I have read through every thread here on brick recover, and none addresses my specific problem.
I have a Verizon LTE Tab.
I installed Rom Manager and flashed Clockwork recovery. As everyone now knows, this bricked the tab.
I have found instructions in various places for flashing a new recovery through Odin3. However, I cannot get my tablet to connect to my PC. I put it in Downloading mode and connect it to my computer. At that point, the computer starts automatically installing drivers because it thinks the tablet is a Samsung CMDA modem. I cannot force it to install the correct drivers, I cannot update the drivers, and I cannot manually add the hardware.
Thus, although Odin3 recognizes a connection, it gets stuck at SetupConnection every time I try to flash a new recovery to it.
Any suggestions? Please help!
I had the same problem with my laptop + my home desktop. I cannot get either of them to recognize my tab. Fortunately for me, my work PC does. I have no idea what the difference is. They are all running Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

Hello everyone,
I have been trying to find a way to get out of the Vibrant screen for my phone.
This happen by me having the Obsidian 4.2 installed with Black Froyo, and I was trying to restore to get the Sims 3 and Thinkfree office because it was not available when I flashed my phone.
I have a backup using ROM Manager on my laptop. I am using a Mac, and I have Parallels installed with XP. Problem is I have ODIN installed and been trying to have ODIN recognized the Vibrant in order to start the process, but it has not recognize the device. I thought I had all drivers installed, and I would appreciate any help.
The device is recognized when I have it in the Recovery mode, but not in download mode.
Odin is super finicky but this process usually works. Plug your phone into your usb port while it's still off. Bring up odin but don't put the files you want in it yet. Now boot your phone into download mode. After the com port comes up in odin load the files into thier proper fields and install. Hope that helps.

if you can get to clockwork recovery, you can mount your phone to your computer (the option that says USB, like the 2nd or 3rd option). You could then move a rom with kernel to your phone and flash it.
I think your problem is you were trying to go from 2.2 to 2.1 (nandroids do not restore the kernel, hence it will hang at the Vibrant screen). Perhaps you have voodoo or another lag fix and didnt disable it?
Also, my noob version in my signature show the proper steps for ODIN, and has a video.
Thank you the process work. I had Windows running on Parallels and it messed everything up. Had to reboot only with Windows though. i just resetted everything until I become more familiar with the process.
The vibrant was running CM7 for a few hours until I noticed that it wouldn't charge via USB. It wouldn't charge from the wall outlet nor when plugged into a computer (the computer did recognize that it existed but didn't have the drivers for it).
I tried to recover it but then the process failed and it was stuck in boot menu. The vibrant only loads to the first splash screen. I can put it into download mode however ODIN doesn't recognize it. Nothing shows up. I've installed the Samsung Vibrant drivers and I've tried Kies Mini however Windows 7 32bit won't recognize the device. How can I install the stock ROM if Odin doesn't recognize it?
if u can get into dl mode but cant get pc to recognize ur phone use aio toolbox or get a usb jig that may help!!
or since your on CM7 ..try the Nexus S drivers and see if it recognizes it.
Could it be that maybe USB Debugging is turned off? At this point there is no way I can boot up to turn it on.
All of the drivers I install end up not being installed correctly, I get errors.

Click to collapse
This. You can find them here.
CyanogenMod 7 for Vibrant Q&A
Just press Ctr+F and search ''Nexus S'' and you will find the instructions on how to get them.
I'm having some difficulty. I don't have a phone under my device drivers. All that's showing up is PCI Simple Communications Controller. I click on update driver and direct it to the SDK. Nothing happens.
Edit:
Downloaded the Intel ME: Management Engine Interface driver for the PCI problem. It seems to be fixed. Now my phone is showing up as unknown device. Working on it some more.
Hi everyone,
i'm having difficulties to connect my sgs2 to a pc.
i have tried it on 3 different machines (win7 64, win7 64, winxp 32) with the same problem:
I works fine when i first connect the phone in download mode. But as soon as i disconnect the cable i can't connect it again. Windows sais that it doesn't recognize the device and that's it. The device manager shows an "Unknown Device" under USB-Controller. And i am not even able to install drivers by manually pointing windows to a file.
as already sais, i have tried that on 3 different machines. I have tried installing driver via kies and via the driver file that is available here in the forums. i have also tried different usb ports.
Any ideas?
Goddchen
EDIT: Maybe this is an important information: the phone connects fine as long as it is running (can be found via adb, logcat is working, etc...) it only makes problem when in download mode...
I had exactly the same issue yesterday on my Windows 7 box. In the end I connected the phone in normal (not download) mode. Into device manager and uninstalled the drivers through there.
Then I uninstalled Kies and reconnected the phone, I allowed Windows to search windows update to find drivers (not that it did as it couldn't find any and reverted to the local ones. Then disconnect the phone, re-install Kies, run the install drivers from the tools menu, close Kies. Run up Odin and the connect the phone in Download mode, low and behold 2 minutes later after a lengthy installation process the phone was picked up.
I tried a number of things but for some reason this specific order seemed to sort it.
Hey,
thanks for you hints. But they didn't work for me.
I found the problem: believe it or not, it was THE CABLE. I went and got another cable and this one is working fine all the time. The other one doesn't... Very strange...
Hi everyone,
I have an SII GT- I9100 that I installed a custom ROM on a while back (probably 2 years ago). After a while it got badly bricked I don't remember what happened, and not only that
the charging port was also messed up so I couldn't connect it to my pc (pc wouldn't recognize it unless I held the cable in with force, but even that didn't work after some time).
It's been sitting on a shelf for about a year and I decided to buy a new charging port, replace it, unbrick it and give it to my mom.
I did replace it and I can connect it to my pc now but there's still issues. On my main windows 10 pc it gives me an error "USB device not recognized, the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it". (I've reinstalled usb drivers and troubleshooted with Kies).
I keep the phone in download mode while I am trying to connect it to my pc since I can't boot into anything (I have a yellow triangle and Samsung logo if I don't go into download mode).
On my laptop (win 7) I've managed to get windows to install all the drivers(even though it failed a couple times ?), I've also troubleshooted with Kies, still Kies can't connect to it.
I want to restore it to stock ROM but I haven't been successful.
I've tried many different Odin versions, nothing.
I've been trying a stock ROM for the country and network I think it was on(I don't know it for sure, could this be an issue ?), and a set of CSC, MODEM and CODE XXLSJ files.
In all the Odin versions I've tried it gets stuck on NAND write start !! what's going on here?
Is it beyond repair?
btw. I can't get into recovery mode just DL mode.
Thanks in advance!
Hello.
I have a GT-i9100. It gets stuck in a bootloop, won't let me access recovery mode but it does go into download mode. I have the usb that came with it which I've used for file xfer a lot without any issues. When I try to flash it with odin, odin won't recognise my phone. I have samsung drivers installed and I'm running windows 7. I tried to connect it to 2 different PCs. Is there anything at all that I can do to save my phone? I wanted to flash it so I can try recover some of old photos I have on it. I don't particularly care to make the phone itself usable again as long as I can recover my files.
Thanks for your help.
