hello,
my hdx 7inch "thor" I believe is stuck and bricked.
It was on an old firmware that was rootable with towelroot, and it was towelrooted with supersu installed. no safestrap, no custom rom, no twrp, no bootloader unlock. I was aware of the issue of this tablet so I never really mess with it. well until I handed this to my relative and she tried to do a factory reset in the settings to set up her own amazon account.
when I connect it to my laptop and tried adb I get either device offline or unathorized.
let me know if it's not unbrickable, so I will accept the loss.
thanks

Should be able to revive it via 1-click. But it will take some work.

Hi everyone,
I bought HDX 7 just 2 months ago. I was on 4.5.2 and last week i requested amazon to downgrade my device and they allowed me to downgrade to 3.2.8. Then I rooted it using Towelroot and used Safestrap bootloader to install Nexus 2.0.3 ( For Kindle Device). After completion of Installation of Nexus ROM (ZIP file) from safestrap, device restarted and just hanged on some NEXUS logo and could not start up. But after some manual force restarts the safestrap was replaced by normal Kindle bootloader and finally NEXUS 2.0.3 was able to load. But i could not use some Google apps therefore In order to install Gapps I tried to flash TWRP 2.3.3.0 with Flashify i bricked the device. The device just hangs on KINDLE FIRE logo and dont show any response to PC and cant be able to move in Fastboot mode or bootloader mode.
Is there any thing i could do at this moment or should i ask amazon for replacement?
Thanks !!!

Yeah, HDX is a finicky device. Looks like you may have skipped a few critical prerequisites (eg: NEXUS 2.0.3 not guaranteed to run w/Safestrap; TWRP is not compatible with 3.2.8) but that's water under the bridge. Flashing stock recovery is your first step IMHO but if you can't see your device via tether then you are pretty much hosed.
Should you seek a replacement Amazon will likely provide a refurbished unit given you are outside the 30-day return window. There have been reports of refurbished units coming with older firmware that that can be exploited (bootloader unlock) which will permit TWRP, Nexus and other ROMs to be installed. You'll need to do some reading to explore your options.

Ja, its true because of more excitation and some laziness i escaped some important things to know. Anyway learned something.
I just called amazon and the conversation was like this.
Me: My device hanged on Kindle fire logo. what shall i do?
Amazon: since when ?
Me: Yesterday
Amazon: is that device rooted?
Me: No
Amazon: But I can see that it was rooted using some apps. and you asked for downgrade 2 days ago.
Me: I tried but i was not able to do so, But i had this problem when i did factory reset. ( It was a lie )
Amazon: Ok. Did you drop the device or was it in water before you had this problem.
Me: No No
Amazon: Ok then it should be defect. so send it to us. Thanks
But I am not sure whether they will replace it.
Amazon (at least in the US) will likely make some type of accommodation to keep you happy; they are good that way. Keep us posted!

Ya, i just got a mail from amazon and it says that my new device will be in front of my door in 3 days. Actually amazon are willing to have a good relationship with their customers. Impressive...
Hi guys,
After a lot of problems I had with my Fire HD7 as explained here http://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/help/fire-hd7-stuck-boot-loop-t3283194 , I decided to flash the 5.2 bootloader via TWRP, so as to be able to update via sideload and get back to 4.5.3 to root and update later on, I completely bricked my device, such that it won't turn on anymore, but is recognised by my PC as MTxxx-Preloader, something like that at least.
After going round some threads on the Fire HD forums, I found a solution talking about the use of the fastboot cable.
But all the threads are about 2nd Gen Fires, where as mine is a 4th gen.
EDiT : I had it all wrong when I downloaded the wrong bootloader file, i.e : 5.2 recovery_uboot instead of 5.2_recovery_only
Could someone really help me out of this messy situation, cause I'm really angry at myself for the mess up i've made...
Thx for reading...

Sorry to say this is now unrecoverable. Amazon will replace if you're still under warranty.
Warranty, I don't think so, cause I ain't even the one who bought it, and after the root and all ..
Is a warranty restored if you have unrooted, or lost root access somehow?

