttons work and nothing is stuck.
the phone just keeps going to the samsung logo, and wont go into recovery mode.
It can easily go into download mode, but recovery mode is just not happening.
at this point i just ordered the Xperia Z1 instead, but i still want to fix this phone and give it to my dad or something.

errrrm - just a thought (and it's a real long shot) I had some strange battery drain (bootloop) issues with a brand new i9100 and it turned out that the micro sd card I was using was corrupt, took it out and it worked. Might be worth a try but like I said its a long shot. If that does not work I agree with mistahbungle and looks like you wil need to replace the mb.

errrrm - just a thought (and it's a real long shot) I had some strange battery drain (bootloop) issues with a brand new i9100 and it turned out that the micro sd card I was using was corrupt, took it out and it worked. Might be worth a try but like I said its a long shot. If that does not work I agree with mistahbungle and looks like you wil need to replace the mb.

I've went through this on my Hercules, T-Mobile S2. I had Android tweaker pro, removed all of the tweaks, and rebooted. It took me quite a while but I was able to get into recovery by the normal button mashing.
DO NOT HAVE THE PHONE PLUGGED INTO THE CHARGER.
PRESS THE VOLUME BUTTONS THEN THE POWER BUTTON WHILE STILL HOLDING THE VOLUME BUTTONS.
AS SOON AS YOU FEEL THE FIRST VIBRATION, LET GO OF ONLY THE POWER BUTTON!
CONTINUE TO HOLD THE VOLUME BUTTONS UNTIL YOUR RECOVERY LOADS.
THAT IS WHAT HAS WORKED FOR ME.

Please Help !!
i kinda cloned my ROM , it happened by mistake while trying to flash my kernel , now that my phone is stuck in samsung start up logo , . tried to reboot still the same result. . . :crying:
No recovery ? If that's the case, stock rom from Samfirmware, flash with Odin to get a 'clean slate' (How ? Thread stickied near top of Q&A has instructions) & re-try whatever it was you wanted to do. If you do have recovery, try a factory reset in the first instance, if that doesn't work or if you have recovery but can't do one for whatever reason, proceed with the stock flash via Odin.
Thanks
thanks a lot mate , my fone back in action. successfully flashed, now running on JB 4.3.1 on Paranoidandroid 3.99-RC2 , so far so good .:victory:
being a newbei in this field hoping for all the support
EDIT : any suggestion how to remove warning symbol (yellow triangle) while booting .
Possibly triangle away.Search to get the free version.

A friend of mine had am Android phone that had a similar problem. It always showed the headphones on the status bar and Could not be heard. If you will take your phone apart then you can look for bridges in the solder points. These happen from poor construction and over heating. Fix the bridges and you should be good to go.

I did take it apart and had a quick look, all seems ok. However I was not ready to junk the phone so I improvised a little, its not pretty but it works.
I had an old headphone jack which I cut down so as it would just fit into the jack point, installed Soundabout Pro app which forces the calls to come out the earpiece and not headphones voila it works. In the end it cost me a lot of time surfing countless forums, anger management control and some joy at getting it to work. Still without the help people give on this and other forums it would be a useless phone :fingers-crossed:
