Hello all!
Im new to the forum, so forgive me for any mistakes or mis-information.
I have a S8 Active (g892-a) with baseband version G892AUCS2BRF2, the june 6 2018 build. I had a 3rd party unlock so I can use it on T-mobile which has worked very well, but i believe this is the reason i dont get any updates.
I cannot seem to get any kind of updates either through the OTA manager in settings or smart switch. I've tried clearing the cache, restarting the phone, deleting smart switch and reinstalling to see if smart switch would update. but it only comes back with "your device is up to date". Is there anyway I can get my phone to update? Either through odin or through smart switch. I would love to update to 9 whenever it is available for the active, but would still like to get normal updates that are more recent. Possibly I can flash G892U firmware onto it, even if its G892A?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi all,
Hopefully one of you out there will be able to help me. I see that there is an update for s3 that helps fix the re-draw issues, adds a brightness toggle and such other things. However when I connect my phone to KIES it tells me I have the latest firmware and I cannot update. I have the latest version of KIES also and it still does not recognise this update?
As well as this within my 'About Device' area of my phone I know that most other devices have a 'Software Update' button situated at the top, yet mine does not have this either, so I cannot check for the update this way? As well as this I understand there is also a software update widget? Yet again my phone does not seem to have this?
None of the standard ways is allowing me to update my phone, I managed to get KIES to update my phone to a particular firmware only to find out that this new firmware was the same as one my mate got already on the phone?
I really want to get this new update so any advice would be appreciated. If it helps I am with orange and upgraded to this phone over the phone.
Thanks again
Ross
Anybody have any idea what the problem is?
Bumping this to the top of threads to see if anyone has an idea why?
Hello all, I'm having a slight problem, I noticed that AT&T keeps trying to roll-out a new software update, however, my Galaxy S6 Active will download it fine, and then when trying to install the update I get prompted with the message "The install cannot be completed".
I thought at first this must be due to an application that I had disabled, but unfortunately it was not the case as I enabled every blocked app, and yet I still got the same error.
8 files still remain disabled even though I tell Debloater to "unblock" all and they include the following (I have tried countless times to enable these files with no luck):
ContainerAgent2.apk
EmergencyLauncher.apk
KnoxBBCProvider.apk
KnoxKeyguard.apk
KnoxShortcuts.apk
KnoxSwitcher.apk
KnoxTrustAgent.apk
KnoxVerifier.apk
I even performed a hard factory data reset, and these apps still remained blocked. I just want to be able to receive OTA software updates. Any ideas on what I can do? Thanks.
Install the original firmware via Odin.

Hi,
Have you found a solution? what you have to able to OTA update works?
tks!
Hi, thought I'd come here as it seems to be full of Android experts!
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Mini S4 - GT-I9195I from eBay.
The phone was brand new, but not sealed and the phone had already been through the initial setup process, although all the new stickers were all over it.
However, when I try to update the handset, I get this message -
The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorised way. Try downloading software updates using Samsung Kies on your PC
Could this be down to apps that are installed? (Whatsapp, a Countdown game)? I have tried to use the Samsung software but get told after the latest update has downloaded that there was an error verifying it?
I'm really not sure if the phone has been hacked or not. Could this message be because the seller unlocked the handset? When I view the status of the phone in settings, everything looks normal although shaded out. It's on Android 4.4.4. Build no. KTU84P.I9195IXXU1AOD1
Hope someone can help.
Thanks
Hey! So yeah, loving the phone but it's giving me a headache; it's not rooted or tampered with. Not even OEM unlocked. Only developer options were unlocked. Apps and settings were migrated from my previous Samsung phone with SmartSwitch.

All kinds of root and safetynet and whatever apps pass and software and security patches are up to date (Google Play 1 January 2023, Android security patch 1 February 2023, Status: Official)
But Samsung Pass says "Your device has been rooted. Samsung Pass cannot be used on rooted devices for security reasons." Banking apps are obscure but one does give some hints as to the possible causes: modification attempt through hooking, using untrusted screen reader application, root or jailbreak, using untrusted keyboard application.
I use AdGuard and a 3rd party launcher (Flick) instead of OneUI and FlorisBoard keyboard but even if they are uninstalled the issue stays. I don't use any other major apps, just a bunch of regular apps. I don't use "screen reader" as far as I know and TalkBack is disabled.
This is really annoying and I can see dozens of similar cases even for older Sxx generations sometimes after updates and happening out of nowhere and even with new stock phones. People report that sometimes factory reset helps but sometimes doesn't and sometimes it only helps for a while.
I really don't want to factory reset just to try if it works until I exhausted all other options. It took me well over a day to set up everything the way I wanted.
Any help other than reset is very much appreciated!
Find Samsung Pass in apps...and clear data.
^Thanks, but it didn't help.

I have the same issue and Im thinking about it is caused by smart switch from my old s21u which was rooted. Did You use smart switch too? Maybe I should do a factory reset, but then I lose all my stuff..
^Yep, I also used SmartSwitch with a rooted S9+. And I did find a few posts about SmartSwitch being the issue. But there are also some posts that said that reseting and not using SmartSwitch but manually installing all the apps they used the issue came back later. So far not using SmartSwitch is the only thing that might help but hopefully there's something else I can do to fix this without reseting.

My banking apps refused to work until I closed developer mode, it worked normally again, give it a try it may help, otherwise do a hard reset, and don't use smart switch next time

Install Riru. It will tell you what symptoms of root it detects and could help to understand the cause of this issue.

HOLY ****! I could kiss you right now! That tool is awesome!
It was Xposed installed automatically with SmartSwitch which I didn't notice or even ever opened on this phone. Uninstalled it and everything works! Thank you!
I had magisk installed lmao.. (cuz of the smart switch)
I bought this unlocked phone on ebay last December 2022 for a good price and it has worked great with a few issues. This time I can't seem to update the software even though it's old Android 11, UI 3.1 from 2021 and new software Android 13, UI 5.1 is available (looked at my son's S21+ last night). I tried to update in phone settings and says it's up to date. I tried with Smartswitch and there is no screen coming up that says an update is available. So from my research apparently I may have to flash new firmware with Oden and Frija, but this could brick my only phone, so I'm reluctant. I'm posting here to see if I'm missing something, or will I have to do the entire Oden/Frija procedure? If I leave my phone at Android 11 will my phone start having issues in the future with old software? That's my concern.
Thanks
I have the same problem. Maybe the solution is backup all data to samsung account and fresh reinstall a rom in the same version as the phone is to not lose data. After that the update via OTA should be released. But these are all guesses. I will test it on mine
