Resting heart rate and heart rate in general is broken
Hi
I upgraded from 2.3.7.0 from 2.3.5.0 yesterday. I've logged about 660 miles of running and cycling with 2.3.5.0 since early September.
Unfortunately heart rate seems to be broken now - on the phone app and on the heart rate app on the watch I now see -- rather than resting heart rate. I also see some very strange 'spikes' now during inactivity (just sitting on my laptop, browsing) which I never got before.
Also on the the first run with 2.3.7.0 after hitting the green 'Go' button the watch completely froze on the next screen, speed / mileage / HR was just blank and not updating - I had to do a long press on the top button to restart the watch.
I've restarted and rebooted 3 times since going to 2.3.7.0 and I regret it.
Do not upgrade to 2.3.7.0 is a general consensus?
Huge thanks for this! I was thinking to update or not and now, definitely not. Ironically, update supposed to fix "abnormal heart rate".
Heart rate for me is definitely more accurate in 2.3.7.0 and I didn't notice any other differences elsewhere. Previously in activities heart rate would always be higher no matter if I was just sitting down and doing nothing or actually doing the activity. Now it's more consistent with actual heart rate.

What was your previous firmware?
I did not go to 2.3.6.0 due to the back light bug, or 2.3.6.1 due to heart rate issues reported.
For example, since moving to 2.3.7.0 I see a minimum heart rate of 44 BPM reported now, before this 'upgrade' since September it was always 47 BPM and now off course resting heart rate (which is usually 52 - 54 BPM) is no longer reported at all.
I found with 2.3.5.0 resting heart rate with Stratos was very good - it was within 1 or 2 of my Wahoo Tickr bluetooth HRM and pretty much the same as Fitbit Surge. Stratos is always useless for heart rate when running or cycling and I do not think firmware will ever fix this which is why I use Wahoo Tickr for activities, but resting pre 2.3.7.0 was always accurate.

On my watch, continous HR didn't work. The green light didn't show.
Floors climbed is more accurate.
I stopped updating at 1.3.6.1 today. The only reported problem with 7.x is HR precision?
WTF
I updated accidentally. I had selected to skip this version but it was offering update and constantly losing connection to phone. So when I clicked to see an notification the update message jumped under my click and updated.
God bless me...
If I get any issue, there is any way to downgrade without unlock bootloader?

I'm new here so I can't post any links but if anyone wants to see HR from 13th December with 2.3.7.0 vs HR with older 2.3.5.0 firmware from 10th December let me know
HR looks awful on 2.3.7.0 - gaps in heart rate, strange spikes and complete reading loss, and off course no resting HR (--)

Hi there!
I've got the same problem. Neither restarting nor rebooting are no help!
The remedy for this is following. You have to perform unpairing your watch from the mobile device (use application for that) - it is going to cause the watch rebooting. Next - on the mobile device delete your watch from bluetooth pairs (use bluetooth settings). After the watch rebooting is completed, pair it again (scan the QR-code and do all the other steps). Deny the suggestion of restoring user data (that is IMPORTANT!). After the pairing process is completed restore you settings manually.
Of course you will lose the data and statistics you have collected. But the watch is going to start working again.

Thanks for the suggestion but I am not prepared to lose over 3 months data, over 660 miles since September. It makes the watch pointless to track progress.
I've contacted Amazfit support with screenshots showing the heart rate issues, 10th December 2.3.50 data is great, 13th December with 2.3.7.0 is just a mess
After over 2 years software development and still weekly updates, I can't understand why the s/w is so bad after over 2 years development. Great hardware (apart from optical heart rate sensor) but the bad software really is a killer
Apparently everything is ok...
HR is working flawless as always!
Tomorrow I'll run and let's see how will be the behavior.

I suppose I can wait a while longer to update...
I agree with comments above. It's just ridiculous that they cannot make sw right. And unpairing/pairing... Really? In 21st century we have to waste our time to fix damn gadget.
Btw, if you sync first, your data should not be lost. In reality, most probably you are going to lose data of the current day and the last night. Always happened to me with unpairing/pairing.

