Dimple in the screen of my S10e - Samsung Galaxy S10 Guides, News, & Discussion

Didn't notice it at first, but realized I had a small ~1/16th diameter dimple in my screen. Never seen this before. You can barely feel it but its there. Doesn't affect display at all and only noticed in the right light on an angle. Straight on it looks fine. I've decided to keep it since display isn't affected, but others might me a little more anal about this sort of thing. Is this a one off anomaly or is there a QC issue? Check your screens!
S10e G-970F (exynos), ordered from never-msrp on ebay.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/223396384078

Oh man, that would be a deal breaker for me. I could never unsee that. Is there a screen protector on it that might be the issue?

Oh, hell no. Sorry. I know the E dosen't cost as much as the 10 or 10+ plus it's still a great amount of money. I can let this pass on a USED unit, not new. More power to ya, though.

Bummer! Hopefully it's just the screen protector...

Like galaxys said, it could easily be the screen protector.

False alarm- screen protector flaw. I'm sorry guys I completely forgot it came with one from factory. Took it off, dimple gone. I'm relieved, but regret posting, I don't want to spread bad info about this phone, especially since everyone's already knocking the exynos variant.
Mods if we can delete that'd be great.

Glad its sorted! Your thread could help others with similar questions....

Helped me. Looking hard at that model and seller. Thanks for the info.

The phone's great and got it for a good price. I say go for it.
I have TMobile and have VoLTE and WiFi calling working as well. Signal strength every bit as good as my unlocked Pixel 3 in this area (currently Salt Lake City).

How have you already gotten your S10 E? Mine still hasn't shipped. Says March 8th.

How do you like the fingerprint scanner on the S10e? And how is battery life?

Wana hear about battery life, thank

And yet, do you know that the screen protector on the S10 line has a 3-month warranty ? I read this a few days ago. You may or may not want to do something about it

Chrome peeling

Search in this forum isn't working and no results with Google so i will post it here. The chrome around the camera is peeling after 5 days. I have babied the phone since i received it and never put it on and hard surface so I have no clue how this could happen. I already had to replace the battery cover because the first one was scratched out of the box. time to return? I hate to have to keep exchanging and complaining at the store but paying full price for a phone and already seeing that this phone cant hold up is disappointing.

Just exchange it for a new phone unless you have an international version. I'm sure it's still under warranty. Exactly what response were you looking for?
I have a feeling this phone is extremely sensitive.
I got mine yesterday and I'm not sure if it came out the box with a nick on the bezel or I somehow did within the first hr trying to activate my sim because the folks at Walmart didn't.
But it's there, it's tiny, but it's bugging the **** out of me.
Hope I'm wrong, but I'm hoping a case helps out.
I had the S2 without a case, but this one is too slippery for me, I'm afraid I'm gonna drop it.
I would exchange it!!

LG G5 hollow sound when tapping the middle of the screen

Hey. Just got my new LG G5, but I've noticed something weird. Namely, when I tap the middle of my screen it sounds and feels a bit different, like either the screen was raised there or there was nothing beneath it. I'm wondering if I'm the only one experiencing it.
EDIT: The best test is to repeatedly start tapping it in the middle in quiet surroundings and then move to edges and say if you can hear and feel the difference.
UPDATE: LG's support response is that if the touchscreen works properly there is no basis for RMA.
Bump.
Is there a screen protector on it? If not definitely not normal. I'd ship that to LG asap. I am not experience this issue and haven't heard of it from others.
Side note man I feel bad for a lot of you users. I don't got any of these issues so many of yall have. LG G6 will definitely wait few months before I get it. Had a few lower-mid range LG phones. A lot of these issues seem to carry over to LG G5. Which is unacceptable for a flagship device.

No screen protector, but maybe it's because of the modular build? It makes sense that it wouldn't sound so hollow near the edges, since the phone has something underneath it there, whereas beneath the middle of the screen there's only a battery, which is removable, so it might not be just built too well. I suppose that I should ask LG themselves about it. Anyway, thanks for your comment.

I have the same problem but the noise is slightly different but not too different unless you're trying hard to hear it. How severe is this problem for you?

You may want to consider the fact that other people viewing this thread have no such issue with their handset and have no input to give? The obvious solution would be to send it back to LG if you are unhappy with it...or..live with it?
It does not appear to be an issue with the actual functioning of the handset though..
My G5 actually makes some strange noise when you shake it. Kind of like something went loose.
But it only happens when one specific battery unit is inserted.
I didn't measure the the thickness but I assume it's related the little difference in thickness of these batteries I have.
Hope this might help.

That would make sense. They might have left some space there in case the battery is thicker, so that it wouldn't get stuck.

Samsung galaxy s9 plus screen issues

Hey guys,
I just received my new Samsung Galaxy s9 Plus and I have realised that my device is faulty. But I really don’t know if I should just let it be, or ask for my device to be exchanged.
So basically on the screen there is two lines which are visible only when the device is turned fully off or when always on display is showing on the phone.
Do you think I’m being to picky?
Do you think the issue wold get worse over time?
Has anyone else had this issue before on the s9 Plus?
Do you think it’s the coating on the phone that is the issue?
Ps the screen is not cracked, does not have any dead pixels etc.
it would be helpful if you could post a couple of photos of the screen so that we can see if there's really an issue or not.
but if it really is a issue, i would bring it back immediately for a exchange especially given how much the phone cost

I've contacted samsung, I will let you know the end result.
Erm, are you sure that isn't the thin tape that runs down the edge of your screen protector!?

