Titanium Backup Multiple Profiles Help - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If this is the wrong subforum please direct me to the correct one. I need to find out how to get to the profiles stored by TB in order to edit a specific file for each profile. Exmaple I have 3 profiles for one app. In that app I need to edit a preference.xml file for each profile. Switching to each profile via TB and then editing the file does NOT work for this. Im guess I need to find where TB actually stores the profile when inactive and edit the files there. I did a lot of searching but couldn't get the right keywords to find an answer.

Want all your email/connection settings restored on hardreset?

I know it sounds like im trying to sell you something well fear not this is free ok so i know you can use sprite backup or pimbackup but this can all be done using any uc complient rom and since there are becomeing alot more roms i thought i would share the way i do it so that after a hard reset everything includeing push mail, connections and contacts with assigned ringtones are all there and your ready to go. In the zip files there are several files. the cingular file is for network connections if you already have cingular/att then you don't have to touch this. the next one is for push mail you open it up in word pad and put in the correct settings i use mail2web so if you have this then just put in your user name and password and your good to go. ok the pop mail, which i have gotten from sleuth255 (thanks to sleuth255) is the same as push mail however you must create a new guid and replace it with the one already in the characteristic type go to this link to get the guid http://www.guidgen.com/. ok last is the pim.vol inorder to copy this vol or anyother you need to change this reg HKLM\System\Platform\DataPath the default is "\" you can change it to anything you want but i changed it to "\My Documents" also you might have to restart sometimes i don't have to and other times i do. copy pim.vol to the root dir of the storage card and place vol1 restore.xml and vol2 restore.xml on the storage card and make sure the path in sdconfig.txt is correct as it might differ from mine. well thats it, if you have any questions just post

[Q] File permissions......permanent change?

I am trying to sync a rostering app between two devices using dropsync.
The .db files that need syncing are in the /data/data/com.blah.blah/databases directory. Using Root explorer I can change the permissions to give full rw permission to others. The two .db files will then upload to the dropsync server.
The problem is that whenever the app is opened and anything modified, the permissions change back to default and thus dropsync can't access the modified .db
Is there anyway to change this or am I wasting my time? what is the 'sticky' box option in RE?
I'm not sure precisely what "sticky" means, but it's not what you want--it doesn't involve persistence or "sticking".
You could try to make the files not owned by the app but set it so the group is the app. Make sure the group can read/write/execute, or whatever it needs. This way, the app can still use the file but won't be able to change its permissions.
Of course, it could see that it doesn't own the file and refuse to run. I'm not sure what sort of checks the program's authors implemented. This also won't work if the file is deleted and created anew--the new file would be owned by the app.
Yeah thanks for that,
I tried the ownership and group swap earlier, and am pretty sure the app re- writes the db.
Don't think is going to work.
cheers
Well its obvious that the app, when opened sets the permissions to the .db files so that they wont be usable by others. The way you describe the problem is more likely to be a file owner problem and not with the permissions. Try to set the app and the files to the same owner and see if that works. You could always make a script that would change the permissions/ownership of the file.
FYI,
The sticky bit is a special part of the permissions mask for a file or directory. When set on a directory, it tells the system to prevent anyone but a containing file's owner from deleting files in that directory. This is handy if you have a directory that's being used by multiple users on a system as scratch space as it prevents people from wiping out others' files.
For files....the behavior isn't defined.
Hope this helps,

[Q] Manually restoring SMS db without adb?

I have a rooted Nexus 5 and I'm trying to update the seen and read columns of the sms database, except doing so on my phone would probably take forever, so I was thinking of copying the database to a computer, making the changes, and then copying the database file back.
I'm wondering if I need to use adb to do this, or if a root explorer app would work. I found another post where it was suggested, but no one confirmed that it was safe (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47273467&postcount=32).
Any help would be appreciated!

Facer help! Where can i find synced watchfaces?

Hi
There is a watchface that i put in my favs and the creator has been asked to adjust the branding on it (probably someone complained). This update didnt affect the watch face for me somehow, now i am switching phones and the update is in effect on the new device.
When i sync the gear s3 back to the old device, still use the original watchface.
So my assumption is the watchface is stored on my phone (somewhere, somehow)
Does anyone know where to look? I downloaded ES File Explorer and tried going thru the app apk, and the app folder under android>data>com.jeremysteckling.face : not sure where to look in the apk cant find any *.face files and the folder (just says "empty").
Appreciate any help :fingers-crossed:
