hi guys, i have a problem with hi-fi dac when turning it ON, sound decreases about 50% and 1 of speakers turned of. anyone knows about that ? is it need a specific headphone or any wired headphone works ?
so, no one faced this problem ?
MY lg headphones are like that, they run on half volume. Tried others and work normal, but i dont see difference on others with dac on or off
I have a couple of questions regarding the following:
- is the USB-C to 3.5 dongle included with the mate 10 pro include a dac?
- The BT Audio when used in the car does have lower sound than the Galaxy S8 which is my second phone plus the APTXHD found in the developer options doesnt work too.
any ideas?

I think its a dac, I just used it in my car and the sound is way stronger and different, I'm sticking to that instead of the BT Audio in the Huawei.
I doubt that the dongle holds the DAC but the SOC does. Or at least it's on the motherboard.
Did anyone try the huawei histen audio though?

Yeah, it's great but I have to go to parameters - huawei histen each time I put my headset.
Option is always activated but seems work only I go to parameters first

I doubt that the included dongle holds a DAC/Amp. Instead, I've been using my DragonFly Black (1.5) with a usb-c to usb-a otg cable, which delivers a much cleaner/wider/louder sound.
Regarding Bluetooth codec, AptX HD works great for me (using Aiaiai TMA-2 + H05), maybe your car BT receiver is not compatible?...
I tried both the dongle and the included USB Type-C headphone on my old Mate 9 Pro, and interestingly, the USB Type-C headphone worked perfectly while the dongle was not working at all.
Since Mate 9 Pro has a built-in 3.5mm AUX port, I don't think it supports USB analog audio pass thru. Therefore, I think the included headphone indeed has a DAC, but the dongle doesn't . If this is true, then Mate 10 Pro indeed has a DAC built in.
Just got a mate 10 Pro to compare to my u11+ and found that every dongle used with the Mate 10 Pro sounds so quiet. The U11+ is so much louder but even the OP3T and S8 seem louder. Has anyone else found this to be the case? I've used the stock dongle, Google's and Razerphone and they are LOUD on S8 and U11+ but extremely quiet on Mate 10 Pro
Have you tried playing around with the sound option? Specifically the Huawei Histen Sound Effects option.

Yeah and it makes things sound different, it's basically just an EQ right. Doesn't do anything in terms of making sound louder and boosting everything via EQ for loudness is simply a no go. Via Bluetooth it's fine because my P7s built in amp is used. My wired headsets sound horrible through the Mate 10 Pro though.

Same here.
Sound could be better honestly.
With dongle or with Bluetooth headset, sound is just ok...
Audio capabilities of this phone are a big disappointment in my opinion. If someone can help to make things better please let us know.
Same issue. Mate and 10 lite
No issue whatsoever. I bought the fabulous sony-wh-1000xm2 and live is seriously good. Streaming high res flacs over 990 kbs LDAC
With Mate 10, even with cheap Philips in-ear headset (Philips-SHE3595BK) sound is very clear and loud.
I can't even imagine with a good quality headset.
Using some mdr-1a and the USB c headphones from htc bolt/10 Evo. Both sound very very good, clear and Loud.
I have rooted my phone and can try to find out if there is a way to boost audio via USB c headphones / the adapter
Sent from my HUAWEI BLA-L29 using XDA Labs
Sound is good but imo, not enough high with headsets
Yes, the max output level is quite low for the dongle. Over BT it's the same as other sources in output level since that's not set by the phone.
Is this on European phones only ? could it be the EU volume limit as seen on many mp3 players etc ?

Asia model here. Again: it's only playback through the dongle, not Bluetooth.

I think so.
It was always like that with all devices I had before.
Need root to increase level sadly
@Galactus so I got the u11 today and tried the dongle on the huawei. and man! it IS SO MUCH LOUDER and everything sounds better too!
With my IE80 the sound is loud enough... But the impedance is also only 16Ohms...
Since there isn't a headphone jack anyways, you can buy the Good Pixel USB Dac, heard it's quite good, at "iPhone" level.

Indeed it is and yet the U11+ is even louder
Not that it is necessary but the extra voltage and lower volume brings out more of the sound etc.
The best dongle I have used is the Razerphone dongle followed by the Pixel 2 dongle. The HTC dongle is actually the worst, but still better than what Huawei bundled with the Mate 10 Pro

oh crazy, then I gonna order it, if it is available in germany
Hi, I bought a mate 10 pro three days ago, but when I connect my device with Bluetooth (sbc codec) the quality is very poor and distorted.
I tried the same connection with same audio device and same audio file but with other phones (s8 plus, s7, A5 2016) and the quality was much better.
I also tried with a p10 lite and the quality was the same of mate 10 pro, so I think that the problem is in emui software.
Maybe there is a problem whit the sbc conversion because with ldac codec there is no problem.

Tl;Dr SBC codec causes distortion, AAC is broken, Huawei said they were aware of that, but I've my doubts .... Hoping for a software update that will bring things back to normal.
Any updates?? I have mate 10 pro, with same problem... SBC much noise... Acc totally broken. Beats X my earphones

EMUI 8 doesn't support AAC, SBC seems to be fixed on the latest firmwares for the C432.
Long story short if looking to buy new Bluetooth headphones, look forward for aptx or LDAC support.
B141 fixes Bluetooth issues.
I had problems before and so far, using the Mate 10 Pro with the Jaybird X3 for about 10 days on B141, I had no more issues.
Before that, I had the audio switch to loudspeaker all the time.
Have the same poor quality here with my jbl Xtreme. Rocking on bla-l29133c605 here...
I have just attempted to pair my Mate 10 Pro with Sony WI-1000X, and guess what — it won't connect via anything but SBC, no matter in what order I turn their Bluetooth signal on and how many times I try to select LDAC in the Android settings.
Curious if this update fixes BT.
I juat got a usb type c dac for my mate 10 pro(hidizs sonata). When i connect it to the device i see the headphone symbol at the top but i cant hear anything. The usb audio player says "playback error".
Is it possible to use a dac with the mate 10 pro?
I don't think so

Unfortunately I have the same case when connecting my mate 10 pro to shanling m0
connected but no audio from the dac, just from the phone loudspeaker
even with using app that support USB audio drivers, still negative
I miss my P9 plus, was working flawlessly with the m0 and miss its dual active sims.
