hello I know this is probably not the right place to put this but I'm going to try. I would like some help and to be pointed in the right direction for many things with android phones as I'm going to say it because its true I'm dumb to this but desperately want to learn I want to learn how to root program and develop with android I would really like to learn how to compile twrp and stuff I know most are probably going to say it ain't worth it but I really want to learn so please don't just delete my post or say f-off I know I'm a newb and newbs really suck but we all have to start somewhere so please point me in the right direction or even help me ill do anything thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link and I have already searched the forums but I don't want to develop an application and I've already downloaded the SDK. I found This but didn't really understand it. I was hoping someone might be kind enough to walk me through where to begin.

boy i sure am glad that some people were born knowing everything. look markspark i'm in the same boat as you, trying to figure this stuff out but some people decide they would rather be rude, if i knew how to do it i would do my best to point you in the right direction but then again i'm not full of myself.

Ok so I've had my Sprint CDMA Hero since it first came out and rooted as soon as I could.
I've searched alot but want to make a Rom from ground up with my friend. We're going to try to make a Rom for both the G1 and The Hero (Through porting). I'm willing to learn as much as I need to, and have a spare computer for Development that has Linux on it.
If anyone wants to teach me I would be greatful

You need to read Cyanogen's guide stickied in this forum. He is the main man regarding Android development and really knows his stuff.
If you still have questions regarding compiling your own rom, you're of course free to ask.
Just don't think the "chefs" will give you a quick tour on rom cooking, since it's pretty heavy stuff and takes alot of time and reading up to get to know the basics.

i know people are busy but ive been trying to theme its just very hard and i was wondering if anybody would take time and teach me the basics of themeing...i know there are guides i would just like someone to maybe take me step by step...im probably not gonna get anybody but if u do decide to thank u sooooo much!
I would say follow the guides and know what it is you are having problems with. Start small with just replacing icons. After icons, try changing the color of something. I doubt you are going to get anyone to walk you through step-by-step without having done anything yourself or at least a better starting point than "I want to theme". If you do get stuck with something, stop by IRC and usually one of the themers is online and could help. But, as I said before, they are much less likely to help you if you aren't trying anything out yourself first, which also holds true for pretty much any other aspect of development and theming.
Hey all! I'm really sorry, I usually only lurk/look around this site, so I don't know if this is the right way to ask for stuff-
To be specific, i'm starting a company project (I run a non-profit organization) that helps people out around the world. I'm trying to change android OS to only do specific things (starting a specific app when you turn it on, etc). I want it to basically be stripped down to only do specific things. If someone wants to help out, can you point me to a place to understand how the OS structure is set up? I saw the programming page, but if it's no trouble, i'd like a little direction. If someone could PM me, that'd be cool, or respond here. I know most of you do this as a hobby, but a small payment for some direction wouldn't be out of the question.

please help me I'm stuck noone has done this model I need some experts and I'm respectfully asking for help, and yes I'm a new-booty to the this stuff! You guys are sad if you don't help me. I just wanted a challenge and I'm asking for first time after 2 years on my own..no asking... of studying all around development apps/web/reg software just trying and I have some killer ideas just need HELP?? I'm very seriously trying to attain knowledge and I've been see others made fun of by thee admins........