I have the same lines. It's at the very edge of both sides of the screen. It's almost as if you can see the touch layer.
Just a quick update, I spoke to Samsung and they said it’s the first they heard of the problem, currently it’s been escalated to a higher department, I’m going to receive a call back today, I’ll update you with anymore info,
Ps can everyone contact them who are also Having this issue as it will only help with making the case stronger as a whole.
What screen protector are you using? Mine is the bodyguardz glass one.
I don’t have any screen protector on the device. The situation is so stressful, it had to happen to me lol

After more research and a closer inspection I do believe it is the adhesive at the edge of my screen. I also found pics of other people discussing this issue with zagg cases. This is my first curved screen so I was unaware of how they curved tgsp worked.
Thanks Chris.

First: If you were read article you will knew that Samsung said it is manufacturing side effect so maybe it is not so obvious to return the unit. The defect is in the same place on all reported phones... Could be hard to get one without it as guy in twitter try 2 times and both have the same issue.
Second: If you were look inside the twitter comments you will see that it is not only uk but also in usa and other regions that are affected.
Third: 23u is my primary phone, so not so easy to just return it and stay without the phone as i also use esim. And more over i can get another unit with the same defect or even they will not accept it as they mention as it is side effect of manufacturing.
Right now it is not disturbing the use of the phone, but as i know it is there it is quite not comfy...
It's really irritating that people look for this nonsense that doesn't affect the functioning of the phone one iota and then share it around and ruin everyone else's enjoyment of their devices.
I can confirm that my US Ultra has this. Never would have seen it if it wasn't pointed out.

First - I read it, if you are not happy with the product, don't use it, simple. You still have 14 days to send it back if you are not happy, vote with your wallet.
Second - And? Not sure how big % of phones got that issue, but same as above applies, if people are not happy they should send units back. Maybe then samsung would acknowledge issue.
Third - No one force you to stay without phone, if you sold etc. your previous one or sent it back for trade in, then make a complain to Samsung.
And fourth, if you read my post with understanding you would get that I do not defend them. Sending back bad/wrong/broken etc product is our right, Samsung and S23 is not the only phone on the market, if you have issues with them, than feel free to buy something else.
I was angry with oneplus few years ago and guess what, I am on samsung now.

The problem is it's not supposed to be there at all. Not on my N10+'s. On a display that's not acceptable. It's a manufacturing defect and right where it's always in your face.
Worse, pretty sure Samsung was aware of this defect but they shipped them anyway. Like a brat they do what they want then make lame bs excuses for their actions. This isn't a injection molding tab Sammy, it's a screw up.
At this point there's no telling if over time it will get worse and/or spread. I'd return it for a cash refund especially at this price point, where the defect is and Samsung's condescending attitude.
but this is only visible with a strong light source, with certain angle of light with screen off. it has no impact on usability. i have seen it in the past on other curved displays

I upgraded to s23u with EE and i got it on 13th , 512gb ,green. Everything fine, until 3 days later when i installed a Samsung screen protector on,using a flashlight i was eyeballing for dust particles using a sticker. Right bottom corner i noticed a smudge, wiped off, still there, anyway upon close look ,in certain angle using the flashlight, i noticed this crease/bubble/dent around 4mm in width and 2mm height . To me it looks like a dent inwards rather than a bubble. Checked my pixel 7pro,nothing, checked my missus s21plus(flat screen),nothing, then i remembered i have stashed a galaxy s8(still works a take faster photos than s23u though) anything like this, screen was perfect.
Don't get me wrong, only in bright light ,shining directly on the screen you can see it. The touch screen works perfectly.
I contacted EE, the tech support said it looks like delamination or sort and could spread in time, right ,i said i do like the phone and i would like an exchange. EE delivered next day the replacement, as you guessed, same issue, this time half in size, almost not visible, but because i knew where and how to look ,i spotted it right away. Also very fine crease on the right, but almost not visible(unless you know what to look for).
Can i live with this ,yes i can,do i want to take a risk, thinking that potentially, ot could spread over thetime, hmm ,i don't. Opened a second return.

I think the issue is that most people wouldn't even notice if someone didn't point it out to them in special lighting. I think you should be able to discuss and point out anything you deem flawed. But on the other end you should also expect pushback from people who think you are just being spoiled when you have the option to return it. I have noticed it on my Galaxy S23 Ultra US version but only by looking at it in lighting. I think the device is fantastic and even with that little flaw I will keep my device since I can't really notice it since I have a case on it.

It's probably present on certain batches; some will have it, others not. A major QC screw up. If the defect was minor you wouldn't be able to see it at all.
This is a defect that could effect the survivability of the glass. Glass is subject to some of the laws of hydrodynamics. This deformity causes new stress points. It may not crack there but in another area of the display, hydrodynamics. Glass is a peculiar substance with bizarre properties. Of course if it breaks Samsung will say it's your fault for dropping it.
