I am currently rooted and having issues hiding apps. I have often used app lock on the playstore to help me hide apps from my daughter as she shares the tablet with me but none seem to work even if I grant permissions. Can anyone recommend a good app I can use to hide apps and then use a password to access the app myself please?

hey guys,
so i have a prime
currently updated to ics.
and well i will be sometimes giving my tablet to my brother to play games on and stuff.
so i was thinking i would change the launcher and hide the apps i don't want him accessing.
i'm not too fussed about the performance of it. but would be a bonus.
also i can't use adb, as i am planning to make hubs for myself.
so anyone know a launcher that can hide apps that works on ics?
please help

Search for SwitchMe in the market. It will allow you to create totally separate login for your brother which will not see any of your apps or settings. He can even set it up with his own gmail acct and install his own apps without affecting you.
SwitchMe requires Root, but is worth it and works very well
All,
I decided to be proactive today and disable/remove some bloatware that cannot be tamed with Gemini App Manager. After a brief search, I decided to install Root App Delete. To play it safe, I decided to use its Safe Mode under the Systems Apps button. Among the first app I tried disabling were Google+ and Google Play [magazines/books/music]. After disabling these apps, I launched Gemini App Manager only to see these apps still running. (They are like cockroaches - almost impossible to kill.)
So, I fired up Root App Delete and selected Pro Mode, in order to permanently delete these apps. The problem is that I could not find them in the list of apps. So, I again tried Safe Mode and re-enabled them, figuring that perhaps disabled apps could not be accessed from Pro Mode. Problem is that I still cannot find these apps listed when using Pro Mode. I tried killing Root App Delete and restarting it, but that did not help either. I also restarted the phone, but that did not help either.
Is this user error or a bug?
Any suggestions?
Thx
I use an AppLocker on my daughter's phone. It works great, but there is one problem it causes.
I need to keep her and others out of the settings so it's blocked. But I need to be able to allow her to add access points so she's not eating away our data plan.
Is there an App Locker that will allow this? Or is there an alternative Wifi manager that I could install and allow that would work even when settings is blocked?

Use a launcher like adw launcher then make a custom shortcut to the access point intent in the settings application.
click pick your activity or click on one of the settings shortcuts in the custom shortcut menu.
then lock the desktop so she cant get anywhere.
this will redcue the risk of her accessing settings and other applications without the need for the apps locker.
Hello
I have a question regarding the "pm hide". I know that it can be used to remove bloatware on a non-rooted device.
But what happens exactly under the hood? Is the app disabled? Can it still run in the background andere use resources?
Can this debloating technique have an impact on the speed and fluency of the device?
Thanks in advance!
Stefan
Sent from my titan using XDA-Developers mobile app
I don't know about non-rooted devices, but on my rooted device it did strange things.
I wanted to hide some apps from the drawer, and thought it could be useful, but it did a bit more than just hiding from the drawer: the apps hidden with it were hidden from the drawer, yes, but were also hidden from the installed apps list (From settings), from Titanium backup list (they showed as uninstalled), in the store I had the button to install the app, as if it were not there. root browser showed the apk were still present in the /data/app...
One app was a key for the trial version, the trial version still reported as Pro, so in some way it detected the presence of the key. another was a plugin for Tasker, and Tasker said it cannot find the plugin, so there is a no go...
I went back and unhide them all, I don't want to risk an unbootable device.
I am using a china k20 pro that has beennreflasked to the stock global mi 9t pro stock rom that I was running without magisk/root as I didn't really need it when I first changed over to global. Mi main banking app breaks if the phone is rooted, even if you use magisk hide.
I don't usually use Google pay but noticed that it would not work with the unlocked bootloader but it didn't bother me. ended up with the same CTS fail problem so I decided to install magisk and hoped that the banking app want broken any more. Unfortunately there are now a few more finance apps that can detect magisk than I had before.
In trying to solve my problem I have just discovered a work around solution that seems to solve the magisk root detect problem for any app, at least the few that I have tried it with. I have not tried it without magisk being installed but it may solve the unlocked bootloader problem for goat, netflix etc as well.
Miui comes with a feature called App Lock. A secure zone that can isolate an app behind a finger print, can hide notifications, can hide an app completely to make it secret.
If you lock the banking or payment app that is breaking because the phone has been rooted in the app locker, the app cannot see that the phone has magisk installed and works flawlessly. The only difference is that you now get asked for your fingerprint when you open the app and have an extra level of security. Probably something we should all use anyway.
For custom roms, the play store does have other app locker type programs available to install. They may allow you to solve the same problem and might be worth testing.
Does not work with YONO app please help.
You also need to use magisk hide and to change the name of the magisk app.
Those to steps usually work but for the HSBC banking apps at least the extra step using app lock fixes it
Magisk hide in the shield menu. Top option opens you lust of apps. Find you bank app in the list and tap the mane to open the drop-down sub apps then click the check box and ensure that all parts of the app get the enable toggle set on.
Airfreeze app might also solve your problem. Freeze magisk when it's not needed. Don't use yono or other app when unfrozen
