My Picture are showing Gray with a white explanation mark - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Notice others are having this issues since the latest update.
- I take a picture on my phone, turns out great, then I go to access it later, and more than half the picture has a grey block over it! I don't have a photo editor installed and I'm not cropping the pics. But it keeps happening.
The few that show up in my album, once I click on it to expand it turn gray with white explanation mark like the others.
Is this a defect ? I saw on other forum that people have this issue. My issue just started and I have had my phone for over 1 year with no problems unitl now
Any help would be appreciated, as I've lost a couple of photos that I'd like to get back!

one question, all pictures turn into gray or just a part? seems it might be the problem of your memory.

[Q] Screen problems?

I bought the phone about 2 hours ago (I had the last version too). However, just before I did that I came here to read a little bit about the gps (to see if it was working or not) and then I saw many threads about screen problems and others... so I started to get a bit worried about getting the phone but I did it anyway
Well... during a quick test of the phone I saw that in my contacts and in the task manager screens appears to be a problem (I think)... the left top icon (contacts) has a small color degradation in its border from dark blue to light blue. The Task manager has the same thing but on its right side icon. Its pretty small but I am not sure if its decoration or just a problem of the phone in those 2 "screens" cause I dont see any more color problems elsewhere.
Does anyone else knows what else should I check (most common problems)? To check them out and see if got them too so like that I could go to the store and get a replacement.
Thanks a lot guys!!!!!!

Hi mate,
Don't worry..it's not a screen fault but a feature..
when you see the little colour degradation on "Contacts" and "task manager" means that you can slide left or right to see other features.
Just test it your self, open the contacts application and slide where you see the colour degradation.
Your screen is good, you don't need to go get a replacement.

[Q] Screen/Software Issue S3 - Need People To Test PLEASE!

Hi Everyone,
So I have noticed with my new S3 that when I do certain things my screen colours are change. For instance if I am watching a movie using there new picture on the home screen thing and then I set it back to full screen and rotate the screen and then put it back on the home screen the text in my text messages is all screwed up and has a white border around all the text. As soon as I close the video this issue resolves it self.
Would this be a hardware or software issue and can any of you please try this for your self.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Can some of you S3 owners please do the following.
1: Load up a video with the default player.
2: Use the picture and picture feature.
3: Then return the video to full screen by tapping on the small video.
4: Then rotate the screen with the video playing to full screen.
5: Then return the video to the PnP mode and load up your text messages.
You should see your text has a white haze around all of the text.
Can someone please confirm.

Your phone comes with an LCD test menu. You could use that to check for any issues on that front.
Following instructions from The SGS3 Indian FAQ and Discussion Thread could help you out. Thanks to Bala_gamer
* Enter the dialer and input the following code "*#0*#, it will give you a set of options to test the mobile.
* The same lcd test menu can be used for testing the tint issues, the main menu of the lcd test should look white rather than pinkish white or warmer white. you can either decide it yourself by your eyes or compare it with another AMOLED screen.
* Black dots are present on almost all AMOLED panels with varying intensity. Its not an issue. But if you still want to check for lesser dots take your mobile to pitch dark environment and load a complete black wallpaper, once your eyes get setlled to the environment look over the scrren. you will notice those spots.
I hope this tells you where the problem is. Lemme know if it works.
Hi,
Thanks for the information I tried it and everything looks good. I went down to my local Optus dealer today and I could replicate the same issues with the pebble blue handset they had on display. It seems to me it's a software issue.

Well, what do you know. You were right!..Never would've even thought of that, come to tell you the truth. I'm afraid I'm completely out of my depth here. I've faced the same issue. Try posting the question in the forum I posted in my previous reply. The admin should be able to figure it out. I'll second your post.

[Q] Screen flickering

First of all, I'm new to Android phones and this forum I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, if not, let me know.
I've purchased a Cubot One, knowing what I can expect and it really works fluently, but it comes with an issue, annoying sometimes.
Left half of the screen flickers (in a very exact way, just left half), depending on what it's showing. For example, desktop 1 shows the wallpaper and icons flickering, but if you go to desktop 2 that effect disappears. It never happens in an open app, except if it's showing a bitmap or icon, and not always. If you're in the block screen it never happens. If you're using, let's say, Whatsapp app the screen is perfect, and in most of apps.
I make a complain to the seller and waiting for their diasnogtic, but I thing it could be a software issue, so I'm writing here. Could anybody make any suggestion?
Thanks

Whatsapp convo "stuck" underneath the display

I know the title sounds crazy, so let me explain.
I've had this issue for quite a long time now but never gotten into it.
Basically, when I open a white image or whatever light colored app/background, I can recognize a Whatsapp conversation in transparency, almost like it's stuck underneath the display.
So I tried opening the recovery to clear cache and I noticed the same exact thing when the recovery was loading (light blue background).
You can find a picture below. The top portion is my phone's display while the bottom is a screenshot found on Google (cause I needed the old layout for Whatsapp chats).
By the way, the phone I'm having trouble with is a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge updated to Android 7.0 (the update didn't fix the issue).
Thanks to everyone in advance
This is known as image retention or burn-in. It is a characteristic of OLED/AMOLED displays when the same images are held at high brightness/intensities for long periods of time. There are apps/tools/methods which claim to reduce, remove or in some way fix the problem but please do your research as there is a good chance they can make the problem worse or introduce new problems. I have not investigated further other than methods of prevention. Also, organic light emitting diodes/pixels have a given lifespan. The screen will lose brightness and color accuracy over time. Blue diodes will fade first, then green, then red.

Question Jittery images in Google Photos galery

Hi folks,
I've got a VERY STOCK NON-ROOTED Pixel 6. It's fully up to date including the latest June update that I took this morning; all apps up to date.
For several days, maybe a week or more (who knows how long, but not more than a month), images in Google Photos appear jittery. These are static photo images, no animation or re-rendering should be needed. but, if I watch that screen, some, not all of the photos in there, look like they are being re-rendered, ever-so-slightly differently (like off by a pixel, back and forth) flickering maybe two or three times a second, on the Google Photos home screen (the one you get as soon as you launch the app, before scrolling and tapping into any particular picture) When the flicker happens, typically the main picture in the middle of the screen and at least one of the partially visible pictures below it will flicker at the same time. If I don't touch it, the flicker sometimes settles down after some time (20-30).
Anybody else see this? It's easy for me to reproduce: just make sure Photos is closed, then tap on the home screen icon for Google Photos. The flicker persists if you scroll down; it's not just the pics at the top that flicker/jitter. Again, it settles down afte some amount of time. It's only this app, not the phone generally, and only for the first half minute or so of using the app before closing it.
Any ideas what's going on here?
I'm curious if I'm the only one seeing this. I'd be interested to hear replies even if it's just "me too" without any ideas for solution.
My present theory, which accounts for it "settling down" over time is that after it loads the visible initial pictures, it's still loading pics below into memory to have them ready for scrolling; this loading action may trigger occasional redraws that cause the jitter I see.

I've been trying to help a friend with a Pixel 6 Pro with this exact thing happening, so it's not just you. (I just checked mine, and while I hadn't noticed it before, I can see it happen on a larger image on my Pixel 6 Pro as well.)
I have pixel 6 pro I don't have that problem I think I found out why it has an update I just checked now
