Linux on Amlogic S912 Hardware

Hi, does anyone get plain gnu linux working on any Amlogic S912 device?
Also want this!
I read somewhere about someone playing around with the odroid images but can;t find the link again now.
Would love to use these tv boxes as a desktop nix machine.

Found AML Closed/NDA Source Tree (Kitkat, S8 and more), Docs, More

Maybe someone can use these to help with Libreelec, or better yet create one rom that will work on all S8 devices and forward port it to the current Android Version? Either way the entire devices tree as of 2015 is in the first archive. (Crossposted on freaktab)
I found most of these using http://www.pan115.com and other search sites like it.
Android Source (release_m8_kitkat44_20140823_patch_20150113_0303. tar.bz2) :

Just to make it complete and maybe easier, the ARM souces from Amlogic.
Maybe not since they don't give access to most people and the device trees and many of their patches require an NDA.

Root or Flash to Linux?

I have a few hundred of these android devices that are running Android 4.4.2. I have the Image file to flash it Via USB Burning tool however many Apps won't work on the device because of the lower Android Version. I was thinking of Flashing them to Linux and using them for something else. I can't find much information online about this device.
What I do know is that it has armeabi-v7a architecture with 4 cores and Amlogic Meson8B hardware
I can provide a link to the firmware if you want to take a look at what I have
I don't know if anyone can help and I am definitely stumped as to how to move forward on this. Thank you for taking the time to consider this message

A few questions

Hello I am Jimmy and I am starting on ROM development for mobile and PC. I have a few doubts regarding that.
1> Android-x86 Oreo is the latest build on their website, But roms like Bliss, they ported Pie on PC. How to do that? I mean how to get Android-x86 pie?
2> How much average time does it take to compile the source of Android(both x86 and arm64)? [Specs for consideration: Intel Core i7-8750H 2.2 Ghz 6 cores, 16 GB RAM, Ubuntu 18.04 ]
3> What IDE/Development softwares should I use for modifying the original source code that is? Android Studio? Netbeans? Notepad++? Or what??
And a question not regarding development:
I have a device lying around my drawer. My bro used to use it until he bought a new one. Its LAVA Z60 which is based on MTK MT6737 chipset. I researched but found out that there are very few MTK devices with custom roms. Is LAVA Z60 one of em? And if so, where to get the Device Tree, Vendor, Kernel etc.. for the device? Also, note that MTK Droid tools does identify the device, but I cant create scatter file cuz there is just one item on the list with location and every other thing as 0.
Soo.. yeah thats all. Please help me if you can. Thanks in advance.
Help

Advice needed.. Best Amlogic Android box?

i'm looking at upgrading from my aging Madcatz Mojo, but I am having difficulty deciding.. i'm ready to pull the trigger on something on aliexpress, but i want something with aftermarket support, as well as something with access to a real recovery like CWM, or TWRP, and isn't fully dependent on some dodgy flash tool, developed in-house. I'm looking at Amlogic over Allwinner or Rockchip since they seem to have more open source support. Whichever chipset has the most stable linux distro is the one i'm interested in.
I am looking for a new box too. Never had one before
