Pie Vendor just means the vendor files which is the modem and baseband etc. It just means that it is the version that is compatable with pie based ROM's. Pie is the codename for android 9, most ROM's and the latest MIUI are pie based.
If you are just updating your pie vendor firmware, you do not need to wipe your internal storage.
If you mean that you want to upgrade/change ROM's, it is best to wipe data, cache, dalvik and system before flashing a new ROM. If you are just flashing a newer version of the same ROM, you can just wipe cache and dalvik and you should be okay to flash.
You only have to wipe internal storage when unlocking the bootloader, its an automatic thing.
Hope this helps!

[Q] Problems after flashing 4.1.2. leaked

Hi all and sorry for my bad English.
I installed Omega's 4.1.2 leaked, tested it for a while and returned to previous JB custom ROM.
I always make a clean install (Wipe Data - Wipe Cache - Wipe Dalvik cache), but every time now I flash custom roms, I have hints from 4.1.2 in menu in my custom rom.
I think there're some "trash" files which aren't deleted with data wipe.
What shall I do?

try a fresh install after 'Format system' under 'mounts and storage' in CWM recovery and then see
Will it delete any files from my storage?

No, it will not do any harm to ur Internal Sdcard (the 11.5 gb one) since it only wipes the Internal storage (the 2gb one) for u

How did you flash RR if you've wiped everything?
Except for, when you didn't wipe sdcard.
Anyway, there's no need to worry if the phone is working.
Sent from Note 3, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

I flashed it vía sideload
Nope you'll not lose anything related to ROM. Only app data and media files in the internal storage will be lost.

step to downgrade from Pie to Miui

Hi i want to ask how is the right to to flash from Pie to Miui??
I do direct flash and i got encrypted so i format internal. But after that i still got encrypted.
Any help??

in twrp (same twrp which you used to instal pie ) go to advanced wipe and select everything (except micro sd) and now copy your rom to internal and flash it . it should work

from havoc (pie) to xiaomi.eu (nougat)

Hello, I gave my "old" mido to my mother running havoc os. Everything is running fine, but the call quality is really bad. I would like to switch from havoc to xiaomi.eu.
Is there anything special to consider, or just wipe system , data, cache and dalvik and install zip from Internal storage? Thx for helping me.
Take steps to avoid failed encryption

Clear the internal with f2fs and wipe the data via TWRP. Wipe completely all partitions including system, cache, data, dalvik, vendor, firmware etc and flash the ROM. Do not flash Magisk or any other root solution and everything should be fine.

F2FS. Affirmative.
Flash Oreo rom (max R30), to convert your data partition into the old one.
After that, just flash any rom you want

Android Q ROMs TWRP fails to map file

Hey guys,
I already have done hours of research and I have been trying and failing a lot of times. So here´s my problem. I wanted to flash a new Rom , the newest MSM Extended and the newest Pixel experience. I´m on Twrp 3.2.3-2 and on the newest firmware for the Pocophone (V11.0.5.0.PEJMIXM). Everytime I try to flash the ROM it says "Error 7" for Msm extended and "failed to map file" for Pixel Experience. I already tried all versions of Twrp for Poco F1 and I tried a 3.0.1 vesion of another device but the TWRP simply didn´t work. I always had to flash my old msm Rom which is always working. I think it´s because of the Android Q update. But I already have the latest firmware so I really don't know anymore.
Try latest twrp

Does that change anything? It's the internal storage right? I always wipe Data Cache Dalvik Cache and System Data.

When you get from pie to q, you have to format your storage. It's not only wiping your internal, it's a different option in twrp.
Format your storage, reboot into recovery and then it will work.
Mind that you you have to format again and do some other things too if you decide to get back to pie afterwards.

Alright. So I just have to find the option to format my phone? Doesn't that also wipe my internal? The zips for ROM, GApps etc. are there. Is it possible to transfer files while in Recovery? If yes then I can follow. I don't quite understand right now. Sorry for the late reply. I was busy with school.

The button for formatting is next to "advanced" in the wipe menu of twrp.
It will erase everything, yes.
You have to transfer the zips needed from a pc/microsd/usb otg to your storage once it's been formatted while being in twrp.
So I'll have to Advance Wipe>Internal Storage, Dalvik, Cache, Data. Then Magisk will flash easily?
I'm using the POCO X3 right now running MIUI 12.
