P20 Lite "Software Install Failed"? - Huawei P20 Lite Questions & Answers

Hey people,
Long story short - I bought the phone off a friend, screen was cracked and during the process the volume flex cable came off (I ordered another one).
Before the phone was broken it was in complete working order, I'm guessing somewhere during the time since I got it and since it broke, auto-update started updating the phone and the battery died, causing the phone to get bricked.
Anyway, I get the error "Software Install Failed" or "Software Update Failed" I'm not sure which one, is there any way of recovering the phone or am I ****ed? I can't seem to find the recovery image either, would it be as simple as starting the phone in safe mode and then recovering it through the SD card?

My p20 lite fails to install after restarting..have tried everything.. Resetting.. Holding buttons.. Erecovery..force restart.. Tried downloading via cable..cleared cache..optimised..removed unwanted apps.. I have enough space.. Am not sure what is wrong with this 9.1.0.200 software update..can someone please assist me..

Use hisuite or try with other firmware, maybe different version

[Q] Updating Firmware failed.

Hi guys, not entirely sure if this is in the correct place but I believe it is, sorry if it is not.
Today i plugged my Samsung S2 into the laptop and Kies proceeded to connect and everything seemed fine. I then saw that there was a firmware update, I then proceeded to download and try to install it, this failed some how and it then tried to do an emergency recovery which also failed. So i turned the phone on and off again and the screen that appeared was a phone..warning triangle...computer.
I tried plugging it back up but Kies was not connecting with it anymore, and everything i have search about it talks about something called "Odin" and rooting, neither of which i have tried or read about in any great depth.
I contemplated going up to the local shop and seeing if they could do anything although i think they would be just as good as me.
Before today i hadn't updated any firmware at all since getting the phone in January, i have just been using it straight out the box. So my question is, can i fix it? And how would i go about fixing it?
Im am in the UK and on the O2 network if that is any use?

Can you try turning the phone off, then simultaneously press the Down Volume Key + Home Button + Power Button, keeping same depressed for about 10 seconds to see if the phone will boot and enter Download mode?
If it does, then you may be able to use ODIN as per this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 to properly reload an image.
Better send it to your near Samsung service center to have it replaced if it still under warranty.
if download mode works then jus flash stock rom via odin...an kies dosnt update the device if the space on main drive(ex--c drive )dosnt hav enough space i think around 30 or 60gb is required...an if u wan to update via kies only then flash old stock rom an connect to kies hope all goes well...if none work then try the jig (search on forums)well i made my own jig tht jus pushs the phone to dounload mode........cheeeeerz

I soft bricked my phone

I successfully rooted my phone about a year and a half ago, all went well. Sunday night I had my phone plugged into my computer, and somehow I must have clicked "update" in the Verizon Assistant thing. So it starts updating, and about 2 seconds later I realized what I did. So the phone finishes updating and then goes into the setup wizard. I got a couple questions in and got a message to the effect of "The wizard stopped working", I'd hit "ok" and less than a second later the message would pop back up. So I figured I'd reflash the existing ROM in Odin. "Fail".
Now my phone turns on and goes straight into what I believe is Odin mode. It says "ODIN MODE" with the same text it has in what I know is Odin mode. The only difference is that it doesn't have the green android in the center, it says "Software Update Failed - Your device didn't update successfully, Use the Verizon Software Repair Assistant on a computer to repair your device and complete the update". (Is this the same mode as entering Odin mode with the power/home/vol dn buttons?) So I tried that. Five times. Each time it stops at 83% and says the phone was unplugged. It wasn't, I tried combinations of different cables/USB ports.
From what I've found so far, you need to know my bootloader to help me. The ROM I flashed all those months ago (and tried to reflash recently) was "I545VRUFNC5_I545VZWFNC5", My original build was "KOT49H.I545VRUFNG6", The Verizon Repair Assistant sees "Version OF1"... So I guess I have NC5 or some screwed up combination of NC5 and OF1?
I *may* have had a little bit of data on the phone that I'd like to save, almost everything was on the external card, which I have now removed to prevent accidents. However, I believe I've already lost any data that was in the phone? I'd be perfectly happy to get it working at all, but I would like to update to OF1, since it appears it can be rooted. If that's wrong, I'd like to have the newest version that can be rooted. But like I said, working at all would be great.
Thanks so much for any help

Another Hardbricked LG V10 please help :/

Hello guys and gals, so i just recieved my LG V10 H901 and tried to follow https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...step-step-guide-rooting-lg-v10-using-t3382631 this guide, but eventually i ended up with a brick after trying to flash the .tot file.
I keep getting
Boot Verification Fail
- cause: MISHMATCH_SIG_LEN
The TWRP recovery i had is now gone, and i can't access Bootloader. I can enter Download though. I read a lot of things around the problem, but i always stuck on various software versions or phone versions i can't really understand. Is there any way to get the phone back working? Before i try any method i just want to be sure i wont mess even worse (if that is even possible).
I tried UnbrickMe thread, but it says only for soft version:h90120j I have soft version H90120c (i haven't performed the update to MM) so i don't wanna try without being sure its going to work.
I m leaving for vacations in couple of days and i don't have a phone :/ please give me your lights.
Also LGUP wont see the phone, the same for ADB.
OK I Fixed it!
I was able to get out of this maelstrom of bootloops and to finaly flash the default ROM (you can find it here https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/general/stock-h90120j000712-kdz-t3436249 )
So what i did is to remove battery for 10 seconds
Put The battery in
Hold volume up button
Plugin the phone to my PC through USB
Then download mode will start
I opened LGUP and fortunately it was able to see my phone.
Then went to Upgrade and flashed the kdz file.
All went smoothly and the phone is back working.

