Hi everyone.
Recently, I saw my phone's battery decrease considerably, and by going to the battery usage stats, I found out the following:
* Google Play Services used about 25% ;
* Android System used about 15 % ;
* Mi Service Framework used about 7 %.
These are really huge numbers, and happen every single time. These numbers keep roughly the same wether the battery level is 90% or 10%. Even after resetting fully my phone (official Global ROM with Pie, bootloader unlocked but stock recovery and no Magisk / etc.). While I got near to 10 hours of SoT before, I now barely get 6 hours, without playing any game - just browsing internet, reading books and listening to music with my headphones.
I uninstalled many applications, but nothing worked. Although I didn't test it more deeply, this behaviour doesn't seem to happen in custom ROMs.
Does anyone have an idea to solve this?
Thanks in advance for your help !
So, I tried to disable synchronization as well as using power save mode, but that doesn't change anything. Any idea?
Strange, did you try to clear data in play services? And maybe clear cache in android system?
Yes I did, I also performed a factory reset from recovery > wipe but it didn't solve the problem...

Install BBS(BetterBatteryStats) and take an idle dump (read the OP in BBS's XDA thread on how to do it) and post it in the BBS thread. Someone will respond.
I have the same problem. Clean installed miui 10 stable few days ago, formated everything, and still the same...

I'll try to install this app this evening and try if it gives some interesting stats.
Otherwise, I already read AndroidPit's article (as well as many others) and nothing worked for me.

Sorry to hear that. I don't have these issues, but you can try the EU ROM, I haven't tried myself, but I read from a lot of users that it's better than global. Or try the beta ROMs
@ClementNerma you managed to fix hight battery drain by Play Services and Android System? I barely get 5 hours of screen on time, and can't figure out what is wrong. BBS doesn't show anything specific in wakelocks...

Unfortunately, I couldn't
The only way I found to manage it is to fully disable any Internet connection (no 3G, no Wi-Fi), and then Google Play Services totally stops draining battery. But this is somewhat inconvenient...

Have you tried refusing all its permissions? Be aware this might break some apps until you re-enable them.

I'm rooted & on stock firmware ICS 4.0.3 XWLP7, I recently flashed JKays framework & deluxe settings for this firmware & I'm not really sure if that bares any significance to my problem! I'm experiencing quite high CPU usage (between 35%-45%! even if I kill all running processes/applications) over the last week or so & wondered if this is normal? I've also tried wiping battery stats & dalvik cache, & athough it helps a little, it only last for a small period of time, like an hour or so!? If someone could give me any clues as to why this may be happening I'd be greatfull!!

You should let your battery run down until it's almost dead and then show bbs stats.
Your phone is not sleeping properly because something is causing kernel wakelocks. You should Google those first 2 kernel wakelocks to try and find out what is causing them. The first one is related to apps and data usage. Use titanium backup to freeze rogue apps causing them.

From what I can gather (I might be wrong!) my problem seems to be related to data traffic, here: https://github.com/asksven/BetterBatteryStats-Knowledge-Base/wiki/svnet-dormancy
Does anyone know how to track down which app or service in particular may be be causing it?
TIA! ;
Based on your earlier post you will probably ignore this:
Are you switching your 2g/3g data OFF when not using the phone?
If you leave it on, loads of apps have the chance to check for updates/synchronise
turn off auto updates, syncing, wifi, 3g and anything else related to accessing the net for information

I don't think you can actually find which app it is without freezing all your user apps and trying one by one, which would be a pain. You could try reflashing clean and reinstalling all your apps clean. Could just freeze any apps you think might be the culprit and try one by one to narrow it down. Could also use Tasker or some other app to better control your data so you are not always connected. I leave my data off at all times and only turn it on when I am doing something that needs it.

