Le Max 2 with the AT&T network? - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

Hi all. I'm considering buying a Le Max 2 for use with my AT&T MVNO, Red Pocket.
For those using the Le Max 2 with AT&T, how is your service? I'm especially interested in hearing from anybody who has traveled around the U.S. with the Le Max 2 on AT&T, and not just used it in their local area.
Also, do the global versions of the Le Max 2 (X820, X821, etc.) perform as well on AT&T as the X829 version intended for the U.S. market? Or is the only difference being that the X829 version is missing band 20, which is widely used in the UK and Europe?
The reason I'm asking about this is when I did a search for "Le Max 2" and "AT&T", the results showed XDA posts in 2016 and 2017 from AT&T users reporting problems with the Le Max 2 not being able to connect with 4G, dropping 4G connections, or falling back to 3G. Some users reported moving over to T-Mobile, where it didn't have problems. I'm happy with my plan and would rather not do that.
FWIW, I'll probably flash with LineageOS 15.1 Official ROM, in case that makes any difference.

I used a X829 in all western states.
The coverage was good, aside remote areas in Arizona and Utah.

buying the oneplus x for t-mobile

My main concern is the lack of data frequencies for u.s. i will be using the phone for t-mobile. Anybody here that uses this phone for t-mobile how is data connection holding up for you?
wasn't that only about the LTE bands? 3G should work fine then I guess?

I'm in California and so far lte is fine for me, it's similar to the g3 when it comes to getting lte or not so far I get it everywhere
There's a thread on the oneplus forum that goes through this. Seems all major metro areas get LTE. Which, I'm fine with too. Mine is on order so cannot verify. We shall see.

You will still get LTE speeds as long as you are in an area where bands 2 and 4 are available. My previous phone didn't have band 12, but I still have LTE coverage in my area, so I knew I would be okay with the OPX.
Band 12 is new. Most phones that came out last year didn't even have it. I think just the newest set of flagships did. I get LTE everywhere. I've only seen H+ maybe a hand full of times while on a phone call or in a building.
I get 100mbps in a lot of places. Even indoors.

The iPhone 6, at $749.00 retail, does not include band 12.
I've been reading these reviews and the things that get mentioned is just beyond me. The camera does have me concerned though.

I also have oneplus x with tmobile, and so far it seems like i get lte almost everywhere here in jacksonville fl. Also when i traveled across states over the christmas break. so you should be fine with getting lte coverage on tmoble.
I use the OnePlus X with Ting (T-Mobile)
Hi, I bought the OnePlus X without realizing that it wouldn't work on what was then my current network: Sprint. But I had already decided that I wanted to switch over to Ting. Ting uses other networks to power their service and charges you directly per use; it is very clear on exactly what you are paying for.
Anyway, it allowed me to connect my OnePlus X and set me up with the T-Mobile service (it shows up on the top-left notification bar on my phone).
I always get LTE coverage in Las Vegas, Nevada (USA) and I've never had a problem with the bands missing.
So yes, the OnePlus X works with T-Mobile. However, I have been trying to see how much they would charge me to switch over from Ting to T-Mobile and it seems that I can't? So for now, I'm sticking with Ting
I had a nexus 5 before (no band 12) and the oneplus X had the same bands avail actually it sounds like most unlocked phones don't have band 12 anyways but signal is actually better with my oneplus x over my old nexus 5 in a lot of places which makes me really happy!

Is Wind Mobile ( 1700 AWS) compatible with LeEco Le Max 2?

I've searched all over the forums and the internet and I'm still confused whether or not the le max 2 supports aws or not. I've been on sites where they listed the 1700 aws frequency (like the gsmarena) and some sites that don't show it. I just want to know if anyone here has tried using their le max 2 with any 1700 frequency carrier, like Wind Mobile. This is the last thing I need to know before I'm going to buy the phone.
Thank you!

Yes, Le Max 2 works fine on Wind Mobile.

What is Le Max 2's LTE A category?

