Not a fair comparison.
Mi8 is only 1080p, while V30 is 1440p.
Mi8 does NOT have headset jack, while V30 has headset jack and quad DAC
Mi8 does NOT have Qi wireless charging, while V30 does have convenient Qi wireless charging.
Mi8 does NOT have any kind of IP rating, while V30 has IP68 dust/water resistance.
Mi8 does NOT have microSD expansion port -- while you can add up to 512GB microSD card. I have another 256GB card right now in my V30.
Mi8 does NOT have FM radio, while... well you know.

thanks chazz, i am aware of all those things, but on the flipside mi8 has a larger screen, a newer and more powerful sd845, more ram, 6gb,a state of art faceunlock along with a great 20mp front camera. and probably, not sure yet, but probably a better camera. and btw, that bump in resolution is not that big of a thing on a small display. after all, there are 100cm tvs with fullhd... hence my dilemma.

My 2014 60" (152cm) TV in my living room is 1080p. But then again it's not current 4K TV. If I bought a new TV it would be 4K, nothing less.
But I've had 1440p QHD on all my phones since 2014 and I consider that a "premium" feature -- along with Qi wireless charging (which I've had since 2013 on my phones, and my wife and I use every day).
I'm not downgrading features for a "new" phone. I'm making an obvious distorted comparison here, but a "new" economy car is not better than a 1-year old Lexus/Acura/BMW. Yes, the V30 probably should have had more RAM to future proof it more. But my V30 is not slow nor does it lag. Yes, the V30 probably should have had better selfie cam -- but it works well for what I use it for and the Oreo updates have brought improvements.
Phones like the MI8 (and especially OnePlus ilk) have too many missing features for me to even consider seriously. They have current CPU and RAM, but are not true "premium" phones that I would be proud to own. However, that is a personal choice.

yeah, i get your point, you are right. the v30 for sure is a very good phone. but you know what makes me angry? the fact that it could have been a great phone with some proper software updates. but lg is neglecting it big time . all other companies either have updated their devices or are updating them right now, while lg is nowhere with android 9.the mi8 has received not only android 9,but a few other small updates after that!!! just today i rwad that the g7, current flagship, will get android 9 update in Q1 2019, but only in korea!! imagine when the v30 will, if it will, get it!! and that makes very mad!

I have spent days facing the same dilemma
My new V30+ is on it's way
Things that won against Mi8 were: wide camera, design, DAC, IP68. These things were more important to me than newest chipset and more ram.
I seriously think this is still the biggest bang for a buck you can get, no phone is perfect but this one is pretty close.

The resolution alone is definitely a nice thing (1080p to 1440p) but I think it's still important to mention screen size or at least DPI (V30: 537, Mi8: 402).
Anyways, another point I think ChazzMatt didn't mention is the Mi is by Xiaomi... from China... and LG is from South Korea. This isn't necessarily due to the warnings from the US Government about spying or whatever it was but even if those concerns are untrue, I'd rather not assist the dictator of a communist state with anything if it can be reasonably avoided. Regardless of that, I have three speculations to what's going on with being able to give such products at such a low price:
Other companies just have unnecessarily high profit margins and Xiamoi is just doing things with less of a profit made.
Corners are being cut in manufacturing and/or quality control which may result in a phone which can't last very long since people tend to replace their phones every year (for some odd reason).
Or... it's really just the result of the poor labor practices/working conditions, extremely cheap wages and currency manipulation... among other things.
The first one is obviously not an issue. It just means companies like LG are making more of a profit than "necessary" to present a phone to consumers. The second one is a potential issue assuming you want your phone to last but obviously just "potential" as it's possible for things to exit China which are made well and have good QC (like some pocket knives). The third one is similar to the point about assisting China.
I think it's clear these considerations are largely based on principle, much like how people often prefer to buy US-made products instead of products made elsewhere.
I also agree the V30 is an amazing bang for the buck phone, especially when you buy the V30+ and convert it and/or get an "open box" kind of "phone only" deal.

Lol my Chinese born and raised tech friend says its [3] 9/10 times. He is terrified of Xiaomi and Huawei XD. He calls the Chinese govt, Huawei and Xiaomi goblins in reference to the anime Goblin slayer

You can read my lg v30 review, lg v30 have a lot advantage plus its cheaper for 2nd/refurbish one. The only advantage is the mi 8 is only three :
Speedy update with android pie
Nav gesture built in miui
ir face camera unlock, unlock speedy in the dark or lowlight when you are using face unlock
the list for lg v30 advantage is too long, read all above post

Want to buy V10 or Nexus 6P?

