Pixel Experience CAF - Fast Charging? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Is anyone else missing the fast charging feature of the Poco while using the Pixel Experience CAF ROM? Using the Ampere app, my phone measures a really low charging current compared to that of stock MIUI. Is this an issue on other custom ROMs such as LineageOS? Any replies would be much appreciated.

Chrysalis Mod has been removed. I really don't know why. It was a great mod and unlocked the true potential for my poco (else it throttled like hell).
Thankfully I have a backup.

Thank you for creating this topic!
I installed a new ROM (from mod stock to LineageOS) and modules magic, put it at night for charging, and the maximum charge current is 0.5A. Since yesterday I have been looking for the source of the problem, at first I didn’t even believe the solution.
But removing this module, everything began to work fine. 94% of the battery charge and charge current min 1.2A.
Device: Samsung A520F
Solution v.2.0: problem if only in the case of a "Full" version installation. When you select the "Slim" version, everything works fine.

Hello,
I need rom suggestion(in terms of battery life and performance). I have used Cloudy G2 3.3 with dorimanx. It is a good rom, but sometimes the phone freeze. I also used RESURRECTION REMIX M but this rom has some bugs.

You using this rom in your dilay life? Can you tell a bit about is pros and cons?
sound quality and camera in all CM roms are bad
i like using edited stock roms and desperate rom is the best rom now i did try all roms
desperate rom also is the future of LG G2
battery life is great - camera u have two amazing cameras - too many editing - fast like wind - ui5 and ui4 interfaces - blurring effects - full screen caller photo and recording calls automatically if you want - etc.......

I'm using it as my daily rom on my main and only device.
I'm using the latest release with gapps, customized the gapps installation to remove some apps i don't use.
The battery life is a lot better than stock, it's fast (no hiccups).
I don't think the sound is bad, at least with earphones and during calls, the phone rings louder but it distorts a bit.
The camera is worse in low light, if you take photos with good light you won't notice much difference imho.
Take a look at this picture taken this monday with snap (http://i.imgur.com/yMpKMuF.jpg).
I have two issues that i don't know yet if they are related to CM13 or my account:
- Gmail labels are grey after setup. I have to change a label colour, go to all mail to fix it.
- My Android doesn't show in Android device manager.
So i recommend it.

Correct, just seems to be a cosmetic bug. Even though it says it would be charging slowly on the CM13 lock screen, it actually seems to be charging just as fast as with the stock Lollipop ROM.

Wrong. The battery life on CM13 is worse compared to stock Lollipop.
With stock Lollipop the battery drained almost nothing on standby, with CM13 the battery is draining on standby.
Also, with stock Lollipop the phone never became warm during light usage. With CM13 the phone is getting noticeably warm even during light usage.

I have one question in regards to CM13.
I used it for like a day and it's blazing fast in general use but in games like Asphalt 8 (I just use it as a "benchmark") it stutters and it seems that 3d performance is worse. I later found out that you can set the phone in performance mode which fixes stutters but then all my cores are at 100% and I don't wanna melt the phone and battery.
So is this common with you guys as well? And is there some sort of a fix? Switching to performance mode and back is kinda annoying.
CM13 also lacks video modes like 4K,60fps and 120 fps slow-mo recording.
I am using CandySix 6.0.1 + Kernel from DU

[Mod][6.x/7.x] Xthermal Mod -Fast Charging + Some CPU/GPU Tweaks

Original thread for Nexus 6P is located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...t/xthermal-mod-fast-charging-cpu-gpu-t3433784
Hi Guys,
I'm back with the Xthermal Mod.
But this time it is for Nexus 5x.
Introduction:
Nexus 5x is one of the best handsets we have now. No doubts about that.
Nexus 5x has also got one of the best Fast Charging.
But why I always get around 800-1100 mA current while charging?
Max to max I get 1400-1500 mA current.
Is this the best fast charging I can get?
Then I opened my thermal engine file and started working on it.
Goal:
Xthermal_Fast_Charge: Here I tried to boost my charging current/speed while keeping rest values to their default.
Xthermal_Performance: Here I tried to boost my charging current/speed + Same basic CPU & GPU tweaks are also applied.
Also tested with roms based on "N" aka Android 7.x.
Downloads:
Links for Marshmallow and for Nougat: See the attachments.
How to apply:
1. Download the zip
2. Reboot to TWRP recovery
3. Flash the zip and reboot.
Wait let it settle a bit...
Now check the difference using Ampere app...

