I've been lucky enough to snag a Viewpad 10e from Argos in the UK... Struggling to find any forums specifically for this pad though.
In a nutshell, its a great piece of hardware for £200 slightly let down by stuttery software. Very iPad like but with Android gingerbread.
Anyone else out there have any experience with this tab yet? Anyone know of any plans for it to get it's own forum/development community?

Is it a tegra 2 device? If so we all here would at least love a full working gingerbread rom.

Its been over 24hrs with new toy now. Will be posting a review soon. I honestly like the look and feel so much that I'm selling my Galaxy Tab 10. I'll have some money left over as well cause the Viewpad is so cheaply priced. All that extra processor power is not needed for me, I basically use the tab for web browsing, a few notes, check the weather and the kids play angry birds! This pad is definitely suited to the job.

Ditto. For that price, you are better to go with a much wider support device like the Kindle Fire or Nook Color. Don't expect your new toy to get any substantial update to improve it beyond what it is now. The gTablet community has already been bitten by Viewsonic false promises. Your device will most likely had the same fate.
PS: a no name brand tablet from China can do all you want at an even lower price. Did you choose Viewsonic for the peace of mind of a name brand? Viewsonic don't make their own tablet. They outsource the manufacturing, the software and the support. All they really interest in is take your money.

Honestly, I was really impressed by the response I had recently from their support dept. I really like the device and I have been through a few to say the least. Seems like it could be quite hackable and I may just use it to learn some new programming skills myself! (If I can drum up some support). In my experience, every forum/thread has loads of people frustrated by lack of support from the manufacturers/resllers but for me, the point of these forums is finding help... Ill keep my fingers crossed that the OEM is discovered soon and after that finding some hacks should get easier.
Third warning about Viewsonic, their products suffer longevity shortfalls. I am now the 3rd person telling you they have the consumer integrity of a wombat. Don't hold your breath waiting for anyone to pick it up and think it will be differently. So many people got burned via the g tablet and it's abhorrent lack of updates from the manufacturer (which when it comes to things like drivers etc for future OS upgrades becomes a critical part of the equation) not many people who have been around the android block are going to make another purchase from Viewsonic so you could very well be alone for the foreseeable future in this purchase. I don't even like having a Viewsonic monitor on my desk at work anymore. Again, take what you are hearing at face value, Viewsonic + android = meh. I enjoyed my g tablet when i purchased it and it does almost all that I need but I hoped for more and have gotten less. Keep it if you like, but 6 months from now when you are looking at another tablet you are going to be hard pressed to find anyone to buy your Viewsonic. The poor reputation flags are there already.
Keep in mind, Viewsonic is the same company that came to XDA saying they wanted feedback and input from this community about the g tablet. That was spring of this year and not a single thing has changed. They did that one firmware update in April and since then it has been nothing but pushed changes that then get pulled back.
Keep it if you are happy with it, I just wouldn't expect anything in terms of a large community ever coming of one of their devices.
It's been almost a year since they promised they'd release an update. Every time I've asked them about update, the only reply I've gotten is "we're working on it." I dare you to find any report of a different response than that.
Viewsonic needs to go back to producing nothing but display monitors and projectors. This company is not ready yet to play with the big boys in the computing market.

The Viewpad 10e is only in the UK so far..... 9.7" IPS panel for £199, 9mm thick looks good value to me if your needs are not too demanding
Cant get my 10e to play videos from iplayer, any idea as to why not?

Works on live streaming for me from the app but not the others, think it could be to do with the Flash player version, read recently about other tablet users having issues with bandwidth / setting local storage to 0...

BBC iPlayer 1.04 apk from the web. It still is only working for me with live TV, Flash version 10.3, Flash 11.0 wasn't working...
Will play around with the different versions in the office today

I'm very keen on the Viewpad 10e myself. Has anyone tried out the multimedia side of it? it would be great t be able to play 1080p movies, etc. By the sounds of the 3D stuff that comes with it, it should be a decent GPU in it, would be nice to know how it does.

I'm thinking of getting one of these too. But I'm a bit concerened about the 'dated' SC A8 CPU and the dated OS?
Some of the things I will want to do on this is video calling using Skype (yes, I know there are other alternatives, but it has to be Skype) and playing DivX/Xvid movies and some .MKV movies. Could anyone tell me if it will be good enough? I am quite impressed by the dimensions and the screen, but if the specs can't keep up then I'm thinking of a cheap and chunky Tegra 2 tablet like the POV which is actually £10 cheaper and I'll put a custom ViewComb 3.2 ROM on it...
Any suggestions/opinions?

First impressions : well-made bit of kit with a great IPS screen. worth it for the hardware, I would say.
Moon reader pro is great on it, as is perfect viewer for comics and pdf's.
Can't get the video calling working for some reason. Anyone had any joy with this ?
Have tried Tango and Fring. In both cases, the FFC doesn't seem to switch on. You can see the the other person on it, but they can't see you.
Also, with Tango, the mic is switched off, and can't be switched back on.
Some sort of firmware shenanigans going on here. Had a quick chat with Viewsonic customer support just now, who will email me back.