The warranty period starts when the device was first registered. Amazon can tell you if it is over or when it will end. Your problem now is: "My tablet won't start." No need to describe all the gory details about how it got that way.
OK thx, will try
Would a factory cable help get into fast boot with the same kinda issue? my computer shows it as the same "preloader" device after trying to go back to 4.5.3 for xposed. I followed the directions like 7 times in a row but still got a brick, in over 5 years of flashing roms, rooting ect this is 1st device I have bricked.
No, the factory cable is useless with this model
I used the almighty wipe feature of safesortrap and now i have no zips on the device, no way to put them on it, i tried adb push, sideload, etc. i do have a fastboot cable, although when it is plugged in to the fastboot cable, it wont turn on at all. my computer recognizes it as an unknown
device in safestrap, troubleshooting doesnt work. I have the OS I need, I just need a way of getting it onto the device. Any help is greatly appreciated! c: NOTE: 3rd gen kindle fire hdx 7. Also, is it possible when it is unbricked to unlock the bootloader in this situation?
Depends on the Fire OS version you had installed. Only versions below x.3.2.4 are unlockable (i.e. 3.2.3.2 or lower). Note that you can NOT downgrade below 3.2.8 once 3.2.8 or higher have been installed! Attempt would brick the device, thanks to rollback protection by amazon.
Which Safestrap version do you have installed, and what did you wipe?

Don't be so quick, Safestrap v4 has a built-in System-wipe-protection, could've helped here.
Stay away from amazon's stock recovery! Using it with Safestrap installed will brick the device!
Try to get adb access, I think there's a thread somewhere here where a user was able to get access and to revive the HDX. May be the PDA drivers help regarding that. If not, try the original amazon drivers again.
Also try different USB cables, the HDX is surprisingly picky regarding cables. Fastboot cables won't work anyway btw.
You mean the PDANET drivers?
Nvm found it, trying this
I have adb access, i think it was the cable and im a noob, thank you for your time!
Kindle Fire THOR Black Screen wont connect to ADB
Okay so long long story short- my daughter has a kindle fire HD 7 inch version 3rd generation tablet. I did root it a while back and thought I had disabled the updates. However she accidentally so how allowed the updates and duringt the process it went black screen and wont boot or do anything at all. I have read countless forums and tried almost all the un-bricking tools out there as well as the commands in ADB. Currently what I have concluded is that the tools and typical un-bricking methods wont work since the tablet will not power on it wont connect to the computer in ADB mode and I have no idea if its in USB debugging mode at this time.
It will sorta power on (screen still blank- by holding the power button for 20 secs) and the computer "senses" it but at that point it will not be recognized by the PC, and give the error that the "USB device has malfunctioned". I have tried about everything out there- can you guys help me out to get the power back on at least where I can get the ADB to recognize the device? Thanks in advance.
Oh- I did purchase a fastboot cable as well but that did not help matters at all.....

You mentioned "THOR" in the title later expanding that to "HD 7". They are two distinctly different devices. For the purpose of this post I'll assume you are referincing a 3rd gen HDX 7 device (Thor). Unfortunately nothing can be done short of board replacement which is not cost effective given the current price point of pre-owned devices in good condition. As you probably read fastboot/factory cables are useless on HDX models which is the only way to communicate with an otherwise comatose device. Sorry for your daughter's loss. Poke around action sites like eBay; I have seen supposedly new 16GB HDX 7's going for $50-60 USD. If you daughter is younger a 5th gen 7" fire is a good alternative as it can be rooted and with several quality custom ROMs available you FireOS is not to you/her liking.
Thanks

