Apparently Honor is not giving away any Bootloader unlocking code for the European version of the phone (PLK-L01).
Someone sent an email asking for his European phone and this is the answer he got back.
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Huawei device.
Sorry that there have no bootloader unlock code for PLK-L01 items.
By default , you can do fastboot downloading for some images directly without Unlocking bootloader..
We suggest you'd better not root your device which would avoid the warranty and maybe cause it freeze.
Once again thank you for contacting Huawei device.
Best Regards.
Huawei Device Customer Care Team 3207
Moreover, according to a French website that interviewed Honor CEO (http://www.frandroid.com/marques/honor/306559_honor-pense-avons-reussi-pari-marque-desormais-connue), they're not planning on having any changes on their ROM policy keeping it private and closed as it's been for the Honor 6.
I guess the only way left is to have someone doing the hack on XDA. Knowing that the phone is quite new we just need to wait a bit before someone eventually gets on it =)
That makes me rethink about buying it...
A phone without root le barely useless
Successfully unlocked my PLK-L01 from Germany.
Used the Huawei Product ID Generator combined with the following page to unlock bootloader: http://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail
My question is, how can I root now? The guide from piskr I think is only for chinese phones?

I've used the tool to load the latest TWRP on my Honor 6 Plus, which I had updated to EMUI 3.1 (Android 5.1.1).
Exactly the same TWRP was loaded succesfully on a Mate 7 with EMUI 3.1.
So my guess is it will also work on the Honor 7.
From within TWRP recovery you can install the SuperSU.zip
So, who will be the first to try this stuff out?

Weren't you the guy from Germany who unlocked his bootloader?
It's pretty safe flashing the twrp recovery from sideload (with the multitool).
IF (!) you have the original recovery image at hand.
Because when it doesn't boot with twrp you can just get it back into the bootloader and flash stock recovery back.

Yes, that was me.
Than I will have a look after the recovery image, because I don't have it at the moment.
And the phone ist still very new at the German market. So maybe I have to wait for it. Otherwise it would be nice to post a link if someone has found an recovery image.

Method to extract stock recovery was mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57271243&postcount=5
Going through Honor 6 forums, you will find plenty of methods that will apply for Honor 7.
I've just rooted my Honor 7 PLK-L01 yesterday.
The unlock code was sent to me by support.
I've followed piskr tutorial but I was stuck in a TWRP recovery reboot loop.
You can solve the problem, by flashing back a stock recovery.
I found a stock recovery that worked for me in the link of this tutorial :
http://www.gizdev.com/rooting-huawei-honor-7-unlockbootloader-root-install-twrp-recovery/#
(direct link to the file http://d-h.st/R6lD of this tutorial)
This was not exactly the same "stock recovery" as the one that my phone had but it worked for me.
PS: I've not tested the TWRP recovery provided in this tutorial.

If it got stuck in bootloop with TWRP, then how did you root it?
Or did you mean that you unlocked the bootloader with the code?
Did you flash TWRP 2.8.7.0 recovery or another version?

Look over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6/general/honor6-multi-tool-t2963060
You can flash TWRP 2.8.7.0 with this tool.
If @VirusPlus will take out the errors out of his script
Or put adb.exe, fastboot.exe and TWRP_2.8.7.0.img in the same folder on your computer and run this while having your Honor 7 connected via USB cable and ready in bootloader:
adb kill-server
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery TWRP_2.8.7.0.img
fastboot reboot
adb wait-for-device
adb reboot recovery
fastboot devices
Is there any recovery rom available for my model? Than I would give it a try.

The TWRP worked fine in adding SuperSU application but was unable to reboot to system.
Reboot system and power off buttons (even hard reset) always leaded to recovery.
(I was also unable to power off the phone)
I was just able to go into the bootloader by keeping pressed the volume down key at reboot start.
(and with the bootloader I could flash the stock TWRP that unstuck me)
I used the chinese TWRP from piskr tutorial.

Should be in the download here:
http://www.gizdev.com/rooting-huawei-honor-7-unlockbootloader-root-install-twrp-recovery/#
if you want to preserve your stock recovery and still use TWRP, you can just boot into any recovery you want..
Just use the command :
Code:
fastboot boot <recovery image>
This will only boot the recovery on the device, and preserve your stock recovery.

Hi guys,
Before you say again a topic on a non bricked One Plus X, I would like to let you know that I've checked and try almost all of the tutorial I've seen on xda and one plus forum.
I was on CM14.1 with this ROM : https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-14-onyx-t3452150
Unfortunately, I made the 25-12-2016 update and it totally broke up the phone..
I download the OnePlus X OxygenOS 3.1.4 on the One Plus website. So I flash it on the stock recovery, it tells me "Install success" then I reboot and it stays on the bootlogo.
For information, I can't access the oem unlock menu if needed, but when I ask the oem device info it says unlocked. The phone is detected by the computer sometimes with unknown device and sometimes correctly with the qualcomm drivers..
I have a back up made from TWRP, I can access the device by the fastboot mode, it seems that all the operations written here worked but it doesn't install or even boot on TWRP..
Thanks for your help guys.