Samsung Galaxy J5 - No signs of life after Odin Flash

Hey all,
First i'd like to tell my phone was 'working' as it was able to go to download mode.
Im not really an expert, but when I used Google to find a solution for my error I read about using Odin.
(In case you need the error, I will try to edit the thread and add this asap!)
I followed a tutorial about using Odin and tried to get my phone up back and running.
I downloaded the following file for my Samsung J5:
sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-j5/SM-J500FN/PHN/download/J500FNXXS1BQG3/181971/
After using the Odin software it somehow got interrupted while installing. (cable came loose I guess, I heard the connect/disconnect sound shortly after each other)
Also I noticed there was a small red text on the screen complaining about the available size on the phone.
Even though the phone installation was interrupted, the phone was still able to get into download mode.
Next up, I decided to place a micro SD card to get extra storage space and retried the Odin process. The final result was a "PASS" (see screenshot)
i.imgur.com/WzFJLaQ.jpg
After the update was done 'succesfully' the phone screen immediately turned to black.
There were no signs of life anymore, not even accessing boot mode / recovery mode no nothing.
I've bought an USB JIG, but sadly also with the JIG I had no luck.
Is there any way to get my phone back and running? or can anyone give me some advice?
I really hope someone can help me out!
Sounds like a hard brick ?
This happens when you try to upgrade or downgrade, some devices don´t allow this or the firmware is not matching.
Pull out battery if it is removable for some minutes then try normal method, if not....
Here the correct method to do a jig by your own or maybe it´s better to buy one (it´s not expensive) to made sure that is correctly made http://www.instructables.com/id/USB-JIG-to-give-life-to-your-Bricked-mobile/
Also you can try with Smart Switch https://youtu.be/y8AZyalTf5Y

Stuck in Firmware Update Mode

I recently purchased two new VS988 for an elderly friend of mine who loves his current G6 and was worried about LG getting out of the phone business. Trying to get the phones all set up for him I tried running the OTA updates which kept failing. After the OTA update process failed a dozen times or more I decided to try using the Windows VZW update utility. Finally, after a dozen tries the VZW utility finally managed to DL the FW to my computer but when it tried to install the FW it booted the phone into FW Update Mode and then failed to install. I have tried all of the listed methods of button presses to reboot the phone into any other mode but it always comes back to FW update mode. This morning I learned about the LGUP program and have given that a try and it stops at 4% with an error message that says "Error: 0x700A, ManipulateBootPT Failed"
I'm not sure what else to try. I'm using the cable that came in the box and a USB port on the back of my computer.
Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.
Maybe turn of recovery mode
How am I supposed to do that? No matter what buttons I try pressing when rebooting the phone it always comes back into FW Update Mode. I tried running the recovery process and the Verizon updater program and that had the same problem.

I don't recommend advice from that guy
The problem your having is stuck in download mode.
As long as you're not connected to a PC via USB and actively transferring a firmware file, you should be able to force shutdown by removing the battery and placing it back in (if possible) or pressing and holding Power for about 20 seconds. Then power on again normally.

Hey, did my information help?
Unfortunately nothing has worked I just ended up with two bricked phones. Thankfully they were just supposed to be back up phones for somebody that is unlikely to need them and can afford buying another replacement if something ever actually does happen to his primary. He has a lot of accessibility issues in a really prefers having the the buttons on the back of the phone so he doesn't keep turning it off accidentally.

If your android was stuck in recovery mode (as i know it), you could of just factory reset right?
forgive me it's been a couple of months since I bothered messing around with them but I believe it's not a generic recovery mode you know where you've got those four text options at the top you know and the Android with the exclamation point coming out of its chest but instead it's a firmware update mode. No amount of software tools or button key presses and we'll get the phones to do anything else. Both phones are dead right now cuz I just wanted to confirm what I was telling you whatever they managed to charge up later I will make sure what I'm saying is correct and I will let you know otherwise
If this is the screen you see, then i regret to inform you that your phone might have been bricked the entire time and you couldn't save it (unless you get new firmware for you device and install it). Trust me i had this experience before.
This is what I get. I try running the the Verizon LG update utility on the computer and after it reaches 11% or something like that it fails

Welp, my last geuss at this is that the previous owner got something like a virus to prevent the firmware update to continue. i've only worked with lg phones a few times, but those phones where very old (2008) and did not run android
Thanks for trying. I've given up and my friend didn't even get upset about it. Whatever went wrong happened when I tried to manually update them because the OTA kept failing. If he buys any more backups in the future I'll find him something a little more recent.