Thanks, I thaught as much when I mentioned trying to narrow it down to a particular app! I've turned data transfer off when not using the phone now & I must say that it's made a significant difference, but I still don't fully understand why it started eating my battery/data all of a sudden like that, when I didn't change anything on the phone but install JKays framework & deluxe settings prior to this problem !
I like to receive my emails which is one reason for keeping data turned on, & I usually have it on GSM only unless I use the net without Wi Fi when I'm out & about!
I suppose I can only try different fixes & try & work out the best solution specific to my use of the phone huh!?
Flashed over to CM10 today. I had to flash the kernel manually through fastboot. This is not normal.
It was off the charger from a full 100% to 42% in only two hours?? I haven't been using my phone to watch videos or listen to media either. it was just casual texting. The brightness is dimmed as well with the screen sleeping at 5 sec. Any idea with a fix?

i generally start, to get a high level view and without adding any 3rd party apps, under settings and battery status. there is a decent graph and list of apps running on the phone. i'd start there and see what is going on.
generally, if you're on the same cm10 as everybody else and nobody else is experiencing the issue, then i'd be in inclined to lean towards a 3rd party app causing the issue.
as is normal with these types of bugs, it could be quick or it might take some time to narrow down the issue ... many variables involved. best approach, as suggested above is to start analyzing battery usage, which is closely tied to how often and long applications are running.
feel free to post up some details around your research and we can help provide feedback/suggestions.
hope that helps!
I have run into a few wakelocks with cm10 as well. Another thing you can try to do is analyze the alarms within terminal emulator. Launch terminal emulator > su > dumpsys alarm. Scroll to the bottom and see if anything jumps out at you in terms of holding a wakelock.

I used GSAM and it said I had a wakelock but never pointed to where..i rebooted the phone and let it charge over night.. if it happens again today i'll look further into it. I used the stock battery app and seen mediaserver was the main culprit but after doing some research it can be a numerous number of apps..so i looked at GSAM like suggested but it didn't specify. I'll update later with any definite results..im sure im not the only one with the issue.

Another app that I have found useful is "autostarts". It allows you to limit what apps startup at various times (i.e. startup, charging, etc.). I disabled a lot of autostarts for programs like "maps" and it seems to have prevented some of the battery drain that was occuring to me. Good luck.

I have CM10 M1 and mine has not been draining that fast, but seems to be going down quicker than usual. My phone was kind of warm today as well. Samsung specs of the phone state like 10 days of stand by time so it should be lasting a LOT longer.

You just have to find which apps are causing them and either play with the settings to try and prevent it or uninstall/freeze them. I get some pretty bad wakelocks on cmx also...I use BBS to monitor what's causing them.

Force close the apps but most of the time they do come back, freeze them in titanium, uninstall them, or if you can, adjust any settings that could affect wake lock I.e. maps, there's an option to allow it to randomly update your relative position to acquire faster lock, this can be turned off

No more wake locks. I guess 17 hours without a charge and still at 35 percent is a battery increase from touchwiz. I think heck yes!

Hey, I have a major battery drain issue on my GS4 on stock VRUAME7.
I had my screen on for about 33~ minutes, and you can see how bad my battery was draining compared to how it was in the morning.
I noticed that my phone was warm in my pocket all day, and I didn't know why. I did disable every Samsung feature I could such as Smart Stay, and my brightness is at the lowest it'll go. I'm in a great 4G reception area, and Wi-Fi is off. I also turned off location service crap in the Maps application.
Do you have any suggestions of what apps I can use to find the source of the battery drain? Or any tips on how to fix it? I didn't have this problem while running the Google edition ROM >.>
How do you figure your GPS is constantly on when the battery stats you've posted indicate the contrary? If you're talking about the reticle on the status bar, that is not GPS.

Well, the icon for it using GPS is always on, and after a reboot, it's still constantly on. Also, it explains why my phone was warm all day. Honestly, these battery logs aren't telling me enough. Honestly, according to these battery logs, I'd say my battery is dead if it can drain about 27% battery by mildly using the screen for 30 minutes.

Regardless, something's draining my battery and using battery stats pro or anything doesn't help me, they all just say it's the android system..
I have not updated but android system is number 1 on my list of battery usage as well. From what I've read it's due to Google location services. If you turn them all off it should go away..... Other things like Google now may not work well though.

Yeah, honestly, this is ridiculous, I have brightness on low, turned off every samsung feature, and turned off location reporting in Google maps, and my battery tanks from like 20+ hours a day with moderate use to barely 10 on light use.
I'm just going to factory reset, and hope that fixes the problem. I literally don't have the time to debug this. This would've been a lot easier if I was rooted :\
Disregard. You preemptively addressed everything I thought to check.

