Hello,
I bought this tablet recently and i have a bit difficulty on navigation with default bar on big screen.
Anyone has installed other navigation bars type of XDA gestures or Fluid navigation gestures?
Thanks.
Hi, yes I have installed navigation gestures by XDA on my Galaxy Tab S4 WiFi and it works perfect
I use Edge gesture . You can find it on play store.
It works great.

GMD Gesture is much more powerful than this one. You can do more things, you can draw your own gesture, and you can use gesture to pop-up a floating dock (which is fully cutomizable)
I mean you can do literally whatever you want with gestures (and it's not a battery drainer.)
And most important: you can do "real" gestures, I mean gesture anywhere on screen. Other apps are edge gestures only..

if my years of experience using android has taught me anything, it is that the first thing to look at when contemplating installing an app (let alone purchasing it) is to look at the date last updated.
in the case of GMD Gesture, it has been well over a year since the last update.
and then if you sort feedback by newest, you'll see people complaining about lack of updates and not working on phones released since the last update

I just said it was the best gesture app with root. And it is.. faaaar away from the others! But I don't kow if it works on Tab S4 because mine is not rooted, I'd rather wait until it is no longer under warranty to do so. I'm using Fluid Navigation Gesture. Not as good because you can't do real gestures but it's enough for me.
Else, if my own years of experience using android has taught me anything, is that people complain about everything, even if they don't know how to use the app!
- They can complain about the lack of updates even if the app doesn't need some,
- I'm pretty sure that those complain about the app just don't know how it works( or don't even have a rooted phone!). This app is like Nova Launcher, packed with so many options and features that you need some time to fully get it.
- About updates, there is no need for new functionnalities because there is already EVERYTHING in the app. You can't litterally add more options !
Anyway, it's a paid app and you can spend a few time with the app and be refund if you're not happy with it! FYI, it worked perfectly with Tab S3! It's OREO compatible so it should work (you can set options for your device manually in case it's not supported)
I'd love to have the gesture pinch with 4 finger to go on home (like iPad), any of the app that you are using do this?
Ps I'm not rooted

I use Samsung NavStar to edit the navbar, and also have OneHand Operation+ from samsung installed for gestures.

Root does not void you warranty. Trying to repair/opening your tablet doesn't void warranty by itself.
I'm using Fluid Navigation Gestures and recommend!

I didn't know that. I checked and figured out that you are right.
But at the end, I think Samsung doesn't care and do whatever they want. Few months ago, they refused to repair my Tab S3 which was under the EU 2 years warranty because it has already been repaired before!

I'm not asking which people like best, because I know that is highly subjective. What I want to know are which ROMs have all original S-Pen functions intact and if they have Samsung's apps too, that a bonus. I want a ROM that has more settings in the notification pull down and more theme options, but I don't want to give up the S-Pen functions that were one of the big reasons I got a Note. Any ideas?
did you know you can get gmt spen control from the market and use it with any rom? Then get an app like papyrus or memo, and you can set up custom gestures, or the original gestures if you like.
It works extremely well, and let's you try out cm based roms while still getting to use your s pen

You, my friend, are my hero for the day! I absolutely did not know that. I've only had the phone like 2 days and have only been back on Android like 2 days. I was on Windows Phone for the past two years after about as long on Android and really got out of touch with Android during that time.
Also, what is the name of the app that gives you S-Pen control? I got a lot of results but quite a few of them seemed fairly shady.

the developer is good mood droid
Actually, I do want to know which ROMs have the SPen apps installed. Any ideas? I like the Samsung version of the SPen better.

Almost any rom that is based on the recent 4.1.2 release will be able to run the S-Note app.
Try padawan jb 4.1.2

Anyone know why the spen gestures are now different on this new jb release? It was so much easier before with the simple Swype of the pen. Also no home gesture now.. ?

Quite a few AOSP ROMs allow you to double-tap the notification bar to turn off the display. However if you prefer the ability to tap any open space on-screen, like stock, to turn off the display, then I've got a treat for you:
Download Nova Launcher
Find the app Nova Settings and load it
Click Gestures and Buttons
Click Double tap
Swipe right to Shortcuts
Select Custom Shortcuts
Select Go to Sleep
Voila! An elegant and extremely snappy solution to turn off the display JUST LIKE STOCK. This works in any ROM that Nova Launcher works in, there is absolutely no difference in speed between this and LG's stock implementation. It's awesome to be able to tap anywhere blank to turn off the screen.
Enjoy!
Seriously? This has been around since the LG G2 came out. Meh.

