Request for Help on a T-Mobile unlocked LH V30 H932 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, Total newbie here, hopefully OK to post. I have an unlocked LG V30+ H932 which was originally a T-Mobile phone. Fully factory unlocked and IMEI checked with T-Mobile as no issues. I am with a different carrier and phone works perfectly except for two issues. The Voicemail number is set to 123 and the option to change it is not present. It is greyed out and locked both under Voice Mail settings and in the Speed Dial preset for Voice Mail at #1.
Second issue is a constant error message comes up when I turn on WiFi calling: Error ER05 "Invalid SIM Card"
I have asked T-Mobile to help, but to say that attempts to explain the issue have been unsuccessful would be polite:victory:. Can anyone help?? Thanks

LS990 Working on Big Red

I installed the ZV8 L update via TWRP to mantain root.
At the same time I proceeded to use the GSM unlock method by changing the build.prop from SPR to either spr, ATT, TMO, VZW, KDDI, and other carriers that are in the hidden menu to no avail. Each time the setting menu would change to the carrier selected.
I decided to try the carrier unlock via the "carrier folder copy method" found here on XDA. After doing the mod, the phone was working on GSM without a hickup, so I can confirm it does unlock the GSM part, also, I did a network scan, it detected ATT and conected to ATT. I DID NOT try to make a test call. (I am from south of the border (Mexico) but live in a border town, I pick up US carriers because of the proximity to the US) Today I traveled to the US, but was so busy with other things, that I totally forgot to see it the phone would connect to ATT, since ATT is my service provider when I roam in the US.
Just as I was going in to Mexico I remembered about the phone, got it, and noticed that in the carrier it said "LG" instead of the usual ATT carrier when I roam. I tried to do a call, but a recording I have never heard before said that my account was not configured for this type of call.
By then I was in Mexico, and could not do any more tests. I reset the phone, and it picked up my mexican carrier without a problem.
I decided to do the NV/RUIM trick from this post..... http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/unlock-sprint-ls990-cdma-carrier-t2985523
After the mod, my phone rebooted with no service. Right before the reboot, I pulled the battery and placed my nano VZW sim in.
After that I went ahead and modified the build.prop and changed the carrier from SPR to VZW. Did a reboot and when the phone came on I got a couple of UI crashes and hiddenmenu crashes. I went to the mobile settings and changed the phone to Global, and, in shortcut master I changed the network setting to CDMA/LTE/EVdo. A few seconds later, I got signal bars and went ahead to make a test call........at first I got a busy signal, decided to make another test call....
Call went though. Voice was perfect without issues.
Random UI and HiddenMenu crashes, but call go in and out.
In the carrier I get "Partial Service Functionality"
These tests have been carried out in MEXICO, while I am roaming with the mexican carrier, I am not in the US and cannot test the call features, SMS, and/or LTE.
Any one out there in the US would like to test this out?
Also, any coder out there able to figure out how to fix the random UI and hidden menu crashes?
If I flash a Verizon Baseband to the phone, will I brick the phone?
Will I still be able to boot the phone to TWRP to reflash a Sprint BB?
Would a guide of what I did be necesary?
Too soon to post a link for beer donations, or is this something that has/is been done?
UPDATE: I dialed *228 and pop up came up (2nd picture)
Reserved.... who knows.

Text not working on T-Mobile (VS985)

Good morning
We recently switched from Verizon to a T-Mobile pre-paid plan and the idea was to use my wife's Verizon G3 on T-Mobile. Everything is working fine for us but Text. Most of the time it just will not send. I have changed and done all I could think of our found on the Internet with the APN settings, tried Global and GSM under Network Type etc.
Typically after a reset the text will work for some time and then stop working again. We have tried with her Rooted phone on Jasmine and also my phone which was returned to Stock since I am trying to sell it. Same experience in both instances.
Any ideas?
here are the Access Point Settings we currently have
everything works for me now, i just cant send nor receive picture messages. It always says message expired.
I checked the APN and settings match.
Thanks for your help.