A tool that I use that is great and free from the Play store is GSam battery monitor. It can breakdown exactly what program is using to most resources. You should try it.
My suggestion? Wait it out. Give it a couple of cycles. I experienced the same thing with no explanation. It just seemed to fix itself. My theory is that it's uploading all of our data to the NSA and once it's done, battery drain returns to normal.

Google Location Services battery issue is likely the culprit based on the google play store version bug. Just do a search for google play 4.1.10 apk and download and install it. If you are running currently 4.1.6 then you have the bugged version on google play that causes google location services to drain battery.

I think it was the backup thing
I saw such a spike when I allowed photos to sync in Google. One time thing
It will backup your data and it will increase day by day. It store your password auto complete and etc. You can clear it if you want.

You can stop the background data usages by using greenify. It will hibernate the app and save lots of data.
Umm maybe some of you may be right but again almost 5 gigs as background is enormous. My pics and vids were already backed up first off second all my settings have always been the same with all my phone's and I've never had an issue . you can't restrict background or some apps won't work and I have never had to do that before. I just want to know if any one else have had this issue. My wife's s6 only has less than 100 mb and she does the same thing I do . i still think it's a firmware issue , I master reset my phone so we will see what happens.
Google Maps has location tracking data under "My Timeline." Historically it has been super accurate, showing the roads I used even when driving long distances. I also always use Google Maps. Ever since I switched to the Mate 10 Pro, this data has been straight lines across 20-40 miles of distance and highly inaccurate arrival times. I thought it was just Google, but I switched back to an Essential Phone and it became perfectly accurate again. I'm back to the Mate 10 Pro and I hope it'll work now, but I'm not holding my breath.
I often use the departure and arrival times in My Timeline for work data, so I'd love if it worked. Any thoughts?

I have not, but I use Google Maps extensively and never had even the smallest problem with accuracy. Always follows the road accurately and instantly recognizes turns (unlike the built in GPS in my Lexus sometimes). The "My Timeline" data is often just a straight line between my house and my destination, even if it's across a bridge.

That's unfortunate. Will do.
Same here, whatever i tried didn't solve it (even clean cache and data).... Even tried disabling battery optimization settings on Maps and Google Services... Nothing. I also have indications that is has something to do with multiple google accounts (i find some locations being reported in some of my other accounts). Are you on a single account? But yes, same problems, straight lines, lost stops, no routes, getting stuck in one location for hours etc...
im only on one account. is there a bigger huawei users forum than this one and the huawei subreddit?
i feel like theres so many questions with no answers and nothing being done about it
biggest forum is here dude !

What for? Any particular reason? I have put everything to manual in Launch settings, and also almost every program to Ignore Battery Optimization. Battery is working perfectly, SOT time is still amazing, and i believe programs are working fine (except Maps and Garmin Connect)... If your reasons are RAM, then i believe RAM exists to use it, not having it free all the time...

Because manual battery optimization is buggy right now.
Settings>Battery>Launch>Manage automatically all apps
In other thread here in XDA I've user said that putting chrome to be managed automatically did the trick.
You can try both ways and comment here the results...

I had everything automatic the first week and Maps History started having those problems from day 1... So, automatic doesn't do the trick for sure. Same goes for Garmin Connect...

You can report bugs by phonecall to huawei or on twitter or go on hicare app on your phone.
Don't know an official forum...

potential solution
I checked TimeLine today and since 27/01/2018, journeys are recorded with the correct level of detail again! Google Maps app last updated 04/01/2018 and I'm still on C432. No idea what changed to start TimeLine working again properly but obviously I'm really happy. Can anyone else report that journeys are being correctly recorded again?
Nope no change.
I've got the same issue. I tried all of the tips and tricks I found online to no avail. Mine just says No Visited Places. ONce is awhile it does show a place. It pisses me off tremendously. Google Timeline is a great tool to remember where you've been
If you can't remember where you've been then you have bigger problems than Google Maps not working properly!
Personally, I try to turn everything OFF that records location(s).

Just because it isn't useful for you doesn't mean it isn't useful for anyone else. I use it for work. Exact driving distances and times at clients house are very important.