I backed up using the Amaz backup software here on another thread, then unpaired / repaired.
It doesn't fix the problem at all - if anything is made things worse as now I lost Continuous heart rate monitoring. This no longer works at all when it is enabled - if you go to screen with the Continuous On switch, it activates for about 15 seconds, then turns off again as soon as you go back to the main watch face. I
Sometimes HR randomly comes on again for about 15 seconds - I guess this is why there is so much missing data from my continuous monitoring.
Heart monitor comes on ok during a Sport, or comes on fine if you do a 'Check' with the green button on the heart app, so its not a hardware problem - it's software, something in 2.3.7.0 totally broke something so deep it can't be solved with a reset - must be a persistent setting somewhere.
I'm beyond fed up now.
Well, looks like you supposed to not restore backup. Neither using official or unofficial way.
About continuous hrm, it's not really continuous. It's measuring in some intervals. Maybe every 15s or some. Otherwise will drain battery too quickly. Resting hr to show up also takes some time, maybe even 24h. It makes sense, watch needs to measure long enough to calculate your resting hr.
But this we should not have this conversation, update supposed to be tested before release. Now we are beta or even alpha testers. But if company like MS can do that...

A couple of points - I've backed up but not restored anything. I've speng nearly 2 days trying to solve this, probably about 20 reboots / power off / factory reset / unpairs in total.
When continuous HR is set to On with previous firmware, the green LEDs flashed all the time, 24/7 even if it wasn't on your wrist. This is how its supposed to work (and did with 2.3.5.0) and how my Fitbit Surge works - with continuous HR monitoring, the LEDs will flashing continuously. They do not 'burst' for about 15 seconds, go off for a minute or two, then come back on again for a few seconds like with 2.3.7.0 behavior.
Once I can post links and put up some photos and do a video of what is going wrong - I'll be sharing this with Amazfit, and also my vendor, as at this stage with a half marathon and marathon coming up soon next year, I really need a reliable watch. so also looking at refund options sadly too
I'm pretty sure that green LED os not flashing all the time... Anyway, you should report problem as we all should. More reports, bigger chance they will solve bugs.
I reported many bugs and issue already. Most, if not all, are not solved

Hello there, i have updated my watch ti android wear 1.4 MM and i noticed that the batterylife is now horrible on my watch, how is yours?
Thx for reply
Same issue here, battery life is like halved it's insane.
I swear my battery levels are jumping around. I checked at lunch and I swear it was at 76% and all of a sudden it's 86%. Mine seems like it's draining quickly too though, there's definitely something going on.
Did you activate WLAN?
Did you activate "play phone audio on watch"?
Battery seems normal to me so far. I average 50% per 24hrs with wellness tracking my sleep at night.

It's pretty great; I've been using it since the day I got my Zenwatch 2 as well. The amount of features (and even tasker support, though I haven't used it) is insane.
I get full 2 days battery backup even on always on display

How do you activate sleep mode?
I think he means theatre mode, double click the button to activate. (or swipe from above)
Sleep mode is in the wellness app (sleep tracker). Once in sleep, then double press button for theater mode.
Before the update i went to sleep with 60-65%, now with android 6 i go sleep with 20-30%, hope the next update will release soon.
Mine has been crappy for the last three days. I'll try resetting tonight.
Still going strong
Still having battery drain issues. I did a factory reset via unpairing the watch and changed to a more basic WatchMaker watch face (https://facerepo.com/app/faces/details/glance-zenwatch-14b796cc884) and I'm still having problems. My watch went from 80-75% charge to 32% in ~20 hours while in theater mode.
For those with these battery drain issues, what kind of watch face are your using? Is it static or animated? White or colored always-on display? Watchmaker, Facer, or Play store face? I'm trying to find any common factors we may have that could be causing the battery drain.

My ZW2 is on 1.4, I disconnect in the morning and don't need too charge until the next day in the night. And it would still have around 15% of charge left.
I'm using the Asus FaceDesigner app for watch faces. Screen is set to white colored always on. Watch face is static, I designed a simple digital watch face with white numbers on black background.

