Root Samsung S9+ SM-G965U - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Anyone know how to root the Samsung SM-G965U?

Unfortunately the U.S variants have locked bootlockers so I don't think theres any way. I have a W variant (Canada) and i'm pretty sure its the same for me.

I don't think so. I've tried and I couldn't find a way. Maybe in the future there might be a bypass but as of right now I don't think there is.

No it is not.
The question has been asked before, but unfortunately there is no root method for the G965U or G965U1 as of yet.

what do you guys about this link?

It's interesting, but it doesn't have anything to do with the G965U/G965U1 phone

Enjoy your US variant phones as is. They are not root able, period.
Quite honestly, haven't seen a need for root for my last few phones now.

For most things root isn't really needed anymore. But to take full advantage of the capabilities of your phone. Then yeah. Rooting is still pretty viable.

??
"Safely root your Galaxy S9 Plus SM G965U"
https://www.search4roots.com/how-to-easily-root-samsung-galaxy-s9-plus-sm-g965u-android-oreo/

I have to question the legitimacy of said link within regards to the G965U/G965U1
No XDA developer has found the holy grail that let them root the phone, package it into an easy to use interface and released it to the public. Even if you exclude the easy to use interface and went with ADB or other related commands If the G965U was indeed rootable there would have been something on the forum here, some tutorial and the necessary downloads.

Root Possible?? Maybe
Even Though i think the method stated above is B.S, There has been a new release that may make it possible to root the Snapdragon SM-G965U Variant

If you have a source to back up the claim post the link please.
Last I read root wasn't possible per the developers.. Posting something like that claiming "maybe" otherwise with nothing that can validate your claim makes it unbelievable (or very hard to believe).
IMHO I would rather not hear "maybe" or "might" news as I would rather just wait for "we found a way and we are working on getting it ready". If news is gonna be posted just let a developer do it
The "might" and "maybe" tidbits don't mean much and don't necessarily end with fruitful results.. It does not serve much good to get people's hopes up if there is nothing that will actually become of a "maybe".

Any updates?

[Xperia U] Can We Root Xperia U ANYWAY?

Hey Guys...
I used to have x8i, x10i, Neo, and now I'm gonna buy an Xperia U.
But I can't figure out something, since there is a little progress on this device in XDA.
The simple question is this: If I buy this little honey, Can I root it ANYway?
I mean either with locked BL or unlocked BL.
And, Is latest version, .184, rootable?
Actually, I want to know whether it is possible to root this device or not, and if yes, WHICH VERSION...
It would be greatly appreciated if you provide me the link..
Thanks in Advance...
Zende Baashin, Hezaar Saal...
Hey...
I want to know if there is anyway to unlock sim, or if someone is working on. If can unlock sim, BT will be unlockable, right?
Thenks.
Unlocking the SIM card and Unlocking the bootloader are totally independent and different.
Unlocking the SIM is not a way or a "cause" for unlocking bootloader.
Bootloader unlocking is a different story, especially in the case that it's official. through Sony Mobile website...
I have blocked BT. I can use sony mobile method...
Anyone Home?!!!!
Any Answer?!!!!

first, tnx for your and ohter devs' hardwork.
then, there rises a question, how much chance do we have to get this little phone rooted? and then, who is the main dev for this? how much time do you estimate we need to get it done?

It is working, but I'm not yet sure if it's failsafe. Many things are the same as the XPS exploit and some work was done by Pokoby but I can't find his thread now. Basically it's a community effort.

It should not cause any damage, but something in there is not working every time, so you sometimes need multiple tries to get zergrush to work.

Not sure, it's mostly the same thing that was used for XPS.
hum, by XPS you mean Xperia S right? gotta read a bit how it is.
Pokoboy was just kidding, believe me! I read that thread all over, and nothing...
I hope there will be solution for root problem...
BTW, can you provide us with the root tool you are talking about? we will give it a shot, and we don't expect it to work 100%...
this device is very hard to root in locked bootloader because sony fixed the exploit., and another thing this phone is using different microprocessor(NovaThor), not a common Qualcomm SoC.

Will Motorola's Official Bootloader Unlocking Tool for Photon allow working 4G?

