Any tips from you guys to solve this problem?
Also how can I prevent apps from using network data after locking the screen. In my case, toggling off background data is not working for stock apps.

[Q] Freeze Gtalk_async_conn

How do I completely freeze this service using T backup pro?
I freezed Gtalk 1.0.3 the app, but using Betterbatterystats reveal that gtalk_async_conn still resulting in partial wakelock timing
I have also noticed this.
Anyway we can stop it?
Still no solution? GTALK_ASYNC_CONN is my main Partial Wakelock in the Betterbatterystats (KH3 firmware) and heavy battery drainer with about 60 min of activity during 8 hours...
same problem with me...and no one on Google does not have a solution for this.
installed 'Better Battery Stats' to see what was keeping the phone up and it's "gtalk_async_conn". The thing is that I don't even use Google Talk. I tried to disable auto-login and freeze it with Titanium Backup without any luck. The only thing that worked was to disable 'Background data' but other apps like Market needs that option on.
Literally everyone appears to have this problem, i actually froze Talk in Titanium and have had no problems but is this Gtalk_async_conn related to this or what?
This problem persist more with google Maps 5.8, 5.9 version. I uninstalled the google maps and noticed that problem was solved, issue was not present anymore in wakelock of batterbatterystats. However it's not permanent solution.
same prob here. would be nice if s.o. has a solution
I also uninstalled Google Maps (rooted; used free edition of Titanium Backup) and it helped for a while -- got really minimal battery drain for several hours. But now the problem is back so I'm wondering if it might also be related to Market or Gmail.
I would say this is the answer.
ANSWER
And it would explain why everyone has it.
That post might explain what it is, but it's not very helpful at solving the issue.
I turned off notifications in Market (some versions don't have this setting; try Market 3.1.3). If it still doesn't help then I am going to try turning off Gmail sync.
Turn off all syncing (gmail, calander, etc), turn off background data and you may have it disappear, also don't use anything that uses google c2d push notifications.

I did the following:
- Uninstalled Google Maps (rooted; used free edition of Titanium Backup)
- Turned off notifications in Market (using Market 3.1.3)
- Turned off Google accounting syncing for everything except Gmail (background data / auto-sync still enabled)
Partial wakelocks for GTALK_ASYNC_CONN are now very low. Just a couple of seconds over 15+ hours of low use.
However I think I still have some battery drain (based on Battery Monitor Widget) so I am looking at other possibilities.

I am not trying to be a smartass but doesn't your battery monitor widget cause some battery drain?

Totally valid point. But I have also tried running it with Battery Monitor Widget turned off and I still see the same drain (by looking at the battery history graph).
Also while experimenting, I had a couple of hours where Battery Monitor Widget continuously reported -1mA battery discharge (while Battery Monitor Widget was running of course). The battery history graph was basically flat. So that tells me that I can still run Battery Monitor Widget and get minimal battery usage -- if everything else is working right.
In the Better Battery Stats thread, the developer says his target battery discharge is -2mA to -10mA (measured by Battery Monitor Widget). I know it's possible because I've gotten it before, but lately I'm somewhere around -70mA so that's what I've been working on.
Getting great battery life now with the Gtalk_async_conn issue seemingly gone. I still have Maps removed -- luckily I do not need it much these days. I also notice that Market likes to stay running in the background, where it uses some CPU time even with notifications disabled. Also, turning on Google Calendar auto-sync caused significant battery drain.
Quick summary:
- Uninstall/freeze Maps
- Kill Market if it's running in the background
- Turn off Google account syncing for everything except Gmail
- Turn off "Back up my data" under Privacy settings
I was at about 50% battery after 20 hours. I am running Cognition 1.5.1 with SpeedMod kernel.

It's good to know that these mods work, but they are pretty extreme for me, and I would assume many others. I actively use the functionality of Maps and other Google account syncing. I hope that someone can work out a way to minimize the usage without cutting off the functionality completely.
For what it's worth, I see a dramatically higher usage of the GTALK process when I am at work where some of the syncs are blocked on the office wifi. Out of the office on 3G or at home, the amount of time GTALK is active is significantly reduced.
Atrix here but same issue. I agree if turning off syncs is the way to go, I might as well buy a dumbphone
I agree it's annoying. But the battery life improvement is dramatic, even more so than I mentioned in my earlier post. I used to get <20 hours per charge. Now I get about 3 days. Hopefully these are just bugs in the apps that Google will fix in future versions.
Not sure what is causing it. I have turned off auto-sync, logged out of gtalk, and even turned off "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore" from Settings>Privacy.
I still notice 1-2 minutes of partial wakelocks.
Try killing Market if it is running.

