Charging your Mate 20 pro completely powered off - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi
Has anyone noticed that when you plug your phone while powered off, it automatically turns on by itself? it will go directly on the password screen instead of staying in the charging animation when the phone is off.
while the phone is plugged in, i turned off the phone and now this time the phone stays off and the charging animation is now shown.
this is my first Huawei phone and i don't know if this is normal or not. Thanks :good::good::good:

Charged mine last night while having it powered off and it didn't automatically turned on after plugging it in. FW: .153

Mine does the same thing. And I do the same as you...plug it in and turn it off. It still seems to charge quickly; the only thing missing is the fancy charging animation in green.

Yes That's right it does turn itself on once plugged into the power. I usually plug it in first then turn it off, I haven't tried the wireless charging yet so I don't know what will happen but I'll let you know.

Hi guys, thank you for the replies.
I just confirmed this thru Huawei customer service, this is an exclusive Mate 20 Series feature with latest firmware updates.

I usually turn mine off AFTER i put it on charge and last night I put it on a wireless charge while the phone was in its case, and it charged perfectly, the only thing I would recommend is get an Huawei wireless charger, NOT a cheap charger, Huawei has one off the highest charge rates, they are about £40 RRP. BUT you can get a great deal off EBay or have a good look around there are some good deals about

My Huawei mate 20 pro boots up when connected to charger even if i power it off after i plug it.
I think i have found the solution for this problem from this post

- install minimal_adb_fastboot_v1.4_setup.exe on the pc
- boot/start your mobile phone into recovery (vol_down + power, wait until it vibrate) or via the enhanced restart menue (has to be activated in "developer options")
- in recovery choose the option "reboot to bootloader" (you will see different information of you mobile phone e.g. serial number)
- connect the phone to the pc via usb cable
- start the program "minimal ADB and Fastboot on the pc (command promt starts)
- Check the connection state of you mobile phone with the fastboot command:

- type in the following commands:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot oem enable-charger-screen
...
OKAY [ 0.004s]
finished. total time: 0.007s
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot oem off-mode-charge
...
OKAY [ 0.011s]
finished. total time: 0.014s
power off your mobile phone and plug in the charger !!! ?
Also in youtube video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zp9G...ature=youtu.be
in the description says to use this command "fastboot oem-off-mode charge 1"
which is a little bit different from the above post.
I don't feel enough confident to try it my self i hope someone with better experience could tell us if this working.

$ fastboot oem enable-charger-screen
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
$ fastboot oem off-mode-charge
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)

Power on if charger plugged in could save you at some point. An Example would be a faulty Power Button. In which case it would be useful.
But in any case, wouldn't it be simpler to plug in your charger and then power off?

HTC Evo 3D won't turn on or charge! :(

Tuesday night, I was charging my phone and I left it alone for probably 30 minutes. I checked it, pressed the power button, and it didn't turn on! Today is day 3 of my phone not working. No, it is not rooted. My screen is cracked if that matters. It used to restart it a lot.
Yes, I've tried pulling the battery multiple times. Hard reset won't work either. I've tried volume down + power button, both volume buttons + power, even the camera button + power, charging with the computer, using different USB cords, and it still won't turn on. I took the battery and SD card out, waited 30 minutes.. put it back in, no luck.
Could it be a battery problem? Will a new battery fix it? Is it a hardware problem? If I need to replace it, could the Sprint store still retrieve my text messages and contacts? I hate not having a working phone and Christmas is coming up.

Happened to me too a while back. Had to take it in to a Sprint repair center and it turned out that my phone was fried somehow minutes after I put it on the charger. As long as you had your contacts backed up with your Google account you should be fine. Not sure about your texts.

Its a bug in the Recovery
simply reboot-bootloader with ADB and it will charge
HOW TO
you need The Android SDK on your computer
1.remove the battery
2.Put the battery back in your Evo 3d
3.Connect the phone with your computer
4.Start CMD
5. type "cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools"
6.type "adb reboot-bootloader"
7.your phone should now charge just let it charge for a couple of minutes
8.restart your phone
sorry for my bad English
it won't recognize the commands
This happened to me.
1. take out battery
2. hold down the power button for 15sec with battery out.
3. place battery back in phone and put the back on.
4. try to turn on. If it doesn't turn on try a different charger (this worked for me a few times. this worke dfor me a few times i remember back on at&t when i had the slider windows phone htc 8250 i think it needed a charger with more amperage to start the charge.)
5. If the above doesn't work maybe take it in to sprint if you have the warranty.