There is definitely bug in calories calculation on Gear Fit2.
Example 1: there is no weightlifting or indoor high intensive training (for example les mills bodypump/bodycombat) "program". Had to use "pilates" instead. But seems to be "pilates" calories calculation is not correct (too small - 326 calories, average HR 151, duration 1hr). Other training programs did not matched. 326 cal/Hr.
Example 2: Stationary bicycle "program", first 10 minutes with relaxed warming tempo (with HR 95-105). result:burned 110 calories. Next 10 minutes with higher tempo (HR 115-125): result, burned 109 calories. 700 cal/Hr
Example 3: Stationary bicycle "program" - 10 minutes just being home (walk from one room to another) with HR 63-105 gave me 115 calories. 700 cal/Hr
Example 4: Hiking (duration 25 min, distance about 2 km, average HR 112) - 130 calories. 280 cal/Hr
Example 5: Indoor walking 17 min, average HR 119 - 155 calories. 600 cal/Hr

I can only confirm. I came to same result. It is very disapointing, such a good looking device with many option and such a failture for fitness tracking. Hoping for quick software release, otherways I ll buy other band or watch.
Yes, the calorie algo seems to be buggered.
I used the watch for a 55min skate last night. Usually get 650-750cals during that. It reported an average of 138bpm. Total calories burned, 36.
36.
I think the calorie burning algo in general is just messed up. Looking at my logs since I got the watch, I'm barely 100 calories above my estimated BMR for every day. That would imply I'm sedentary and not moving.
I've noticed a few other bugs, I assume they're trying to iron them out as the watch has been getting daily updates .. unfortunately they don't install. Very "beta" feel to it software wise.
So far the bugs and odd decisions I've seen:
- Incorrect cal calculation for workouts
- Doesn't track floors. Some days I get credit, others I do not (I don't wear it in the shower as that can throw off the barometer). Might be tied to speed of movement?
- Missing a weightlifting / interval option on the band, even though it's in the S Health app.
- App doesn't update the band like it's supposed to.
- No option to change the flip-to-wake to be inverted (for wearing on the inside of the watch)
- No option to have the 24hr log list in 12hr AM/PM format.
- Inactive notifications on the band don't seem to work (?).
- Power Save mode is a nice touch. But it'd be better if you could toggle it to be automatic at a certain % (like 15% of battery).
- Goals do not automatically adjust based on your progress. This is standard for many trackers these days.
Now for those reading this, they may be thinking this device sucks. It can be fixed if they give it proper software support. I switched from a Band 2 to this. It has a great build quality, great screen, very comfortable, and great graphic presentation of the data right on the band. Magnetic charging is nice and it charges at about 1.32%/min. So full charge in just over an hour. Battery life is around 60hrs for me.
Today I recieved answer from local Samsung Customer Care Line, to my questions about missing calculation counting during indoor/gym excercise and calculation of burned calories without HR consideration. Here it is, translated from Slovak language:
"Continuous monitoring of calories burned is only by 4 basic exercises. For other exercises you can see the calories burned after completion of exercise. This is a feature of the watch.
Regarding the calories burned with consideration to heart rate, the situation is exactly as you describe. However, it is a new product and software is constantly evolving and improving. So it is possible that there will be repaired and improvements in a future version of firmware."

I take that second part to mean that they are aware of the calorie counting bug?
I really wish Samsung would take a page out of Fitbit/Microsoft's book and get a user voice forum. It really helps them get valuable feedback. From what I can tell, there's not even a way to submit a bug report within the apps.

