Backup doesn't work after deleting data/data/com.google.android.gms
There's a new problem after deleting mentioned folder to get GPay working. Unfortunately this breaks Backup. I captured the issue, backup transport path is disabled, you need to reenable it.
Procedure is same but this time, type in console
Code:
bmgr transport com.google.android.gms/.backup.BackupTransportService
Now repeat previous steps.
If I helped, consider buying me a coffee or just hit Thanks button. I appreciate any kind of feedback.

Nice!

Surely there must be easier method?

Hi guys. There is problem with Backup after deleting data/data/com.google.android.gms folder to get GPay working. I'll post my research of that problem later with fix, I'll update OP. Have a nice day.

OP updated.

Wonderful! Thanks for this! The ADB version fixed me right up!

ADB method worked for me, however, SMS still shows "Waiting for backup". Not critical for me because I delete old, useless messages. But thought it might be worthy of being mentioned.

I didnt use any of the methodes above. I just made first a local backup and boom ... The google backup now button was available. Strange !!!

Was having backup issues with AEX ROM on my ZUK Z2 Pro before I found and tried this; now, everything's fixed. Cheers for this!

Thanks dev. I was having the issues on my Poco f1 with Havoc Pie rom. and also on my other device Asus Max pro m1. Worked on both of them like a charm. Used ADB mode only.

Hello,
Please so, tell me is this adb backup is for a full mi8 system backup or only works for this google thing?
Cause, I'm new into mi8 (still using my redmi note 5), not unlocked yet, not twrp installed and no root of course. I almost received it days/weeks ago...
So can this method made a full backup of my mi8?
Cheers in advance.
PS: if no, is there a tuto to make a full backup of a new mi8 somewhere. I always searching a lot...

Only Google backup and if you want full backup, install TWRP and then do nandroid backup.

Cheers.
Its all I wanted to know. I know well twrp cause I'm using it on my Note 5 as I said. But as my MI8 is still locked... That's why I was asking if there is an other method or tool to use to do full backup.
Cause the local MIUI backup is just a laught ^^
PS: I thought using adb we could make a full backup like for exemple using a raspberry pi and a Windows tool to make a complete backup. That's sad... ^^'

For this backup bug, I found a easier solution by adding a second email....just add another account to save that backup and the Backup Now is live again...than you can remove the second email once the primary email backup is working now....

Thanks for sharing. I tried many other solutions with adb or deleting app data from several google apps, but it was as easy as adding a second (actually third) google account and then it just worked an keeps working after removing this account.

Nice

Try setting your Screen Lock (under Settings --> Security & Location) to "None".
Go back to Google --> Backup, and see if the blue button isn't lit up for you.
After backing up, you can go back and re-institute your security setting.

The terminal emulator solution worked for me on my pocofone, running pixel experience.

[Q] How to properly use Titanum Backup

Ok, I have finally convinced my wife to let me play with her vibrant. I plan on rooting it tonight but before I put the new ROM on her phone she wants me to try to backup her apps. She does not want to lose all of her data for her current apps. Stock 2.2 is always freezing or messing up on her and she is getting really annoyed!
My question is this, in order for me to move everything over (app and data) is there a step by step guide for Titanium Backup so I can do this properly?
(When I did it to my phone, I screwed up and lost everything on my vibrant and I don't want to do this again.)
I know with MIUI it has a backup feature which is awesome and this is more than likely what I will put on her phone.
Please help!
Thanks in advance
It is pretty simple really. In Titanium just hit batch and backup all apps plus data. You can also choose to save the backup on external micro sdcard just in case.
When I did that last time it wouldn't put everything back I guess I don't understand the process
Sent from my T959 using xda premium
What exactly did it not restore? Hit menu and batch and you can see what apps you are going to back up. Similarly when you are restoring you can see the list and it also gives you option to restore the app + data or just the apps. Just make sure after making a backup that you have backed up every app that you wanted.
It shows you everything in batch menu screen.
Sent from samsung vibrant
Only one other suggestion I have is do not back up system apps. Restoring system apps + data doesn't work nicely with one ROM to another. Just use backup user apps menu.
Sent from samsung vibrant
That's just it, she don't want to lose the data, that's my problem
Sent from my T959 using xda premium
Data of system apps?
Sent from samsung vibrant
Data from apps downloaded from the market
Sent from my T959 using xda premium
When you do backups, the data is also included.
When you restore apps later, choose data+app.

