So I tried the Techmatte Amfilm glass screen protector and unfortunately it didn't meet up to my preferences for a protector.
I got contacted to review the (I assume) PET film version of the protector.
I've had it on now for about 2 weeks (wanted to give it ample time).
When putting it on, I watched their install video. It made it extremely easy and simple to put on. The fit of it was pretty good BUT they could have extended it a little more on the top and bottom of the phone (side to side is perfect).
Protection wise, this will protect the main part of the screen but as mentioned above, the top bottom will be unprotected (not sure if they did this so it doesn't interfere with Gear VR or not). The film fits perfect with my Spigen Slim fit case (haven't tried with any other cases yet).
The only detractor I have is fingerprints and smudges are very visible. They're easy to wipe off but nothing to help stop/prevent it. Not a huge detractor IMO. Their adverts do show it to help prevent smudges and whatnot and since I can't compare against a competitor I can stipulate to how much better/worse this one does at that.
Also the film seems reddish hue to it(can bee seen when screen is off(not sure if that is some sort of UV layer or what but it is NOT visible when screen is on).
Overall I definitely give this protector a resounding pass if you need something to protect your screen and don't want to deal with glass.

Sorry if this has been posted, but this is too good not to share.
I'm one of those guys who purchased the 45 dollar whitedome tempered glass screen protector. It was great, however last week it got smashed when it fell and hit the corner of my desk.
There's no way I'm going to pay another 45 for a new one. I did some research and found that they simply use loca glue a standard tempered glass and a uv light. So I purchased loca glue for about 6 bucks and a tempered glass (I recommend one that is open on top. I got the 2 pack woitech one so I could have 2 shots lol. It doesn't matter which one you chose as long as it is similar). I still had my UV light from whitedome. So all I did was applied the glue (be careful, a quarter size should be enough) to the middle and applied the tempered glass. I left the boarder adhesive on the tempered glass but you may want to remove it. Then tape up the buttons, ports , camera (stuff is greasy and hard to get off if it seeps) and earpiece (I used painting tape) and then applied the tempered glass. It takes some playing to get all the bubbles out (same as whitedome). Once cured it is the exact same as whitedome... actually better... It's not as thick and has better curves.
I highly recommend this. Once again take your time, I put way too much and it leads to seeping and bubbles.
I might do it again with my backup tempered glass to have a perfect installation, if I do I can make a video.
If you haven't already, watch a youtube video on whitedome screen protector installation before attempting. Very similar installation. Only difference is you have a lifetime supply of loca instead of that tiny amount and you can do it as many times as you like.
Did you do this with a case friendly or full coverage screen protector? and do cases fit on it?
My current phone is a Nexus 6P and I have been using a Spigen case + an intelliArmor tempered glass screen protector. Both products are excellent and I have been thrilled with them (and the phone), but the battery is starting to go on me so I figured it was time for a replacement. After some research I settled on the XZP (G8142).
I was able to order the Spigen case for the XZP, but intelliArmor does not make a screen shield (that I can find), so I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Supershieldz before.
I looked at getting the Skinomi skin and just using the part for the screen along with the Spigen case, but I really prefer tempered glass.
Looking forward to my first Xperia phone!

The protector, phone, and case all came in. The Spigen case is top notch as expected, as is the phone itself.
The screen protector is also fantastic. I tried putting it on the recommended way (using the guide stickers), but I could never get the right alignment using this method. I ended up free-handing it and lining it up as best I could, and I think I got within a half millimeter or so of a perfect application (the bottom is perfect, the top speaker is slightly off but not enough to be annoying or obstruct the speaker). There were absolutely no air bubbles to smooth out, which surprised me.

Is the adhesive just on the edges of the Tempered Glass? Is there some oil-like residue between the screen and glass?
I purchased a very similar Tempered Glass protector to the Supershieldz version and found the adhesive is just on the edges, top/bottom/left and right but the entirety of the screen, where the border is not is free to flex and obviously, with the gap that exists without adhesion has an odd oil-like residue, which many users reported.
I have had my XZP for a week now and have not even used it because I want a proper Tempered Glass protector which has received good reviews, along with a folio/wallet/flip case which has a strong latch/magnet to protect the phone overall, along with waiting for a DRM/TA fix before I stop using the Z5P and move onto my XZP.

Mine has the glue on the edges but there's no oil or anything in the middle.
It looks very similar to the Supershieldz one, might even be a rebrand. It's under the brand name "Panzer Glass".
It works pretty much flawlessly.

The one I purchased is very similar also, but has the cut-out where you can see the Sony 'logo'. Reviews are poor for those, everyone has observed the same issues as myself. I have purchased several other Tempered Glass Protectors, still waiting for them to arrive, different styles and brands to see which is the best fit with the best coverage. I will report back.

I didn't actually notice if the adhesive was along the edges or the entire piece of glass, but it seemed like the whole piece had adhesive when I peeled off the protective plastic before applying.
I have been using the phone with the protector for about two weeks and here are my observations:
I have moved my thumbs with ample pressure across the face of the protector to see if the glass shifts or moves. It hasn't budged.
No oily residue or weird artifacts.
The fit is quite nice. Without a case, the edges would be noticeable, but with the Spigen case on you can hardly tell there is a screen protector.
In bright/direct sunlight or when you hold the phone in bright light just right you will see a grid of dots on the LCD screen - I don't know if this is because of the protector or the screen itself. It doesn't bother me as it is not noticeable the majority of the time.