LG V30+ Plus AS998 Sim Card Issue - cant make calls

Hello guys, my name is Ruben im from Peru
First of all, excuse my english, i will do my best to explain my problem
I bought this lg v30+ on ebay (LG-AS998) its unlocked and works great but i cant make calls.
I put my sim card in and i have full signal, 4G, and can enter internet, apps, play, watch youtube and everything works great but when i want to make a call i enter the dial, put a random number press call and the phone show this message "No Sim Card, or sim card error" . I also cant recieve calls. I have others phones and i test my sim card and it works perfect in others phones so im sure its a problem in this phone.
By the way, the phone has the AS99820b version. I also enter the hidden menu
*#546368#*998# - Service Menu - Test and The USIM card test is PASS
Does anyone has this same problem or knows how to repair it ?
Im thinking on buy the sim card reader on ebay and change it (not the trail, the whole reader) but i think maybe is not a hardware issue because i have full signal

Try flashing to US998 Oreo firmware. See Frankenstein thread on how to do that. One, on the remote possibility your phone is SIM card locked to previous carrier that will carrier unlock it.you will be able to have access to newer updates. Two, you will be able to have access to newer updates.
Also, check your APN in the mobile section of Settings. Should be the APN of your carrier and should be set as the default (green).
Hi Chazzmatt, thank you for your quick reply.
The apn is perfect, im using my carrier apn and i have full signal 4G, i can use chrome, youtube, whatsapp, everything just cant make calls, thats why i think the phone is not sim carrier locked, i wont be able to use data neither, am i right? And i can receive SMS also!! Its weird right?
I will do the Oreo flash when i back home :good:

You're welcome!
Yeah, you have to DL PARTITION when first moving to new variant firmware, like AS998 to US998. "Upgrade" can only be used when already in the firmware.
In the Frankenstein instructions, you normally DL PARTITION to US998 Nougat first, THEN then "upgrade" to US998 Oreo. But there's exceptions. H931 has to DL PARTITION at both US998 stages, Nougat and Oreo.

Messaging Problem in LG V60 ThinQ T-Mobile (Unlocked)

Hello guys.. My cousin lives in the US and he purchased an LG V60 recently - unlocked ofcourse. Now the thing is, the messaging service is totally off. The stock app isn't sending/receiving texts.
He has already tried using a lot of messaging apps (setting them to default), also inquired that the phone is unlocked, removing & reinstalling SIM and even getting the SIM card replaced. They even tried network reset and band changing stuff but it didn't help.
Even in Google Messages, He gets the msgs hours or days later & whenever he tries to send a msg, it shows either "Sending..." Or "Insert SIM card to avail this feature". But if he restarts the phone, since the app hasn't sent the text, it says "Tap to Resend". On tapping, it works fine but only for each and every msg - whether sent or received.
If you know a way, or have encountered this with any android, please help !
there's a lot of info missing here, fyi
- what's the carrier?
-are they on latest update?
-what us the exact model number, look into setting. this will tell us the variant of LG v60 your cousin has.
-did they attempt any tampering with bootloader or rooting?
-do they have good signal?
give us all the info to better help. add as much info to each answer as possible.
TRY THE FOLLOWING
factory reset the APN settings.
next if that fails, factory reset the phone.
I'M also in the US and have used many messaging apps and have had none of these issues.
I asked him about the questions and this is the exact reply :
1- My current carrier is Mint Mobile. (They use T-mobile's network)
2- My phone is on Latest update on everything (OS, messages, etc )
3- Exact Model number - LG V60 Thinq 5G LM-V600TM
4- I didn't tamper with bootloader or rooting.
5- Good signal ? Yes. I have full bars and it has been confirmed by Mint mobile customer service. They've checked it multiple times and made sure that that's not the reason I'm having problems with Messaging.
He has also done network settings reset upon request of the customer care from Mint mobile. They said sometimes that helps. Other than that, he hasn't done anything apart from changing the default app from LG's to Google's Messages.
He just noticed this [attached image] today from Settings - Network and Internet - Mobile networks - Network Unlock(View Current status and inquire Network Unlock Eligibility) But when he talked with T-Mobile Customer Care a few days ago, he gave them IMEI and they said it's unlocked & that he's free to use it anywhere.
P.S. He isn't into Custom ROMs & modding & I don't know much about Unlocked phones so I had nowhere else to go for help. Thanks for taking the time out to reply

LG G8X and Wifi calling fix?

I have two used LG G8x - G850QM (unlocked) and G850UM (Sprint unlocked).
I am on T-Mobile for years.
The G850QM on T-Mobile shows wifi-calling on the menu and it works.
The G850UM has no wifi-calling switch on the menu, just not there.
I installed WiFi Calling app from Widget7 from Play Store. The app seemed to bring out a hidden WiFi calling menu. And the WiFi calling works. I confirmed the WiFi calls on my T-Mobile bill portal.
Hope this can help

