As you can see in my screenshot speed dial is not working. This widget belongs to the default contacts app. I gave it all permissions. Do you guys have the same bug? I know it would work with different apps but I wonder if there may be a fix.
Exact error message: This app is not allowed to perform this action
It would be really nice if someone could test this.
tested it and its working properly on .182 (updated from FH)
Thanks. I just switched back to the default launcher and now it's working. Then I switched back to the custom launcher and installed the google contacts app. It's widget works with custom launcher aswell.

Is there any way to replace the touch wiz calender with the default android one? The touchwiz one only lets me set one reminder.

Not only that if/when you put in a location in the TouchWiz version and when you click on your appointment it would show you the location. When you click on the location it would bring up navigation. So now my location is kinda useless. Sure its useless unless you use it, but I would put in my Dr address and often I forget which street to turn on so it would navigate me there.
Here are the Google default calendar apks ripped from the N1 CM5 ROM
WARNING: These will replace your touchwiz calendar (the default one) and your phone could become unstable. I have not tested this, and I don't believe anyone else has. Make a nandroid backup before your try this (if you do)
Thanks! I will try it tomorrow when I wake up.
There is a thread on the I9000 board about this

Thanks! All these different versions of the phone make it hard to find these already created threads.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731822
It did it on mine following the instructions in that that thread.
It works just fine if you delete the TW calender and provider, ( I used Root Explorer) and then install the N1 version, but you will then loose a few of the Samsung widgets, like daily briefing, There is 1 or 2 more that use the calendar for input on the widget, so basically anything widget linked to the TW calendar will force close once you replace, but I think it is well worth it to have the stock calendar and widget back.
What if you are running something like launcherPro?
Hey guys,
I installed launcher pro on my phone and use it as my preferred launcher. However, even when the settings under dock are checked, I don't get a number letting me know I have a new text message over the icon in the dock. Is anyone else having this problem? If so, have you found a solution or is this something the developer has to fix? Thanks for the help
+1
Just installed LP and the dock notifications are not working.
I've got LauncherPro (Plus) on my GS2 and the notification icon is working for the text messages. I don't use the missed phone or gmail notifications. I also changed my dock shortcuts to the stock shortcuts and stock icons. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. I also use Handcent as my default messaging application and turn off notification bar notices for all but a few close contacts (daughter, hubby, etc.).
LPP is my default home app...
When I was using LPP (with custom icons), my notifications for all three stopped working after a while. I switched to Go Launcher EX with notifications, and they didn't work either. It's pretty damn annoying.
It was originally working for me as well. I read somewhere that Google had patched Gmail for security reasons but I forgot to disable updates on Gmail ... so I think when I did the mass app updates in Market that it broke it like it did last time on my HTC aria. I'm assuming we need the original apk now but I have a feeling we're screwed ... I don't want to revert to my cwm backup since I did so much tweaking since then but it may be the only way to get email notification to work again.

Okay I restored my stock rooted backup in cwm and almost immediately market tried downloading Gmail updates. I killed my data connection before it finished downloading and cleared market cache and data. I froze Gmail and started the market with data connection again ... so far I still have notification in Launcher Pro but who knows if there's a way to disable Gmail app updates in the future?

This is a problem that seems to occur only in ICS, but I don't know more than that. It didn't happen when I was running stock, stock/rooted, or Saurom. I'm using the Apex launcher but a quick Google search shows similar reports from people using Nova.
I'm running Flappjaxxx's ICS IMM76D UCLE2 Base (but I haven't updated to the new release that came out today). I've also noticed this on ICS Objection (with Apex launcher).
So, here's the issue: occasionally widgets will "Freeze" and stop updating. I've seen this with Beautiful Widgets (the clock will stop updating, so it will read 3:05 when it's actually 3:30), Android Pro Widgets (specifically the calendar and bookmark widgets--the calendar will not let you advance to different months, the bookmarks widget will not update to show new bookmarks if you refresh it), and the TweetCaster Pro widget (it will not update to show the latest tweets when you press the refresh button).
There is still some functionality with the widgets--they don't die completely. I can still touch the clock portion of Beautiful Widgets and get to the alarm settings. I can still touch individual days in the APW calendar widget and see appointments, and touch the header to launch the full calendar, and the APW Bookmarks widget is still scrollable, clicking individual bookmarks will launch those pages, and touching the header bar will launch the browser's default page. But for some reason they stop updating.
Things I know
1. Restarting Apex launcher appears to reset the widgets. They start fully functioning again.
That's about it.
RIght now I"m trying to determine if JuiceDefender might have something to do with it. I don't think it would because I've used JD on my other phones with no issues... HOWEVER, none of my other phones have ever run ICS. I don't know. Maybe ICS is different. I know JD had issues working with Gingerbread for a while...
Anyone have any thoughts? Questions? Experience with this? It's a bit mystifying. NOw that I know restarting Apex launcher gets everything working again it's a lot less annoying than it was (rebooting every time was a pain) but I'd still like to figure out how to make it go away.
I had same problem with beautiful widgets. my task killer was my problem.it was to aggressive

Same problem.
Have this problem both with Omega 7.0 rom and cyanogenmod.
Some widgets freezes after some minutes when phone is in standby mode.
Just by tilting the phone and let the window be landscape and then tilt it back again will activate the widget.
But it is annoying....
i had the same problem with widgets freezing; i uninstall go weather widget and go launcher and now it s fine again !!
edit: oops it came back...no freeze with Apex but it's still freezing with Tsf..
reedit: i found my problem: it was "clever contact widget "that froze the others widgets but only with TSF shell (not with Apex!!!)

i'm using a motorola atrix 2 with stock ics and this's happening to me also , it's not any app that's causing this problem , it's a bug in ics as to many .. searched gooogle .. no launcher can help , i tried nova prime and apex but same happens to both , but now i'm on stock blur again and it doesn't happen so frequently but still happens, they say that only google can help in this case , they have to give an update .. so we have to hopw that they'll give us one soon .. until then we have to restart the launcher
note- try an anlog clock on your home screen , or anlaog and digital both home screens in a one home screen , you might notice that digital clock freezes when the analog clock works fine , i don't know why but that's happening to me ..
Anyone using the Gmail widget and finding the widget doesn't show new mail, it just shows the mail that was there when the widget was added. (Gmail app itself is seeing the new mail, just the widget showing stale content).
Seems Sony's QA has fallen apart recently..
this is similar issue what i have reported on Sony talk forums ... some widgets just froze and dosnt want to update.
heh try to change language and then switch back, it will reload( ?) homelauncher and it gmail should work . give it a try ive spoted that on weather widget(non stock one) and it was working for a day or so :>
Changing the language made it refresh the widget, Will monitor it to see if it continues to update....
Hello,
A few days ago i updated to Nougat 7.0 via odin no wipe.
Today i decided to do a full wipe to fix some light issues i was having.
Since the full wipe i cannot get the stock Weather clock widget to work in Nova launcher, it doesn appear anymore in the widget list.
Beforehand it did.
Please Note the weather only stock widget is available just not the weather clock widget.
Does anyone have a solution?
Thank you
Jay
U need 2 add a weather source... Depending on ur ROM go to play store & 1st search for "Yahoo CM Weather" when found if it says ur device is not compatible u need to download something else... Take ur pick, AccuWeather, WeatherBug, etc... After install enable location 4 app, set up the weather app, then try adding the cLock widget again & weather option should be there now... Hope u get it working, that's how I got it working anyways

Hello
I tried and it didn't help. It only adds the app specific widget. I am looking for a way to use the Samsung stock weather/clock widget.