I have flashed all 3 zips and no matter which one is flashed the script always reads inside of TWRP "Back To Stock"?
Cool tweaks, pretty similar to the thermal throttling tweaks detailed in this thread months ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guide-thermal-throttle-tweaking-t3395681
I'm not too wild about the battery temperature tweak here. Li-Ion batteries shouldn't really exceed 45 Celsius when being charged. The problem with these batteries is that the hotter they get, the worse rate they charge at. On top of this, higher temps reduce the battery's overall lifespan. Bottom Line: The temperature threshold for the battery in our phones is there for a reason.
Thanks for posting. I am currently on ElementalX with various over clocking enabled. Will this interfere with that in anyways or cause instability?
this changes whatever changes i may have already done to thermal.conf?

Confirming this definitely works... I'm impressed truthfully. My charging speed was always crap, 300 mah with the 2.5 charger from Google, now it's 1750~ mah
Because I'm not sure, say I have a custom kernel, will this alter or negatively affect anything I already have going on? Or does this just modify only the charging?

Does this tweak work alongside the Thermal Throttling Tweak by Razorless. Lost my charging brick and using an iPad one and the speeds never get to what it used to be, would love to try this out. Thanks

[EOL] Unified Thermal Mod (UTM) [UNITY] [ALL ROMS]

Introduction
Hello everyone! Some of you might recognize me from the Xthermal Fast Charge thread, where I had earlier created and posted unified zips for modifying the stock thermal config file on the Nexus 6P, combining the work of two different mods, namely CTTMod and Xthermal Fast Charge Mod.
Since I was earlier maintaining my unified zips in the Xthermal Fast Charge Mod thread, I have now decided to create a separate thread for them since there is still interest and I don't want to unnecessarily clutter somebody else's thread. Let's get straight to it then!
Detailed Information
CTTMod - Thread Link
When CTTMod was initially released, it changed certain values in Nexus 6P's stock thermal file to raise the temperatures at which the phone would start to use thermal throttling. This change led to an increased overall performance and the phone could be used for a longer period of time without any crippling of performance due to thermal throttling, at the cost of heat. Therefore, after using this mod, the phone would feel slightly warmer as compared to how it would've felt if this mod had not been used, but with higher sustained performance.
Xthermal Fast Charge Mod - Thread Link
When Xthermal Fast Charge Mod was initially released, it also changed certain values in Nexus 6P's stock thermal file to raise the temperatures which prevented the charging current to exceed a certain value (usually ~1500 mAh to 1700 mAh) even though the stock OEM charger was capable of delivering a current upto 3000 mAh. This change led to an increased average current drawn (~2600 mAh to 2800 mAh), thereby leading to a decrease in the time taken by the phone to charge, again, at the cost of heat. Thus, a faster fast charge.
Unified Thermal Mod
Since both the base mods target the same stock thermal file, they can't be used together and using one would override the changes done by the other. In other words, one can only use CTTMod or the Xthermal Fast Charge Mod, exclusively. My unified thermal mod provides a workaround for this by taking the best from both of the above mentioned mods and combining their changes into one file, packaged into a Magisk module/TWRP flashable zip, so that one can take the advantage of both, increased performance due to an increase in thermal throttling temperature limits as well as a faster fast charge.

