Helllo everyone,
i use an Redmi 4x with LineageOS 15, TWRP-3.2.3-1, and gapps nano, encrypted storage, and after updating the OS i have a major problem here is what happend:
-clicked update in OS wich launched recovery with TWRP and installation started
-Device tries to reboot itself and is then in fastboot mode.
i cant get out of fastboot, no button combo or adb command would work....
here is what i tried:
-adb command "fastboot continue"
-holding volUp and Power -> launch to fastboot again
-adb command "fastboot boot TWRP-3.2.3-1.-santoni.img" -> this is the only way to get out of fastboot and into recovery (i managed to grab my internal storage files and make a backup from here)
-from recovery i tried to wipe different partitions and restore a Backup but all the time i get back to Fastboot when i try to boot system. (tried different backups)
-i flashed the twrp.img to the recovery partition thinking that i can now press volUP and Power to start recovery but even then only fastboot. (the only way to enter twrp for me is with my computer connected)
-wiped all and installed a fresh ROM (latest LineageOS) with gapps -> get past fastboot but then the device is stuck with the bootlogo from Lineage. (the way i did it: wipe system and cache, then install the Lineage and gapps .Zip files simultaneously, correct? )
So now im clueless.... i once hardbricked this phone and then had to fiddle around with Testpoints and so, i dont want to do that again.
Any suggestions what this problem might be? why wont my device boot even after complete factory reset and then clean ROM install?

After flashing twrp with sp flash tools, i am not able to enter into recovery, however i push volume up + power buttons... Phone keeps booting into normal android mode instead.
USB Vcom driver successfully installed, and spflash tool seems to work fine. Any ideas?
After flashing:
reboot with vol-down and power in that "chinese recovery thing" (look like this http://visihow.com/images/9/99/Samsung-chinese-factory-reset.png )
then connect phone with pc and reboot with adb in "real" recovery (adb reboot recovery)
if you boot normal first, recovery gets overwritten by default recovery
I boot into bootloader by pressing home button + power
adb reboot recovery
Dont boot to twrp
I flashing recovery, but I dont boot to twrp. Which version twrp you used?
hello
Yesterday my WileyFox Spark+ came in, which is still equipped with COS13.0.1, based on Android 6.0.1 and encrypted.
For disable encryption,i had followed the following process:
- factory reset whith sitting and recovery mode,
but without result because turned out the phone was encrypted with a startup pattern already from the box.
As I was unable to root my device, I have used adb and fastboot to install twrp with the commands :
adb reboot-recovery
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot reboot
Then I press to volume down button to display the recovery menu but, instead of displaying the menu, the device boot again and again until I'm tired and I release the button. Then the phone boot normaly on Android...
Any idea how i should progress further?
Thanks for the help.
Hi,
i tried to upgrade to the latest 11.0.6 global ROM and as usually I only booted to TWRP and sideloaded the ROM. Bootloader is unlocked, already flashed a lot of different stock & custom ROMs.
adb reboot fastboot
fastboot boot twrp.img (used 3.2.3 with working recovery)
[factory reset from within TWRP]
adb sideload [the new 11.0.6 ROM]
adb sideload had an error 7 at some point and did not finish. No big deal I thought -> [reboot system] from within TWRP and tried to enter fastboot again at first boot [volume down]
BUT: now I am not able to enter fastboot again. The phone starts with the orange 'POCOPHONE by Xiaomi' screen and seems to reset after a minute or so -> loop. Holding [volume down] while booting only brings a black screen (not off, a little grey but no fastboot logo etc.). Probably, fastboot didn't flash correcly. Also, it is not recognized either in fastboot or adb.
Anybody else had this before? Is there something I can try to revice it? Any helpful information is highly welcome,
thanks
I'm no expert, did you try another data cable? Just in case you could use a dry toothbrush and clean the phone's connector . What does the computer says in power+volume down mode? It should say what device you're connecting and add drivers.
There might be a way to repair the bootloader , it involves qcom tool. There's a guide somewhere. I'd try first change cable and computer.
Hey there ! Last week i was in miui in mi a3 maybe slot b (i don't remember) and tries to go back to stock rom . I don't know what did i wipe , formate but i did something that my device isn't flashing any rom in mi flash tool it take 2000seconds + and in twrp it always shows zip error and edl mode also same problem but finally cc9e conversation rom flashed and i hard Brick my device . Stock in mi logo nothing happens . Device not going in fastboot mode nor twrp . Then i go in local repair and he put stock rom back i don't know what he did (maybe removing back and then eld flash ) but now i want to go back in miui i tried to change slot to a to flash twrp it didn't work . Only "fastboot getvar all" shows it is currently on b slot help me
I suggest you change to Slot_a and then just reboot your phone. If the repair man put stock rom back on the phone it is probably on Slot_a. On my phone (Mi A3 Global) Slot_b is where Twrp or LineageOS recovery is installed.
If you want to install TWRP, stay on Slot-b, go into fastboot mode and type:
Fastboot devices (to confirm fastboot connected)
Fastboot getvar current-slot (to confirm you are on Slot_b)
fastboot erase boot (to erase the current boot/recovery)
Fastboot flash boot twrp.img
fastboot reboot (hold down Power + Vol up button. Release Power button when 'Android One' logo appears).
Phone should boot into Twrp.
Don't use the MI Flash Tool to flash the Stock rom. Do it from Android SDK platform-tools. It worked for me.
Download the stock MIUI firmware fastboot image from: https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/laurel/
Then follow the guide here: https://www.thecustomdroid.com/xiaomi-mi-a3-stock-firmware-guide/