I want to buy a phone, but don't know which one. Can you guys help me with this.
Send with the App Tapatalk
Ultimately it's up to you. Everyone uses their phones differently and there are differing wants and needs for each person. No amount of convincing will help you. Just look at the pros and cons of both devices and make your best judgment.
the 6p is a much better phone if you enjoy pure android
that said, if you prefer an SD card and top shelf hardware, and don't mind the LG UI overlay, it's a very nice option as well
The big problem, imo, is there is no place currently in a store where you can compare Nexus 6P and LG V10. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Both devices are pretty awesome. Both cameras are pretty awesome. Both have fingerprint security. Both have pretty awesome screens, but it's really up to you whether you like Samsung AMOLED screens or LGs LCD.
Nexus has Octa-core Snapdragon 810 version 2 with Adreno 430.
LG has hexacore Snapdragon 808 with Adreno 418 ( which is half speed of Adreno 420 found in Snapdragon 805. Reason for this is Unknown to me)
LG has base 64GB memory, Nexus is 32GB, 64GB, or 128GB. You pay a premium for the increase.
LG has microsd slot and if you get it before November 15 you get a free 200GB microsd card if you live in one of the participating countries.
Nexus has no expandable storage.
And if course, Nexus will get Google system OS updates d soon as they are released.
LG has to go through carrier approval _ if you bought it on Carrier _ before OS updates are released.
Great comparison above.
I have both and actually really enjoy the V10. The 6P is kind of like "eh" to me. I love the fingerprint sensor on the 6P over the V10
V10: microSD slot, removable battery, awesome camera (and app for taking pics). The 2nd screen is weird, but can be useful sometimes. 32-bit DAC if you are big into audio. You can double tap to wake and sleep the display. You can do split screen apps or make some apps small windows (including the entire display to make everything reachable).
6P: pure Android so faster updates, front facing speakers, very nice fingerprint sensor (I get many "retry" on the V10 as it's not as perfectly located as the 6P is for me). USB Type-C (new but nice to not worry about which way it needs to face to plug in). Marshmellow is nice.

If you listen to a lot of your own music and have nice headphones then V10 is a no brainer. It has an ESS Dac/Amp that sounds amazing and can power some very hungry headphones. The consumer reviews of the headphone audio on the 6p in some other forums is absolutely abysmal. Not only does it have very low volume output but the sound is sub-par.

Lucky dog!
From a quality/durability standpoint? LG V10
There are a lot of great points here. The pros for the V10 are obvious as stated. Removable microSD card, battery, 64GB Internal, 4GB RAM, 2nd Display etc....
However, a point to consider as well is the build quality. IMO I would much prefer a device made in S.Korea over china any day. Again, if those of you that don't know what IMO means = In My Opinion. For me I find it important to buy something you don't have to worry about possibly/easily breaking. That would be a waste and not practical.
This is why I wouldn't buy a cheap chinese made phone. It's not all about the looks....there's no innovation or decent engineering at all. Just pure copies with an enticing exterior and hardware slapped together to make it look appealing. Keep in mind that they can get away with cheap knock off type of products over there because they have their market along with India's who will buy it. Now that they are trying to dance in the US market, guess what? There's something called rules, ethics, integrity, patents, copyright laws etc... So what huawei along with other cheap chinese knock off companies did was to basically make their devices, "just good enough," to meet the regulations in order to enter the US market. It's no secret and it's just how it is with their style of business.
From a structural and quality stand point in addition to all the great points being made....
I'll leave it at that....
Buy the LG V10.

Sent from my pretty nifty brand new LG V10
Early simplistic rankings of the 3 (MXPE, 6P, V10)
Display:V10,MXPE,6P
Camera (Pictures, no videos yet): V10, 6P (barely ahead of MXPE), MXPE
Sound (External): MXPE,6P,V10
Sound (Internal): MXPE, V10, 6P (most surprising)
Feel in hand:6P,MXPE, V10
Fingerprint:6P, V10.....
Notifications:MXPE,6P,V10
Battery:6P,V10,MXPE
Charging:Tie with V10/MXPE..the Moto charger works with V10 very well, 6P
Visual appeal: MXPE (Ash Charcoal Wood back is sexy), V10, 6P
Speed Opening Apps: 6P, V10, MXPE
Lag (Lack of): 6P/V10 tie, MXPE
Told my wife I will probably keep all 3 (Moto is out of return window but other 2 are returnable)
BUT if i had to keep one.....V10, with MXPE a close 2nd and 6P a veryvery close 3rd. In other words, you can't go wrong with either of them.
BTW, if MXPE could shoot raw or had camera2api and a fingerprint scanner, it would be my choice easily. Thats all its missing really from being the perfect phone for me (I know some will say wireless charge and maybe longer battery but turbo charging is beautiful)

I really like the clean OS just like the 6P. But I hear allot from others that the 6p doesn't have any macro closeup option.. Soo my question how is the Closeup photos? How is the focus on closeup?

