Right heres my first post, i have a very stange problem with my Galaxy s2
I plug in my charger (brand new one by the way) and it says its charging, but the battery indicator while the phone is on it doesnt move ( i have the percentage enabled and it stays at 3/4%)
so il switch my phone off over night, and charge it then. It then says while its switched off that is it charged to 100%, il switch it on, with charger connected and it will still say 100%, but as soon as i disconnect my charger the phone says 0% and switches off and will not switch on again.
iv tried another battery, an official one and an anker one with the same results. What do i do now?
by the way the phone has never had water damage, its not rooted and its not cfw.
its on android 4.0.4
Problem with USB/charging circuitry (which is relatively common; we see it on here all the time). Needs to be replaced. Service centre.

that the charging port thing? if so its been replaced 3times so far
Not the USB flex/port, the actual board that holds the USB circuitry that the flex cable connects to. And if that's already been replaced & the problem is happening in spite of same, replace motherboard.

urgh thanks
Given everything you've mentioned & tried, I'm not seeing how it could possibly be a firm/software issue. So it definitely sounds hardware.

if it is hardware and it is the charging circuit board, how come its saying its 100% charged then 0% immediately when i take the charger out? i agree that its hardware i just dont want it to be expensive!
Probably a short or something. As to how expensive it will be to fix it, if it's under warranty you shouldn't pay anything. If it's not, that will depend on how much authorised repairers charge for labour in your country. You could always try local mobile repair shops if it's not under warranty/authorised repairers want to charge you an arm & leg to have it repaired.
I know you guys have probably seen a thread like this a million times, but I know exactly what the problem is, but I have no idea as to how to fix it. The problem is in the phone's charging port itself, I need to get this repaired as after noticing that using the Galaxy Charging Current app, depending on the position of the USB cable, a different current is being supplied (all USB cables & Chargers wiggle around, they used to be held in solidly). Of course I have tried tens of other ways to find out what the problem is, and I know it's this for sure.
I'm based in the UK and I didn't buy the phone from a normal shop such as car phone warehouse, so does anyone know where I can get my phone fixed?
Thanks in advance!:good:

Not sure where to get it fixed but have you thought of buying a spare battery and charger? I have a separate battery and charger and hardly ever charge my phone directly with the charger. When one battery runs down I swapp them over done no waiting for my phone to charge
I have found the Xperia Z2 to be an extremely slippery phone and it dropped to the floor quite a few times already, but the last fall seems to have finally damaged it. Now, when I connect it through USB to either a PC or power outlet, it will no longer charge. I can exchange data with my PC, view the external storage etc. just fine, but the charging icon will keep appearing and disappearing irregularly, about once per second. Meanwhile the battery gets drained instead of charged.
I now charge my phone through the magnetic port one the side of the phone, which is working fine. I would like, however, to know if there is a way to repair the USB port of my phone.
Many thanks

Seems like hard to repair. You would need to disassemble the whole device. I'd suggest you send the phone for warranty repair. Just do not mention you let it fall

The whole glass back panel was into pieces. I replaced it, so I'm afraid that is not an option

Look into the Z2 disassembling videos, but I guess you should bring the device into a professional phones repair service.
@MrTheMan I think I know what bricked your USB port. The damage wasn't from the fall, you just connected the Magnetic charging cable upside down... Didn't you?
If you keep tightly in some points, dies it charge then? If not and still charges intermediate then there are two things. Either one of the lines if the port is damaged or the battery is of center. Remove and reconnect. First clean it's contacts with.a brush and pure alcohol. Do the same on the port.
Mine does the opposite, USB is fine(as long as I disconnect at 100% and don't charge with MHL adapter) but magnetic has the issue.

Hi,
I did connect my magnetic charging cable upside down. And my magnetic port is messed up now. It keeps charging and discharging when connected. It doesn't charge from a USB port and i need to plug in the adapter to a wall outlet for it to charge.
Is there anything i can do to fix this?

Oh, I see. That will cost a lot of money to repair it.

I'm sorry for your loss. It would be extremely hard to repair that by yourself. If you're out of warranty there is nothing you can do about it.

If I remember correctly there is one diode on the PCB that get's damaged :/
I have the same problem, due to magnetic charger..
Surely this is covered by warranty? I'm still under warranty so I will try to get a replacement.
How could they design it so poorly that it can be damaged like this....

Oh, I search some info. The diode just allow electric current pass one direction only. No wonder my XZ2 keep restart after I pressed shutdown because the diode allow the electric current from battery can pass through in opppsite way.
I don't believe it is a hardware problem. You dropped the phone but the USB port is not likely to be physically damaged by a knock. I had the same problem, on a Z2 provided by my company. I have requested a change, got a new one and in a few days the second handset had the same issue too. Two phones, both new, both never dropped, used with maximum care, both with the same problem. The second one wasn't even charged more than a couple of times before failure. And I had tried it as soon as I had it in my hands, just to be sure it worked, and it did, at first. I connected it to a laptop thru USB port (3.0) and it charged. Then updated apps and system to Lollipop, connected it again and it failed. In a couple of days. I'm sure nothing physical happened, unless my USB port fried it. Notice however, that data connection is working perfectly and everything else I connecrt to that port works as well.
I have some mag chargers too, and I don't believe I've ever connected them upside down. The plug is made in such a way the it does not connect if reversed, having one contact circular shape and the other elliptical.
I checked on the Web and there is a number of Z2 owners complaining for the same issue: there's even a video on Youtube showing this exact behavior. Sony seems to ignore it.
I must admit, however, that I'm unable to explain why a factory reset does not solve the problem. Now I'm trying to flash a stock ROM (mine is branded Telecom Italia) and see what happens.

Did you repaired your device. Please relpy this
Phone 2 years.
1. Charged through the USB port on the network 220 (native charger):
It reaches 81-83% of charge and starts to go crazy: flashing red LED charging and says that is / is not going to charge.
In fact, no charges.
I tried different cords and chargers - so everywhere is going crazy with a 80% interest
2. Charged via USB from the cigarette lighter in your car or the external battery:
It's okay - safely charged up to 100%
3. Charged through the magnetic cable:
It's okay - safely charged up to 100%
These are symptoms of what is dying?
Thank you!
I've had this problem since I got the phone. The micro USB port is looks. No matter what cord I use it wiggles. I contacted Verizon and Samsung after I bought the phone and they would only send me a refurbished one/repair it. They didn't understand that when you spend $700 for something and it has a problem that the item should just be replaced. Anyone else's loose? Easy way to fix it?
Anyone?

Its a hardware issue and repairing a sealed phone is little difficult. So my personal opinion take it to samsung shop/dealer or contact ur provider. Thats easiest and will be far less risky.
I remember this issue whn i had s3, the whole phone needed to strip down to fix the connector.
Or try youtube but DIY i dont recommand.

My charging port is fake, sometimes it doesn't load and sometimes the PC doesn't recognize it until I connect it several times.
I want to buy a new connector, but an original one and a copy appear on Ali.
Something appears in the comments that you could have problems with the signal.
anyone know anything else about it?
Wouldn't it matter if I buy the copy?
Please go for original if possible, don't buy a copy, it will create more problems in the near future. Go to a service center to get it replaced.

You're right, better to be safe
Unfortunatelly I've same issues like Arielxander, my connector seems to become worse - my phone is already 4 years old.
I'd like to change the charging PCB.
Does anyone know where I can get a good spare in Europe (Austria)? What I have to take care for? Do all spares support fast charging?
Thanks in advance
I do have one of these fake but never used it. thanks for the info better throw it away.
