Overlay issue - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

In an attempt to create have a systemwide dark mode, I installed BlacknotificationsOnly & Blackframework apks. But both seem to only work in lock screen.
I'm on an unrooted S9+, with Nova launcher, Fluid N.G, I'm not entirely sure what is causing this. Please help.

Using Samsung Widgets with Launcher Pro?

It just dawned on me now that I am using Launcher Pro that when I long press, I no longer get the option to add a Samsung Widget to my home screen.
Any way around this?
... other than just going back to stock launcher ?
Nope. The Samsung widgets are part of TouchWiz.

So are many other elements of the device (notification panel, different contacts app, etc etc etc). Using another launcher app does not disable Touchwiz as a whole, its just a new launcher. The widgets are still <i>there</i> I'm just not able to get to them right now, so I'm hoping maybe someone is able to yank the APK or something so we're able to use them in non-default launchers.
They were written to be recognized and used by the Touchwiz launcher, they're not compatible with the ASOP launcher which is why they won't show up with other launchers. HTC Sense widgets have the same issue, and aside from completely rebuilding them, they haven't really found a way around it.

um, no they're not. As I am using the LauncherPro Beta right now. The notification panel is stock, the contact is stock everything is stock except the dock bar at the bottom, which is different and better and the drawer which Is 3D!!! I love it.

That is exactly what I was saying.
Using a different launcher (i.e. LaunderPro) does not "disable TouchWiz" and therefore you should still be able to use the TouchWiz widgets. Everything else is still there and TouchWiz is most definitely still there, running, etc... changing the Launcher is not disabling TouchWiz.

it does disable touchwiz. touchwiz is the launcher app. so when your not in touchwiz, you don't have it.
just like unless your on the sense home, you don't get the sense widgets.
the touchwiz widgets require the touchwiz launcher.
don't bother asking or repeating again because there is simply no way to make it work short of rebuilding the entire app as has been said.
Touchwiz and the touchwiz launcher are two different things.
You cannot "disable touchwiz" without flashing a custom rom. It IS the modified OS.
You are right that the widgets are built into the twlauncher apk, so you can't use them in any other launcher.
Let's be sure we aren't confusing touchwiz with twlauncher...
touchwiz is a skin on top of the android os just like sense is.......you disable the touchwiz launcher then everything associated with touchwiz is disabled only giving access to basic android widgets.
Oh lawrdy, the fighting...
When I was using launcher pro I couldn't use samsung widgets, but the apps were unaffected.. So just disabling touchwiz launcher disables the widgets (or makes them harder to use at least) but the apps with the phone (including the notification bar) keep going...
So even if you just disable the launcher, you lose the widgets (unless they are just hiding because the samsung widget button was gone and they weren't in my regular widget are either)
im no dev here and my coding knowledge is minimal so sorry if i sound stupid saying this, but if the twlauncher is integrated to the framework, couldnt someone use a modify a launcher replacement by kanging some code from the twlauncher so the launcher replacement utilizes the framework or is it much more complicated than that?

If I'm understanding you correctly then yes it is that simple, but figuring out how to do that is not simple without the code...

Okay ladies Ill explain all lol, disabling the touchwiz launcher does in no way effect the widgets but you cannot use them in other launchers because they are not programmed to recognize them touchwiz itself is the custom framework that samsung has created for this phone, so if a dev enabled it you could use them in any launcher as long as the system/framework/twframework.jar and twframework-res.apk are there along with some key files in the sytem/lib folder to associate them to the system so really the launcher is nothing but a pretty blind over the window if you will and in no way stops you from using the widgets other than the other launchers are not programmed to look for them.

GO Launcher Ex Wallpaper Zoom

Hey everyone - having a slight problem with my all-time favourite wallpaper (which I brought along from my Symbian device) in combination with GO Launcher Ex.
Whenever I try to choose it as my homescreen wallpaper it gets zoomed in and very pixelated - TouchWiz doesn't have that problem.
Unfortunately Google & site search weren't able to provide a satisfactory solution ..so, anyone have an idea how to get it working?

