Strange!! Eager to know why nobody cracked it yet...
still nothing for xt830c?
I would love to see this version of the phone opened up too!!!
I converted to ART and am seeing real storage problems...I do not have that many apps installed.
Include me on this list, I'd really like root for this device.
Mee tooo
Someone Get These Pricks!!!
I figured why not give calling em a shot. It was a thousand questions and then redirected to their security department then several more questions resulting in them saying "I'm sorry sir we do not even have a code to provide you and we do not allow or support device unlocking or rooting." I was like.. Byatch! What a mess! I should have researched this before buying... I looked it up, saw moto e was rootable and looked no further. Sucked in by the deal. Now I can't even return it. I've had it too long. I'm sure no one is even attempting it anymore. Think I might craigslist it for 40 and get me one to have a little fun with. Oh and not only that Tracfone has a site and under their name it says something like, when you have our phones you have the power. Ha! Straight talk just lost a long time customer. And this phone is just bloated out to the max with Google and Motorola CRAP! If someone out there in this mod world have this phone... Get it!!! Hit it hard! We can use this as a lab rat! I'm sure no one will buy it! Lol

So here's what I would believe, the CDMA version on straight talk is a cdma-v phone.. I assume that means its a Verizon phone, if I had a back up phone I'd be willing to try to root this one using the Verizon one click root app... Does anyone have any thoughts?
I would be willing to try it. Tried searching for it but couldnt find it. If you have link to the Verizon 1 click root app Ill try it asap. I just bought it and have a 30 day store warranty. I did try the LG Stump root 1.2 and did not work.

I will try it, I dont mind messing with my device, I can probably look at the apk as well and find the exploit to see what it is.
Look forward to hearing how it goes. Need this XT830C rooted. Never had a non rooted phone. What a big difference it makes and not for the good.

someone needs to show me where the root method is at =P lol
This is not the Verizon 1 click root as I was looking for the same but this is the Sprint/Verizon LG Stump root method I tried.
**This might be the 1 click root app. Doing a search on google keeps bringing this link up. Dont know for certain. Method did not work for me.

Is this the Version One Click root you were looking for? This is the updated version.
I found it via this article. Chrome detected the Verizon apk as a virus, but that's probably a false positive. The apk does come from XDA.
Blah blah blah, if you install that, I'm not responsible for nuclear war or bricked phones.
I'd try it tonight, but I need to be up for class/work tomorrow.
I don't have much to lose, although I do love this phone. Right now I use it as a server with VIM via Terminal IDE or as a web server with KSWEB. Although I recently converted an old 1.6GHz N270 Atom netbook to do the same thing, it's much louder and hotter, but way more powerful.
I'm just pissed what StraightTalk did to this phone. It's absolutely amazing, but those bastards had to ruin it.

I have galaxy s3 with a straight talk micro sim in it (the bring your own phone sim, cost 14.00 bucks). I bought a used GTI9100M s2 and re installed the stock rom because I wanted to remove the root from it. when I install my sim for my s3 with the adapter from mini to micro, it gives me the ENTER NETWORK UNLOCK CONTROL KEY BOX. I though the GTI9100 was unlocked as it is the international version. So why is it asking for a control key?
I just want to be able to use gti9100 for a backup phone in case my s3 breaks. can I switch the sim back and fourth like this?
Thank you for any advice.
You need to unlock it. Being the international version doesn't mean it's unlocked per se.

Do I need one of those unlock codes off the internet that cost about 10 bucks?
Also, can you or someone tell me if by doing this I'm unlocking the phone or the sim card itself? I don't want to cause a problem with my sim when I put it back in my S3, thaks
You can unlock it by searching the forum. There's a thread about this resolved yesterday at q&a.
And no, it won't affect your sim card at all, it will only unlock your phone.

I want to thank you for your help first, but I'm wondering now why I bothered getting a GTI9100 international if I still have to unlock it. All I've seen people saying is, " just get an unlocked phone, that way any gsm provider's sim will work with it".

So you posted a link to an app that does not support OP's phone in the free method with only the POSSIBILITY of being able to root with the pro version. Sounds kind of scam like to me.
To the OP: I was trying to find some info on rooting your phone, and though I found stuff for the d160, didn't have any luck with the version you have yet and not sure if the method is compatible because it involves install a custom recovery and sometimes they support more than one device, but often not.

I'm aware of the difference between a Windows app and an app for the phone, but the end result is the same: the phone is clearly not supported in the free version nor any phone that is even similiar, meaning they'd have to try the Pro version to even have a shot. Recommending paid software without letting people know just seems...inappropriate, at best. Glad it worked for your phone, but your phone and the one in question are vastly different.

Is that so? Trying to use a root program not designed for your phone is going to do 1 of 3 things:
Nothing (hopefully)
Bricked
Or leave behind bits of coding that could prevent a proper root access app to work
Let's say it MIGHT work, well, that means the OP has a 50/50 chance of messing up his phone, to some degree, that would involve needing to reinstall the stock operating system. Not likely that the firmware is easy to find, and OP might not be comfortable with trying to fix his phone in that manner. Not odds most people care to bet on.
I think it's great that you want to help, but you should be more careful with advice you are not sure of.

