Has anyone had experience with a warranty claim for the LG V30? The USB-C port is loose and doesn't make a good connection if the cable is at an angle. I'm afraid they'll claim it was my fault and then either charge me to fix it, or charge to send it back as is.

When i charge my htc and put the cable in the phone i have to lift the charging cable the end bit slightly before it starts charging otherwise it dosent charge
well its pretty obviously gonna be the cable or the socket, got a spare cable or a friend with one? maybe a phone shop will let you try one?
i have a generic cable that has started doing that whilst my normal cable doesn't.
its not the cable my dad has the same phone and it works fine im thinking a bent pin, how much could it cost to fix
very expensive to fix - normaly its a new board, you may be better off buying a battery charger on ebay and just swopping out the batteries when needed, its a rubbish solution but its a warranty fail imho
try giving the socket a detailed clean with a toothbrush, maybe a careful poke with a toothpick (howls of "noooo" from the purists), focus not so much on the pins but build up of dust dirt at the bottom.
helped for some people with usb issues before.
Is anyone else having issues with their charging port? If I move my phone a certain way it will stop charging. I then have to wiggle the USB cord to get it to charge again.
Should I call Verizon?
I have not had any issues, but it sounds more like worn out from wear-and-tear problem. You could ask Verizon, since we should still have our warranties intact.
My G5 H850 died after 3 months. I just got it back and they replaced the mainboard and battery under warranty. Now it wont quick charge with my original LG charger and cable OR my Anker Quick Charge 3 charger. It never says "Quick Charging", it was fine before. I have voltage \ current monitors connected to all my chargers, I think it used to get up to 7v @ 1.5A on my Anker QC3, now it's 5v @ 1A or less! I removed the voltage \ current monitors to see if they were affecting the charge rate but it still never Quick Charges.
Have they disabled it because of hardware issues?
might be a component issue but I can confirm my phone is fine with v10d firmware
Thanks.
I have v10d too. There's definitely no way to disable it in software? I've looked in all menus including developer options.
I'm going to buy a new type-c cable to see if anything happened in the 3 weeks the phone was broken \ away for repair even though I've tried 3 cables already.
I just noticed none of my OTG USB memory sticks work either! Phone goes into a loop asking what to do with the USB connection. Looks like LG fitted another faulty mainboard FFS. I'll have to send it back for 3 weeks then spend a full day reloading apps and setting it up when it comes back. Getting a bit annoyed tbh.
I have only been able to get fast-charging working with an Amazon USB-A to USB-C cable and the original LG charger. I tried an "Archeer" charger with USB A and USB C and neither would fast-charge, and I have an Anker charger here that won't fast-charge with the cable that came with it or my 3m CableCreation USB-C to USB-C cable. I have never got USB-C to USB-C fast-charging working.
Do LG sell their own cables for this? I'll buy one if that's what it takes. I'm on v10d but I want v10e.
I have several qc chargers, choetech and aukey, 6 way, normal mains, car, power bank and they all work and say fast charging.
I suspect there is some wrong with your usb data pins, they are used to negotiate qc. Obviously also needed for otg. Probably a pc connection wont work either. You could try cleaning the port, other than that I'd say it needs to go back
Hello,
One day my tab stopped charging from the magnetic cable.
Whenever i plug-in, i get a blinking light and the battery light on status-bar goes on and off, ultimately not charging. The cable still charges my Z1.
Factory reset didn't help either.
Sometimes it hapens to me too.
My conclusion is that it is a matter of bad contact between tablet and the magnetic connector.
Cleaned up the connector with alcohol. Thankfully it's still under warranty.
Sony RMA the device and gave me a new one. Old one was 16gb , this one is 32gb. Win - win
The problem returns with the new device! Took it around 2 weeks but this tab stopped charging aswell, over the magnetic interface.
Wth is going on.
I never had this issue with the original Sony charging cradle, but I noticed it when charging via cable using a smartphone charger. If the charger does not have at least 250 mA, it goes on and off. Is your magnetic charger an original Sony device?
Well after two weeks the issue reappeared. Dont know if the power is sufficient or not, but then how come it worked with original device AND replacement device.
I know this forum is probably dead a long time ago (years?), but ill take a shot and ask a supplementary question.
The Sony service denies fixing my tablet, citing the cause of problem the non-Sony magnetic cable as the fault.
Ive been using the magnetic cable on my Z1 phone for almost 2 years now with no issues. I dont understand how the cable can **** up the Tablet.
Are they legally valid not to repair my device free of charge (its within the warranty period) ?

I wouldn't have told them I was using a different cable, but yeah they can deny service. Technically, they have to prove that your aftermarket device loosened the port, but I'm sure they've tested it at this point since so many people had the same issue. On the other hand, this also compromises the waterproof ratings.
The issue is the port gets hot and the adhesive weakens. Aftermarket magnetic docks have stronger magnets that yank the charging port right out. Honestly it's a stupid design defect and there should have been more than adhesive, you can try that task with customer service.
You can remove the magnetic charging port and replace the small adhesive strip with a suitable thin high temp doublestick adhesive. I've considered epoxy as well but haven't pulled the trigger. In the mean time, know that the magnet unseats the port on the device and it must be pushed back in.
Hi, my Tab never got a loosed port. When i connect it, it starts blinking red, not charging.
When i drove there to pick up my un-repaired tablet back, along with the cable i gave them, they delivered the cable without a magnet.
After a long verbal fight, denying that the cable was ever send to them in its nominal form (with the magnet), they finally gave in and gave me an official Sony cable (i know , too late, eh?)/.
Truth be told, the Sony magnetic cable is SLIGHTLY different.
For example, i can charge my Z1 phone while wearing a silicon sleeve-case with the an-official magnetic cable, but with the Sony one, there is no clearance.
Also, a very important difference is, the old magnetic cable would convey the charge from any power source (like any type of Ambers charger, for example the usb port, or a less strong (less Ambers) sony charger.
The official magnetic cable, work almost only with the Z2 tablet charger. For example, it wont charge my Z1 over the USB PC port like the old one did.
Can anyone exaplin this, since i just cant see any extra type of filter or dunnowhat present on cable.
Is anyone else having problems with charging their phone with a USB C TO USB C Cable?
I have to set my phone a certain way for it to charge, but with a regular USB to USB C it charges fine.
Could just be my charger port or some kinda measure to make sure the cable is actually touching the connector port.
I initially had the Verizon version of the V30 (LGE VS996) and it came with a LG charging brick that used a type-c to type-c cable. It worked great every time and the phone always showed it was quick charging when I was plugged into it.
I kept that phone for less than 2 weeks though because I decided to switch to T-Mobile. I returned the Verizon version and bought the T-Mobile version of the V30 (LGE VS986). It did not include the same type-c to type-c charger/cable and instead only a type-A to type-C charger and cable... I don't have any c to c cables or adapters so I have no way of testing this phone.
Mines the Verizon version, I got it from Best buy and it came with both cord's.
Swiped it out with some alcohol, it seems to be working better I'll update you guys in the next couple of days.
I've done it before and it did really help but so far seems better, also I bought the latest USB C 3.1 gen 2 cable.
It made it work a little better, but I talk to Verizon to replace it, should be here Tuesday. We will see if I have the same problems.
I received the replacement today from verizon and it was definitely the charger port being lose when i bought it from best buy.
luckily I have verizon's total mobile protection, lg was going to make me send the phone to then then they would send a replacement which would take over 2 weeks being the christmas season . Verizon over night ships the replacement, then you send your phone off to them andyour done.