Are you asking me? 10 days before my return window of the V10 is up. So 10 days of being able to use them side by side
Depends on what is most important to you. SD card & removable battery are top priority for me. I usually keep my phones 2 years and you will need a new battery in that time I used to be all about Vanilla Android, but on my Note just rooted, Uninstalled bloatware & installed the root apps I required. I ran Rooted Stock. On T Mobile, I think the bootloader is unlocked and you can root. As long as the phone is rootable, you can always get updates.
I wanted a 6P, my decision was made for me by the lack of availability any time soon if a 6P, removable battery, and finally an SD card.

Perfection? Release date?

Is this as close to the perfect smartphone as you can get? It checks every single box for me, all the right ideas in the right ways. And did you see that blue version? Salivating...
I know it's early, but has anyone heard anything about the release date? I think I really need this one
September 21st in Korea then a bit later in other countries i heard?
I may very well preorder this one. I have an LG G3 and love it. If only the V30 gets root will I buy.
Looks great. I would have liked to see 6GB of RAM for a bit more future proofing. Also, I'd like to see LG more friendly wrt bootloader unlocking... but that's not really a criticism of this phone specifically.
If this is $5 cheaper than Pixel XL 2, I'm going for it considering it can be rooted. This could easily give the new Pixel a run for it's money if cheaper.
Echoing all your sentiments. I'm excited.
Anyone have experience regarding LG and how developer/custom ROM-friendly their phones are?

They lock down the BL on most models but there is usually always one model thats unlockable.
The trick is buying the correct model so you dont get stuck with one that you cant even root. I think the only G6 worth buying was the H870 intl version all the other BLs were not unlockable ( dont quote me on that lol).
The V30 has my attention for sure...may go with it over the note 8 but all pending an unlockable bootloader.

Excited for the LG V30! Get the International Version Single SIM , it will surely get root and more community support. This is in the case for most LG flagships.

The phone looks good, but I'd like to have in this phone these things:
1- UFS 2.1, the phone has UFS 2.0
2- Stereo speakers
3- 6 GB of rams
And finally better front camera. The phone's front camera has just 5 MP and f/2.2, this is so disappointing.

I didn't read the site unfortunately, I just read the specs from IFA. I will check the specs from LG site. Thanks for intention.
I want this phone especially because of the F/1.6 Lens aperture (yeah, I always look at the spec sheet and camera is important for me as I take lots of photos). But, as noted on this site that it appears to be F/1.69! hopefully it is only a firmware issue that Lg will fix. If indeed it is F/1.69 then I will pass. I await for word from LG on what is the real story. I know you can't round off F1.69 to F/1.6 and hopefully it is just a screwup in either the the testing software or phone firmware.
Well, it seems that LG has confirmed that it is indeed f/1.6 lense and most likely the units tested were pre-release without updated firmware and software. Good. I will buy!

Considering the price, these are things they should have done. Both Samsung, Huawei, OnePlus and a few others have 6GB RAM models and ufs 2.1 for same price or significantly cheaper.
Will we recognize ufs 2.0 vs 2.1 in day to day? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Who's to say. But the 6Gb of RAM vs 4Gb will definitely be felt.

Yes, I would like 6GB RAM and front-facing stereo speakers. With everything else, this phone would then be perfect. This phone is what the LG G6 should have been. None of that stupid "regionalized" specs crap, where no country got Qi wireless, quad DAC, and extra storage.
Glad LG is being sane and keeping the headset jack.

All of us are pretty much thinking alike, so not sure why LG didn't also think of this? I don't understand some OEMs. They never want to make the "perfect" phone, when they easily could.

Wait for the U.S. and European carrier unlocked versions to be released. Those are eligible for bootloader unlock. Do NOT buy a carrier-branded LG V30 if you care about bootloader unlock, root, TWRP, custom kernels, ROMs...

While we started out thinking about the HTC U11 and LG V30 existing in much the same universe, as we start looking at individual features we keep spotting little way after little way that LG's phone feels like the superior, more functional, more polished handset. Compared to the U11, the V30 offers an analog headphone jack, has a bigger battery, supports wireless charging, and plenty other things that are simply lacking or are less well-done on the U11.

V30 or Pixel

So far they look about even in hardware specs and while the US998 model will likely feature an unlockable bootloader, is it worth it compared to the Pixel's dev support?

