The above score was from S10 that I had for a day before replacing it w/S10e (8GB/265) and look at that, no compromise here whatsoever...
btw. love this co-called small factor 10e, It's compact and it's perfect - the finger print sensor reliability: 100.000000000%

"finger print sensor reliability: 100.000000000%" --- my apology for this erroneous statement, it turns out, after more diligent testing,
that the percent accuracy is 99.9999...%

Ahhhh...gotcha. I went back and looked at it again and noticed it this time. I just got my GS2 and it's still charging, but I'll take some pics when I turn it on and post back with the results.
Is this on all pictures you take?
Here's a picture I just took...

That's not as bad, but my Infuse had zero issues, same with my iPhone 3GS.
The lighting is pretty bad in this room as well, so that explains the difference between my photo and yours.
Edit: @SPIDERTECH: It seems to be on ALL photos in crappy lighting. Can't notice it during the day while outside.
Just googled the issue and there are tons of documented cases and complaints out there Seems to be an issue with the hardware.
Take a picture of something that isn't viewing-angle-dependent before claiming there's an issue please.
My first instinct is that the camera is somewhat IR-sensitive (this is EXTREMELY common in cell phone cameras due to lack of space for a hot mirror filter) and the screens being imaged have higher IR content when viewed dead-on. (In both pictures, the red spot appears where the camera is viewing the screen dead-on. In the first picture the camera was centered in front of the screen, in the second the camera was at the lower right aimed up and left.)

That explains a lot.....So it's not a hardware fault? Just a limitation?

I'll take a further look at it tonight, but IR sensitivity is not exactly rare in digital cameras, especially cheaper/smaller ones. Good hot mirrors (IR-blocking filters) cost money AND they're large.
Yeah I have the same problem, I took pictures of the tile floor at my parents house, and it had a red center to it also, is their a way to fix this?
Also for the love of god, why does this video camera not have image stabilization? every video is shaky as hell.

'Dot' on Sony Smart Watch

On the new Sony Smart watch there is a dot to the left of the display where there is a hole in the black backing to the glass. This is also clearly visible on all the product drawing in the user guide. Any idea what this is for, is there some currently unused sensor or LED behind it?

Why do I see the underneath components of the fingerprint sensor under the display in direct sunlight !
because you bought a phone with under display fingerprint sensor ?

I don't think it's normal for the components to be visible! It is very annoying and distracting

You don't see it the components of the finger print sensor the small and large square between number 5 and 8. They are only visible in direct sunlight on light/white wallpapers
Did you expect a component that is able to read your fingerprint, located under glass, to be completely invisible in every possible situation? ?

Actually OP has a pretty valid point, and you are being just annoying. Nobody expects to see stuff from under the screen no matter what on any device. Only the display contents are supposed to be visible.

The above being said.. I don't think I can see this under my screen. I have never noticed this (but have not looked for it either). Either outside under sunlight or inside; on bright and/or white background apps. Mine is BOE screen, not LG, if that makes any difference.

This! Exactly, thank you.
Mine is BOE with serial production batch 18c28.

Fingerprint reader word of advice.

If youre struggling with the in-display fingerprint reader then read this. I was having a terrible time with mine, reprogramming it over and over trying to get it to work consistently. Well i finally figured out what it is.
You need to very lightly rest your finger on the reader and it will work every time. Dont press hard at all or it wont read your finger correctly.
:good:
Even while using the light touch approach, it still wouldn't unlock just now when i woke up. Seems it need a software update or something.
I've got a screen protector and to me it seems the opposite. When resting your finger gently, the sensor does not recognize the print, but pressing down does work 9/10 times for me.
Not sure what's going on here...
My thumb works 10% of the time...my index 90%
Miss my HTC U11's home button fingerprint reader...
I've doubled up on the finger prints and it works slightly faster

I'm not really having any issues. It's not 100% accurate but is actually better than my Galaxy s9 one was

I have the same result. I find if my finger is perfectly straight and lightly pressing the screen seems to work best.

That is 100% wrong, I have the s9 plus my GF have the s9, never had a issue with either phones, the Lg is on a daily basis. I doubled up on the scan but same thing, the LG G8X finger print sensor is crap among other things.

You're joking right, this is my 6th phone with a finger print sensor, first with a sensor in the screen but that does not change anything. The Lg finger print sensor sucks, I'm not sure what you're trying to defend, it is what it is and yes I tried what the OP the first day I got the phone, including adding the same finger 4 times but it was no better than 3x, compared to the S9's the LG G8X sensor is trash.

Goodbye troll, have a nice day.
Gonna have to agree that the fingerprint sensor on this works better than my Note 10+. It isn't quite Note 9 accurate but after factory reset and sensor test, it works extremely well for me.
Try this:
Program the same finger more than once..
Mine works instantly 100% of the time even at 1% battery typing this now. It doesn't matter what angle or position. Program each finger the way you hold/want to unlock the phone.
And turn up the screen sensitivity esp if using a screen protector.
I came from a v30+ and thought i'd miss the button on the back. Just takes some getting used to.

How To Guide Fingerprint: Excellent recognition - that's how I got it working finally

I was about to send my Pixel 6 back to Google.
The FPS recognition rate was poor compared to the Pixel 4a (5G).
I had tried multiple scans of the same finger, but it didn't really work.
In particular, the right thumb was rarely recognized to unlock.
When I initially scanned my fingers, the sensor was already having problems recognizing the respective finger.
After almost two weeks of unlocking frustration, I had an idea how it could work better.
Yes, it worked right away. The learning process was done very quickly and the recognition now works flawlessly.
Most notable despite installed armored glass!
So this is how it worked for me:
1. In Settings switch on better touch sensitivity.
2. Clean display (or protective film) in the sensor area
3. In Settings + add fingerprint
4. Briefly wipe the forehead with your finger (in order to picking up a little skin fat and thus making the imprint more visible to the sensor during the learning process.)
5. Follow the instructions on the screen carefully.
Thanks to the skin fat method, teaching was done much faster and with fewer attempts, and unlocking now works - despite the protective glass - super fast and 100% reliable.
I hope it works for you as well as it does for me.
If so, please comment or click Like below this post so we can get an impression that my sensor training today was no coincidence.
Oh yes: I even degreased my fingers with isopropanol. The recognition rate was still without a glitch.
Worked great for me even with very cheap unknown brand glass protector. Thank you.
Interesting. I've followed instructions and will report back.
Ha! I've never had an issue -- but then again I use a moisturizer.
Sounds logical. I always felt, that a slightly moist finger gets recognized better on any optical and ultrasound fingerprint reader.
Yes, however not perfectly intuitive that the issue is the initial setup of the prints.
I'm really surprised how nicely unlock works now. I have 100% recognition and it's almost instantaneous.
there was an app update in the PlayStore from Android system intelligence. After that, the recognition for me is now great.
Google should ship phones with a small bottle of moisturizer.
We need to upgrade our fingers to "smart fingers" which automatically adjust to the correct moisture level for Google's FP scanners.
I surely hope they fix the worst of it through a system update.

Or even better: A batch of compatible fingers.
I use this screen protector fingerprint works great for me. Also it feels a lot like glass in use. Easy installation as well.

Whats funny is I bought a similar one from rhinoshield that was more expensive and this one works way better. Fingerprint performance was bad with the rhinoshield one. This one works perfect every time.
This one is working great for me. unlock with FP each time

Hi
Does your method work with dry hands too?
Thanks!
I've got dry hands and the method works for me.
Think about it:
How is the device supposed to be recognizing a print properly, if it never had the chance to learn it properly in the first place?
