[HELP] Phone recognises touches but unresponsive (Works in safe mode) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Moto X Style not rooted
I have show touches on so I can see that the screen recognises the input but the phone won't correspond with what I'm telling it to do. Even when using a mouse via USB debugging.
Every time upon restart, it works properly for a minute or so, then the navbar & statusbar dissapear, screen fades to black and locks. When I press the power button, it shows the lock screen but won't let me press anything. Apart from the Power Off pop up when it appears. I also can still interact with the always on display.
If I boot it in safe mode, the issue doesn't occur and I can interact the screen indefinitely.
I've not installed any new apps recently but this just started happening about a day ago.
Any ideas of what's wrong/how to fix it?

[Q] Need help for my SGS3 (latest cyanogenmod on it)

Hello everyone,
I'm a newbie at rooting.
I have used CM for 3 months but for a week it got a little strange.
Scenario 1) When I push the power button to get to lock screen, the soft buttons' light turn on for a moment but no change happens on screen. I push power button again, the same result. No other respone from my mobile. If I push power button for 10 sec to reset, i see a little green or purple light beam from the bottom right. After a while, it disappears. And still no response. I remove the battery as a last resort and put it back, when I push the power button, it's the same. Little colorful light beams...
Scenario 2) A short time ago, while I was playing a game on it, the screen just turned off and I pushed the power button... as you guess, the story goes on the same way.
It's now off, I couldn't get to it in any way.
What can I do to solve and how?
You guess it's urgent.
Sorry for my poor English, thanks in advance.
Can you restart the phone in download mode, or recovery mode?
I just figured out something:
The phone turned on and I disabled developer settings. After this, when the screen is locked and off and I push the power button, I see nothing on the screen (maybe a little purple or green beam at the right bottom) but the soft buttons turn on. I slide right to unlock without seeing anything, I pass the lock screen and it's now open. (when I touch the screen, the soft buttons turn on again and again as it should be) I just scroll the main pages right and left, push the volume or main button, they work. (it beeps when the sound is max) after 30 - 40 seconds... yay! The screen is on! It's totally the same all the time. It needs time to turn on?
Is it a software problem or is my screen about to break down?
Thanks again!!
it's a software problem. You can either factory reset, run the trim command if you're running android 4.3, or change to a different ROM.

[Q] Black screen, touch-responsive, vibrates but does not display anything...

I'm having a really strange issue with my gear fit:
1. Screen is black
2. Screen responds to touch(!) - I unpair the device and pair it again, when i press the left(top) part of the screen (confirmation button) it stops vibrating...
3. I am able to turn it off and on but the screen is still black (Samsung logo does not appear)
4. Bluetooth works fine
5. Kies3 also recognizes the device
6. It happened randomly a few times - the screen turned on and was responsive to touch but when i try to do anything it freezes and goes black again. I noticed that I can even change the wallpaper and clock through the Gear Fit Manager. I thought that it could be just the screen issue but I've never dropped it and as I mentioned - it responds to touch.
This problem appeared out of nowhere - I've left the watch (turned off) for a month on my desk, the battery was at 40% today, tried to turn it on and...
Due to the screen failure I cannot put it in the download/recovery mode. Is there a way to do it with screen off?
I know it's stating the obvious but have you done a full reset on it? (Hold the button down, a good 8 seconds, until it forces it to reboot)

Click to collapse
Just my 2 cents,I had to hold it down more like 20 seconds, way more than seems logical.
From my Galaxy Note 2
Has there been an answer to this because I've been having the same issue with mine for about 4 months. As stated before, it turns on but screen stays blank but I know it's working because it vibrates after I turn it on. Mine is a international one.
possibly a screen defekt? was the same thing with my when i rip it apart

Help needed asap

Guys i was in my settings a few minutes ago and i came across a feature which enabled me to open up my notifications by just tapping the screen so i enabled it and went to the homescreen to test it! Upon tapping the screen the phone started maing a beeping noise and a blue line started scrolling continously downward on the screen! I cant turn the phone off ! I only seem to be able to reboot it which doesnt help! I needto power the phone off i assume and then maybe do a hard reset??? Advice needed please
anyone?
What setting did you access I don't believe anybody will be able to help if we don't know where you went and what you changed. The things you mention are very vague and don't really paint a picture of what is happening.
Also if you want to turn the phone off without using the on screen settings just hold onto the power button for about 10 seconds it should turn off, after that hold power, home button, and volume up to go into recovery to reset or what ever it is you please.
Also is it showing you an X and Y axis? If so then you just go into settings, developer settings, show screen updates and turn that off the grid should go away. I am not sure what your issue is but that seems like the most likely option.

Strange behavior after dropping the phone

I've just dropped my RN4 and the screen stopped to work (black screen with no backlight) but I could tell that the touch was working well as I've managed to pick up a call. I wanted to remove the SIM card from the tray so I turned the device off by pressing power button for approx. 15s. Then I wanted to back my data up and boot the device to transfer data to the PC however I was unable to - when I've tried to press the power button to turn it on, device vibrated once and is doing so repeatedly from then on (the cycle is: vibration - 10 s pause - vibration-.... you get it). After plugging it into PC it is discovered as unknown device only. Is it matter of broken screen only or some more serious problem?

Galaxy SII - I9100 freezes after start up

I have never used any modifications of software. Only used stock firmware.
My coffee was spilled a little on device. Cleaned it immediately.
Then I got a freeze after boot up. I could see the home screen, but touch screen not responding, "Menu" and "Return" lights continuously lit and not responding. The removal of battery or long press of ON/OFF button was the only method to turn off. But the battery % shown on screen was correct each time. If I called the device, it was offline.
I connected the phone to my computer and it was recognized by windows. I did not transfer any files to phone by odin, but I have Odin application.
I used 3 button combinations to wipe cache, then boot up, but no change.
Then I used 3 button combinations again to return to factory settings and wiping everything. Now I get a solid screen where I need to select language but the menu and return lights a on continuously, and the touch screen does not respond.
So far, I can see that my three hardware buttons, on/off, volume, home buttons are working. Phone also was returned to factory defaults. But the problems continue to be the same. They are: no touch screen reaction, continuously lit menu and return buttons, home (OK) switch not working after boot up.
I have started to think that there might be a hardware problem. I have downloaded the service manual, can solder things, even have a microscope if needed.
Can somebody guide me to check where is the problem please?