Hi. Now they know in Samsung, there is a way to do Calorie counting more precise, but if they update their SW? I really do not know. From their mail I feel only unclear promisses. Maybe yes, maybe no. I think, If they get more claims like mine, they start to think about, otherways I rather go back to Polar, or similar device, even if by Samsung, HW is perfect, I like music player, GPS and beutiful display.
Yeah something is definitely up. I just got my gear fit 2 yesterday. Right out of the box as soon as it was set up it said I had burned 1500 calories. I figured it was just a glitch and would reset in the morning to an accurate count. Woke up after the device was charged all night and it said I had already burned 500 calories. Any way to calibrate this?
These are calories burned while you're resting. Even when you sleep. Base metabolism calculated by your watch.
I've had mine for a few days and mine is doing the samend thing. Taking it out of the box and setting it up I burned 1000 calories, lol. Was camping over the weekend and walked a lot. Got in 14,436 steps and my watch says I burned 2214 calories. Even with the 500 I woke up with (sleeping 6h 36m) I do not think I've burned that many calories. The first watch did this too and I returned it after a day. Wondering if it isn't from a setting in my phone. Have you figured out how to fix it yet?
Some fitness tracked include the BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), some others do not. Samsung Gear Fit2 does, which means that the shown value raises automatically even without any aditonal moving.
I have for example a BMR of 1845 kcal, which means, that in 6 hours, my BMR is around 461 kcal. When I wake up in the morning, the 500 kcal is fine for me. As long as you know how to thread it.
There is no option to change this and there is also no option to divide BMR and additonal burned calories.
Concerning the calculation of burned calories I totally agree: The Gear Fit2 calculates very very temperate. For me this is better than if id would show me more burned calories. But definitely has to be improved.
Thought I'd hop on this train too. Purchased a Fit2 yesterday and will be returning it this evening. I have done two work outs and the estimated calories burned is ludicrously low. In an hour long work out this morning, my Polar H7 said I burned 712 calories while the Fit2 said 378. Whats really sad, is that the heart rate data is totally usable, which was my concern before purchasing.

I am reading new firmware rolled out this weekend for Gear Fit 2 - Can anyone confirm this issue is fixed?
Also, being able to track heart rate/correct calories for 'other work out'.

I have no idea - I returned mine a few months ago. I loved the device (bought 2 actually) but it was so inaccuracy I had to return them to the store. If they fixed the 'fitness accuracy' issues I will buy them again in a heart beat. So much nicer than Fitbit.

I can't belive that I've always had Nova Launcher and now in a 1000 Euro phone I cannot use it because of the heat! The heat it always starts on the camera zone on the back
Had this with the Snapdragons before but the Exynos usually cooler, have you checked to see if it has an app running in the background causing it

Yes, I've installed System panel and Gsam battery monitor but i can't see any app the in particular is going crazy. I can see that sometimes, without any specific use, is starts to burn untill 42 like yesterday; I restarted the phone but i keeped doing it. I've took off all the background working for many apps like spotify and others....Now i'm doing hard reset and I will see...

Maybe better, maybe...you know the heat was going along with a strong battery drain. So I will wait one day to decide if bring it to assistance or not...
By the way, it's not fair to spend time to try to fix problems in a 1000 euros and 3 weeks phone and eventually bring it to assistance and stay without it for one week...I need the telephone for work!

?? mine appears to be normal now...dunno what changed
For me the video enhancement feature in settings was causing increased temperature and also battery loss. Turn it off and it will surely increase the battery life.
Mine gets warm too, but randomly. It stays cool most of the time. But all of a sudden it would get warm in my pocket. Don't know what's going on.
S9 overheating
Hi. I have been having the same issue. I took my phone back and got a replacement due to it overheating but the new phone overheats as well. It overheats the most when I use the Screen Mirroring (Smart View) feature to watch movies on my Samsung smart TV. I am curious to find out if this happens to other S9 owners as well. While I am watching movies using this feature it gets so hot the phone will freeze up halfway through the movie . My kids were watching a movie and they said the screen displayed a message stating it overheated and then shut off. This doesn't happen with any other of my other Samsung phones. I was walking with the phone on my hip on day and it started to get hot as well. I am so disappointed. I really am a fan of these phones but this is a huge problem of course. Also my first phone was was trouble shooted, updated and reset but it still had the same issues unfortunately. I had to go through all those steps before getting a new replacement device.
Hi, is there any way to count steps for whole day?
At the moment it hardly count 2000 steps a day while my other fitbit count more that 9000 steps .
I am talking about whole day steps not training . ( it works fine during the training )
and I am refreshing the watch activity log , sync the app on the phone . it is not a misunderstanding of how to use the watch , the watch is not counting my all day steps.
Tried factory reset , update firmware. but nada .....
:crying::crying::crying:
I have the same problem.mi band says ~5000 steps and stratos ~1000...
What is happening?
I am working in a cafe-restaurant so no continious walking....
It seems that latest international firmware version (2.3.4.0?) on Stratos has problems with steps, and some users reported that at least during an activity it got better after disabling auto-pause... Try disabling auto-pause on activities, start and discard activity, then restart the watch. Maybe it helps until they fix the problem in the next release.
I tried stratosfied too.again the same results.mb it is faulty hardware???