Try to get that pic in 480 x 800 resolution, it will fit perfectly for portrait mode wallpaper.

Cheers mate, seems to have worked!
Blew the pic up to 480*852 first and then cropped 52 pixels from the top (only black anyways).
Resolution still seems to be fine enough.
Guess another possibility would have been to make a new all black 480*800 image and copy mine into the centre of that ..
Mmh. Will try that aswell.
*edit*
Crap. Just installed the newest version of GO Launcher and back to zoomed wallpapers we are - regardless of size. Only way to fix it is to switch back to TouchWiz and then back to GO Launcher again - which sucks.
!%#'"ยง!
What if you use Wallpaper Set and Save or Wallpaper Plus? They come out very sharp when I use apps like these.
I have noticed this bug as well. I can get it resolved by going back to the default launcher temporarily, set the wallpaper there, then relaunch Go Launcher, and it seems to be correct. It only happens to portait pics where there is no background scroll though.
Could it not be due to the wallpaper being in scan mode (as you go through the 7 screens the background image moves along)? Because in my HD2 (in SD Android) would select a square-ish area from the centre of the image I wanted as a wallpaper. When I changed it to the same image for all screens, then the selection of the image was in the same shape as the screen.

Are those Apps? Haven't heard of them before and might give it a shot - however there's probably also a certain increase in battery use associated with that method, something I'm not sure I'm prepared to accept.

Yup, exactly the same here. If only it weren't for the GO Launcher Calendar widget, I'd try another launcher or stick with stock TouchWiz ..

I have unticked that option, the background isn't scrolling.
Meh..

The problem seems to be known but possibly not recognized as a problem by the GO Dev team:
After the research, it seems the wrong of Android system. Because the API we use to get wallpaper of system give us the zoom wallpaper.

Also, another possible solution seems to be https://market.android.com/details?id=org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture - however, Live Wallpaper = more juice required.
Same here happened. I just switch to TW luncher and back to GO luncher
Actually, installing the latest update of the GO Calendar widget seems to have fixed the problem.
When I installed it the wallpaper first bugged out again but when re-setting it, it worked fine without switching to TouchWiz. Perhaps that'll work for someone else, too.

Had same problem, stopped using stock gallery to select wallpaper, and started using qpix to select wallpaper, and it works fine for me now. Seems problem for me was the stock gallery app I was using to select the wallpaper.
Currently having the same issue and neither TW or GoLauncher is playing nicely with me.

I am having a problem I am using GO Launcher Ex and my backgrounds appear to be zoomed in a little bit even though when I'm setting the wallpaper it is fully zoomed out with the orange box. It has only recently happened because it never did that before and it happens no matter what wallpaper I set.
Android 2.3.6 CheckROM GT-i9100
Anyone have any answers?
Thanks.

Just an update: I found that switching back to twlauncher fixed the problem with the wallpaper! Switched back to Go Launcher Ex and it stayed fixed. Weird.
In case that doesn't work
Hey I found that my background would not scroll if I swapped to the tw launcher and then back, and it seems that its the default wallpaper selector. I use wallpaper wizardii and choose the scroll option when setting wallpaper and it works great.

[Q] No touches or taps do anything with themes that use zooper

I click on anything and nothing happens at all. Themer works great otherwise as long as the theme doesn't have any zooper widgets. I'm sure that I'm looking over some miniscule settings but for the life of me I can't find out how to get any module to open when clicked. It does this for every theme that uses zooper and all my favorite themes pretty much use themers zooper implementation. I have all my default apps setup and I've tried deleting folders and reinstalling everything but nothing has helped. I've never really used zooper before so Im not that familiar with it tbh. If anyone has any ideas that would be awesome. Just to clarify the theme displays correctly but none of the clickable objects on the homescreen work.
I'm having the exacts same issues! I have a Note 3 (4.3 original rom, rooted) and tried everything from deleting Themer, Mycolorscreen folder, etc! Nothing works! Just like @jack_slapped said theme shows up fine but any time a theme has a zooper widget - nothing happens when tapped, tried even changing the ontap action in zooper. Tried many themes and they all have the same issues!
Anyone has any idea?

