Charging cable 'falls out' and microphone issue - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hi all
had my mate 10 pro since it came out in the UK back in October last year and the last few months or so I've been finding the charging cable doesn't seem to want to stay in like it used to- or it falls out at the slightest of touches
this is with the original cable, and brand new aftermarket cables- also tried with the headphones- brand new never used and it does the same
my other issue is that sometimes the microphone doesnt work so I answer the phone and I cant be heard at the other end- a restart solves this for a while
anyone else had these problems? is there an easy fix or is it worth sending it back under warranty?

[Q] Problem with charger port

Woot gTabber here. No problems with my device; rooted, running Vegan 5.1.1, and working like a charm...until now.
I've noticed a problem when connecting the charger. When plugging it in, the gTab won't charge. The indicator light does not come on, although the green light on the charger is on. I wiggled and adjusted the jack until it connected and that worked for a few days. Now all the wiggling in the world won't make it connect. I tested my tab with a friend's charger and it didn't work either. It seems like there is a problem with the port and not the charger.
So. What are my options here? Is this something that can be repaired?
If it was a recent purchase, see if you can get it RMA'd for a replacement unit.
I had the same thing happen to my G Tab. Received an RMA and sent to Support. Received a call from Viewsonic that it was abused!! Haven't dropped, bumped or anything else. Using it with it plugged in is just begging for that dude to break inside.
I'll advise on what Support ultimately does if anything.
Edit 6/17/11: Received unit back from support. They repaired the port under warranty after about three calls accusing me of abuse. After the repir it seems to sit in tighter than before. You should be warned that support put the 4349 ROM and 1.2 bootloader on the device and cleared everything including the sdcard. I had to nvflash back to 3588 to get it reloaded with VegaN Ginger Edition and the 1.1 bootloader.
My 2nd Gtab is the 1.2 with 4349, I have had it about 3 weeks DO NOT like stock rom so I flashed it to flashback, then went to charge it as I ran the battery down, and I have the same problem! No light, no charge, sounds like it will be a fight with Viewsonic repair. It appears that the port has been pushed in. Has anyone out there tried to do their own repair? I have to flash it back to stock if I want them to repair it, can't do that unless I can charge it. Had software problems on my 1.1 and it took forever to get it back. I would rather try the fix on my own or pay for a fix in town.
Other than that I love both my Gtabs, the Flashback rom looks good but I have not had a lot of time to play
Once again thank you to all, any and all responses are welcomed
Jaye
If you're down to do a bit of soldering, pop the tablet open and make sure the power connections are properly tacked on.
tried no luck
just sent back to woot for refund
it appears that it ad been opened before suspecting they sent a refurbished. The power port was totally off the board pads. Tried to resoder must not have been a good connection. It sounds as if GTAB has a problem with this, or is it just our 2?
Think of another tablet any suggestions being as woot id giving me a refund
Let me know thx Jaye
I had the exact same issue and instead of trying to repair the plugin I ordered a dock which charges the G-tab through the HDMI port. Kills several birds with one stone.
The same problem with me. CosmicVagabond, thanks for the good idea, will do it.
Can you give me the link you bought it from? By how much did you buy it?
I have that issue as well. But wiggling the cable until I get a light generally works. I even bought another charger for it and it does the exact same thing so it's the port on the tablet and not the charger. But hey what's a little wiggling to get what you want?! And no, I've never dropped this tablet.

Defective mico-USB connector

Guys, I'm convinced the usb connector on my 9 month old TP is defective and gets worse each time I use it. I had bought a touchstone charger to ease the connector wear but still, I was eventually having problems with USB data connectivity using store bought cables. I even sent my TP in to fix the connector and when I got it back, still no USB connectivity. Just a completely wiped TP. So HP sent me one of their "genuine" silver dot cables and low and behold it worked fine. (My original cable was lost)
Now, months later, I'm having problems with the USB data connection again. I either get the "Not enough current message" in WebOS or no MTP USB symbol in CM9. Sometimes the PC will chime positively but with an error message (can't detect device). I received another genuine HP cable and it behaves the same as the other one. Inserting them normally, they appear to be in tight, the PC will chime but Windows will say that there's a problem, can't detect device. The only way to get it to work is to insert the microusb side at a 45 degree angle tilted downward and hold it in for 5 seconds, then (ever so slowly) release the pressure to the connector. 50% of the time I'll get a Windows message that says the USB is degraded and run slower than normal (which I think means it thinks its in USB1.1 slow xfer mode) and 50% it works fine at USB 2.0 (until I pull the cable out of the connector). I also have 2 store bought cables that won't ever successfully connect to USB with the TP but work fine with my Samsung cell in both charging and xferring music over to the phone.
So what I'm getting at here is that no standard microusb cable is the same and that there must be something special about the HP genuine one. Do these cables have a resistor on pin 4 ID tied to GND pin 5? Even so, I think what is wearing the most is pins 1 & 2 and maybe 3 (VCC and the data pins) which is why it may only work by concentrating on seating those pins first. Does it make sense that the 'can't detect device' message comes up with just the data lines and ground connected but no VCC? For that matter, why would the battery symbol in CM9 always show the lightning bolt assuming pin 1 VCC is not connected?
I'd appreciate any responses from other members here since I believe without USB the TP could be bricked in case some boot code gets corrupt and you are forced into WebOS recovery mode. This has never happened to me yet and I've installed a lot of nightlies but it COULD happen, no guarantees. What is inevitable is my connector will eventually wear out and my TP will only live until the bootloader DOES get corrupt, hopefully later than sooner. This could be the case with all TP's. Just imagine if in a couple of years everyone's TP's USB port goes bad. Sounds like the devs should figure out a way to fix a bricked TP wirelessly, if that's at all possible.
Thanks,
synchron
One of my Touchpad's had the same problem in Webos it said using wrong charger may not charge or something similar and with Android ie nightly the charging signal came up but it did not charge.
I spoke to HP and pointed out that I have 2 Tablets and that swapping leads or chargers made no difference all combinations worked on one but not the other.
They agreed to fix it and replaced the part. It is now working fine. And as with yours my computer failed to recognize the tablet properly.19 times out of 20 on the one time it did I was able to back up and remove Android before HP picked it up.
I would send it back under warranty or if that has expired state that it was preexisting. Otherwise as you said it is going to become pretty much unusable.
Don't let them fob you off.
Good luck