Pixel XL 2017 won't have headset jack, reportedly. Even though Google made fun of Apple for dropping theirs, and even though LG can do IP68 WITH a headset jack while Apple (so far, with iPhone 7) can only do IP67 without one.
There's really NO reason to drop the headset jack. You STILL have Bluetooth -- even with headset jack -- if you want to use ear pods or whatever. It's not either/or. Just like Qi wireless charging. I use Qi wireless when I can, but yeah sometimes I plug in. It's nice to have both options.
If dev support is you number one priority Pixel will always be the better choice. However you seem to be loosing so many features by going with the Pixel.
Depends what's important to you.
Audio: HiFi audio and headphone jack important then the V30 is the only real option
Camera: Manual mode, features and wide angle or a likely excellent auto camera?
Storage: Expandable storage yes or no.
Look and design: I think the V30 is a nce looking device the Pixel not 100% sure yet.
OS: Is stock android and faster update important to you? Same with dev support.
I don't think it that hard once you think about what's important to you. For me it's the V30 over the pixel all day.

Won't have Qi wireless charging, I would bet.
Probably no quad DAC either.
Therefore, no thanks.

Yes, the U.S. and European carrier unlocked versions will be eligible for official LG bootloader unlock. REAL bootloader unlock, not the "faux" bootloader unlock the T-mobile LG G6 got. Six months later there's still no root nor TWRP nor custom ROMs that can be flashed on T-mobile LG G6, while there's tons of dev work on the U.S. and European "carrier unlocked" LG G, which got REAL bootloader unlock.
You can check the list here and it will be updated when the LG V30 carrier unlocked versions are released.
LG Developer - Unlock Bootloader -Supported Devices
http://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev?categoryId=CTULRS0703
The U.S. carrier unlocked version will be LG V30 US998.USA
And yes the "carrier unlocked" LG G6 US998 will have LTE band 71. T-mobile confirmed it.
Google Pixel 1 was a retarded device (see nexus 6 design, it was 100 times better and with less bezels)
Google pixel 2 seems to be retarded also, BUT Pixel 2 XL seems to have a nice design with small bezels but no audio jack HAHA (copying apple eh?)
If they don't put something like dual camera wide angle, front facing autofocus 2/4k camera and super mega large battery, then they can keep that thing;
still here in europe they don't sell pixel 1, so no one will give a **** about pixel 2

They are selling well. They've always had an issue with 3rd party audio apps streaming Bluetooth with the track data to other devices though - For me at least. Audio volume and quality is something I dislike with Samsung too. And for the s8 and s8+,I hate bixby and that stupid dedicated button. I don't have the need to talk to a virtual assistant. /rant
I'd go with Pixel XL 2. It it will always be running latest OS. However if you care about camera and audio then V30 is the way to go. For me the pixel xl had a great camera and Pixel XL 2 will excell that. Nothing to worry about. I love the design of the V30 however long term use the Pixel XL 2 is a definitely better option. I'm currently using the XZ Premium which I'm very happy with coming from Samsung. My next phone would be pixel though. Also you might want to wait for the Mate 10 which would be another beast.
I'm sort of torn between Pixel XL2 and LG V30. If you want dev support, Pixel all the way. There is no way to know in which circumstances the V30 will get an unlockable bootloader.
Coming from a Xperia Z2 and later a Xperia Z5, I have a bitter taste in my mouth. If you unlocked your bootloader, you'd delete your TA partitions (which enabled Sony's propriatery camera functions). So despite selling amazing camera hardware to many phone companies, and supposedly using the best on their own phones, you'd get a ****ty camera performance when you had a rooted phone.
LG makes me quite cautious on this matter. Yes we have a 1.6" aperture which will let in more light in dark conditions, but we have a smaller sensor as well. Instead of hardware developments we see a lot of software -gimmicks or features- however you'd want to name them. If i lose any of those features/gimmicks on an open bootloader on a custom rom, or a different camera app I'd be furious. I don't want a locked down and forced software covering bad quality (like Samsung's over saturation of everything, not that they have bad hardware) Pre-release software V30's don't always seem to be doing fantastic on image processing (and sometimes they're amazing) and even though they are pre-release specimens I'd hate to have another gamble with this.
Pixel on the other hand, seems like it'll have a huge sensor. That'll be hard to **** up with software (even though it was Pixels amazing camera firmware that gave it those amazing shots). Honestly, I don't care about a second camera on my phone. I want a proper main camera and thats it. IF and only IF my phone is going to have two cameras, I'd like to have them in "Wide>Monochrome>telephoto" order. IF i have to. That is why I'm going with the V30 and not the Note8 (that, and the 6" sweet spot on the small bezel screens. Anything below 6" seems to narrow, and anything above 6" seems too big and a waste of battery considering the smaller batteries they come with because of the smaller body)
I love the Quad DAC, and I love the headphone jack, but I'd rather have a stereo speaker setup. I often find myself connecting to my car bluetooth or a bluetooth speaker if I'm on a camp or something. Hell I'll just keep a pair of wireless headphones on me. Which is why I don't lament the loss of a replacable battery. I have tons of rechargeable items on me at any time now. So I'd rahter just carry a powerbank and charge anything, instead of replace the battery on my phone.
Wireless charging is one of those things where you don't know how much you needed them until you have them. So I'd like that as well.
I can go forever on this. (I feel like I already have)
So to sum it up:
Dev support: Pixel
Multimedia consumption/creation: V30 (unless the camera ****s up massively)
For me it'll be V30 most likely, for the DAC and jack (and then design). One of the unlocked ones, so that hopefully I can root and get rid of whatever bloat it comes with and restore it to the closest stock experience possible. I'm not too hopeful on custom ROMs though as I think the DAC won't be supported for some time (will it ever? not sure the V20 ROMs ever got it?).