Thank you very much for the info - I was suspecting that unfortunately.
Question
Apologies, to hasty in getting a question onto the forums
I'll try to get as straight tot he point as possible.
Been using my Mobile one touch pix 7 for a little over a year and always installed Ota updates. Well I rooted the tablet not too long ago, forgot which method I used, but was working fine.
an Ota update came through and totally forgot it was rooted, and tried to install it, at which point the whole tablet got bricked.
It ended up in recovery, and I selected due to failure, to format and wipe the data.
Anyhow, The unit will stay at the boot screen for a while then show command error and then show the recovery screen, my only options are:
reboot
update from sd card
update via adb
update via memory
reboot Bootloader
power off
Well I've tried updating by downloading system images via adb, they return a verification error.
I've tried using adb side load to try to install an Ota update file I found for it, returns a verification error.
I cannot get into download mode, fast boot mode I think does not work as windows reports 3 android devices, but the mobile update software cannot see anything, and fast boot gets stuck at waiting for devices.
I suspect the tablet is for lack of a better description totally bricked and just a paperweight.
I am at a loss of what to try from this point. I'm sure wiping the data after the failed update killed it completely but not sure.
Anyone have any guidance here? I've downloaded a few images from the web I found that say they are for this tablet model, but still getting verification error.
Is there any flashing software I can get that may be able to access the tablet or can I copy a file to the scared and have it try to run an update from there. I don't care if it is rooted or not, just want to get it usable again.
I can run Mac OS, windows 10, windows 7, windows xp, or even have no issue getting a linux version going, whatever will work best for this I can use it. windows 10 I was able to manually add the drivers but windows 7 is not letting me do it the same way. I can connect via adb sideload only, no other adb functions seem to work.
I'm not a total news when it comes to custom rooms, as I have done it with another tablet, and an android car radio, but those were pretty straight forward and bootable so never ran into a brick issue yet.
I have a feeling this is toast and I hope that is not the case.
If anyone here can help out, I would appreciate it.
Thanks again....
Need help here to. Been searching with no luck. Any my issue is.
Rooted kingroot, flashed twrp with flashify and now I'm stuck on twrp. Been searching for any custom stock rom. I forgot to unlock the bootloader but I did enable usb debugging (i didn't see any oem options).
Any k 28532Jonsunf of help would be greatly appreciated.
This sorta happen to me. I rooted pixi 7 with kingroot, and was able to delete a lot of bloatware. However, when I was using lucky patcher it pretty much messed up the play store. But it was fine. I could download stuff through the Internet. But sooner or later I needed to fix it. Tryed a lot of ways but it didn't help. So I factory reset the tabletand now im stuck at the Setup Wizard. It just won't let me let me through. I thought its was over, but then I get a message saying there is an update available. So I download it and installed it. But all I get at the end is error. So now I need to flash it with stock. I tried the img. too, but it doesnt show up in the recover menu. If you found a solution please tell me
Can anyoonneee help me find a good Custom Rom for the alcatel one touch pixi 7 (9006W)? Sucks that there's not much info for this device (probably cause the device sucks lol) I'm running on lollipop 5.0.2 and am not able to get OTA update due to rooting. Unrooting didn't help. It seems only answer is custom rom but don't want to risk bricking it as I don't have a computer at home. Also, I am new to this so if anyone can share some insight, I'd be eternally grateful
P.s
It's a t mobile device but I only use it on wifi.
Am using kingroot.
Have never installed a custom rom
****ing device is 8 gigs. 1 gig Ram.
Is it possible to get Nougat?
Help meeee lol
Hi, I just (fully?) bricked my Fire HD 7 4th gen.
I tried powerpoint45 Linux ISO unbrick system, but with no luck. Handshake script recognize device and run ok but when i try to run ./reader.sh it just stuck forever. I read, in that case my device is hard bricked without option to unbrick it. But I also read, there is something like "special" fastboot cable. Is there any chance to unbrick in my case?
I've no recovery and OS. Device don't react on button, I tried many combinations. The only sign of live is get Fire HD connect to computer and see in device manager there is "MT65xx Preloader"' device.
I've disasembled back cover if this helps.
Can you provide more details? What version of fire OS are you on and what exactly did you do that caused the device to brick? Without at least knowing that much people won't be able to help.
Ok, I'll start from the beginning. I originally had FireOS 5.3.1.1 and successfully downgrade my Fire HD to FireOS 4.5.3 so I can root device and flash recovery (this tutorial -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/how-to-downgrade-to-4-5-3-root-device-t3139351). Then i follow this tutorial to get Lollipop ROM and root -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/root-os-5-1-2-kingroot-tools-play-store-t3371824. There are steps to do when OS is less than 4.5.5 (me). Tutorial said "upgrade OS to 5.1.2". I had sideloaded file update-kindle-20.5.4.2_user_542168620.bin but then i accidentally reset system (tutorial said to do factory reset and then restart system). Thats my flow to brick Fire HD 7 4th
Did you ever find a solution to this?