Thank you so much!!
So, I am in my car getting ready to drive home and my phone won't turn on or even register the car charger. I had the phone in my pocket prior to that. I tried the three button trick, but nothing worked. I drove the whole way home dreading that I had bricked my phone. But thanks to XDA and all the help that is out there, I found a way to fix my problem.
I wish I could figure out exactly what caused the problem. My battery was at about 20-25%. My phone is rooted, hboot 1.4 running Android Revolution HD 1.1.3, and TWRP 1.1.1. I haven't flashed anything in a couple days, so is there any log I could look at to help figure out this mystery? Or is this something that just happens?
Thanks everyone!

You need to install OpenJDK6+, the Android SDK, and the USB drivers for your phone since you're running Windblows. Do that, then open a command prompt window (type "cmd" in the Start menu search bar if you can't find it). Now if you're running a 32 bit OS, the "(x86)" part can be omitted from the command you're trying to use. The command "cd" means change directory, you cannot go to a directory (AKA folder, path, etc) that isn't there. The directory will be created for you when you install the SDK. Google is a helpful resource if you need further instruction .
Oh yeah, and don't forget to enable USB debugging from your phone otherwise ADB will not work. (It's located in: Settings>Applications>Development).

Charging a drained battery

Ok, I tried root, installing a new recovery and then installing CM 7.2
1) Photon Torpedo for root - no problem
2) Installed CWM recovery apk - and then boot into CWM recovery - no problem
3) Backup system to sdcard - no problem
4) install CM7.2 + gapps - it flashed no problem
(now as you can tell, i forgot to unlock the bootloader)
5) reboot - PROBLEM
I got the "Failed to Boot 2" error, i had it plugged into AC and had 70-80% charge when i started, however, i let it set after the reboot for 20 or so minutes, was off doing something.
I tried rebooting a couple of time, same problem
EVENTUALLY: It would simply not turn on anymore, i think the battery is drained and it will not charge being plugged into wall socket or USB.
How do I get it to charge?
- Do I find a friend with a photon running stock that i can put my battery in, will it charge that way?
- Can a sprint store simply charge the battery for me?
I figure once I can get that going, I can run RSD lite and recover via an SBF image.
Thanks
This has happened to me.. battery drains and doesn't whant to boot.. what I do is.. take battery out., plug in ur charger.(sometimes you get a white light,) press power button, YOU KIGHT HAVE TO TRY SEVERAL TIMES until the green light comes on..but once you see it put your battery back in.. and it should start charging.

When I say several times.. I ment unplugging your phone from charger, plug back in , push power button.. and again( until it powers on) not just pressing power button until. Didn't know if I specified well enough. Hope this helps.

i actually tried a different usb port a bit ago and have a white indicator light on now while plugged in... not sure what that means
I will try your way in a bit if this doesn't mean anything useful tho... thanks
K, am nor really sure what the white light is either.. I just know, on stock when you plugged phone to charge (being dead) green light turns on,screen Motorola logo shows then goes to a battery charging animation.. the white light did nothing for me. But hope you run better luck.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
after about 5 minutes i got a green light now... maybe the software for the battery charge display got whacked when i wiped system and tried to install CM 7 - but the hardware part of the charge works.
The only thing I can think of is that white means: i'm charging, but don't try to boot me up at the moment.
I also notice, once it gets a charge it tries to automatically boot - anyway to avoid this?
If its charging you should be able to just boot into RSD lite mode without the phone trying to boot into a ROM..
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
If the phone is off and u plug it to charge, it shouldn't boot into the ROM, yes the Motorola logo comes up as it does when u turn the phone on, but then goes to charging..
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
Well, every time it boots i get the
"Failed to boot 2"
Something about NvFlash (can't remember the text)
"Battery to low to flash"
Then it is just stuck there, but not sure if it is charging at that point or not... but not sure if i have enough battery to RSD Lite an SBF image