The op is just giving information, in fact good information. Not a lot of people know about this gesture in Nova.
On a side note, if you don't use nova you can use Screen Off and lock. Its double tap and works with any ROM or launcher. Also has several animation options.

Hi,
can anyone who already might have the phone check, if it is possible to install Nova Launcher? In this thread it seems like huawei removed the ability. Thx!
You can still install and use Nova, but there are some bugs with gesture navigation. No problem if you use traditional nav bar.
See demonstration:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpGWc3rdXRQ
i saw another video with smooth working nova launcher
but it also seems that huawei offers a seperated app drawer in emui9, so maybe there is no more need for nova...?

yeah thats' the case for a while now. but i don't like the old fashioned way they implemented it. you know with the separate button to launch the drawer. it would be much more consistent if they do it like google does with the swipe to open the drawer.

The main problem with nova+emui 9 gesture is an animation glitch when going to homescreen. Installing fluid gestures solved that problem 90% of the time, still around 10% chance the glitch happens on my phone, but it doesn't bother me too much.
Another problem is blue tint in task switch screen and its crappy UI design (you can't touch the left or right card and go to that app directly, and it's difficult to stop at the right card), but i guess that's related to nova, not with gestures. It's annoying but still I can live with.
If you use the international rom. that's all you need to worry about.
If you use the Chinese rom version, 3rd party launcher is banned. If you bypass that ban by disabling emui launcher with adb, gestures will become unusable. Fluid gestures won't fix that problem. So you have to pick between using gestures or using 3rd party launcher, not both.
Ok , ive Solved with One plus gestures (that ive paid) and Hide nav bar.
I ve used and adb command and now It works perfectly with Nova Launcher.
Im using a European version of mate 20 x.
No notification sleeping or other problems tipicals of the Cina version.
Ive bought It on Amazon Spain

If you are using Nova launcher, especially the beta, mine updated about an hour ago and now it keeps crashing and I can't get a debug, it says cancel or uninstall then sends you back to the default launcher.

I am also using nova launcher beta and updated today. No problems here at all.

Hi,
i tried the new gesture navigation on EMUI9. It works but the return to home gesture go briefly to task manager before showing home.
did someone manage to avoid this? I'm on stock phone, no root or whatever..
Tried action launcher or nova without success
thank you
Yeah i avoided that by not using gesture. Its really a joke how it works

Fluid NG is the answer.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fb.fluid&hl=en
works great with any launcher (I tested with Nova and Action Launcher 5), and its free.
Pro version is not expensive if you need to tweak the setting.

Yeah there are load of 3rd party apps out there but i would preffer to not rely on those bit instead huawei to put their ****s together and not release official rom with the same exactly bugs they had on beta. This specific bug i reported it as a beta tester.

Thank god its android. We can just switch to other solution, or stay with the default one. Having options is good.
Navigation gestures app from xda is pretty nice.
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xda.nobar
Works after adb commands pretty well. But yeah Huawei should just fix their ****. Sometimes I don't know why they beta test their firmware. It seems that they don't fix any things from the beta firmware.
Just installed this app yesterday, works great. You can customize swipes on your screen to do different things. I've attached a screenshot of all the current possible actions.
I'm still using stock gestures, but have added a few additional swipes.
this is old and we don't need a thread for this.

I disagree...I never heard of this before.
I really like this app. Just found it yesterday. Wanted to turn off my screen with a swipe or app(now I do with a swipe). It works perfect. This should be BUILT IN to SETTINGS\Advanced\Motions and gestures! However, it is readily available on Play and Galaxy stores, sooo, NP.
Have hidden the bottom native nav buttons. They still work, but are hard to reach one handed. Don't have to reach down for back/recent/home anymore.
Can go directly to app drawer from another program. Very usefull. A plethora of actions.
This app works well if you want to use gestures with a 3rd party launcher but do not like the stock OneUI gestures. I had the stock gestures enabled but only used swipe up for home and then used OHO+ for the back and task switcher, not as good as proper android 10 gestures but works pretty well.
Finally I can use Android 10 gestures-like with Nova! Thanks!

No it is old , it is a part of Samsung goodlock package since i think galaxy s8 back in 2018
I am absolutely loving this app. I came back to Android after 1.5years of iOS and I am not disappointed with the level of customization we can do, and Samsung has definitely up its game as far as the software goes.