Important Read-Me Points
Installation/Uninstallation
In case you wish to install the modified libraries directly in the system partition and not as a Magisk module, then add "sysover" (without the quotes) to the zip name and flash it via TWRP.
The zip will abort the installation if you try to flash it on any other device except the Nexus 6P and if you aren't running Android Marshmallow, Nougat, Oreo, Pie or Q.
The zip auto-detects your Android version and installs the correct modified thermal configuration file automatically.
To uninstall the mod, just reflash the zip via TWRP and it will undo any changes it did (whether installed as a Magisk module or directly in the system partition).
General
The mod only works with the stock OEM charger. If you're using a third party charger (irrespective of the fact whether it supports Qualcomm QuickCharge or any other fast charge capability) this mod won't work.
The lower your battery percentage is, the faster your phone will charge, i.e. as the battery charge percentage increases, the current drawn by the phone will decrease. This is stock behaviour.
The mod doesn't change the USB charge current. That is controlled by the kernel.
Regarding the thermal driver, it is preferred that you enable msm_thermal and disable core_control for effective results. However, if doing that causes issues for you (for example, cores don't come online automatically after going offline while using msm_thermal), then disable msm_thermal and enable core_control via a kernel tuning app, like EX Kernel Manager.
If possible, avoid playing games/use performance heavy apps while the phone is charging. Doing so won't cause any issues, but it is preferred not to do so while the phone is on charge.
Disclaimers
I am not the original developer of the base mods used, i.e. CTTMod and Xthermal Fast Charge Mod. I merely combined the two since they couldn't be used together. I take no credit for the original work. Please direct all your thanks and/or donations towards @Robshr and @ravinder0003, the original developers of the mods.

Also, you might want to consider a battery replacement if you plan on keeping your 6P for some time. I got it done from the Huawei Service Centre in my area, and the original one didn't cost a bomb at all. After the change, my SOT started averaging 4.5-5 hours (up from 2.5-3 hours).

Yep, like I said before, it's not expensive, so if you manage to get your hands on one, definitely go for a replacement. Hopefully, some are still available and not out of stock. Also, I'm not too keen on Pixels anymore, seeing how comparatively difficult it is for developers to get stuff working on it + they cost a bomb! That's why I went for OnePlus 5. Had Google stuck with the Nexus line-up, I would've never bought anything else to be honest, but well..

Android one is relatively new, so let's see where does it go. The new Mi A1 could be start of something great.

If while flashing the kernel, you selected the overclocked frequencies for your cores, then use the overclocked oreo variant of the mod. If you didn't make any changes in the frequency screen/aren't sure if you're overclocked or not, just use the normal oreo variant and you should be good.

Yes, that is expected, because the mod increases performance at the cost of heat, so temperatures will be slightly higher as compared to stock. It's been mentioned in the OP as well.
Also, no offence taken, at all. Feel free to use/not use the mod, whatever you feel comfortable with. Thanks for stopping by!

You can use a kernel manager app like EXKM or Kernel Adiutor to check that. If the maximum CPU frequencies for the little and big cluster are 1708 MHz and 2054 MHz, respectively, then you're running an overclocked kernel. However, if they are 1555 MHz and 1958 MHz, respectively, then you're running a non-overclocked/stock frequency kernel.
I know asking for ETA isn't allowed but could you do a fast charge only version for Oreo? I really dislike the thermal mod but would love to have the fast charge one

A case of being overwhelmed by choice (ROMs, Kernels, and more)

Hi guys,
I'm a new Poco user. I've checked out the forums and saw lots of ROMs, Kernels and even Recovery software. I'm a bit overwhelmed for the first time as I'm liking stock MIUI 10 for now. Can someone enlighten me on which ROM has the most features, what ROM is the most stable, which kernels go best with which?
Stability: BaikalOS, Pixel Experience
Powersave: BaikalOS
Customizability / Extra Features: Resurrection Remix, crDroid, Havoc-OS / POSP
Performance: Nitrogen OS, crDroid
Pixel Like: Havoc-OS, Pixel Experience
These are the ones I know but haven't tested all of them. Tell me if I'm missing any.

It doesn't have the app cloning and battery life is a lot better if you manage the background apps strictly but you still have to install it and test it yourself.

There is no best rom or best kernel, it all comes down to personal preference...
Lineage Pie with Franco kernel.
..and go with pixel experience only if u r into very stock version which I think is overrated given its customization limitations.
I have always hated chinese ROMs or apps, take MIUI for example they have like hundreds of apps injected into core system (miui security, miui contacts, miui dialer, miui messaging, miui this that and what not...)

