I've just downloaded Themer (Beta) on Galaxy S4 GT-19505 running android 4.3
I am currently using the theme "Blur" (see attached image; being a newbie I'm unable to post the image in-post)
I use the "Textra" SMS app as I prefer it over the stock messaging app, and whilst I receive notifications no worries in the stock notification bar, I don't receive any notification on the "Text" conversation bubble (the one in the middle); I receive notifications for gmail (the icon on the right), however, no worries.
Does anyone know how I could fix this?
Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion, we'll add it to our list, therefore it should be supported in the next 1 or 2 updates :good:
Has this been updated?
I have the same problem with the same messaging app as the OP. The unread messages number never shows anything other than zero

Not yet. It's still a huge task to implement, so we're going to work on it in the future, as right now we don't have the time or resources. Stay tuned though

That great news, look forward to it being implemented
I am done with this. Module discontinued. I'm done fighting with that icon.
This was initially a request from http://www.reddit.com/user/Angelic276 on reddit. I decided it would be neat so put some time into it. Please note this is still quite buggy and the beta isn't up there just cause it sounds cool. Honestly, this was done as an experiment, and I don't think it will ever be perfect.
Doesn't work:
-Icon
-Sometimes toasts that are in a long "line up" will be delayed, this usually occurs after three or more toasts in succession.
-Code sucks
-?
All the goodies can be found on the repo (source, download, etc.): http://repo.xposed.info/module/ryebread761.tickertoast
Exactly what I was looking for. Great job.
This actually sounds like a good mod. I'd like to see it grow :good:
Seems to work pretty well. I dont really mind toasts, personally, I'd rather somehow disable tickers in various apps (Is this possible?)
Anyway... one app that it didnt work with was "Rescan SD Card". It simply crashes the app, which is an app that only has two toast msgs as 'interface'.
Just so you could fix the bug easier... unless I'm alone with this.
I'm not quite sure I understand why toast notifications became popular when notifications are the standard. I hate feeling like I have to read it fast or I'm going to miss something important. If you want to show a brief message that removes automatically, just cancel the notification bar one.
There always has to be something in an OS that causes anxiety, I swear its like a OS rule that all systems have.

Like, for example, if someone writes me on Skype, it will show a ticker of the name and msg of the sender. I'd rather just it shows the skype "new message" notification icon. Some apps have a "privacy" option - alot dont. Not that I've any idea whether or not this is something that could be done with xposed, it was just a thought... a bit offtopic too, I'm afraid

Ah, that does sound extremely annoying and breaks with normal Android behavior. May I could recommend a replacement via Tasker where it detects Skype message and creates a fake one of its own.

Hard to expect Microsoft to do anything right. Their whole app is a mess but sadly they make sure to keep any alternative clients from existing or working properly.
The tasker alternative seems like a good idea! Can you point me in a direction on a guide how to do this? (I dont wanna keep the offtopic going in poor Ryebread's thread )

I figured it would be a simple search, but this is the best I could find to get you started: http://androidforums.com/tasker/648438-tasker-can-not-detect-gmail-notifications-s3.html
Idea would be to detect notification, then see if detection still works after blocking the notification using Gravity Box's notification block feature. I know blocked notifications still show up in the OS notification queue when blocked on my Kit Kat ROM. Then create a notification from tasker that has Skype's icon and only launches the Skype app.

What the hell!?! I just saw my first clickable toast from the Gmail app... "Show new email from XDA..." which showed up when a thread subscribe email arrived while I was reading a message.
Really google, what is wrong with you. Now toasts are not toasts, stay on screen, and are clickable? Just show a freaking notification or something native to the app. I stared at it for a few seconds waiting to know what the crap was going on.
OP: sorry for pooping on your thread. Best of luck to you, nuke all the toasts.
On my S4, the notification showed for about as long as a toast, and then it disappeared on its own.
Ya, that's supposed to happen. Do you like that or should I add an option to have the notification stay?

The problem with toasts is that the user can miss them, so I assumed your app would make the toasts appear as notifications and linger until the user dismisses them. I guess the idea behind your app is, basically, to put the toast at the top of the phone so that the user doesn't obscure it with his own fingers while doing other stuff. But since we now have Burnt Toast and Buttered Toast, toasts have become more visible, so I actually find a brief display in the status bar easier to miss than a Burnt and Buttered toast.
In that case, yes, I would like the option to have toasts get converted to notifications so that they remain until manually dismissed. That way, you never have to worry about missing a toast if you look away from your phone. As a further refinement, the user could choose on a per app basis whether that app's toasts will be 1) left as system default-style toasts, 2) appear briefly in the status bar, or 3) get converted to a notification that the user has to manually clear.
Love it, i really hate toasts because they block my view and are annoying.
Would be great if you get the icons to work!

There is 2 apps in xposed to control toast. Untoaster stops toasts and enhanced toast which might be exactly what you are looking for blocks certain unwanted toasts.
Nice module. This is exactly what I was looking for. It would be perfect if you could get the icons to work. It would also be nice for some users to have the option to turn toasts into notifications. Thanx for sharing this.
This is just perfect!! Now to get the volume spiders in the status bar

It's a pity that module is discontinued. Hope someone can improve the code. It shouldn't die that way.

