Just wanted to make this thread,
As most of you know me as an ass. but this isn't about me.
DSB has been sick, AND to top it off, his build-box died.
I think, as a smaller, but dedicated community, we should be able to
pull enough together to fix it/get a new one.
I'm not asking people to send me anything, just to consider donations to
DSB directly (not posting link, if you care enough, you know where to go)
His kernel has (with bugs, that he cannot fix without a box) made the phone
"useable" in many many peoples opinions, even the stock.
he gave us the wakelock fix, weeks before QC could see fit to fix it...
just consider (since, 99% of all roms run it, or ask you to run it) giving
back to someone who gave to you....

As I mentioned to you in the IRC channel I am happy to donate. Something that may make people more likely to donate is if we have a goal.
Does he need a complete new computer? Does he just need a motherboard? I know he may not want to give out too much personal info and I respect that but as someone WILLING to donate I am likely to give more $$ if I know what we are working towards.

Understandable,
I got further details from him (at this time, he has no idea WTF i am doing) by what he can tell, it could be anything. the box is a 4th hand referb workstation, personally, I don't know what VALUE we are heading towards, but I would say a whole new box is infinitely more cost effective. I don't know how far we can take this on here, (XDA) but the IRC channel is where i live.

Man, I pretty much feel like a jerk for not already donating. His kernel allowing us to write to system while booted (plus the flash GUI app) has basically made S-OFF a non-priority as far as I'm concerned. I'm pitching in as we speak. Good looking out drache
Bumping this. I tried cubed kernel but kept having random reboots and lock ups. I've been using his stock kernel with R/W while I wait for an update to cubed. OP send me a PM if you can. I might have a few additional ideas for donations.

Was wondering if anyone has any updates on custom roms, unlocking possibilities, custom recovery etc. Just bought this phone for $5 at 7-11 and thought it may be a nice phone to play around with. So far it's rooted based on other forum posts but since then the project seems to be abandoned?

unfortunately, i bricked my phone in a rather silly way. (flashed a test recovery image and discovered that the device will get stuck in a bootloop if its recovery is damaged) if i could get one for $5 here i'd have already bought another! that's a hell of a deal. i was really looking forward to getting something running on this device, but with no viable full flash restore mechanism (that i'm aware of yet) it's a rocky battle.
i don't suppose you'd be willing to purchase another one of these and mail it to me? i can paypal you however much it'd be to buy one (or maybe even two o.o) and ship it, so long as the phone really is only $5. that's a really really appealing price to be able to have a second chance at bringing something interesting to a minimally-supported device!

let me check all the stores in my area again...if not i could always send you this one since i originally bought it to play around with and get something working on it to make it decently usable... pretty much more than just talk, possibly even unlock for use on att towers since coverage here is nonexistent on net10. I have a galaxy s5 i just got today which will be my main phone but this one i was mainly just hoping to get running to introduce my mom to smartphones as an xmas gift. With no coverage here on it's current service the thing is kind of useless to me atm anyways. just message me where you want me to mail it and i'll let you know if i'm able to get anything sent out. I probably won't be able to send anything till after black friday since my work schedule interferes with getting to the post office anytime before that. I'd estimate the thing should cost no more than $5 to ship though. if you need the microsd it came with i will leave it in the phone too. its a 4gb card.

Did anything ever come of this? I have 6 of these that I would very much like custom ROMs for. If I didn't need all of them I would certainly send you one. I work for 7-11 so guess where I got them and for how much lol. I actually need 10 for a project I am working on, but haven't had any luck finding anymore in my area either. If i do i will be glad to send one. Looks like I quoted the wrong post but you get the point. :fingers-crossed:
Rooting ZTE 768G Tracfone
I've tried KingoRoot for days now. 4 days to be exact. I can't seem to find ANYTHING that will just simply root this phone. I downloaded and tried VRoot now at LEAST a dozen times in the 2 hours I've been working on it this morning.
Is there a way to root a phone using Android Studio?? I mean the program is there to build and work on Android...wouldn't it have some way to root a phone as well?
A friend gave me this little ZTE 768G Midnight...and it sucks. No memory worth speaking of but if I can get it rooted I can use Link2SD to expand that....
Unfortunately I found out too late that the Moto E 2nd generation (2015 LTE) purchased directly from Cricket Wireless comes with a permanent locked boot loader. It came preinstalled with Lollipop. Is anyone willing to work on a way to unlock the boot loader, maybe for a few bucks? If someone has already come up with a method of unlocking this phone, could someone direct me? I have been searching for weeks and come up empty. The closest I came was with Sunshine, but it couldn't with Lollipop installed. I have tried the ADB method but obviously failed and Motorola gives the device not compatible message when trying to unlock from their site (obviously) and now at a loss. If anyone is willing to help, I'd appreciate it.
I'm dealing with the same exact issue. It's been driving me crazy as well.