If you are going to MIUI, use Titanium Backup sparingly. Do not restore any system (red) apps and do not restore apps offered in the ROM. When I first went to MIUI, I restored my apps one at a time rather than use restore all apps. I didn't have an issue nor did I lose any data. Also, do a nandroid backup and I would backup all the files on the phone to your computer. This way you can move the apps to the system/app folder if things go south. I hope she enjoys MIUI, I do.
How do I move the files to the computer?? What folder is it located in? Do i need to download root explorer for this...I have to completely redo her entire phone and I plan on wiping everything and starting from scratch, I believe somehow someway something was messed up and Miui did not install properly. I want to start her over from scratch like a brand new vibrant off the showroom floor.
Hook your phone up to your PC and pull off the folder called TitaniumBackup and put it on you desktop. Once you "clean" your phone, you can put all that back on your SDcard. Pretty easy really.
titanium backup has a dropbox option now which backs everything up to your dropbox.
and unless she's using google voice, she's going to lost her text messages. similarly with call history. contacts and wifi stuff should be backed up with the google account. so, like the picture posted above, just 'backup all user apps' then after flashing the new rom 'restore all apps with data'.
Backup and restore problem Titanum Backup 8.4.0.2 PRO / Galaxy S9 Plus
Hi
I have used TB 2-3 yrs ago and it wask ok..not many problems.
No I have a problem with all backup jobs I make..all of them not are marked with these smilies but ? ( I guess smilies means OK and no error backup and "?" means some error/missing in backup
And; when I restore a OLD backup With smilies, after the restore the smilies is away/missing and this "?" have apper instead of the smilies, so it seems that TB destroy the old OK backup after it is restored.
Can this error be a fail in options? Something I have to set in options for get it to work?
Hope for answerd ( and hope this quest is posted in correct group. If not, pls tell me

Check my signature. Download the tool kit and choose any of the available devices, back up your data (Full backup), then when you want to restore your stuff, select Full Restore. It's as simple as that.
Galaxy S III is currently not fully available, but any of the device forms will do
Lg
Edit:
Oh, and you're doing it completely wrong. If you downloaded the SDK for Windows, all you need is the Windows shell (CMD, PowerShell).
And you only need to type in:
Code:
adb start-server
adb backup <-f<File location>.ab> <-apk><-system><-all><-shared>
and to restore:
Code:
adb start-server
adb restore <path-to-file>.ab
dude nothing is working

Those were easy steps, you don't have to be an expert. I'm not one, either. I don't even know how to code in Java ^^
Like I said, just download my tool kit, hit "Thanks" on the OP and if you like the tool kit, buy the donate version
The Galaxy S III form should be finished in the next few updates, but the next update (Coming sometime this week) shall have some even more impressive features which you can use

Follow this to backup your phone (make sure u have installed drivers on comp) :
1. enable USB debugging Settings > Developer, enable developer options, then enable USB debugging
2. open the sdk and plug your device in
3.navigate to where adb is. you’ll find the adb.exe file in the platform-tools folder. With the default installation settings, the location is: C:\Users\"NAME"\AppData\Local\Android\Android-sdk\platform-tools.
(replace name with your account name)
4. In that folder hold shift and right click and select Open command window here.
5. type
Code:
adb devices
to test if your device can comunicate with adb
You should see a device in the list – if you see no devices, adb can’t communicate with your device because its driver isn’t installed properly.
6. type
Code:
adb backup -apk -shared -all -f C:\Users\NAME\backup.ab
(again replace the word name)
After running this command, you’ll have to agree to the backup on your device. You can also encrypt the backup with a password here, if you like.

To restore your backup in the future, run the following command:

And you might want to have a look at this: http://sourceforge.net/p/universalat/discussion/general/thread/2e2a5c18/?limit=50#75bc <- That tells you how to write a bug report and that way I can really have a look at it and change stuff in necessary.

Can't stop phone from contacting google

Hello everyone,
I'm using several non-root samsung devices (S8, S9, S10, S20) and I've been removing everything google related. On purpose, I've removed many features/services (NFS, GPS, etc) and I only want them to act as normal phones. I also test them to see how they behave when connected to a wifi, to see if they try to connect to a remote system. Based on my limited testing, the phones use amazon AWS to get version information for samsung updates.
Unfortunately, the S10 and S20 also constantly connect to google at
172.217.169.164:443
216.58.206.163:80
But I can't figure out which packages are to blame. So far, I've uninstalled everything related to google (framework, play store, services, apps, etc). Anyone knows how to figure out which apps are trying to communicate to google?
Thank you.
PS:
here is my blacklist, in case anyone wants to take a look:
https://gitlab.com/samcleaner/samcleaner/-/blob/master/assets/blacklist.json
I have reason to believe that the package "com.sem.factoryapp" is the one constantly accessing 172.217.x.x.
Still not sure about the other IP address, but if pointed to by a browser it comes up with google.com search page.
Hi mate , in my case I installed netguard to block the Google stuff from accessing the internet,,,
I have a question since you published this script you may have some knowledge about adb :
Can we backup a non rooted phone's settings using ADB ?
I want to backup all my settings in the settings app, and the debloated apps as well, because it's a real hassle to go all over from the start if we reset the phone.

@Maybeyou using recovery mode, you can backup user data, it backup all your apps, 2FA apps, settings, etc.. even sd card encryption key in case it's encrypted or you use the extended internal memory option using sd card on android 6
it will generate several high size files on your sd card, and you'll be able to restore you data using the restore function
next time, open your own thread though.

Of course you can backup a phone by means of ADB: this has the advantage the backup gets stored on your PC's disk space - you define the location., whereas Android's stock recovery allows you to backup the phone only to a SDHC-card inserted what must have a storage capacity of >= phone's internal storage size.

