Snapped off one of the plastic tabs on my Gear S charging cradle. I'm always careful putting it on the watch. Now it won't stay on to charge. Going to try to get a new one tomorrow. Be careful!

Charging cradle - Gear S broken
I have the exact same problem. The clip on the charging cradle broke. I am also very careful with my devices and was unaware that it broke until it couldn't clip on one day.
Samsung will not honour warrantee on this because they say it is 'physical damage' . I am vehemently arguing that this did not break through any careless handling. The unit is very flimsy.
They MUST replace it. I am waiting a response from them.
I had the watch for barely a month now. How many of these crappy cradles will I have to go through???

This happened to a few people over at androidcentral.com as well. Same answer: Samsung won't honor the warranty, and they had to buy a new charger, which doesn't come cheap. I am super careful now, but feel it's only a matter of time until they all break
I also broke one of the clips on the charging cradle. I was not aware of any kind of warranty, but I have my own solution.
Basically, I attach the charging cradle to the Gear S and slide everything onto an empty vitamin bottle. This keeps the charging cradle attached and I have not had any problems so far. I will post a picture of this when I recharge my Gear S tonight.
Just happed to me...I use the gear s as a standalone device on t-mobile...called them and they are replacing the charger for free. I should e getti it Friday and will let you guys know. Btw Has anyone tried to glue the broken plastic part back on and reconnected it?

Make sure they send you the actual cradle. Others were told they'd get a replacement and were shipped the wall wart instead.

T-Mobile sent me a wall wart without the cradle. T-Mobile doesn't carry a replacement charger.
You may want to call and confirm before it arrives.

My cradle is still OK, but ever since I started hearing about this issue, I am dread having to charge my Gear S.
To all those that have broken their cradles. . . .
Just wondering what technique you use for attaching the watch to the cradle?
Do you centre it then press in the middle or do you locate one tab then press on the opposite tab?
I always use the, one tab then opposite, technique and it seems to work well with no issues so far.

Attach at the bottom then snap the top. Mine is broken. Pops off from the top. The top tab is cracked.
I am FURIOUS and will start making YouTube videos to call them out. Hopefully everyone else can take a few minutes to do the same. Faulty garbage.

I was just thinking that it would be helpful if all of you with broken cradles could post pictures. That's undisputable proof - and once online, it will never go away.
I am also just curious to see what they look like, as I have an idea of what is breaking off, but have never seen the defect myself (yet).

It's not even "broken off" the tab is just not working anymore.
It's going to happen to everyone's. It's obviously the way it is built. I'll have to do a video because you can't tell it's broken by just looking at it.

I document things--I shared everything from photos of the problem to my purchase receipt (privately of course).
I think they are aware there is an issue.

I have realised my battery has gone weak after more than 2 years of usage. I am looking to get a new one.
Apparently original batteries are not available online, I tried to get in touch with authorised service center, even they do not have.
Does anyone know if there are other sources to buy an original battery ?

There are plenty of them if you're from India. I have bought from the same place. There's nothing such as "original". Motorola does not manufacture the batteries. Third party companies manufacture it for them. The one I received was EXACT same as the original one I had. It says manufactured by Sony Corporation. The new battery works like it should. Gives complete one day backup with moderate-heavy usage like Motorola originally stated. Sometimes works for 1 and half days. So don't worry, these are all imported stuff, you can trust them. I don't think there are any local manufacturers for Motorola phones' batteries.

Service centers are fine. They are not supposed to keep stocks of spare parts with them which they can sell, it's not a shop. They order the parts when required.

I don't know why are they refusing but Moto E batteries are easily available on eBay and other online stores and even at places like Nehru Place, New Delhi. They are not fake local batteries.
Battery is not "sealed" bro. There are two back covers, one which you remove by hand and other one is screwed using 16 T4 screws. Just unscrew and remove it and there you have the huge battery which is plugged into the mobo using two very thin wires. Just unplug, remove the battery which is stuck to the inner back cover by some strong adhesive (hands are enough, no heat gun needed) and put in the new battery and plug it in. I replaced mine myself, took me 15 minutes.

Exactly!
I did change battery locally. But this battery only lasted me just over 2 years while i have a sony tipo its from 2010 its battery is in good condition.
Not everyone have that kind of screw driver. But thanks for the headsup.
What about the idea to replace the battery with a "compatible" (so, 3,8v) battery made for any other phone, but that fit in?
In the moto E the battery is locked by an useles/easy to cut-off plastic cover.... the original battery is 4mm (something less) thin... so, if you cut off the plastic, you can replace the battery with something of about 48x73x5mm. So, we need just to find a good battery of this size and solder the small cable in the original battery.
The problem is: which 3,8v battery have the right size?