I'm not even using TWRP, since I can't boot on it.. But I tried to flash the twrp-3.0.2-2 from blue spark v41, after the installation via Flashboot, it doesn't boot up on the recovery..
So after flashing TWRP you use fastboot boot recovery.img and nothing happens?

If you did not unlocked bootloader properly then also you might face the problem...
to unlock bootloader: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/general/discussion-how-to-root-oneplus-x-t3242830
make sure you follow all the step. (If you didn't followed these steps then lock bootloader {fastboot oem lock} and unlock using this mathod, worked for me.)

Start by seeing if you can fastboot flash stock recovery from any 2.X.X OOS. Then fastboot flash twrp 3.0.2. If your on new bootloader meaning latest ROMs or OOS3 then you need to boot into 3.0.2 and from there you can flash IMG of twrp 3.0.3. Make sure you boot right back into recovery after flashing any twrp or it won't stick. This worked for me when I lost my recovery twice but always remember at your own risk. Not responsible if you make your phone into a paper weight.
Fix It!

OK, so I flashed TWRP and now I have sort of a halfway bricked x829- I can load TWRP and Fastboot, that's it. I can't adb sideload anything because I get a "cannot read" error. I also can't Fastboot flash anything because all the ROMs I can find are zip files, and not .img files. What am I doing wrong?

even if you forgot to cp the rom onto the sdcard - just flash with twrp from a stick - OTG works fine

OTG not working for me either. I have a USB C to standard USB adapter and it doesn't see any flash drives (I can see the drive being accessed- the light flashes, but doesn't mount). Do I need a USB OTG C Y adapter? I'm a bit lost why I can't just adb sideload.
Someone explain it to me like I'm a child. Obviously I'm doing something wrong and I'm missing something.

ok sounds like a toughie - never had a problem with OTG (neither with fat32 nor ntfs both works (twpr 3.0.2.1 myself) )
since i'm just a beginner myself i can only give you ideas where i would look:
-do you even see your device in adb service?
-enabled usb-debug?
-current usb driver?
-current adb version?
-correct adb version (32/64b)?

I flashed TWRP properly- but when I put it into recovery I get half a corrupted screen- after the screen goes off if I press the power button I can access TWRP.
I tried flashing multiple flash drives in different formats- yes, I can see the drive LEDs flash after I insert it, but when I try to mount it says "0" space for all drives.
So, I assume everything is working properly because adb can see the device in sideload mode (Win 10 device mgr shows it as a USB device, when in TWRP (no sideload mode) it sees it as ADB device- but when I try to run ADB it doesn't show any devices):
List of devices attached
17963e29 sideload
No devices listed when sideload in TWRP is off.
I should be able to sideload something, but I get:
loading: 'le_x2_x820-5.9.020S.zip'
* cannot read 'le_x2_x820-5.9.020S.zip' *
Every time- every file.
Bricked?

you can also transfer the rom first using mtp (in twrp).and flash afterwards.

I flashed twrp, couldn't backup, side load or read any OTG. I ended up booting back into my stock OS, loosing twrp, putting teamspain cm13 on, reflashing twrp from fastboot then immediately booting into twrp and flashing CM zip.
Mine was encryption problem though, cm let me decrypt and twrp started working right

Nope. Just TWRP, that's it. As for MTP it doesn't even show up- just as a Android ADB Device in the drivers when in TWRP, and as a USB Device in TWRP Sideload mode. Remember, I'm stuck in either TWRP or Fastboot mode.

Strange that you lost your OS just flashing a recovery image, I've never seen that before. My last suggestion would be to fastboot flash a earlier version of TWRP.

Been playing with it a bit:
Shows as X820 with 64GB
Fingerprint still doesn't work for me
Google Voice doesn't work- at least I haven't figured it out (Doesn't recognize "OK Google"- I have to go into the app by hand).
Same problem- no VoLTE on AT&T here in US (didn't think it would work- unsupported phone). On Band 2 with LTE (cycled it- was on band 17 before). Haven't checked the other bands yet.
Lots of bloatware. That I can deal with. If I can't get Google voice recognition working properly I'll probably go to a custom ROM.

Note that, flash the above mentioned firmware before installing any rom.
how to stay with stockrom? is it really that bad?
and whats the difference between the aforementioned firmware and rom?
thx for the noob question answers

hey,
i just unlocked the bootloader of my note 4 then i tried to install the twrp via command line.
i always get the error message remote: dtb not found when starting the twrp via the command line.
when i try to boot into twrp via volume up+power button i only see a screen with a usb cable.
i read in different forums that people installed the wrong twrp, so which one is the correct version for my redmi note 4?