Appreciate the feedback. I have just taken possession of a Muvit Tempered glass, it is clear without any borders but just the same as the rest. Everyone I have tried thus far has adhesive only on the edges, the larger portion of the screen is free to flex and move and due to that, requires a firmer press and in doing so, you hear a crisp packet like noise, a sort of crunching sound. Really annoying me now, but it is due to the curvature of the screen that we are seeing a lack of good quality glass protectors. For the Z5P I found P-Think on Amazon to be the best, yet to find any suitable candidates for the XZP.
I will order a double pack of Supershieldz soon.
we know the tempered glasses of this phone is complete and utter thrash. I've had 3 of them in about 3 months now.
So here's some logic I'm questioning based of a basic understanding of physics:
I buy, or used to buy tempered glass in theory that it absorbs the force that breaks or cracks the LCD of the phone. now with these "new??" protectors they are no longer full adhesive therefore not absorbing force because its not adequately "attached" to the screen to give it added strength. so basically these tempered glass are only to protect from scratches and dings and what-have-you which i can get with non-glass ones that are at least full adhesive, thinner, without the dot matrix or rainbow bull**** or cutting off millimeters of my screen with the boarder they have or the dust that can get underneath after two weeks.
the reason im bringing anything into question is that last night my phone flew out of my jacket pocket hitting concrete stairs and upon impact the glass protector flew completely off the phone. like seriously........im sick of this bull**** regarding TGSP with this phone.......why hasnt this been an issue with phones in the past? any reason why they cant be full adhesive? or have to have the black boarder? and still be full coverage?
There are a number of tgsp full coverage, full adhesive screens with variable prices. The major problem is that with curved (a.k.a 2.5D) displays there is a lip on these protectors. The lip for the most part are NOT case friendly. The most popular cases when flexed (buttons pressed), tend to lift that lip eventually raising/popping off the protector. If you want a tgsp you must marry it with a compatible case which will never press the tgsp's lip.
Initially I had a cheap transparent case and a Orzly tgsp which seemed perfectly fine for three weeks before dust appeared around the power and volume buttons. Subsequently I purchased a bumper case with rubber liner which does not flex when the buttons are pressed so does not press against the tgsp lip.
I replaced the first Orzly with the second one from a two pack and am now over four weeks (Oct 7th-Nov 13th and counting) with no dust or tgsp lift of any kind. When ever I feel I need a replacement tgsp I will likely buy one of the following full coverage, full adhesive tgsps. I use a bumper case as they best show off my dBrand skin which gets hidden even with clear cases.
Another approach is one I heard while watching a series of dropped tests of screen protectors. The video was nothing special but the reviewer said he just bought bulk cheap tgsp protectors from china (ebay) and changed them every month. With my Orly experience matched to a low flex case this actually may be a better choice than looking for that ultimate protector, especially when no matter what tgsp the Oleophobic Coating will eventually wear off.

100% of them are bad, even the full adhesive rounded edges bla bla
now i use it just with a case, no screen protector at all
the money i spend on TGSP i could buy a new screen for...

since i wrote this thread i have put in a few hours in research into tgsp for this phone and i landed on the same screen protector.........the OMYFILM carbon fiber. although i went a different route and bought the Spigen NeoFlex, its not a glass, figured ill give them a try since its been years since my last film type protector.

The Orzly was my first tempered glass protector on either a tablet or phone as I used film protection previously. I fell for that slippery glide feel due to the Oleophobic Coating which I've read wears off after a number on months. I'll likely stick with a tpsg only due to that coating. With that being said I've never really minded the film type protectors. So far I've not had a major accident involving a device and the screen so I'm mainly looking for limited display shock resistance and significant scratch protection without compromising the display's feel.

I contacted Whitestone Dome and was told they have no plans to create a protector for the OnePlus so I started searching for a LOCA kit and so far could not find one. I had already purchased a 2 pack protector from amazon and I love it. So I had the idea to take the extra LOCA from my Note 9 Whitestone Dome Kit and the extra protector and experiment.
Surprisingly other than a little extra glue, it worked perfect. I had the phone on a paper towel when doing the install to help soak up the extra so it would not get into the ports.
This is a true 100% coverage of your front glass. If you use a case with a lid such as the Poetic this will pop off if you hit the sides, this works completely with the cases that are sold by One Plus and do not have aggressive side or "lip" coverage over the edge or for those who run raw without any case:

If you have an aggressive case such as the Poetic or the Spigen Tough Armor the following screen protector will work. When used with these two cases it covers 100% of whats visibly left with the case installed, without the case it covers approx 99% of the screen (roughly .5mm gap around each edge):

My house is dusty so I cant seem to get a good pic without some settling but all the dust you see in the photo is on top of the screen, response is perfect and the finger print sensor works flawlessly.
The photo on the wood desk is with the 100% coverage protector for running case less or using the stock One Plus Cases.
The second photo is the 99% coverage with the Spigen Tough Armor.
i tried to use loca glue with my s9+ and a cheaper than whitestone dome tempered glass. it was a huge mess and got in all the buttons.
how did you apply it cleanly without making a huge mess?