Yes there is. The U.S. and European "carrier unlocked" LG V30 versions will be eligible for bootloader unlock, just like with LG G6, V20, LG V10, LG G5, LG G4, etc.
Go look at this pattern:
http://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev?categoryId=CTULRS0703
And stay away from carrier stores. T-Mobile proved with the LG G6 and Samsung models this year they are no longer dev friendly.
But I do agree with your other comments about no stereo speakers. LG missed an opportunity.
I also agree about Qi wireless charging. I won't buy a phone without it.

I did read your original post regarding this, and makes a lot of sense.
What I meant to say was that we don't know if we'll lose any functionality by unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom rom. I say this because of my history with the Xperia Z series. I know LG didn't do something like this before, but there was a lot of software focus on the presentation. Some of it might be tied down to LG's original rom.
The lack of stereo speakers in such an audio-centric device bother me a lot honestly. I mean there is already a speaker placed up there for calls. Just make it a little higher in quality. Sure it won't be boomsound unless they spend more money on it and lose profits, but we'd atleast be able to understand where a certain sound is coming from. A ton of songs use stereo effects, let alone videos.
And as a last point, we don't have carrier-branded phones where I live so I'm safe on that regard. But like you said, if we had them, I wouldn't touch them with a ten feet pole.

Ah, I mis-read your post then. "There is no way to know in which circumstances the V30 will get an unlockable bootloader", I thought you meant which situations LG would allow it. You meant what complications would come with that.
You are correct. Last year, the ZTE Axon 7 -- the one with the award-winning quad DAC and excellent front-facing speakers (cough, LG should have done that) -- made a decision to have a user-unlocked bootloader. BUT ZTE kept their quad DAC code under lock and seal. It was proprietary. So, while users could root the phone, with CM/Lineage custom ROM, there were lots of audio issues for months. Audio was badly distorted. Finally CM/LOS dev and others got that distortion under control, but I'm still not sure they are able to let custom ROMs use the quad DAC the way the stock firmware does. (I stopped keeping track about six months ago.)
As a result, many users stuck with stock firmware for best experience. Yes, it could still be rooted, and yes there's Gravity Box you can use with stock firmware so you can use the quad DAC functionality. And yes the ZTE Axon 7 still had the exact same 5.5" AMOLED 1444p display the Pixel XL had. But you lost all that great audio functionality if you installed custom ROM. (At least for several months, I don't know the current situation.)
So, you are right. There's tons of magic in this LG V30 (audio and camera), but depending on if LG lets devs have access to that, it's possible custom ROM experience would suffer.
Feels like the whole Nexus 5 vs LG G2 saga all over again.
I had both and while the Nexus 5 was way smoother than the G2, the G2 was by far the better phone as they cut way too many corners on the Nexus 5. :crying:
Will be interesting to see how this one pans out.
Personally, I'd go for the V30. Don't buy this whole, "Courage," crap and bet the battery in the Pixel 2 wont be as good as the V30. Thinking about USB type C, if only they'd designed the port to be round.