I didn't want it to die this way either. There became a point though where the code was so bad, that doing anything with this felt like a fight. This is something I did in my free time for fun. I usually enjoy coding, and making modules, but this one became more and more of a chore. As such, I decided to end development and move on.
As the title calls out this is an ALPHA release of my new app: Gear Notification Extender
FULL DISCLOSURE: THIS VERSION WILL EXPIRE 7 DAYS FROM INSTALL. THERE IS A PAID APP IN THE PLAY STORE . IF YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THAT PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD.
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS ALPHA CODE. IT HAS BUGS, IT MAY MISS NOTIFICATION, IT MAY REPLY TO THE WRONG PERSON.
I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA OR HARM TO YOUR PHONE OR GEAR DUE TO THE DOWNLOADING OR USE OF THIS APPLICATION!!
IF YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE HELPING TO WORK OUT THESE BUGS PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD.
Ok now that you know the risks, lets get to the good part:
What is this?
This app will allow Google Hangouts, GMAIL( and in theory many more) to interact with your Gear S in a more advanced fashion. To be specific you will now be able to reply to Hangouts and GMail messages from your Gear S.
This app integrates with the normal notification model of the Gear S, so these notifications will be in the same place your current notifications are and you will interact with them in a very similar fashion. This is not an attempt to turn our Gear S into a Android Wear Interface.
Things to keep in mind that will likely never change:
1) Notifications Reply capability is lost when my app gets forcefully stopped or you reboot your phone. You can either have old notifications dismissed from the gear each time the service starts or you can leave them there, but reply will not work on old notifications.
2) As stated above this is NOT a Hangout client, you cannot initiate conversations from this app.
How to Install:
1) Install the APK on your phone
2) Open the app on your phone
3) Enable Notifications for this app(First option on the app screen)
4) Set preferences.
5) Enable Gear Notification Extender in the Gear Manager Notifications window
6) Disable Notification for any apps in gear manager that you want going through Gear Notification Extender(Though you can leave both enabled, you'll get your notification twice).
7) Some Apps(Hangouts 2.5) need android wear application installed before they add the proper actions to the notification. I suggest installing it from google play.
8) Enjoy

Features:
Sound/Vibrate control
Special Options for Hangouts and GMAIL
Ability to select which application you get notifications for.
Ability to have Gear Extender look for notifications with actions that the stock app will ignore and handle these notifications even without selecting the app specificially.
Links in messages turned into actions in notification that you can send to Opera
All Actions that are available for a Notification in Android are turned into actions on the Gear. Main action(Usually Reply) gets Icon, all the rest are in the option menu.
All notification with Reply also get the hangouts Preselected text template replies(User defined coming soon).
All Notification have "Open On Phone Action"
Images in Hangouts will come through
Dismiss/Mark as read capabilities.
Avatars can be displayed as backgrounds for Notifications, Also works for music apps that put album art in the notification window DO NOT USE
Handling of Ongoing Notifications like Music Notifications. Will update existing notification in Gear Extender rather than generating new items, to avoid clutter.
Debugger option to allow for testing.
User defined text templates(Your additions are added to the top of the list pulled from Hangouts)
Ability to pull actions out of advanced notification(Google Music, Amazon Music...) "Dig Deep"
Option to have text templates or keyboard reply as default
Workaround for certain languages(Turkish) due to Samsung Bug
Fixed issue with reading notification on watch causes phone and watch notification to disappear(When you had both Dismiss options on). Should now leave the notification on the watch even though the notification on the phone is dismissed.
Better support for other IM applications
Quick fix for some new bugs introduced with text templates
Fixed issue with GMAIL labels not pulling the email bofy
Per-app settings
Smart Relay Support
Known bugs/Limitations:
1) All notifications handled in Gear Notification Extender go in one bucket in the Gear S Notification section. I am working on trying to break them out by source, and maybe even by sender, but no promises.
2) Currently when you read a dismiss a notification on you phone, your options are to leave it on the gear or remove it from the gear, unfortunately I have no been able to simply mark them as "read".
3) Some Languages on some phones seem to be incompatible and cause the the notifications on the watch to be blank.(Workaround now included)
4) I'm sure lots more.
Demo Expiration 7 Days from install.
Version 1.6.1 4/11/2015
- Add Sub Text Option
- Add Remove duplicates option
- Add support for Cloud Magic Email
- FIx issue with crashing when replying to dead notifications
Version 1.6.0 3/23/2015
- Fix for Smart Relay
- Fix for Calendar
- Add ability to specify default action index in per-app settings for "Dig Deep" actions. Primarily for Music players to specify which action button you want as the default.
- Added Notification Actions in "Dig Deep" parsing. Allows for actions that show in the notification panel to work with Gear S.
Version 1.4.9 2/13/2015
- Fix for GMail on Lollipop
Version 1.4.7 1/27/2015
- Per App Settings: Long press on the application in the application list to bring up settings for that app. You can use this for Hangouts/Gmail if you uncheck Hangouts on the main screen.
- Support for ENotify Email Client
- Experimental: Number of Vibration and Sounds
- New app specific setting to turn off notifications without actions(should help eliminate duplicate and garbage notifications)
- Bug fixes.
- New Demo Mode(good for 7 Days from Install)
Version 1.4 1/14/2015
-Can now reply to notifications as long as they were not dismissed individually on the phone. if they are grouped and you dismiss the group, reply should still work
-Instead of constantly updating the event on the watch removing the actions instead if you attempt to reply to a dead notification a new message will be sent to the watch letting you know. For now all actions will cause this. I will fix this to allow links and other action added by my app to still work shortly.
-Grouped messages will now be broken out and details displayed, which was the main reason for dismissing from phone to force ungrouping
- No replies should get lost without an error and more importantly should never go to the wrong recipient.
- The occasional lockup on some emails should be resolved
- Better whatsapp support
- Pausing notifications when not connected preference. If this preference is selected then when you reconnect your watch it will not get all the notifications it missed when it was disconnected.
- Cleaned up the Dismiss on Watch setting to dismiss all notifications for that notiification group(sender).
- Removed Dismiss on Phone settings as this only leads to dead notifications. I will look at better ways to do this in the future.
Version 1.3 1/9/2015
Bug Fix to remove reply action on dismissed notifications
- Most apps had an issue replying to dismissed notifications. I will be looking to provide better implementation for this in the future, but it's better to remove the action than to have them not work right.
- You will only be able to reply to last notification for a given application and only until the notification is dismissed on the phone.
- Sorry for any inconvenience, but it wasn't reliable the way it was anyway.
Version 1.2 1/1/2015
Significantly improved memory management. App should now have a lower memory footprint, and should have more stable memory usage. Should no longer get out of memory that would stop notifications from sending.
New feature to mute recurring ongoing notifications, such as video/phone calls that run timers. Updates still go, but no sound or vibrate.
New feature to dismiss notifications from phone as they are sent to watch. This will stop most notification groupings, which is what stops us from being able to reply.
Better Icon coloration.
I also switched back to having the title icon on the watch have the icon from the last notification rather than the generic Gear Extender Icon.
What's Coming?
1) Obviously Bug fixes
2) Better formatting with images.
3) Better GMAIL formatting.
4) You tell me what you want.

