Hi,
I'm trying to understand the reasons my Droid Mini (running Lineage OS 13 with the January security update) won't properly connect to foreign networks with data connectivity.
For work I've been travelling to China a few times a year, and every time I come here data connection is an issue. My home network is T-Mobile; and if I flash my Droid Mini back to the last available stock (4.4.4-SU6-7) the data connection works fine. So it's not a HARDWARE or PROVIDER issue.
It was suggested that I capture radio logs using Matlog, so I did that and have attached here an export of me switching airplane mode OFF and acquiring network.
My baseband is currently MSM8960PRO_BP_23255.132.81.00R. It's one back from the latest, but the issue happens on any baseband I've tried...
I ALWAYS get a regular connection so calls and texts work fine, but never data.
If anyone could help me understand these logs and get some hints as to why I can never get a data connection, it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
R

Hi guys,
I am having a problem with my Xperia X10i running R2BA026 build number and I wanted to know if any of you found a solution for Wi-Fi problem
I live in low signal area for T-mobile network. I connect my phone to Wi-Fi and it connect fine and I can use internet no problem. When I lose my signal to T-mobile network my Wi-Fi drops and then it reconnects when I have no signal but when my signal comes back then it disconnects again.
I tried couple of things such as changing Wi-Fi sleep policy to never, also I changed my network mode to GSM only, and also I entered static IP address for my phone and also changed settings on my ADSL router to remember my Xperia's mac address.
Is there any other way to resolve this issue without going back to older firmware?
Yes - it's a bug in the 026 build.. hopefully will be fixed in a couple of weeks when 2.1 lands..
Thanks. I really hope it does. Its such a hard bug for users, I mean you can be in middle of chat session and it disconnects then you have to restart the application.
I hope that comes out when they told us it would.End of September is close.
Apart from that phone is pretty good.
I had absolutely *no* issues with the cellular network whatsoever until yesterday noon, that's when the problems started, all of a sudden.
I started experiencing disconnections from the 3G network intermittently, like every 5-10 seconds it would disconnect and reconnect, extremely unstable. I then put the phone in 2G mode, but I lost my EDGE data connection despite the APN's configured properly. I even called up the provider and had them deliver the APN settings to the phone, but to no avail. My data connection just didn't work, i.e. no 'E' symbol, nada,
Thinking it might be something to do with the ROM, I restored my 2.1 backup via xRecovery, but experienced the exact same issues. Extremely unstable 3G with it's intermittent disconnects etc and NO data connection when it 2G mode. In the 'About Phone' status, it just shows 'Unknown' as the mobile connection type and 'disconnected' in the connection state.
I even went ahead clean flashed the 2.1 .435 ftf via flashtool, but the same issues persist!
What do you think the problem could be? I triple checked with my operator and they say the data services are active on my number, no problem from their end.
Could it be a hardware issue? I unfortunately don't have another SIM I can test with - that said I greatly doubt it could be a hardware issue.
What do you think?
I'm on Wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3 v4.4
Could be a network issue. Do you have this problem at a different place. May be in a different cell. There's always issues initially after deployment of new 3g deployment.
There is rarely a problem with only the data part. As all the protocol stack are not changed or fiddled in these new rom.
So less chance of the rom.

Yeah probably a network issue due to the super important india-pakistan semi final.

I don't believe I was having this problem at first, but now when I leave a wi-fi connection at home or at work, and I try to use the data connection it doesn't work. The phone is not switching to the cell towers for some reason. I have to disable data, and sometimes wi-fi, and then re-enable data on the phone to get a connection. Or reboot
This is stock btw. Anyone else have this problem? AT&T support was no help
Edit> Just left my work network to test it out and it switched this time, so it doesn't happen every time. Which makes it more frustrating.
Mine was working just fine a couple hours ago, now I get absolutely no data. This is very frustrating.
I've recently flashed to Paranoid Android (CM11 base) and when not on Wi-Fi I only get intermittent internet access. (Phone calls and sms still work correctly).
I live in a 4G area, so sometimes the connection strength icon will show DC, H+ or nothing at all and just bars. Cycling the radio on and off works sometimes, and when it does connect it connects fairly steadily.
Phone model is D6503, and country is Australia. I created a backup of the stock ROM using TWRP that came with the phone, is there a way I can take the config files from there and flash them? Would that help with my issue or is this a known CM11 issue with the X2?
Thanks kindly!
I have the very same -or at least a VERY similar - problem, with stock firmware.
I'm running 17.1.1.A.0.402 (Germany/Telekom) and every once in a while, my internet just doesn't turn itself on, when leaving a WLAN, or when entering a "no internet" zone. It just won't start any data connection while phone/SMS services run fine. I have to manually turn it off and back on. Then it'll work fine, right away!
I already checked, there's no new system updates for me to install (even though Sony website says 17.1.2.A.0.314 is the newest, it's not available for my device. Neither OTA, nor Sony PC companion can find any update).
Hello everyone,
I'm a longtime lurker of XDA ever since I switched from my Palm Pre (RIP) to an HTC Evo 3D. I created an account finally to post this question and I'm hoping someone can help because I am at the end of my rope.
My Nexus 9 has a wifi issue that cripples my entire network. First, I'll give you the details of my configuration and the problems I'm running into:
Running an ASUS RT-AC66R on Centurylink DSL. I have tried both the 2.4 and 5GHz bands. I have tried multiple channels per band with no effect on the issues listed below. The 5GHz band is currently disabled.
Unless I am am running the factory image that came with the N9, my wifi connection will almost completely dry up across every device on the network when the N9 is connected. As far as I know, this only happens on my home network.
Restoring the N9 to factory settings - which I have now done twice since purchasing it on Nov 3 - eliminates this problem almost entirely until I install the OTA update. This problem happened with both the day one patch and persists in the recent update to 5.0.1.
If I am playing my PS4 or streaming Netflix (or anything that requires a connection), I notice the connection speed rapidly drops to somewhere in the range of 0-5 kb/s as soon as my N9 connects to the network. When I deactivate the N9's wifi, the connection returns to normal speed immediately.
I am still connected to the network when speeds are low, but data crawls. I am able to connect to the router's config page and can see that traffic caps out at about 5kb/s down and 60 kb/s up.
Here are some of the fixes I've attempted, which all failed to produce results:
resetting the router
resetting my modem
disconnecting all other devices
switching channels on the 2.4 and 5GHz bands manually
updating the firmware of the router
changing the network name
changing the network password
changing the network security type
I am typing this after having reset my N9 to factory settings for the second time to confirm that the issue lies within one of the firmware updates. Can someone please help a networking noob figure out how the connection of one device quickly (within 15 seconds) halts all traffic?
I should mention that the exact same issue was present on my N5 earlier this year (long before Lollipop arrived) but that it eventually worked itself out and stopped hijacking my network. Unfortunately without mobile data on my N9, it is essentially useless until I figure out the issue.
Thanks in advance for any help!
The first thing that came to mind is an ip conflict. Have you tried changing to a static ip on your nexus 9?
Edit: Also when your nexus 9 is connected check and make sure the ip address on your other devices jives w/ you router (you may need to make all devices static until you find the problem) I had the same router as you and i had a network switch that was throwing odd ip address to devices not even attached to it...
I updated to 5.0.1 again and didn't have any issues this time around. I went ahead and set a static IP anyways but I'll report back here if I have any issues. Thank you!