Wanted the archos 101 as HMV were doing it for £129 , but just missed the boat, and then this came to my attention in Argos. Hope I haven't landed a dud !
Well, so far, have managed to get all her bits on it. Their version of market is a bit limited, but there is enough to get you started. Go launcher was a must, after having it on my Galaxy S2 phone, and it seems to cope ok. Formatted some of her films as mp4's and the shipped 'vortex player' handles them well.
Video calling would have been icing on the cake really.
Oh yeah, and whatsapp functionality, but there are ways around that I am looking into now.
Overall so far - promising.
Root and custom rom's would really maximise this thing's potential.
Oh yeah, and won't talk to my macbook pro over bluetooth- first device ever to do that.

I'm reading lots of good things about the HP Touchpad, and I'm planning to take a tablet just these days.
I was comparing the new Amazon Kindle Fire and the new Nook Tablet (aka. Nook Color 2) which are about to come out this month.
Unfortunately I'm from Italy so Amazon will not be a good option for me at last...
Suddenly I stumbled upon this HP Touchpad: lots of good reviews, lots of happy feedbacks, 9.7'' (which would be awesome for me as I'm gonna study on it lots of university pdf lessons too), good development community (Dual Boot WebOS and Android? Awesome!), CM support, all made me think it should be my best choice, but...
I'm just recently aware of the fact that HP Touchpad production is discontinued now, and so I'm really worried about HP's warranty/support of the product if I'd buy it now.
Also I'm worried about future updates (from development community mainly), I'd really like to develop for Android OS on this tablet if I'm gonna buy it.
I'm not a big fun of cameras and gps (I have another smartphone and real camera for those), so the lack of those is not a problem for me.
Also, my budget is ONLY around 200-230 bucks, not even near 300 bucks.
Finally, would you suggest this HP Touchpad to someone that's gonna buy a tablet NOW, is it still a good choice?
If the answer is yes, could you please explain why and suggest where to buy for worldwide delivery?
If not, could you please explain why in details and what would you suggest instead?

At last, I managed to get a Touchpad for myself, spent around € 170 (yeah I'm talking in my own currency), which is totally worth it!
First day I updated WebOS to version 3.0.4, installed Preware with new kernel and governor at 1,5 Ghz.
Later on the same day, I installed the last CyanogenMod alpha release with SOD fix.
Guys, what can I say...this device is totally awesome!
I've tried lots of times the iPad 2, and also the new Galaxy Tab 10.1, and this Touchpad really is on the SAME level of experience (especially once you "unlock" the 1,5 processors).
I must say, WebOS for multi tasking and productivity, is far more professional and has really better performance than Android (and potentially could have been on same level of iOS if other nice updates would have come along), it's a real pleasure to use it.
Not to mention that the CyanogenMod is actually feeling as a real Beta, and Android on this Tablet is awesome too.
For ~ $200 this is a real bargain.
I don't even worry about WebOS future nor HP future anymore, as ICS has come out now and CyanogenMod's team will surely surprise us with a cool Alpha release the next 1-2 months or so (hoping).
And if anything goes wrong, the WebOS Doctor is the key for not breaking your warranty almost 99% of the times.
It's really difficult to break this Tablet from what I've seen.
I just hope, if anything really goes wrong on hardware side, that HP support for warranty will be good enough, hoping it will be available here in EU aswell.
If any of you knows anything about it, please share!

Current WebOS works well in multitasking, but the original one was really slow. Few cards opened and you literrally had issues with typing on virtual keyboard, really annoying stuff, even on overclocked (1.5GHz) version. Android was working way better then, felt perfectly smooth and so on, but for now, since it drains battery more and has some WiFi connectivity issues WebOS is just fine ;-)
Looking forward to ICS to get it's full potential.
I'm very pleased with the support of HP for TouchPad. I live in France and I'm a very lucky man because I could buy 4 TP in fire sale: 1 16GB, 1 32GB and 2 64GB. I have 1 64GB sent to repair center in Hungary because of the cracks, after 1,5 month I haven't yet seen any cracks, 1 16GB sent 2 times to repair center because of the touch screen (after the first repair, the problem couldn't be solved). Normally the tablet returns back in 10 days (by UPS), and totally free

I've just bought a Belkin case for iPad, and not so surprisingly it fits perfectly for Touchpad!
Even the holes for ports/buttons are at same positions
Sooooo happy with my touchpad. I was going to buy a Kindle fire, but when I saw the touchpads going for the same price on Ebay, I knew this would be the better deal.
Plus,I really like webOS. It works flawlessly on my work's wifi. Android devices trend to drop connection fairly often.

the touchpads in raw bang per buck is better than the fire and nook combined. you're looking at a 1.5ghz dual core processor that was underclocked to 1.2ghz for marketting purposes.
the IPS screen alone is worth 100 bucks in supply costs
and 32gb of space? for 150bucks? done deal imo.