I am glad I'm not alone on this, just hope someone is interested enough to actually try, and who knows, maybe even succeed.
You're definitely not alone. I've seen some interesting and possibly relevant posts in the Moto E section. Including a batch file that tries a bunch of codes. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. But I'm still plugging away at it. I'm not a developer though, just a geek that enjoys trying to break things.

Do you have the link to the file? I'd love to try. Stupid thing with Sunshine is it passed the Percheron's but because it has lollipop installed, it has to be rooted first to unlock.

Thanks TheWeirdedOne, I am giving it a shot right now, it appears that it is going to be a long brute force process, still faster than if I tried to guess.
Lemme know your results, please. I need to run it again overnight, I didn't get very far when I tried (needed the phone). So I'm going to try again as well.

Yea, I needed my phone, I was only able to try for a few hours, no luck yet. From what I can tell, it appears the code is in hex, wouldn't it be easier to broot force by incrementing the value by one. Only thing is we'd need to know for sure is how many characters long it should be. I'd think this would be faster than randomizing, just my opinion. Also with that tool, what prevents it from trying some of the same codes? I really hope someone with real knowledge would respond and help out, but I am not about to demand it or annoy anyone.
I hear ya. I believe it's a 20 digit code. The guy that made it just basically randomized the numbers in the list. I highly doubt it would actually work. So we sit and wait patiently. Someone will eventually crack it, even At&t might, at some point allow for the bootloader to be unlocked. Until then, we just sit and wait lol
If it is a 20 digit code, I might try a simple hex counter with this, but that still will take awhile for it to run. I wish Cricket would reveal the code for my phone.
You and me both, I feel like I got ripped off. This isn't a phone that was purchased under a contract. That's what bugs me. The phone is completely ours since we paid for it. We should have fill rights to do whatever we want to it.

Yes, I so agree, just wish I were smart enough to crack it or rich enough to rip one of these apart and break it if needed. Regardless, I'm open for suggestions.

Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way to use odin to crack the bootloader instead of adb mode or rsd lite, you know like using Linux to crack windows , I'm already familiar with Odin as far as rooting a Galaxy Tab 3 is concerned. Im sure I'm just grabbing at straws right now.
Any other ideas with this? The script is unrealistic at this rate.
Resurrecting an old thread here, but I take it no one has yet found a way to unlock a Cricket Moto E 2015? Disappointing that you have to wait 6 months in order to have Cricket do the unlocking for you. I would like to root my phone but apparently that isn't going to happen any time soon! I'll keep hoping though.

just being able to run stuff as root has no development as people won't make roms around a boot image

Started back in April... New phones out, and more new devices on the horizon. I have come to terms with a locked bootloader from Samsung. I'll stand by my pledge, but I don't see this going anywhere. I'll hold out till April 2018 but if we're over a year, I don't think the interest will hold personally.

Anyone try to get the phone into Qualcomm mode and flash a China s7 loader Img as our problem is the secure download , since Qualcomm mode is used to re partition the phones file systems and then try to unlock the bootloader as in other forums

Just leaving this open in case anyone finds a way. It would really help many of us and would be very much appreciated if someone could share. There was a tool but the owner of it decided to sink towards selling people credit and it got removed from this site. Hopefully, there will be an alternative. I know there might not be anything at the time, but there needs to be a thread here in case one ever shows up, so I'm making this.