Since the Unlocking Tool is from Motorola, will it allow the Photon Bootloader to be unlocked without disabling 4G/WiMax on custom ROMs that require an unlocked bootloader?

It's not on the unlockable device list, but it may be in the near future.
We can sit around and wait for Motorola to do it. Or we could all sign an online petition and show them how big the community is, and how much business they'll loose if they don't unlock bootloaders!

[FOR DEVS] Possible bootloader unlock exploit

Hi! I found this now on reddit, there is LG G2 on the list, can we use it?!
It's the documentation by @djrbliss (Dan Rosenberg, XDA Recognized Developer)
http://imgur.com/TXKDpOI
Reddit link:
http://pl.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/2csyiq/looks_like_many_android_phones_are_getting_a/
Please check it guys, but if it's not useful, then sorry.
@dorimanx @dr87 @savoca @Cloudyfa @OptimusRs @RenderBroken @Amperific @JackpotClavin (just wanted to show it to someone who is experienced and who would have a while, it's not like i just mentioned everyone here)
EDIT: https://www.blackhat.com/us-14/briefings.html#reflections-on-trusting-trustzone
The talk will conclude with a discussion of the ramifications of this vulnerability and others like it, including a live demonstration of using it to permanently unlock the bootloader of a major Android phone.

Well, seems like the G2 may be a hot phone for developers soon The phone still has the beast specs, so.
Btw, I read that S5 and M8 are patched, as we know they have Snap801, so this exploit is hardware related? If yes, then LG couldn't even relock it, i suppose, lol
Thanks @reas0n for sharing this with us. The imgur link you shared, i compared it first with the loki script but it didnt contained anythin about qsee i thought and no similair lines. If @dr87 has the way to permanently unlock the gs4 then it would be also maybe possible for the g2 like said in the imgur link you gave. Seems trustable that link. But i bet dr87 is having now some kind of top secret area 51 project to unlock the lg bootloader.
Thanks again reas0n continue your search you`re doing great.
I could also be wrong and it maybe contained in the loki script but i didnt saw it since i`m watching from my tab now.
Thanks, I want to do as much as I can for the G2 community.
Edited the thread, lol, it would be epic if he used our lovely G2 as unlocking example We just have to wait now.
I saw now that he will present at blackhat so pretty big. First i came on an website from azimuth security about galaxy s4 loki etc i just found out on that link from you that dr87 works/ is part of azimuth security so i bet he will bypass and unlock it
The security doctor will fix ill locked devices.
Maybe the device wil get unlocked before lg provides an official unlock method. Is it about me or is LG doing the same as samsung? Same with bootloader, roundicons in notification bar etc, i wonder how LG will become.

I figured why not give calling em a shot. It was a thousand questions and then redirected to their security department then several more questions resulting in them saying "I'm sorry sir we do not even have a code to provide you and we do not allow or support device unlocking or rooting." I was like.. Byatch! What a mess! I should have researched this before buying... I looked it up, saw moto e was rootable and looked no further. Sucked in by the deal. Now I can't even return it. I've had it too long. I'm sure no one is even attempting it anymore. Think I might craigslist it for 40 and get me one to have a little fun with. Oh and not only that Tracfone has a site and under their name it says something like, when you have our phones you have the power. Ha! Straight talk just lost a long time customer. And this phone is just bloated out to the max with Google and Motorola CRAP! If someone out there in this mod world have this phone... Get it!!! Hit it hard! We can use this as a lab rat! Is this the Version One Click root you were looking for? This is the updated version.
I found it via this article. Chrome detected the Verizon apk as a virus, but that's probably a false positive. The apk does come from XDA.
Blah blah blah, if you install that, I'm not responsible for nuclear war or bricked phones.
I'd try it tonight, but I need to be up for class/work tomorrow.
I don't have much to lose, although I do love this phone. Right now I use it as a server with VIM via Terminal IDE or as a web server with KSWEB. Although I recently converted an old 1.6GHz N270 Atom netbook to do the same thing, it's much louder and hotter, but way more powerful.
I'm just pissed what StraightTalk did to this phone. It's absolutely amazing, but those bastards had to ruin it.
