Need help with a truly bricked GT-I9100 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I have an SII GT- I9100 that I installed a custom ROM on a while back (probably 2 years ago). After a while it got badly bricked I don't remember what happened, and not only that
the charging port was also messed up so I couldn't connect it to my pc (pc wouldn't recognize it unless I held the cable in with force, but even that didn't work after some time).
It's been sitting on a shelf for about a year and I decided to buy a new charging port, replace it, unbrick it and give it to my mom.
I did replace it and I can connect it to my pc now but there's still issues. On my main windows 10 pc it gives me an error "USB device not recognized, the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it". (I've reinstalled usb drivers and troubleshooted with Kies).
I keep the phone in download mode while I am trying to connect it to my pc since I can't boot into anything (I have a yellow triangle and Samsung logo if I don't go into download mode).
On my laptop (win 7) I've managed to get windows to install all the drivers(even though it failed a couple times ?), I've also troubleshooted with Kies, still Kies can't connect to it.
I want to restore it to stock ROM but I haven't been successful.
I've tried many different Odin versions, nothing.
I've been trying a stock ROM for the country and network I think it was on(I don't know it for sure, could this be an issue ?), and a set of CSC, MODEM and CODE XXLSJ files.
In all the Odin versions I've tried it gets stuck on NAND write start !! what's going on here?
Is it beyond repair?
btw. I can't get into recovery mode just DL mode.
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Bricked Tablet, won't connect to PC

I have read through every thread here on brick recover, and none addresses my specific problem.
I have a Verizon LTE Tab.
I installed Rom Manager and flashed Clockwork recovery. As everyone now knows, this bricked the tab.
I have found instructions in various places for flashing a new recovery through Odin3. However, I cannot get my tablet to connect to my PC. I put it in Downloading mode and connect it to my computer. At that point, the computer starts automatically installing drivers because it thinks the tablet is a Samsung CMDA modem. I cannot force it to install the correct drivers, I cannot update the drivers, and I cannot manually add the hardware.
Thus, although Odin3 recognizes a connection, it gets stuck at SetupConnection every time I try to flash a new recovery to it.
Any suggestions? Please help!
I had the same problem with my laptop + my home desktop. I cannot get either of them to recognize my tab. Fortunately for me, my work PC does. I have no idea what the difference is. They are all running Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S running "AT&T SGH-i897" ROM. BIG mistake

I own Samsung galaxy S. by mistake I used the wrong ROM files (odin) and now its running "AT&T SGH-i897 (Captivate) ROM". the home screen is not working and the phone restarting every ~ 2 minutes.
I've tried to update using ODIN but the computer doesn't recognize the phone (not a drivers issue).
On the recovery mode it failed to use the update.zip files.
I tried to format everything, full wipe and factory defaults - didn't help.
Any ideas ?
Thanks,
-Yaniv
if odin doesn't recognize your phone its probably a driver issue, use samsung lies to install drivers ( even if soft bricked), then get into download mode and odin should recognize your phone
had nightmares with stupid odin.
i know what the problem is. it is the computer. get another computer and try. preferably on XP. i went through 3 computers till the damned odin would listen to me.

[Q] Device not recognized in KIES or ODIN

I bought a refurbished galaxy s2 and in the start everything went fine until i flashed CM 10.1
After that rom the pc was unable to detect phone via usb.
So then i did a factory reset from the rom and not from CWM and after that the phone is stuck at the boot logo i.e. samsung galaxy s2 i9100 and a yellow triangle and would not go further. And when it is powered off and i connect it to charger a battery appears with circular loading sign and it wont go past after that.
The phone does not go in recovery mode. just gets stuck at the logo with triangle(yellow).
I turned phone on in download mode and connected to pc but it was not detected by odin or even pc.
I have all the drivers correctly installed.
Things I have tried:
1. Changed the USB cables, tried 5 different computers but still no luck.
2. Removed the drivers completely and reinstalled but still no luck.
3. Cleaned the USB port of phone but no luck.
4. Tried connecting to different ports of pc but still no luck.
Now I cannot go to service center because it has no warranty and it was refurbished so.
Any ideas would be hugely appreciated.
I am willing to repair it myself if anyone could guide me about the hardware problem.
I also have a Nexus S which is connecting to every single PC easily and in every port of PC but S2 just wont.
did you try accessing CWM Recovery mode?
Nope the phone does not boot in recovery mode

The guide is for odin fail flashing but my device is not even recognizing I am unable to flash via odin if it does not recognize my phone .
I have given the phone to samsung service center and they said they would call in a week. I do not have warranty so i hope the cost of repair is within my range
It's about troubleshooting, kinda what you're going thru.