No dont think so, i have the same issue since last firmware update. That and a battery drain (two days max)....
I dont have the latest firmware.i have 2.0.24.0 and still have big problrm with step counter.it ciunts only the 1/5 of what mi band 2 counts....
Before 2.3.4.0 I tested against Garmin Vivoactive 3 and it showed more or less same amount. But now with latest firmware I think it is not counting correctly anymore. I think we have to wait 3 more weeks until next firmware update.
I ll wait and see then....after that if it wont fix them i lll go for a replacememt...20 euros miband 2 counts better than 180 euros stratos....shameeee
Garmin start counting steps after 10 continuous steps to avoid too arm movement. I think Stratos have similar filter but start counting after about 30 or 40 continuous steps So for daily count each time you walk only 28 steps it count 0 But on activity if you walk 2500 steps all steps are counted.
So it is the hardware limitation and it wont be fixed in the future??i wont to know how many kms i am doing daily and not only when exercising.
Mi band says 9-10k steps every day and stratos only 2k steps.
Xiaomi made a big mistake here.the watch is for trash....

No : Just a software feature. Just made to avoid false steps with arm movement.
Even if you walk 3500 steps with a lawnmower it count almost 0 steps
I know almost just Fitbit trackers wich have no issue to count steps on arm band. My Fitbit One at the belt has about same steps count than my other Fitbit tracker : Surge, Alta, Charge, Blaze or Versa. So if Fitbit can I think all over can but they would not
It is just software and fixable. I read the Chinese forum and there were some complains about counting steps while driving car. They tried to fix this. I guess they set the limits of to hard because my steps average decreased after the firmware update.
However, even promoted everywhere steps count is not a useful measurement of your fitness and activity. Even Garmin is measuring wrong. Pushing baby stroller is not even counting as steps. A much better indicator for your activity is intensity minutes as recommended by the American Heart Association. One should at least have 150 intensity minutes a week. Also for Garmin devices this is the only reliable metric. Unfortunately it is not implemented in Stratos. Also use resting HR and average HR as measurement of you health.
World Health Organisation say that we need to walk 10 000 steps by day.
A step is measurable at anytime, others things are more subjective. Even a distance is not a good value because some can have 2 x more steps and energy for same distance.
I'm having this issue as well, anyone found any solution?
having the last firmware installed 2.3.4
I notice a lagging between real steps ad the watch counter
sometimes it reflect live (counter follow the steps) sometimes not
but after a synchro with the app or at the end of the day steps measured seems correct.
It still counts far less steps than other devices. Especially while working short distances like at home or in the office. For me having 6000 steps on Stratos compares to more than 10.000 on Garmin.
Yesterday 6500 steps on my Garmin Vivosmart 3 and 3400 steps on Stratos. So not usable with very big difference. Can not reflect the activity so no interest.

it looks like they changed their step counting algorithm and made it s_u_c_k the way it is now . they think this is better !!
All in all , i think this watch become useless for me .

Yes, totally unusable for me now. When it count 3400 steps at day when Fitbit belt clip (so real count) count 8600 steps it is totally wrong and nothing todo with real activity. So only issue is to keep in a drawer
Hi All,
I just replaced my stratos 2 with a strstos3 (the old one died). The watch is what I expected but my surprise is that with the strstos2 the vo2 data was correct but with this one I always see the same value 27 and performance very poor. In addition, the heart rate was ok but when I check my activities and the breakdown for the heart zone, I don't have any time on V2 max or anaerobic. The weird thing is that I do see these values on the watch screen when I'm running or cycling and when I check the heart rate in the app, the values seem to be correct. Anyone facing the same issue and with a solution?
Thank you very much for your help
I use a bluetooth belt since all devices (no exception) do not deliver accurate optical sensor HR data - If you do the same you will have more accurate resutls - My Stratos is giving 54 Vo2 which is almost accurate (my best when I was an athlete was 69
Thanks for your response but I always get the same constant value which is incorrect... On top of it, I have updated the watch to the next version of the firmware and now after 2 min recording the activity it crashes.... A disaster.... Very unhappy about it