Mine boots into *nothing* i forgot to unlock the bootloader so the rom i flashed gives me a "Failed to Boot 2" every time it powers on
K, let me power my phone off and kinda try to recreate the "not charging while plugged in" problem.. (sometimes it happens when I power off.) And ill see wich method gets the phone to just charging.. br
worse comes to worse, i know someone with a photon and i can ask if i can charge my battery in their phone
Just tried it.. and yeah phone wouldn't boot or charge by pressing the power button or connecting to charger.. but I did what I always do.. pull battery, connect charger, green light turns on, I insert battery, and goes to charging.. I also tried goin on RSD lite mode without battery inserted. And I got the same error about battery to low to flash. Have you tried this method I just wrote in this reply to get battery to charge?
Sent from my Mopho Cm7.2
Here are a couple things i tried
1) remove battery
2) make sure phone is not connected to charger
3) plug in charger
4) logo appears - says "Failed to boot 2"
5) as "Starting RSD Mode" starts, i have inserted the battery
6) I still get "Battery is too low to flash"
also tried tried with vol-up (Fast boot mode) and vol-down (NvFlash recovery mode) - and ultimately i get "Battery is too low to flash" no matter what
Thanks for the help, however.
side note: found an external battery charger for the photon on amazon for $4, i might just buy one.
Did u insert battery before logo appears? If so, then I am out of ideas, lol hopefully you can get it working soon.
Sent from my Mopho Cm7.2
I just tried something like that now. The charger is plugged into the wall outlet. Basically i plug it in, green light comes on, quickly snap the battery in place before logo appears
I get the logo and the messages at top as normal, but at that point, i don't think it is charging anymore
Lol darn it.. at that point am out of options.. sorry it didn't work.. btw how you forget to be unlocked lol.. anyhow I would go to your friends, borrow his charged battery just so you can get to stock, and start fresh, then return battery obviously, lol
Sent from my Mopho Cm7.2
Yeah i have to charge it elsewhere - i just read some other threads here about people messing up their boot with a "Failed to boot 2" error, the system simply will nto charge a battery at the boot loading screens... so, I bought that charger off amazon for $7 (including shipping), be nice to have it if i continue to fiddle with the phone.
for the next few days... people can't call me... whoop de doo. However, I am pretty certain it is not bricked, so i'm not freaked anymore.
Still, thanks for all the help you tried!
Could you post a link for that charger, I have a second battery I would like to be able to charge.
Lol.. well there u go,

[Q] (help) stock , wont turn on or charge

I bought a HTC evo 3d off Craigslist, was working fine for a week, switched from an extended battery to the normal one so it wasn't like holding. A brick to my head, was working fine then it shut off, turned it back on and a faint red light came on then nothing. I have tryed plugged on, unplugged, power and volume down, different. Battery's, leaving it on the charger.
Its virgin mobile.
When connected to charger does the charging light come on? If not try using a different charger and/or usb cable. The charger or cable could be bad. Also I am not sure by your post but try using your old battery with different charger/cable.
If the light comes on while charging you could try this but the charging light must come on or the instructions below will not work.
Make sure you have adb setup on your computer along with all the proper drivers fpr your phone. Then connect phone to the computer. The light should come on for a moment blink off then come back on. Wait a couple mins then open a command prompt (windows os) or terminal (linux or mac) and run "adb devices" if it comes back saying
List of devices attached
HTXXXXXXXXXX recovery
(HTxxxx is your phones serial number, recovery is the phones state of operation, the 3d evo is never completely off it goes into a special recovery mode when powered off) if it has a bunch of question marks after the s/n adb is not setup properly. If it is blank below List of devices attached adb is not setup properly.
If it displays s/n and recovery then run "adb reboot recovery". This should boot phone into recovery. In recovery (4ext) look at top and see if battery has a charge.
Post back any results. If nothing above worked i have a couple other things to try.

Looks like you need a factory cable. Team blackhat sells them. I've bought the factory connector. It works just fine. Otherwise you could make a cable yourself. Or if you have a working RAZR around just swap a charged battery for the dead one.

Is the led showing a steady bright white light? If so then the battery has discharged too far. Do some searching on the web. Some people have recovered from this without a factory cable. As I recall you need to get the battery charged up to 5 or 10% before it will go into AP fastboot.
Try holding the vol down and power button for about 10-20 seconds while plugged into the original Motorola ac charger (some report that the Motorola car charger works too, so try both). Don't use USB or 3rd party chargers.
You may need to let the phone stay on the charger for a few hours and then try the vol down and power button sequence again while connected to charger (you may need to repeat this process several times).
Others have reported that removing sim and SD card and then replacing them allowed the phone to boot.

This happens because of a bad battery. It may charge OK but its increased internal resistance will stop the boot process which at peak demands over 1A power supply. If you connect it to a good 2A charger with a short quality USB cable and turn it on, it may actually properly boot Android. So, it's time to replace the battery.

"Damn man! You're the man! It's been lying unused since a freaking year!

Can't believe the SC told me to replace the mobo.
Shall I get a battery off eBay? Is it easy to replace the battery by myself? "