Anandtech mentions it is LTE-A Category 12 (600 Mbps)
Some sites mention it is Category 6 (300 Mbps)
So what is it exactly?
With the new Non-HLOS.bin shipped with 17 S, there ist no cat 6 LTE , only 150 Mbit cat 4. The + sign at 4G sign doesnt appear
So should I go back to Indian 16S ? I am aware Indian 17S or 18S is on the verge of getting officially released. I prefer the Chinese 17S because battery is absolutely brilliant after removing the bloat. Indian 16S has horrible battery and standby time.
How to check the LTE-A ? I'm on CN 16s, in Malaysia (CA Band_3_7).
Whenever my phone show 4G+, then phone signal will drop for total no signal, can't call or data (Searching mode)

CN 16s and older ROMS are worthless for LTE. Try with Indian 16S.

Cannot tell as my operator is going to start CA soon in my area. People are saying that Indian 16S supports CA while Chinese 17S and below do not support CA.

If you get a chance please post your modem version. Thanks.
Snapdragon 820 has X12 modem (category 12 LTE up to 600 Mbps). I have had 4G+ for ages (in Japan on OCN Mobile One, an MNVO on the docomo network). However, as it is an oversubscribed MNVO my speeds are never great and even when getting a CA (4G+) signal they don't really change. My current firmware baseband version is as per this screenshot:

Unfortunately even on the same base chipset some of the radio params are up to the OEM, depending on what band combinations LE have programmed CA may work with some networks and not with others (eg OCN might be using 20Mhz x2 in 800Mhz while ThreeUK might be using 1x 15Mhz on 1800Mhz and 1x 15Mhz in 800Mhz).

Yes, obviously availability of CA depends on carriers and on the LTE bands available to the device. Not all bands are turned on for our device so some people some places are going to be SOL. In the case of OCN the carrier aggregation is probably working with bands 1 & 3 I guess (the other bands OCN use are 19 & 21, which are not available on the LeMax 2).

Ok so far then:
272-05 Three Ireland B3, B20, B8 Not Working
272-01 Vodafone Ireland B3, B20, B8 Not Working
440-10 OCN Japan (NTT) B1, B3, B19, B21 Working
Probably should just google what bands CN Mobile use for CA, that'll be the only thing LeEco will bother to implement in the baseband.

CA is strange. My friend has a Moto Z Play he bought direct from Motorola Japan. He is using OCN, same as me. His Z Play has the same available OCN LTE bands as my LeMax 2 (B1 & B3) and Motorola say it is CA compatible, but while I get 4G+, he doesn't. And another friend has a Japanese version ASUS Zenfone 3 and he gets 4G+ on another MNVO using same docomo network with B1 & B3. So it seems to be a bit of a lottery depending on your device & your region & carrier.

Compatibility isnt straightforward as its also dependent on resource blocks or RBs. Some radios can handle CA 2x 2x20Mhz and some might only manage 2x 2x10Mhz. Thats why reading the RRC messages between tower and handset is useful as OEMs dont release the full config that their UEs broadcast.
Snapdragon 820 aggregates 3 frequencies (3CC). I never managed to force him to do it, but 2 can (2ca).

Le Max2 on Verizon network

Anyone know if Le Max2 can be used on Verizon network? It seems that it has the bands but somehow, I could not use it with my Verizon postpaid sim card. Is there a way to make it work? Thanks a lot.
I also have this question. Put Xfinity SIM it doesn't work.
It seems that X829 does not have CDMA bands but X820 has. Probably that is the reason my X829 does not support Verizon network.
Has anyone been able to figure out if the x820 version works on Verizon?
It works super fine on Verizon LTE network for data purpose ....

Heyyo, are you trying with a stock ROM or custom ROM? If stock ROM which version and is it CN? Indian or that odd and unstable NA 5.8.016s build?

Le Max 2 in Canada?

I have a T-Mobile One plan. I am going to Niagara Falls ON next week. Has anyone used this phone in that location? Did data, voice, & text work OK?
Heyyo, I'm not in that part of Canada (eh?) But she does work really good for the majority of mobile service providers.

I've used my Le Max 2 with Bell, Koodo and Fido and they all get good cellular reception and speeds...
BUT BE WARNED! Just know that Canada has the WORST mobile plans in the world! I'd check with your service provider and see if they have a better roaming rates than just getting a Canadian sim card for prepaid data...
I am between Ottawa and Montreal I have le Max 2 x829 no problem with Bell
