After flashing the latest unofficial LOS, my phone now asks for me to decrypt it upon boot and in TWRP recovery
My PIN is not working and "default_password" isn't working either, what are my options?
I can't access anything at all
EDIT: I managed to downgrade (to no avail) and then upgrade again using the ADB Sideload feature, the password is gone but it seems so is my data... any chance it's gonna come back?
EDIT2: I just did a factory reset :/ its fixed now

I've got a strange problem on my Nexus 6P.
I've changed my password on the 6P (running Cyanogenmod), and ever since then, I can't enter my TWRP recovery, because it can't decrypt anymore. I've tried both the old and the new password in TWRP, but it can't decrypt it. The new password works without any problems to decrypt the phone when booting it normally into the OS, just not for TWRP.
TL;DR: Changed password in Cyanogenmod on encrypted phone, now can't enter TWRP recovery anymore, but can still enter the phone OS.
Any ideas? Perhaps I could somehow reflash TWRP without losing data? Or will this mess up the encryption even more, so that I possibly also couldn't enter the OS anymore?

I see that bug too so I've reverted back to a working 2.x.x.x version. Flashing recovery has no effect on your data.

So how do I do this exactly? I can't enter the recovery at all. Do I have to do something in ADB? And you're saying, just installing an older TWRP version will fix this, without having to do anything else?
Hello guys,
There's a problem associated with encryption of my RN 3 Snapdragon edition. Some time ago, I've officially unlocked my bootloader, to flash any custom roms I want, whenever I want (before I was using the way around it, where unlocked bootloader wasn't necessary).
OK. Back to my point, when i unlocked my bootloader, I installed Resurrection Remix rom and it was android 7.x.x I think. Somehow I was offered to encrypt my data, to have better security of my phone, etc. So I encypted it. Then everytime I turn on or reboot the phone, I was asked for a PIN code during the rom start up screen or when entering TWRP recovery. I forgot that my phone was encrypted, and I formated/deleted all possible data on my phone (internal storage, cache, etc) using TWRP and installed a fresh Lineage 8.0. Then it asked for a password on first boot, if i want to use my old data, the old password was not correct and i just chose the option to forget about old data and use it as a new phone. The phone didn't boot at all. It booted only after installing stock MIUI rom via FASTBOOT with miflash tool, and then installing the Android 8.0. But until now it shows, that my phone is encrypted in the settings menu and when i enter TWRP, it tells me the phone is encrypted and I can't see my files on internal memory and it's hard to flash the phone, as I have to use adb sideload or some other ways, but I cannot use the TWRP in normal way.
BTW, I tried factory reseting, wiping everything I can, installing official MIUI roms several times and so on, nothing helped.
If you have any thoughts please write them below, any info is important,
Thanks in advance

You obliviously choosed to "Require Pin/Password/Pattern on boot up" when setting up your pin code.
To decrypted the device, you will need to Format Data (Not wipe or Factory Reset), and flash any of following before booting the device:
SuperSU, Magisk, Custom Kernel or FED Patcher.
Thanks alot, it worked.
I've formated data, flashed fresh rom, gapps and custom kernel before first boot up from TWRP.
Reminder!
If you update your rom,
make sure also to reflash the custom kernel before booting the device.
Otherwise your device will encrypt on boot.
I have unlocked bootloader officially. Have the latest TWRP available for Kenzo, latest firmware, using Aroma Gapps from opengapps.com, NitrogenOS Oreo 8.1 latest build.
I encrypted my phone from the privacy settings in the settings app due to obvious reasons. Now while booting into android, it asks for encryption password and the set password works here, but when i reboot into recovery, TWRP asks me for the encryption password. Here starts the problem, even if i put the correct password, it won't decrypt my data saying that the password is wrong. Previously when i was coming from miui, the decrypt function of twrp worked flawlessly.
How to fix it, please help !
Just full wipe and format internal and reinstall custom Rom.

Due to oreo 8.1's security twrp can't work here. You need to use latest version of twrp. May be it solve ur prblm. Encryption is unique way to encript data. U have encrypted ur phone by ur phone's default encript option. So, try to decrypt by using default option. If you haven't found that, you need to format to decrypt.

1) iam using the latest official twrp for kenzo
2) the official way to decrypt my phone is to reset it, that is loose all data.
Btw i did use an encrypted lineage os 15.1 and twrp worked back then and i don't remember doing anything different.
P.S. i do miss blackberry playbook OS

hi
i just update my mi a3 from June to October update (first updated to September and then notify me immediately for October update). now every time i turn WiFi or hotspot on it turn back off.
something that maybe cause the problem:
i use magisk tutorial for updating and then i realize it was bad decision and twrp is gone. installed twrp (via fastboot then twrp.zip) and magisk(via twrp) again and then face the problem. i don't check that it was there before reinstalling twrp or not.
how can i fix it?
update: it seems like twrp not working with October ota. i install alogcat and searched error. it lead me to this threat where twrp made this problem with same errors.
i reboot to twrp and now i stock in it. rebooting to system take me back to twrp. decryption isn't working anymore(no prompet for pattern).
i just can reboot to fastboot!!!
i managed to download 10.3.8.0 pfqmixm and extract images from it. flash all of them in slot a and b via fastboot. then flash twrp and it decrypt my data. phone boot to system now but wifi and hotspot problem exist. if i flash stock boot.img phone show a page that it coudn't load system and maybe my data was corrupted. it give me to option: 1. try again (reboot) 2. factory data reset.
any suggestion?

hi
i'm on android 11 (12.0.7). i use lucky patcher on my phone. phone start behaving strange. i restart it. it pass android logo and wait some time on mi logo and then show a message: "can't load android system your data may be corrupter ..." and give me two option. try again or factory reset.
i don't want to lose my data. is there a way to access to my storage and copy them before factory reset or fix it without factory reset?
what i tried:
1. flash 12.0.7 recovery rom. same result
2. try to temprorary boot to twrp to enabel mtp but after flashing twrp.img and restarting phone while holding volume up button , phone go back to fastboot instead of recovery.
p.s. i know talking about lucky patcher is forbidden in this forum but as you can see my post is about restoring my data not lucky patcher.
update: i was trying to flash twrp 3.5.2. i try 3.5.1 and successfully boot to twrp. internal storage was encrypted and twrp couldn't decrypt it(didn't prompet for pattern). but from twrp i wipe cache and dalvik and then reboot to fastboot and flash stock boot and reboot. after some time it pass mi logo and show "hi there" screen. after selecting laguage it stuck on "just a sec..." screen.
update2: i try deferrent version of twrp. v 3.3.1.17 by prompet for decryption. but it set to enter password and i only have pattern.
Lucky patcher... read with attens the thread about twrp... I think this is your problem.... Probably on a11 can do what you want to do