I am running dual boot webos and cm7. I will never be more happy. My sister has nook color, and I have used it. My tp beats it to dust becoz of the speed and screen to name a few things. I have heard good reviews about kindle fire but still its e reader with customized and limited version of android which again will have to cracked to get full android experience. Nook tablet seems to be good but its still 7 inch screen.
I know u can run Ubuntu and android on tp right now. It looks like tp hardware is like hd2, means we will b able to run many different OS on it.

I'm after one of this tablets, the iconia w700 with an intel i3 offers much better performance at the cost of weight and size. The thing that keep me from the nexus 10 is the browsing experience, I want the full laptop browsing experience without comprimise, can the nexus 10 offer that? I was frustated with the ipad that I had that whenever I opened tabs on my browser and the device needed memory it destroyed the tab from memory, that was very annoying as I tend to open tab to read them after, does the nexus 10 do this also?

If you want a full browser experience that also includes extensions/plugins, you may have a better time with a x86 tablet.
With Chrome (the stock browser), tabs do need reloaded when you go back to them. Not sure how AOSP or other browsers handle this.

Damn, that was what I feared, what about an atom x86 windows 8 tablet is it up to stuff for web browsing or are they as slow as netbooks.
Atom has definitely improved, but it's still no i7. I used a Vivo book Smart and it was really smooth. Try one out at a store.

Your post sounds like I wrote it, I realized how important a rich browsing experience is to me so I started to look at windows tablets also. The Vivotab Smart has an excellent internet experience but I only tried internet explorer, however I must warn you the volume sucks. I have now purchased the HP Envy X2 from Staples for 499.00 + tax and will get the next Nexus 10 when it's released. Hopefully the next one won't have all issues. Oh, I was finally able to see the W700 in person and its just does not make a good tablet unless you will mostly have it on a stand, it's heavy and has very sharp edges. As long as you're not a big gamer the atoms are great for general use.

I got a iPad mini 2 and I love it but for gaming its quite limit ( nvidia stream and ps4 stream ) so I wanted to switch to android world. For few months ago I saw a pretty good deal from best buy $229 Samsung tab pro 10.1 so I put my trigger. After got it nightmare start since the Samsung app , after i flash the cm rom turn better! But the problem is it just not feel right for me it will lag and crash some time and the battery can last only half day for some game steam and web surf. So I start to search other one have clean android rom . I was focus on nexus 9 nvidia shield and Sony z3
But i cant try them in local store except nexus 9. Here is my question which tablet you guys suggest?

Huh. The TabPro is actually one of the most powerful tablets on the market, depending on which of the two versions you got.
The LTE edition with Snapdragon 800+Adreno combination can handle any game easily, with power to spare. Especially on a customROM.
The Exynos+Mali, on the other hand.... Well, the WiFi edition is cheaper for a reason. That's the IntelHD of the Mobile market.

Hello, fellas. Recently I decided to change my old laptop which is 4 year old almost. Started looking for different options and the one which drew my attention is Asus Chromebook Flip 2 (C302).
I have never used a chromebook and I have no experience with the OS itself. A friend of mine is using one of the first chromebooks for a student purpose and he is more than satisfied.
Does somebody use that specific chromebook?
Would you tell me some words/opinions about that model and ChromeOS especially if you compare it with Windows 7?
I am not a heavy user or a gamer. I am a student and really often I use Microsoft Office (Word/Powerpoint mostly). In my free time I am browsing facebook (+chat), twitter, youtube and read articles and sport news. The only game I have on my current laptop is CS 1.6 and I spend like an hour per week to play this game.
So far I have used only Windows 7. Once I tried Windows 10 but I didn't like it and rolled back to the 7. My current laptop is pretty weak but 4 years ago it was nice and cheap:

The things which satisfies me most about this chromebook are:
1) The price - I do not want to spend more than $500 for a laptop and this one is $499 which is perfect.
2) Smaller and lighter (like twice of the weight of my current laptop) device
3) Android apps integration
4) New OS experience - after so many years with Windows (10 years with XP and 4 years with 7) I think I want to try another OS which is not MacOS.
Tell me your opinions about this specific model, about my decision (what you would do if you were on my place) and of course I will be glad to hear an alternative suggestions from your side (if it's possible to keep in mind that I am not willing to pay more than $500 for a laptop).

From what i understand is, they pulled android apps from the Flip 2 for a wee bit because of unstable issues.
The OS is pretty straight forward, Web browser, and apps that's it.
I don't know about weight or price because I have a Flip OG. so I wouldn't know but as a General Chrome OS User, Chrome OS is pretty good.