I used two different VoLTE Check app. Both indicated VoLTE ACTIVE.
I dai!ed *#*#4636#*#* to go into Diag menu. "Phobe Info" indicated that
VoLTE provisioned
Video Calling Provisioned
WiFi Calling Provisioned
EAB/Presence Provisioned
But all the "switches" were grayed out.
This is in my daiily driver LG G8X g850UM on T-Mobile.
I assumed VoLTE is working automatically.
Most people with tmobile on this phone have found that for calls the phone goes from 4g to 3g when making a call. You will only see this transition if you are looking at the 4g indicator while on the call.
The concern is when T-Mobile discontinues 3g next month then you will not be able to make phone calls.
If you dont mind you might take a look as you make a call and see if it stays on 4g.
I understand. I, with 4 LG phones on Tmobile, am in the same boat with a lot of people. And I have purchased more LG phones- 3 V40 , 1 G7 and 3 Q7+ before I learned about the network transition.
Tmobile did a piss poor job in explaining the 3G shutdown.
Today is 4/1, with my Sprint-unlocked LG G8X, I can make a call and the LTE indicator stayed on.
This is what Tmobile has announced.
As of March 31, 2022, Sprint’s older 3G (CDMA) network will be retired
As of June 30, 2022, Sprint’s LTE network will be retired
As of July 1, 2022, T-Mobile’s older 3G UMTS network will be retired
Also Tmobile has delayed Sprint 3G shutdown until May 30.
Downloaded app and enabled, but all my buttons are still greyed out and it definitely still goes to 3g during a call? Not sure why it is not working on my phone?
It has something to do with the combination of native ROM, TMobile or Sprint SIM card in use, provisioning of VoLTE, and the (T-Mobile) LTE channels supported in your phone. I have not figured everything out yet.
It will be a rough ride for me until July 1 when the transition is over.
Forget what I've posted. I f'ked up. I mixed up 2 models.
I just received a T-Mobile email telling me my daily driver G850UM does not have the Volte turned on.
I looked up Phone Info and found Volte Provisioned switch is off and grayed out. When I wrote the post on March 31 the Volte Provisioned switch was on but grayed out.
I swap SIm card to the G850QM phone, and the Volte Provisioned switch is visible and in ON position. Look like I need to switch phone near term. And then find a way to cross flash QM firmware onto UM model. Need research. Fvk T-Mobile and the other two for doing their fake 5G rollout.
Thank you Buontinh. Got Volte, WiFi calling and video calling on my LG G7X G850UM on 20P software.
Uploaded the modded abl_a to both _a and _b. Insert an active T-Mobile SIM card, got new TMobile bootup logo. Got the wifi-calling switch. Got into Phone Info and saw votle Provisioned, WiFi calling provisioned, and video calling provisioned. Grayed out however. I made a call to my landline and the 4G LTE light stayed on. I guess it is working.
Still on Android 10 however.
The most difficult part was to get the phone on EDL mode. Must have tried 20 times before getting the "dark screen" EDL mode, only to learn that a Qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 driver was needed too.
So I followed the below directions from reddit and it worked great on my velvet. I did the same thing on my LG g8x with *#546368#*850# code and I now have Volte, however phone still drops to 3g when it makes a call any thoughts on how to fix that?
There is a way to force enable VoLTE on the "LG Velvet 4G Dual Sim" specifically your version which is the "LM-G910EMW".
By default the feature is disabled on this model variant for who knows why.
Follow the steps below: 1. Click on the "Phone" app and dial "##4636##" -If done correctly it'll automatically bring you to the "testing" settings menu.
Click on "Phone Information" -you should see a list of VoLTE settings however by default they are disabled and greyed out but don't worry there's a way to reactivate VoLTE. (You Will Come Back to this Menu later)
Go to your file app and create a file named "enable_ue" -thats all you need to do just create the file, nothing more nothing less.
Go back to the "Phone" App and dial "#*462633*#910#" -This code is specific to the variant and will not work on other non LM-G910EMW Phones. Dialing this should bring up the "Hidden LG Menu"
Select Field Test>Universal Enabler>Create New Config -a menu with check boxes for VoLTE options appearing
Select the boxes as follows "VoLTE" "ViLTE" "VoWifi" "ViWifi" And finally hit "Confirm" -a prompt will appear stating "Vo Services Updated"
Immediately restart your phone to allow the settings to kick in
After your phone has restarted go into your Settings>Network & Internet>Mobile Networks -If done correctly the VoLTE option will now be unlocked and available.
Switch on the "VoLTE"
Now to double check that your phone now truly has VoLTE enabled, repeat steps 1-2. If done correctly the menu should now say "VoLTE Provisioned Video Calling Provisioned Wifi Calling Provisioned " -if these 3 are all switched on then you have successfully force enabled VoLTE on your LG Velvet 4G Dual Sim LM-G910EMW, congratulations!

Hello, I sintalled the app and it leads to a LG look menu I never encoutered with a WiFi calling switch !
However, when I go back to the app, then press again the button to open the menu, the switch is disabled.
Any idea how to keep it active ?