Hey there,
This is an odd bug. If you're running rooted apps/settings, make sure that everything is as stock as possible. If we see more users reporting this bug we will escalate the matter. Sorry for the inconvenience.
@ThemerSupport is it because I have xposed modules? The issue is still there after recent Themer updates.

This could be the case, as almost every Xposed module that changes the display will affect Themer. Turn them off one by one to see which module might be affecting Themer, then let us know, as we might know of a workaround.
@ThemerSupport Looks like it's the App setting module (which lets you change your dpi and screen resolution for certain apps) -- I had it changed for Themer sometime ago as my Note 3 shows all themes too small (all widgets are too small) with EVERYTHING unaligned if not.
Any workaround for that?

We're not too sure a workaround, as every device is different. The only advice we recommend is to either leave the settings for Themer as stock as possible, or browse this forum to see if someone else has found a fix. Technically Themer isn't meant to work with rooted settings, but if it does, then that's a bonus

there's already an android N theme
I have done it this way on my phone to give the best possible experience as the Android N theme on MIUI store seems so fake.
1. Install Google Now launcher (this is more authentic than Nova launcher but Nova gives you so many more options, plus Google Now launcher has OK Google voice command)
2. Install Android N theme from the Mi theme store. This will change the colour of the system UI. This means the pull down menu, toggles etc.
3. Now for the icons, install "awesome icons" from the play store . this lets you choose the required icons for each program that you want to change. The program is very self explanatory. Install an icon pack if required so that you will be then able to use the icon pack icons also.
Hit thanks if I helped.

For the icons please just get the stock ones from Google!
Sorry, i am just too lazy right now...
Aye, can someone help me out to get me started with making some themes?
This MIUI Theme thingy is not working for me.
As in whenever I use it and try to edit the Home screens and Contacts Screens and all, it's just a blank white screen.
I can majorly only change icons in the theme.
Help!

Here is mine using official CM13 + Xposed
Big icons
When using Nova launcher , thr is no widget for clock app available..
Is thrre.any way to reduce the size of stock miui 8 icons, it looks too big
I liked the Android N miui theme a lot, especially the messaging app and the dialer. I can't find anything to theme them the same way on CM13, would you know any theme like that?

Custom Notification Bar Icons Help

It might sound silly but I actually one of those guys who pay attention to small details in making my experience using this budget phone feels like extraordinary. Some icons on the notification bar are just dull like the battery icon. The looks is just not for me especially after looking the one in iPhone 11. My main goal for now is just to change that alone, but if there's an app that offers more customization for other icons, I will gladly take them. I tried googling it and found about Xposed framework. I tried downloading the apk and installed it. It says that it needs framework or something like that. I uninstalled it and go to Magisk and try to download it from there from the Modules tab. I found it and tried to install it. It gave me an error. Tried it three times. Apparently it's not going to work on Android other than from 5.0 to 8. Now I don't know where else to look since that one was the only one looking promising.
There used to be beautiful themes for POCO when it was on MIUI 10. For example I used to use one called PixPie Dark. It gave me new battery icon, lock screen animations, new navigation bar etc.
Now that we are on MIUI 11 the old themes are not compatible. And newer ones have not been made (yet) which have all the customizations.
I absolutely hate the MIUI 11 default icons. They look outdated.
Anyway here's my desktop setup.

Does the wallpaper change as per time?
What theme is it? And what's the battery please?

No, I'm sorry the wallpaper doesn't change according to time. It's just a wallpaper I selected from the MIUI gallery.
Theme is stock Poco theme with Nova Launcher Prime (Paid) and icon pack is Thin Icon Pack (Paid).

I've rooted my phone and installed custom ROM (Pixel Exp). I don't have access to MIUI theme (not that I even want to because it will not allow you to use third party theme. I wonder if there's a third party app that will allow me to change the notification bar especially the battery icon. I tried Xposed framework but it didn't work because it is not compatible with Android 8.0 above.