if u bought it during the fire sale u have about a week till (8/20) the one year warranty expires.
http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb/na/touchpad/touchpad/wifi/supportservices/page_en.html
go to palm support and CHAT with them. do not call cuz that cost money.
once u get an RMA they will send a box and take care of Shipping.
then go here to wipe and remove android
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426244
once wiped send it in and your speaker will be fixed, it will take about a week.

Thanx for your prompt responses. I bought my TP at the 2nd fire sale through BB in early Nov so I still got a few more months but I would rather wait a bit more since they did nothing the 1st time around. I think the connector is on some daughter board along with the vibrate device which is soldered to the main board. Doesn't sound like a big deal to repair it. Still, what makes the HP cable different then the others? Are there known cables I can get online that might be made better to always work and make better contact than the HP ones?

Thanks for your advice. Did they fix everything that was intended? Was turn around time no longer than 2 weeks for each repair? When was your last repair (busted speaker) done? Is your serial number the same or did you ever get a replacement (meaning a refurbished one) back?
Thanks

i keep track of the serials and they always came back the same. i have more than one pad and i asked for one to be replaced completely. we will see if that happens. but they fix only what u ask for and nothing else.
it can take longer depending on Weekends. takes 2 days to get your box, then 2 days to get it to HP, then 3- 4 days to get your fixed unit. its all done thru UPS, cant send it out on the weekends or receive it

Thanks, you are giving me hope to try again while my warranty is still good. Maybe I'll put a big note on the screen PLEASE REPLACE USB CONNECTOR - wouldn't hurt.

Hi all. I know this thread is really old, but I'm finding myself dealing with similar issues. And I'm obviously out of warranty. I can't get windows, linux, or Toolbox to pick up the USB. I'm actually in a worse case scenario mention here and am stuck in meboot, TWRP, and WebOS recovery, because I had wiped the rom. It must be an issue with the USB port, I've lost track of my original Hp touchpad OEM cable, and have tried every USB cable I can find. Any help would be appreciated.

[Q] SGS3 Won't Charge!

I know you guys have probably seen a thread like this a million times, but I know exactly what the problem is, but I have no idea as to how to fix it. The problem is in the phone's charging port itself, I need to get this repaired as after noticing that using the Galaxy Charging Current app, depending on the position of the USB cable, a different current is being supplied (all USB cables & Chargers wiggle around, they used to be held in solidly). Of course I have tried tens of other ways to find out what the problem is, and I know it's this for sure.
I'm based in the UK and I didn't buy the phone from a normal shop such as car phone warehouse, so does anyone know where I can get my phone fixed?
Thanks in advance!:good:

Not sure where to get it fixed but have you thought of buying a spare battery and charger? I have a separate battery and charger and hardly ever charge my phone directly with the charger. When one battery runs down I swapp them over done no waiting for my phone to charge

[Q] Xperia Z2 charging port problem?

Hi there, I'm new to XDA! *waves*
Recently, my Z2 has developed a annoying fault with the charging port, whereby it only charges if the micro-usb charger is pushed in at an angle with considerable force. Putting the charger in any other way results in the phone simply not charging (no red charging light, etc.)
I did a couple of searches but as of yet have not found anyone else having this specific problem. (if it helps, I've gone through a couple of charging cables - none work well)
Thoughts/help/advice?
cheers in advance!

hmm, if the device came like this your entitled to a free repair or replacement from sony mobile, try contacting one of their repair centres, if the device has developed this issue by its self recently then contact sony repair centre
you may have to pay if it isnt covered by warrenty

I'm still within warranty so that should be fine thanks . Just wondering if anyone else has this problem, and if so, is there a fix that doesn't involve replacing the phone?

Charging problems

Hi
Just received my P9000 and updated to the new OTA 20160419 right away.
My problem is that I can only charge the phone once, then I have to do a power off to be able to recharge it.
I have tried with both standard USB charger, a "real" USB-C charger and QI. The results are the same.
When the phone is power-off the charging works as expected, so the hardware seems OK.
Anyone else seen anything like this or am I just the lucky owner of a defect phone?
Regards
Jakob
Sounds like a defective unit to me. Perhaps try first with another USB-C cable (see other thread on the dodgy cable Elephone ship the phone with) before sending phone back.
I would advice the same. Seems like a faulty device. First try using a different charging cable, I am pretty convinced that should help.
If not, its a hardware related problem I guess
I have tried with both other cables and with 2 different QI chargers. Same result. I have send a question to the reseller.
I updated my phone ....(elephone p9000lite ) few days ago and that was the point charging problem wosen .....24hours of charging only to give 35 %...plz help
Same problem phone had updates now phone won't charge unless turned right off can any one help