Hi fellow Flip! Yeah I went with Ambasidii rom based on stock MIUI since I need the cloned app feature for ROM (Slave priest). It's rooted and has derp kernel. Battery life is quite a lot better. I was redownloading all my apps overnight and it only drained about 7% of battery life which is 1% more than full stock on idle without WiFi.
By the way, do you do a battery recalibration once you switch roms? Standby time is fantastic on mine but it seems to drain a little harder while playing ROM compared to stock.

There's no need to recalibrated when switching roms. Recommended calibrating your battery ( each month or every three months )
android phones this days use lithium-ion (Li-ion) or lithium-polymer (Li-po) batteries for Poco F1 . This batteries don’t need to be fully discharged, and come with smart chips that make calibration unnecessary and that's the good thing for us.
Just want to share this method , i do this all the time after switching custom roms.
First, drain your phone’s battery completely. Don’t charge it at any point while it’s draining. Let the phone keep working till it shuts itself off. Once the phone has shut itself off, restart it so it shuts off again. Even though the battery was at 0 percent, it has a few reserves left. Now, while the phone is off, charge it to 100 percent. It’s safe to use quick chargers for this, but make sure you hit 100 percent. Once it’s fully charged, unplug it and boot your phone. Android might not say it’s at 100 percent, and that’s okay. In that case, plug the charger again and let it get to 100 percent. then unplug it. This cycle of full drain and recharging lets the chip calibrate its readings with the battery’s charge cycle.
hope that helps:good:

Do you know if Lineage OS has the signal issue fixed on it? I only really moved away from it because of that. Im on crDroid and my signal is much better now

What signal issue exactly? I'm trying Lineage at the moment and using Derp Kernel.

ROM for battery life and where is the debloated MIUI rom?

Hello,
I'm looking for a rom and a good kernel that is very good on battery life. Also I want to try out the debloated MIUI. Where can I find it?
And is it true that the MIUI rom is the best for battery life?
try Xiaomi Eu rom ,with notification mod and restricted every app that you don't need so much. you might wanna clean rom more ,use lucky patcher and cleaned the rom. i did it my self.. trust me much better..
I am myself testing with Pixel Experience and the LKT magisk module. so far 2h of screen on time with only 20% battery drain, so i'd expect 8 to 10 hours of SoT just like that.
I've also heard malakas kernel has superceded Sphynx/FrancoKernel as the most battery friendly kernel you can install, but i have not tested that.
In the past, xiaomi.eu has given me better battery life than lineage/phh-treble in previous devices ( Mi MAX 3 ) so maybe combining xiaomi.eu + malakas kernel + lkt and maybe disabling half of your cores would give you a lot more SoT. I'll definitely post my findings in a few weeks on the SoT thread after i compare my current setup vs what i've just proposed.

I will try that, thanks. Is it better than stock MIUI?

I definitely want to read that post. Maybe I will try that later. Seems like this kernel is the best in terms of battery life now, is it?

zero ads in apps, advanced reboot menu, dark mode , zero miui bloatware yeah far better..
so what i did is i removed every useless app that I don't use, i removed stock file manager, music, video player, removed stock YouTube,i added solid explore, pwramp,mx video player in system and via browser and vanced YouTube ...black themed ..

At 299 euros, it's cheaper than getting, let's say, the BQ Aquaris X2 or the Zenfone Max Pro M2 for some unholy reason. and as a glorified Discord machine and music player... 2 high perf cores and 2 low perf cores are more than enough. and i get a battery boost on top of that!

i let them run in lower frequency,i get good backup, but only problem with miui rom is it take long time to go deep sleep

There is this app called Naptime from the author of Franco Kernel that forces doze no matter what as soon as your screen goes off. so that should also help with miui rom sleep delays.
as for running themn on a lower frequency, i've found that chrome loves crash (locking the whole system up with it) if i make them go slow enough, so disabling half the cores at the stock speed seems to be doing the trick for me. Maybe both can be done within reason for some extra gains though
i think you should use revo os or miuipro. And uninstall apps magisk module terminal debloater or es file explorer.I am used pocof1 basic debloat.xml import terminal debloater and after other apps opened system apps and priv apps es file explorer andddddd delete folders

Considering deep sleep, would it be beneficial to go with NOS and Malakas kernel for even better battery? I mean there should be less bloatware and deep sleep could be less of a problem.