Thanks. ...
Thank you for your work, looking forward to updates. I have been using Notify Gear, but seems hit or miss. Hoping this works out. Would prefer to stick to the stock notifications on the Gear just with the ability to reply.
Looking forward to checking it out when I get a GS.

What phone do you have and what version of android are you running? You probably don't have KitKat? I'll look but I think 4.4 is the minimum os version this can support.
Sounds promising, will be interested to see how this develops. Thanks for your efforts so far.

Very strange. I can't imagine how it could be related to the app. The app has no watch component, except the stock notifications. The only way I could see that is if the the phone was continually sending notifications.
I've been running on my phone for days.
Out of curiosity do you have "Other" Selected?
Was your phone hot? or irregularly drained?

Sorry meant watch is doing on that...
I know everyone has diff experiences, but mine hasn't acted wired in any way. It seems to be working as advertised at present. Just looking forward to it being developed more. I have had apps, not quite sure which one it is yet, that seems to lag and stop my watch from working, I want to say it is one of the news apps. but I ended up having to reset the watch, and uninstalling and re-installing Samsung Gear to get things working again and not restore anything heh.

Since Nothing actually installs on the watch for this to work the on;y way this app could affect your watch is if it was just continually sending notifications to the watch, which you would notice.
I'll keep an eye out for possibilities, but I'm thinking some other app is the culprit.
Now that I have 6.0 on my AT&T V10, I'm a little unimpressed that two features I thought would have been added to Marshmallow apparently don't exist yet:
1.) The text message theme
- I hate the ugly yellowish/orange color of the default/standard SMS android app. I've seen on other phones (NOT V10) where it changed to red with the Marshmallow update. Is there any way to change the color now without having to use a different SMS app?
2.) The camera icon on the lockscreen
- I read on several pages that with the Marshmallow update, there would be a setting to be able to disable the camera icon on the bottom of the lockscreen. Sadly, it doesn't look like this happened either. Is there any way to turn this off? It's rather annoying.
I realize everyone just got the AT&T V10 6.0 update, and there may be some learning curves, but I just wanted to know if maybe it was just a global Marshmallow thing and if anyone has already been able to do either of these.
Thanks
I don't know if i'm the only one, but I've got a problem to get notifications working well for Facebook messenger. On my older phone, I received an instant notification when a message was sent to me. Now it can take a while (15-45min or more).. If I go in the app, it's like if the applications was asleep, because it shows no messages. I need to refresh the view and it shows the new message(s). I don't know if it's a p9000 bug or Android 6.0?
I try stock rom and Eragon v 4.8, same problem.
