My phone seems to have issues with running and updating apps in the background. Stock apps like phone and messages work as they should and badges are displayed right away. All other apps have to be opened and closed in order for the icon badge to appear. I do get all notifications in the notification panel but no badges. Also some music streaming apps stop working when screen goes off unless I exit the app via "Back" button instead of "home"
Running latest Pie 965U1 on 965U Verizon phone
Build # G965U1UES3CSAA
All notification settings checked in multiple locations
Reboot and clearing cash doesn't help
Different power modes and disabling optimization don't help
Stock launcher
The last thing I can try is to reinstall a different region firmware?
Any advice is greatly appreciated

Hi, there
there is many devices and apps that require them to be running all the time to make them work for example smartbands, they have a notification saying connected, maybe one is fine, but i have 2 apps that require this and have to notification there all the time that I find annoying, is there any way to maybe have them running still but just hide the notifications?
If you're running Nougat, you can slide the notification to either side and open the settings for that app. There, press the encircled A and select the priority of the notification accordingly.
bump, can someone have a look
Badge app icons are not working on my phone for Facebook and Messenger app, for Gmail (probably some more apps but i can't think of them right now) and I don't have them in setting to enable this notification.
It is brand new phone, 10 days old. I have updated it right away on EMUI 5.1 / Android 7.0 / Build STF-L09C432B183 as the phone said it was the latest.
I have uninstalled apps, restarted phone and then installed them again, restarted again. Nothing
Factory reset. Nothing
Enabled everything i could find on notification settings, battery optimization, etc... Notning
I still don't have them in settings so i can enable them.
I get push notifications about mails, about messages, about likes on fb etc... but no badge notification.
I have attached screenshot.
Any help, ideas?
I have exactly the same problem. But ...
There are settings to turn this on. Hold the finger on the empty space of home screen then tap Settings in the lower right and then Badge app icons and then turn them on. However, these settings didn't fix my issue, I hope they solve yours. I have the exact same phone and firmware/software, does anybody know the solution?
Thanks!
I have the same problem. The apps that don't show an icon aren't on the list you mentioned and I've looked through all other settings in the settings app and in the apps themselves. But yesterday I got a notification that there was a new system update. And after I downloaded it I have had icon badges on Facebook Messenger. But still nothing on Snapchat or Gmail.
Working perfectly here. I'm on oreo.

Hello
I've looked through the settings many many times, and I can't figure out how to get notifications from apps (whatsapp plus, Bluemail, Textra) to appear on the sleep screen- the black screen that shows the clock and battery percentage. The stock messaging app will post an icon to that screen when a message arrives, but no other.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I have a bla-a09 US variant running version 119.
Only stock apps (message, email, call etc) appear on the Always Display Information screen. Other apps like WhatsApp, Facebook etc won't show there. This is how Huawei's software works.
Hey all, I have an issue with the notification settings being limited/not available for some apps. Both Yi Home and Mi Home are missing the option to configure notifications for certain categories and the MIUI settings claim that the apps haven't shown any notifications (see greyed out 'categories' in the first two attachments). If I take i.e. the BlueMail app (third attachment), I have all the default categories available (floating, lock screen, sound, vibration and LED).
What else is weird is that Mi Home does vibrate and activates the LED when a notification is shown, but Yi Home does not do anything, it only shows the notification in the status bar so I no longer get any alerts from my camera unless I unlock the phone and go look for it manually. This is a big problem for me and I would appreciate it if somebody could tell me how to fix this. I've looked through all the settings and tried everything I can think of but it just seems that MIUI doesn't detect the notifications for some reason.
I just checked the Yi Home app on my Honor 7 and there I do have more options, see attachment. So really not sure whether this is an app bug, OS bug or MIUI bug.
Is there really no one else here that uses either of these apps on the Pocophone to see if he/she has the same problem?
Hello,
in Oreo I could just tap hold the text and disable the notification, iirc. In Pie I just get the info that notifications from this app can't be disabled (System UI). I tried System UI Tuner as well but it didn't work as well.
Did anybody achieve this already?
@ChazzMatt
Could you please drop some knowledge?
I have Do Not Disturb activated at all times so I don't need to be informed about it.
I stayed on stock rooted Oreo, so have no day to day knowledge of LG Pie quirks. Sorry.
However, on a similar note, I reverted back to older version of some apps (My Data Manager being one) -- where newer versions insisted upon putting an icon up in the notification bar area when they are running. That particular app runs all the time and I have a widget on my pull down bar which tells me my monthly data total at any moment. I know it's running in the background, but I don't want to see an icon all the time up in the area where NOTIFICATIONS go. Keeps making me think I have new mail, a new text, something....
Up until about the time Pie came out, I could manually disable the notification bar "badge". With updated versions of the app I could not. So, I reverted to older version from APK Mirror on mine, my wife's, my mother's phones and UNchecked auto update on Google Play for that app.
There's other apps where I stay on older versions for functionality reasons.
Thank you for your insights!
Seems like I should have stayed on Oreo.
On another note I fiddled around with Automagic and was able to hide notifications for the system app System-UI altogether, but that also hides some other notifications I'd like to keep. But it shows that it should be possible. In SystemUI Tuner you can add custom tweaks if you know the right variables and values. Maybe someone knows where one can find the right values.
The solution that I'm using now is setting a custom sleep duration via System UI Tuner to 9999 and only having to worry every few months about it.
Does anybody know what's the maximum duration?