Stock Miui is not bad. Stay with that if you like it. But if you install twrp on stock Miui don't forget to flash lazyflasher or you will get a bootloop.
Stock ROM stable is based on Android 6. Custom ROMs usually base on Android7. Because of that you better flash Android 7 Firmware before flashing a custom ROM.

Either Rename the recovery to recovery.img and Reflash the twrp and try to boot with the command "fastboot boot recovery.img''
Or once it's done flashing twrp, do not disconnect your device, just use physical buttons combo and enter into twrp. Iie; volume up +power key.
Thnxxx for your response
But i have downloaded twrp_mido (twrp 3.0.3.0) and flashed it, this recovery is working fine

Hi,
I've built TWRP for the XZ1. Has someone and unlocked bootloader and is willing to test it?
Idk but we need good custom stock!

That's what this thread is about. You can unlock your bootloader on the Sony webpage.
After that, you tell the OP that you want to test their TWRP release.
I´d like to test it, but installation/test requires root, does it not?
I have unlocked BL, but i still have no rooting method

This has not firmware version, it is a TWRP recovery ...
Ok perfect. Thanks.
I'm new to modding Sony phones. There is a thread with the xperifix talking about downloading according to the correct firmware version so I just wanted to cover my ass, just in case.
You're right, there's something with the backup encryption depending on the firmware version.
So what does that mean for me in this case?
how do i access TWRP after i flashed it? i have the bootloader unlocked and i flashed TWRP but when i'm connected through adb and i run "adb reboot recovery" nothing happens except the phone reboots as normal and i'm not sure of the hardware button combo to boot into recovery. I'm thinking it's power+vol up but when i do that the phone just vibrates once then three times and does nothing, not even boot normally.
Can you help please?

Never mind, i figured out the button combo. It's power+vol down when the phone vibrates once release power and hold onto the vol down button

OP, so here's the scoop. Every time i boot into recovery it asks for the password to decrypt, i don't know what that might be so i click cancel. Also i went into WIPE and i formatted DATA and typed YES and it did it's thing and i had to set up the phone again as expected however when i get back into the OS and check the security section of settings, it says it's still encrypted.
I'd like to flash supersu 2.82 but because it's encrypted i can't find the folder i placed it into and i don't have an SD card handy to place it on that to install. And besides i wanna get rid of the encryption anyway so we need to figure that out asap please.
Is there any kind of default password that i can use when entering TWRP to decrypt the data? And how can we remove encryption from the phone correctly with TWRP?
Thanks

Rebooting to recovery with adb is broken in the Sony Kernel. I've fixed that already for LineageOS.

The password is the PIN of your device.

The phone uses File Based Encryption and is normally always encrypted. If you don't set a PIN the password is set to "default_password". If you set a PIN the key to unlock FBE is encrypted using your PIN.

I think for SuperSU you need a special Xperia version they offer here on XDA ...
Thanks for the quick reply. Do you have a working version of lineage for the Xperia XZ1?
Hi
I'm on 47.1.A.5.51, unlocked BL

adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.0-0-poplar-patchlevel-2017-11-05.img

Rebooted into recover (Vol-)
Tried to install SU from https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4164510&d=1496008012 as stated in How to Install TWRP
Got error in installer within TWRP:
Super SU Installer
- Mounting /system, /data and rootfs
- BAD RECOVERY DETECTED, NO UNZIP, ABORTING
Installed latest Magisk zip file from Magisk tread and flashing was successful.
Wiped caches, rebooted and it hang on Sony logo
Flashing Magisk Uninstaller Makes the phone boot again but it warns about corrupt system at boot. Have to reflash stock rom without userdata.sin in order to get rid of the corrupt warning
2.82 doesn't work for Xperia users. I believe 2.79 is still recommend by chainfire for us. I'm about to flash it right now. I'll report back with the result in a few minutes. If you don't hear from me.... Something drastic went wrong! Fingers crossed.

Ok so I got exactly the same result as pergoteborg. I'm gonna do a little research because I think I read something about the "no unzip" in another thread.
So i followed a few steps from another thread to create a symlink to unzip and was able to successfully flash supersu 2.79 however when i reboot into the OS there is no Supersu installed and when i run root checker it fails saying there is no root, also the official Supersu app from the app store says "Root undetected".
The steps i followed to create the symlink are as follows:
1. Boot to twrp.
and now comes the trick
2. Connect your device to a pc and adb push the attached busybox to sbin (took it from twrp from another arm64 device cannot remember which).
adb push pathtobusybox\busybox /sbin/ (replace pathtobusybox with the loacation of the unziped busybox for example C:\ )
3. Open adb shell
adb shell
4. Give busybox the required rights
chmod 750 /sbin/busybox
5. Create unzip symlink
ln -s /sbin/busybox /sbin/unzip