USB device not recognized Win7/8, x64/x86, OSX

Hi All,
I am having an issue with my S4 that when I plug them into my computer I get USB device not recognized. I have searched the forum for the past 2 days trying all kinds of different solutions the major one was changing my USB/charging port board on my phone.
I need to ODIN my device to an MJ7 image. At first I got the error and did a factory reset through safestrap recover. Still got the error so I did an advance wipe of every option. (Looking back shouldnt have done that) That took away my recovery, but I can get to download mode, but its not detected by my computer to use ODIN with. So I am stuck without a custom recovery without the ability to boot into anything.
Here is what I have tried so far:
1. Reinstall/uninstall drivers, reinstall/uninstall kies.
2. Changed USB ports on computer.
3. Changed USB cables
4. Changed computers from Win 8 x64 to Win 7 x64.
5. Changed computer to my MACbook using Heimdall.
6. Changed USB charging port board on my phone.
7. Tried everything again. *Still doesnt detect it*
Any ideas that I havent done already, or how to fix? I do have nandroid backup of my ROM, but dont have a custom recovery to flash it.
Cant ODIN back cause its not detected by my computer. Thanks in advance for your help.
Is USB debugging still checked on phone? You must use the USB cable provided with phone...

Thanks for the reply. I cant select USB debug on my phone because my phone does not boot into the main OS, it is stuck at the samsung custom padlock screen. The USB debug option was on when the OS was installed though. My phone will only boot into stock recovery and into download mode. I tried to use the original USB cable provided with the phone as I read this could be the problem, but I tried 4 other ones too and phone still gets detected as "Unknown Device" in device manager, so ODIN cant even see phone in download mode to restore. I have tried to install KIES and the Samsung Mobile phone drivers 1.5.x.x drivers. Just read somewhere where someone had this issue and installed Samsung mobile phone driver v1-4-6-0 so I am trying that now.

Tried Samsung Mobile phone drivers version 1.4.6.0 and still the same outcome "USB device not recognized". I went down to a local electronics store and bought two different brand microUSB data cables. Tried them both along with my original one from samsung, and still the same result. Any other ideas??
Anyone else have any ideas? Thinking of sending it in and having it JTAG'ed back to stock. Can anyone recommend any services? Heard mobiletechvideos is good.

[Q] No Download Mode Detection Galaxy S3 I9300 O2 UK [FIXED]

Hi, first post here.. so Hi
I have an issue with my S3, i can't get my pc to detect it in download mode at all, no reaction from windows.. if didnt plug it in to the pc at all, it worked once, and it took me reinstalling drivers for hours to get it working, this is when i first rooted the phone using the cf-root method..
When i wanted to install a custom rom a few months ago i discovered it went back to not getting detected and has stayed that way
it's as if i've not connected it to the pc at all, i'm using a rear usb port, with the original cable, below is a short list of what i've tried
Tried 3 different cables
Used a brand new install of windows 7 with SP1
tried various Samsung ADB Drivers
Tried every single USB port, front and back on my pc
Used as many different USB Debugging options as possible
I noticed that when i turn on USB debugging after enabling developer mode, nothing changes on the pc, if i remember rightly my S2 made windows install the adb driver when i turned USB debugging on..
Any help is appreciated with this, never had any of this happen with my S2 lol :/ i've been messing around on and off the last few months with it, thankfully there's Mobile Odin and also Nandroid backups for me to fall back on
Pulling the battery with the cable plugged in while my S3 was in download mode is what fixed this for me...
With the usb cable plugged into the PC but NOT the phone, go into download mode.
Connect cable to the phone, then pull the battery out.
Once windows detects the phone and installs drivers it's safe to put the battery back in.
Phone will be detected by Odin/ CyanogenMod installer and so on.
Why in hell having the battery in stops windows detecting the phone in download mode is beyond me.. unless samsung did it on purpose? lol..
Installed CM 11 using the above method and it went perfectly, but i do have to use the above method whenever i want to flash something using my pc, so it's more of a work around than a fix..
Fix was found on YouTube of all places! hope this helps anyone else