LG G6 worth the money at this time? July 2018

Hello, Im currently considering buying the LG G6 becouse it is around 310 Euros here. And in this price Range i dont see anything good for this price. I like the Wide angle camera and i saw also that it got Oreo update.
I was looking up for the Oneplus 6 or VG30 which is also 500 Euros. But considering that i will change any phone in 2 years... Dont wanna spend more than 400

Definitely not worth it. Better go for a phone with Snapdragon 660 or 710....
well, as last comment sayd better go with some SD710, if you can wait you can buy a Xiaomi Mi8 SE with SD710 for more 50 dollars more with better specs.
For me it's the best smartphone in this price range. Everything is at least very good, with no downsides.
My girlfriend bought it to replace her iphone after trying mine and she is truly happy with it.
I won't ever spend more than 300-350€ in a phone, because the increase in price is not worth it. And there's no better option. I won't buy a Xiaomi phone because its poor software. Also the Mi8 SE has no ip68, no radio fm, no 3,5 mm jack, no sd card slot, smaller battery... And we'll see what reviews says about its display or camera.

Poor software?! i mean, is not poor, is less intuitive, but with MIUI 10 around the corner it will be better, and feature wise Xiaomi is way better than LG, i can tell you because i already have some Xiaomi's to play for a week or twoo and you can see in my phone history i already have a lot of LG phones and i can tell you:
If LG put half (right, half) of the features of Xiaomi have i can be more happy. LG have some advantages like microSD, better camera, better screen and design...its about that only, nothing more impress with G6, with Xiaomi (and i am talking about mid to high end Xiaomi's) you experience is a lot better even tho the things is a little bit unorganized, spread all around settings and its hard to find some things sometimes but its OK.
I bought my G6 a moth ago, and i am happy...but now i go to store, play around with Mi MIX 2 and compare it to my G6 (at the time i can get both for around 350) and now, if time could be pushing back i chose Mi MIX 2 over G6...but i can live with G6 anyway.
Its my opinion, you make your choise, i just say my experience with both brands...
Sure MicroSD card is a must have for some people (me too) but you can learn to live without...trust me, like IR Blaster and HiFI DAC, my V10 have that and i can live without that with G6 (the featureless phone i have for a long time).
Well speaking of software it's always subjective, but for me it's very bothering that MIUI is too intrusive. I mean for example, I had a lot of problems trying to set Signal as default messing app instead the built in one. It kept auto changing back to default from time to time.
Xiaomi is always very good overall for its price, but right now I don't think there is a phone more complete than G6 for its price.
if softwer update is not important for you i suggest you buy a G6 its better for you buy a H870 Eu model or US997 if u are in usa this two models are officialy bootloader unlocked and get better software updates and dont buy dualsim one at all advantages of G6 : main camera is pretty good , screen quality is very good at this price better than iphone i compared with my friend , u can experince a good sensation with UX6 interface of G6 , some one say that this phone has battry drain but my phone does not have this problem , just only thing i dont like it is selfi camera and at last i can tell u this phone is very good at this price i tell u again if softwer update is not important to u close ur eyes and buy a G6
No one has mentioned the G6 has a flat screen with no curves. This makes tempered glass installation really easy and you get full protection. Otherwise the phone is really good. My wife's has not given her any trouble.
Well I can get the Eu Version and it has Oreo. And I was thinking if it get poor Software update I can flash it manualy. I even have this conspiracy in my head that after some point the companies like Samsung send you some cool improvment update which for Example drains your Battery on purpose. From the G6 i am expecting normal to good Battery life and some cool Photos. I saw that with Google Camera there is better Quality. And yes i do want the 3.5mm jack and Im looking for a phone to carry me 2 years. But I just dont see good Mid Range Phones for Max. 400 Euros Also I have Samsung S9 in my hands that i got from my new contract but I will try to sell it for 500 becouse it has The Battery draining Exynos Version.

THIS ! I'm sick of searching for screen protectors for curved glass screens. They never cover full surface nor look good after installation.
I regret at times, try to avoid
Software updates sucks, lags a lot, it feels like snapdragon 600 series processor (I have 20-25 off apps).
Camera at the back is amazing, front camera is pathetic(although u can download google camera, but still front camera sucks in most of the siltation)
Battery is very ok. 3.5 hrs screen on time. I would definitely not suggest. I was so frustrated with battery and lagging issues i bought a secondary phone (redmi note 5 pro and it is wayy better)
Audio output is ok compared to other mid range phone of 2018. Although screen is good but not great in 2018
Try buying from aliexpress, MI Mix 2/2s are extremely good phones and it does not look as copy of iphone x as well.