Sorry bro for asking my question here in your thread, I still don't know how to backup settings and the debloated apps :
In the non rooted Samsung with android 9 stock recovery, there's "apply update from adb" options and it says " adb sideload" when selected , but I don't know what to do from adb on PC, and another option " apply update from sd card" . Is that what you referring to by using recovery? Can you show me how to proceed please
sorry again for asking here

Update after backing up my non rooted Samsung by using " Adb backup -apk all -shared .....".
I had to reset my phone so I tried " adb restore backup.adb " it didn't restored my debloated version of the firmware, it only restored the apps that I did install + medias like photos and videos .
Is there any solution for that deprecated command ?

Suspicious app update in MIUI 11.0.8 stock ROM

Hello everyone,
Got a notification for an app update with Chinese characters. The description doesn't give out much info. It doesn't give me an option to uninstall. All i can do is Update the app. I am not able to search for this app on the google play store.
If i had my apps on auto-update, probably would have missed this.

Tried to find Mi key app on play store. could not find it. Though googling it gave an interesting info about how helpful it is. Anyways the screenshot which i tried to attach, had an icon the same as Mi Mover and the same description. On the web version of playstore i could find this in English.
But what was confusing when I received the notification was, the app name and the description was completely in Chinese and I didnt have any other option to select the permissions or uninstall. (But guess that goes for all the apps in-built with MIUI)

Mi mover. Not suspicious. It's on the playstore
I guess every chinese app is suspicious.
Poco have many suspicious system apps. Many are not removeable even by root access. I am thinking of installing a custom Rom to get rid of These apps. Some are even more suspicious than normal bloatware. Guys u should also look into a way to get rid of them ASAP.
<UPDATE> Tried everything to remove pesky little apps of miui But no luck even with root access
Apps Used titanium backup , es filr explorer ,twrp, system apps remover etc etc
No luck Kindly help me out

According to the translation of the screenshot you have attached; it's a Mi Key system app update.
And for the icon I think miui developers was too lazy -as always- to find new one.
Moreover, most of miui system apps are not on Google play for ex. ( themes, scanner, screen recorder,... etc.), that's why they have their own system updater in the phone settings and that's the only way to update these system apps.
Anyway, it's a system app update.. So, no need to worry.
Cheers

[QUESTION] How do I restore a Google Backup after a device has already been setup?

Hello there!
I just recently wanted to switch from my old Huawei P20 to a Samsung S10. I went through the whole setup with Smart Switch during initial startup etc. and assumed that this would also transfer app data, WiFi passwords, etc., but it doesn't! This is an exclusive feature of the Google One backup!
Sadly, during the whole file transfer process from old to new, I wasn't notified of the fact that I had never actually run a Google One backup on my old Huawei P20. It just transferred all apps and pictures etc., but never any app data and all that important stuff!
Now, I did a lot of complex things to my new Samsung phone (such as rooting) and I would not wish to repeat all of that!
How can I restore a Google One Backup even without being in the initialization process?
According to Google:
When you add your Google Account to a phone that's been set up, what you'd previously backed up for that Google Account gets put onto the phone.
Click to collapse
I do not believe that. I made the backup from my old Huawei P20 a while ago, my new Samsung S10 hasn't adjusted anything. The Google One App also doesn't show any known backups, which makes sense as these are entirely different devices.
Now, my whole goal is to simply transfer the data from my old Android phone (Huawei P20) to my new Android phone (Samsung S10). The Huawei P20 is not rooted, the Samsung S10 is rooted. I have made backups using Huawei's own software of the phone, which I do believe includes app data, but I have not yet found a way to restore a Huawei backup on a Samsung phone.
The USB-C port of my Huawei / old phone is broken, so it can be charged, but no data can be transferred, hence not even Titanium Backup, Helium, or oandbackup which could backup app data through USB debugging and a computer, would work.
INFO ABOUT MY PHONES:
Samsung S10:
Code:
Model Name: Galaxy S10
Model number: SM-G973F/DS
Baseband version: G973FXXSGHWC2
One UI version: 4.1
Android version: 12
Board: exynos9820
Huawei P20
Code:
Model Name: EML-L29
Build Number: 12.0.0.226(C432E6R1P1)
EMUI Version: 12.0.0
Processor: HiSilicon Kirin 970
TL;DR:
Is there any way you can imagine that I would be capable of restoring my Google Backup or something of equal effect (make a backup with app data, WiFi logs, call history... and restore it)?

This is a lie! This has never happened to me. My new phone simply claims there has never been a backup.

To restore a previous phone’s backup to a new phone, you need the PIN, password, or pattern for your lock screen.
After resetting your phone, tap Start. Follow the on-screen steps.
Connect to a Wi-Fi or mobile network.
When you see "Copy apps & data," tap Next > Can't use old phone.
Under "Copy another way," tap OK > A backup from the cloud.
Sign into the Google Account that has the backup of your data.
Follow the on-screen steps.
Strongly agree! However, your phone needs to be rooted for this which my Huawei P20 sadly isn't! For the future, these options, as well as Neo Backup, will be super helpful to transfer my data!

Good idea! Sadly, only possible when resetting my phone and doing everything again, which I will sadly now do. Wish me luck, folks!