[Q] Battery Drain Issue Google Services keeping phone awake please help.

Guys I need some major help. Google services is chewing up alot of battery power about 50 percent sometimes more. It says google contacts sync google callendar sync google framework and network location and I have turned all thse things off apart from the framework but thats not even set to start up so what am I doing wrong? I am using Galaxy S2 Cyanogen Mod stable
Use BetterbatteryStats to find out which wakelock are draining your battery.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/tune-your-androids-battery-life-with-betterbatterystats/
I have used battery stats and it is saying that the above post is draining the battery. What can I do?
Found the solution to my problem I had google services framework disabled in system tuner so it was causing the phone to stay awake. Thank you for your reply.

You froze it and your phone is working fine??? :-/

i tried freezein Google Framework Services and i didn't had acces to contacts and calendar.
i had to resync all of them. so FREEZING GFS is not the solution!
Network Location, background data, autosync disabled. no auto refreshing, updating software running.
the phone goes to sleep only when i kill GFS, and for some time, after that GFS restarts on its own!
other ideas?

I have a Galaxy S4 i9505 and the exact same problem. Google Contacts sync all of a sudden began not to be completed and run the whole day long, completely dranining battery... so far I have disabled it, but I like to have "real-time" changes on my Gmail Contacts applied on the phone. That's one of the main reasons I have an Android phone.

HTC one Sensor eating up Battery!!!

For those people out there who have battery related issues, this might be the final place you will be searching for..
As I was one of the zillion users who was facing the problem of the battery drain on my HTC one after the update to 4.4.2, I found out that for some of you who have ARHD 53 rom and stock kernel, The battery drain will be because of the sensors remaining active through out.
I have been facing this problem form quiet some time and searching here and there for the solution..But I couldnt find one after a lot of searching. I thought I will start my own research what exactly is the app or service that is keeping the sensors on all the time..
Here are the apps you will need for the process..
1. Wakelock Detector :- This is one of the most widely used app of all the time that help with situation like this..
2. Greenify(Pro Version) :- Another Awesome app that hibernates the application when the screen is off.. Make sure you have the pro version of the app because the free version wont allow you to hibernate the system apps.
3. Battery Monitor Widget :- This is a battery monitoring app. There are many out there but this is one of m favorite and who actually helped me to solve the problem.
You device should be rooted for this process..
Steps:-
1. First see if any app is waking up now and then when the screen is off using wakelock detector.
2. Greenify that app and see the changes.
3. If you find some its good or else try freezing that app(NON SYSTEM) through Titanium backup or any other app. See if that improves battery life.
4. Now for the system apps. There may be some apps which may be taking the juice out of your battery. Do this very carefully because you dont wanna delete any important app form the system either by greenify or by freezing it.
5. Simultaneously monitor the usage of the battery through battery monitor widget and See if there is anything that is using a lot of it..
6. Follow the above steps till you dont see any considerable app usage in the battery monitor widget app..
I am attaching a file showing the the sensor which is still eating up my battery..I had once all the sensors on no matter is the screen is on or off..

Massive Google Play Service and WhatsApp Drain

I'm facing a massive battery drain since yesterday because of Google Play Service and WhatsApp keep running in the background.
I tried to put Google Play Services to Doze Mode using Universal GMS Doze but didn't resolve it.
I noticed that both services are using 'accelerometer' and 'Significant Motion Detector' wakelock. See the screenshot.
Anyone knows how to fix this abomination?
Try restricting permission to those services

Do you use location-based phone unlocking or some relevant service? I believe only those things would use these features of the device that you specified. One quick way of reducing battery usage can be restricting permission of using those features to the services but then again, that would disable certain features. Also, try using Aggressive Doze in Greenify and add those system apps to it as if location access is granted to Google Play Services, it would certainly drain your battery even if your GPS is switched off.

Background apps

Hello everyone, there are a way to set an app in background without the continuous spawn of the pop up message that "there are apps that draining battery"? There are a way to disable this advice (battery drain)? Am I not free to drain my battery in freedom, without harrassments? First time in 10 years and dozens of android phones....
Try Greenify to disable the battery draining apps. You can use the apps when needed and when you don't it automatically dozes the apps (puts in sleep mode). You can find it in playstore.