Can someone with a rooted Verizon LG G3 please help me by sending me an app that is part of stock? Basically, I just need the voicemail app, but I need it sent to me a certain way...just by using NoBloat (FREE).
To whoever doesn't mind helping me out, here's what to do: AND THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!!
1. Install NoBloat FREE and SAFE:good:!
2. Open NoBloat, and select "System Apps"
3. Find "Voicemail" or Visual Voicemail 3" in the list and long press...click "Backup"
(If you really don't mind doing the same thing for anything else labeled as a Verizon app, that would be a great bonus, but I'm not as desperate for those)
4. Using your file browser, just find the folder on your internal SD card called "NoBloat" and zip it up and upload to me however you can! Please
If you are actually willing to help me out with this and have any questions about how to do send me the NoBloat backup folder, please ask me (PM me if you want as well). I would just be so grateful and happy to explain it to you!! XDA is the best site in the world because of awesome and helpful members like we all try to be!! Thanks!

No, I've tried that already. The reason I am actually asking for the NoBloat backup is because you need to paste the proper apk and data folder in the correct places in order for it to work. Once I get the NoBloat backup from someone ( if I'm lucky enough), I will post a quick and easy tutorial on where to place the files in order to have full voicemail functionality again
EDIT: I misunderstood you, yes I am willing to try the APK file if you don't mind sharing!

Because if Titanium Backup shows Voicemail in there, that would actually work too! Best way would be to make a new folder on your SD Card called "Voicemail App" or something... Then go into preferences in Titanium and change your backup folder to that new folder you made.
Then just backup the Voicemail app with Titanium and then share that "Voicemail App" folder.:good: fingers crossed!!!!

This looks interesting, and the names seem legit.
I'll bite. Would you mind sharing where you got that?

I'm sorry, but I wouldn't touch that with an 80ft pole!!!
First off, it's not for the G3. It's L90
Second, and most important, None of the devs working on it have put it out there yet. I'm sorry, but maybe I'm too sceptical to believe that if this has been out since Aug 8th, Why is it not available here?! Or even rumor of it?
I really hope you didn't just ruin your phone. My guess is this has something to do with the T-mo version of the G3 at best. Not to be used on the Sprint version.
I got an 81ft pole if your down. Haha. Just kidding man. I hate seeing threads like this that give us hope for a minute and turn out to be snake oil.

I looked into it too and it seems legit for the phone they advertise but as you said it didn't mention the LS990 anywhere., and how jcase or no one else over here knew about it and if they did and it was legit they would share it here. Hopefully his phone isn't ruined.
no is not damage it even do a back up of the laf.img and boot.img
this looks shady if you ask me.

You're a braver person than I.
In that thread you linked, Sammyz has the partition layout. It's no where near what ours is as far as I could tell. There were many differences.
So even if you managed to get it unlocked, I would think your offsets and partition names/sizes would be wrong now.
I may be totally wrong, and I truly hope I am. But this is a risk I wouldn't recommend to anybody yet. And definitely not for me.
But to try to help you if you want to continue, AT YOUR OWN RISK, I guess you could try the recoveries in the LG G3 forums, under general. It's tethered and might be the safest, but it's also not for Sprint
Bare in mind though, Sprint Does Not have a recovery yet.

It's an unlock for a different model lg phone. At best trying it wont work - at worst you are now bricked. People can be a$$hats.....
I looked through the script and its pulling the partitions by name which is good. The thing i see that would worry me is erasing the the boot img to access fastboot, But it does backup the boot and then flashes it again. I think i might give this a go later when i grow a bigger pair...lol
Anyone know how to root the Samsung SM-G965U?
Unfortunately the U.S variants have locked bootlockers so I don't think theres any way. I have a W variant (Canada) and i'm pretty sure its the same for me.

Is there anyway to bypass the bootlockers?

I don't think so. I've tried and I couldn't find a way. Maybe in the future there might be a bypass but as of right now I don't think there is.

No it is not.
The question has been asked before, but unfortunately there is no root method for the G965U or G965U1 as of yet.
what do you guys about this link?

It's interesting, but it doesn't have anything to do with the G965U/G965U1 phone
Enjoy your US variant phones as is. They are not root able, period.
Quite honestly, haven't seen a need for root for my last few phones now.

For most things root isn't really needed anymore. But to take full advantage of the capabilities of your phone. Then yeah. Rooting is still pretty viable.
??
"Safely root your Galaxy S9 Plus SM G965U"
https://www.search4roots.com/how-to-easily-root-samsung-galaxy-s9-plus-sm-g965u-android-oreo/
I have to question the legitimacy of said link within regards to the G965U/G965U1
No XDA developer has found the holy grail that let them root the phone, package it into an easy to use interface and released it to the public. Even if you exclude the easy to use interface and went with ADB or other related commands If the G965U was indeed rootable there would have been something on the forum here, some tutorial and the necessary downloads.
Root Possible?? Maybe
Even Though i think the method stated above is B.S, There has been a new release that may make it possible to root the Snapdragon SM-G965U Variant

If you have a source to back up the claim post the link please.
Last I read root wasn't possible per the developers.. Posting something like that claiming "maybe" otherwise with nothing that can validate your claim makes it unbelievable (or very hard to believe).
IMHO I would rather not hear "maybe" or "might" news as I would rather just wait for "we found a way and we are working on getting it ready". If news is gonna be posted just let a developer do it
The "might" and "maybe" tidbits don't mean much and don't necessarily end with fruitful results.. It does not serve much good to get people's hopes up if there is nothing that will actually become of a "maybe".
Any updates?