You can always change software. Most of the xiaomi phones have a custom rom/software. As a senior member, you should know that I always change my rom when i hate stock one. I dont know about you, but i dont throw phones out because of firmware (except iphones and windows based phones xD).
Or should i get me the V30 for 200 euros more (500 total) I really want this Wide Camera and good Battery life. Altho v30 is a little bit to big for my hands.
I'm going to join in as I'm looking to buy a new phone. I was almost convinced that I would buy LG G6 but I just browsed G6 rom development forums and wow it's pretty stall. My current Galaxy S4 has more options inluding LOS 15,1.
I was also looking at Honor 10 but then I found out that Huawei blocks bootloaders so it's a no no for me.
Seems like XIAOMI phones have really solid community and plenty of roms to chose from.
Xiaomi MI6 and mentioned here Xiaomi MI8 SE look really great but they lack a few features I would like to have such us 3,5 mm jack, SD card slot.
Not sure what to do now I kind of not want to be stuck with LG G6 running stock Android 8,1 for another 2-3 years.

Any OnePlus phone is a quite significant downgrade from what you have now.
* No headset jack
* no quad DAC (since no headset jack)
* no 1440p QHD - - only 1080p. I've had 1440p OLED since 2014. Why would I ever go back to something less?
* no IP68. (Actually, NO IP rating whatsoever. In 2018 this is ridiculous for an alleged top tier phone.)
* no Qi wireless charging (which I've had since 2012, and even Apple finally has on their phones).
* no microSD card slot
LG V30, G7, V40 has ALL those features, OnePlus 6T does NOT.
OnePlus is not a premium phone. They are not a top-tier phone, they are are a pretender.
LG V30, LG G7 or LG V40 are both better than stupid OnePlus, if you want to change phones for some reason. However I HATE the notch.
In my opinion V30 is still about the best phone out there -- especially if you throw in universal bootloader unlock and root. Has all those features above, and no notch.
Personally, I'm sticking with this phone for at least another year for when the notch craze dissipates.

And I can buy a new Kia for less than a new Honda/Toyota. (My Honda Accord has 300,000 miles on it.) A stale bun convenience store hot dog will cost less than a restaurant prime rib dinner. So what? What will I proud of, what will I remember?
You currently have a premium phone, arguably the BEST phone from 2017 (with Samsung Note 8 as close second).
If you didn't have a phone, desperately needed ANY phone, yeah go buy the OnePlus. And then get a better phone when you can. But with something like the V30 in hand, I would never trade it for a OnePlus.
So, I guess unless I go to the G7 or V40, I'd be downgrading?

1+ is a welfare phone with a high price tag.
Not sure why people even get this device. 1+ acts like it has flagship specs while not even ACTUALLY offering flagship specs.what? Top of the line chip and more RAM that amounts to diminishing returns. All you actually need is 3gb worth of RAM. It's not a damn PC. 1+ cuts all the wrong corners. Look at the res of their screens.
If you want all the pros and cons of 1+ I'll give it to you. Just know there is 10X more cons then pros.

Exactly. The OnePlus advertising motto is "Never Settle" -- yet that's EXACTLY what you are doing when you buy a OnePlus phone. You are settling for a phone with no premium features. Literally all it has is current Snapdragon and RAM. Plenty of phone have that PLUS MORE.
I want Qi wireless charging.
For me, that's the line in the sand.
I want 1440p.
I've had that since 2014, I"m not going back to lesser resolution. All top-tier Android phones have had that since late 2014. Motorola, Samsung, LG, Sony, HTC, etc. And all Google Nexus/Pixel phones, starting with the 2014 Nexus 6. For OnePlus STILL NOT to have it in 2018 shows how amateurish they really are.
I want high IP rating.
My last phone (2014) was "water resistant", but all top-tier phones since 2017 have a high IP rating -- IP67 or IP68. Apple, Google, Motorola, Samsung, LG, Sony, HTC, etc. For OnePlus NOT to have it shows how amateurish they really are.
I want headset jack.
I just do. Sure I can ALSO use wireless earbuds if I want -- all Android phones have Bluetooth -- but do NOT take that option away from me just because you want to save some money making my phone. Quad DAC is bonus.
I want microSD card.
I've had some phones without it (2011 Nexus, 2014 Moto Quark), but I prefer it.
OnePlus' advertising motto is just bunk designed to counter what you are thinking if you really compared features and specs to real premium phones. OnePlus is never going to offer anything better than Oppo, their parent company offers. Until Oppo has a 1440p phone or Qi wireless charging, OnePlus will not. So, they lie "never settle" -- when they have obviously settled themselves.
I'm thinking about going to an iphone Xr and keeping my v30 to play with.