Hi guys,
my Nexus 9 started to randomly shutdown around 40-50% with some strange noises and screen artefacts. I know some people faced that as well. I've tried to go trough that google support bull*hit and finally when we agreed it's battery issue, they stopped answering - seriously.
So I've removed the back cover - it's pretty easy. The battery is 2 pieces, one is ok, the second is probably dead - very bloated. So I need a new battery and it will probably be ok. BUT the battery is impossible to buy
I've contacted our local HTC partner repair centre, but they told me, they no longer do repairs, they just send it to HTC, so they cannot say how much will the battery replacement cost :silly:
So finally the question - is there any way how to get a new battery for the Nexus 9? Swap is super easy and paying half a price of the tablet for battery replacement, which I can do in 3 minutes is just lame.
Anyone saw Nexus 9 battery as spare part? Anywhere? I've found a guy in Poland, but he's not replying to my emails.
Thanks!

Don't waste your time putting a new battery in it. It's a hardware issue. My first N9 thr exact same issue after 4 months of use and ultimately had to be replaced. There's another forum here on XDA pertaining to the exact same issue. Under 50% screen locks up with a scrambled image and loud noise from the speakers. It's a bad motherboard and the only fix is a new motherboard or new Nexus 9. Trust me on this. You can replace the battery, but it won't help this issue. Sorry

Furthermore, both Google and HTC know of this issue. I swear they instruct their tech people to play dumb.
Sadly that make sense. After I've send a few photos, when I was quick enough to take a photo of the display before shutdown, google support went silent!
These are not a good news, but I thank you for reply and sharing some light on it. I will consider buying a new tablet then.

Makes sense. My N9 has had minimal use (displaced by Pixel-C). Brought it out of hibernation a while back, and it kees crashing (even when on charge!)
I've had this problem with crashing and loud noises several times. Previously I had a charging issue, under warranty the mainboard was replaced. A long while after that the problems with scrambled screen and loud noises started. I then disconnected the battery, and reconnected it, and the problem went away for a long time. But it has returned and even returning more often.
So I ordered a replacement battery via ebay (straight from China), and yesterday I finally found some time to replace it. First thing I noticed the tablet is more responsive, snappier.. It hasn't discharged enough to reproduce the problem, but I had trouble lately with updating apps when it wasn't on the powersupply, which convinced me it was a faulty battery. Now it's updating without charger no problem at all.
2,5 weeks after replacing the battery, and the problem did not come back. I'm happy with it.. pretty easy fix..
So the same problem has been happening to me also, got the N9 up to 7.1.1 and this started to happen a lot more. Seems to be when the battery is low (under 50% or 40%, somewhere around there) and usually when I'm looking at the Chive app, mostly again with animated GIF's they have. I'm not sure it's happened with games since I mostly game on my N6 since it has more RAM so it plays a bit better where the 2GB on the N9 is too laggy.
Any way, so this happens now too. So some say bad motherboard, others say bad battery. Has anyone gone through the trouble of the motherboard replacement? Or have actually had HTC replace the motherboard on warranty? If yes, has it made the problem go away? Has anyone else bought a battery off eBay (I can't find them new OEM anywhere and I hate the idea of a Chinese knockoff so close to my hands and face - ya know, fire) and had the problem go away?
I've replace all manners of parts from various phones so I know I can do it to the N9, which is just a large ass phone. I have to give up my N9 for some Samsung tablet (sorry 7" tablets are too small). I love having a 8"-10", pure vanilla Android tablet. I wish Google would make another one that was like the N9.

I couldn't figure out how to unplug the cables.
You need to pull it vertically from the board. I used a guitar pick to make it a bit looser, then I pulled it of.

Is it still working?
I am pretty sure is the battery connector. I unplugged and replugged the connector and the problem was gone for a few days. I could finally solve it applying a contact cleansing spray to the connector and then using a special kind of glue which is typically used to prevent screws for unfasten. It has worked perfectly since then, no need to replace the battery.

Just wanted to be sure this was the root cause.
Already exchanged my battery in the meantime.
Thanks anyway!
I installed a replacement battery six months ago due to shortening run times on the original battery. I purchased it from newpower99.com for $60. They have an instructional video on their site that shows how to replace the Nexus 9's battery. It worked well for me, giving me a run time that was comparable to the run time when the Nexus 9 was new.
Hello XDA,
My G3 was broken and I have been using G5 for almost 2 months.
A genuine battery was bundled when I bought the phone, so I have a spare one in case one of them is used up.
The battery life of my phone is not bad that I think I only swapped the battery for about 10 times? But yesterday, after I swapped it and turned it on, “Invalid battery...” showed up after maybe 30 seconds.
I came across this issue in G3 too, but it would be okay after a couple of reboot. However, it happens everytime I boot it up.
Habe anyone came across this issue and somehow has a fix for this?
Thanks in advance!

Try cleaning the contacts of the battery with a piece of cloth, making sure debris or any other particle wasn't on it. If you don't know what contacts are, they are the gold strips on top of the battery. Also clean the pins that the contacts press against. Maybe that will work?
Hello, thanks for your reply!
However, this doesn’t work for me..
I noticed a weird thing that the % indicated on my phone is 50% with the questioned battery.
I didn’t notice it several days before. But before pitting it in this time, it was fully charged with the LG batteey charger.
I am not going to play with the battery anymore. I will bring it to LG and seek for replacement. Let see what is their comment on this issue.