Because you are tired of the headset jack, quad DAC, 1440p QHD, microSD slot on your V30?
iPhone XR has 828p --just over half of 1440p. It's actually categorized at "720p", because until you reach "full HD" 1080p, it's only crossed the 720p HD threshold and is still in that territory. LOTS of "720p" monitors/devices are really over 720p, but are still called "720p" until they reach at least 1080p.
Here you go: LG V30 vs iPhone XR vs LG V35 - SPECS. The only thing wrong they have is the storage. V30+ has 128GB + microSD card, but I they don't have V30+ in the database.
The only thing Apple has over OnePlus is the IP rating and now Qi wireless charging. In the Android specs world, an Apple phone is almost mid-tier.
Nope, not at all. That's why I said "keeping the v30 to play with." The Xr would be my daily beater.

I would grab a V40 or a Samsung. Both come with SD card slots. Samsung doesn't have a quad dac though.

They want $200 up front to jump to the V40 or Samsung.

I guess I don't understand. My V30 phone is my daily phone. I also have ANOTHER V30 to play around with.
But my "best" phone is going to be the phone I use all the time. I'm never going to tell people "oh but you should see the phone I have back at home!"
I want the phone I have in hand to have the best specs. "oh, I can't watch that video until I get back home!"
I'm never going to have a lesser phones as my daily phone. Especially as one as locked down as iPhone.

I agree with everything you said. Ordering another v30.
Agree with the replies ++. Why anyone would consider 1+ is beyond me.
I have been Samsung since 2011. SGS, S2, then all of the following on release date - S3, Note 2, Note 3, S6E+, S7E, S8+. One week with my v30 and delighted. Audio was my biggest consideration and this more than meets my needs. Everything else is a pleasant bonus. And very good.
I don't consider it a downgrade at all. And whatever happens, I'm never ever getting a [email protected][email protected]÷= notch on any device ever.

2018 Samsung Note 9 or Galaxy S9/S9+:
* does NOT have the notch
* has headset jack
* has current Snapdragon
* has 1440p OLED
* has Qi wireless charging
* has IP68 rating.
Any of those three would be preferable to OnePlus crap. You don't have quad DAC, but they're all better than OnePlus 6T.
I still prefer the late 2017 LG V30, as it's a better size than those - - but I would take them before OnePlus 6T.
I would even buy the 2018 LG V35 (similar to the G7, but no notch) and try to make it work for me before OnePlus. V35 is basically updated V30.

Because you're buying a real premium phone with either of those. However, come Christmas they'll probably have some better deals.

*Probably can't even root yet
*Likely will never have bootloader unlocked
You get what you pay for

If you mean the LG V35, yes. However, all the Samsungs I listed have root -- at least the Exynos versions do. Not that I am recommending any of the Samsungs over the V30. I'm just pointing out OTHER flagship phones that have more features than OnePlus.
I took most of a year to research what phone would replace my 2014 Moto Quark (Moto Maxx, the international version of the Droid Turbo, which had all the AT&T LTE bands). I deeply examined every flagship phone coming out in 2017. V30 wasn't even on my list when I started, because I wasn't enamored of the V line. I wanted LG to make an LG G6, as good as they made the LG G2, and LG G3 before they went off the rails. But LG failed with the 2017 LG G6 by implementing an idiotic regionalized specs scheme -- where no LG G6 would get ALL the listed specs, plus they were using 2016 Snapdragon. The V30 then ended up being what the LG G6 should have been and was the perfect phone for me.
Part of the inherent problem with Original Poster is he seems to only be looking for T-mobile phones and he's buying on contract. I've NEVER bought on contract and the last phones I bought from a carrier were 2010/2011. Since then, I've bought straight from Google, imported from other countries, bought from OEM. I've been on AT&T since 2012 but never have owned an AT&T-branded phone.
The V30 has only been out a year, and right now I don't see anything better out there. I kept my 2014 Moto Quark for three years for the same reason. And there are Droid Turbo (Moto Quark) users in here who can back me up on that. In 2014 it was a beast of a machine (3GB RAM, 1440p OLED, 3900 mAh battery, 21MP camera, Qi wireless charging, etc), and only by 2017 when Snapdragon 835 came along, plus fingerprint sensors, plus IP ratings was there phones "good enough" to replace the Moto Quark (Droid Turbo, Moto Turbo, Moto Maxx).
But I didn't want to lose any hardware features I already had. Headset jack, 1440p OLED, Qi wireless charging, etc. The V30 has all that and more -- including microSD card. Plus of course bootloader unlock and root. Which is why I bought the B&H Photo "open market" that was supposedly guaranteed that, instead of any carrier model that would not. Yes, we now have WTF bootloader unlock and root, but we didn't have that when I bought mine.
Since I've had my v30, I honestly haven't had any reason to root it. What are you guys obtaining from rooting?
