Mate 10 Pro Relock Bootloader - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hi at all!
I've unlocked bootloader of my Mate 10 Pro (with oem code) for install Onirom (OpenKirin), but now i can't relock bootloader after revert to stock because, the command "fastboot oem relock <code>" return me an error: "FAILED (remote: 'root type is risk')".
Other informations:
For flash Omnirom i follow this guide: "https://openkirin.net/user_guide/openkirin-rom-installation-instructions/", so i don't flash any recovery, but only system.
I restore stock rom eRecovery (so directly from Huawei and not with another service like Firmware Finder).
Could someone help me?
Thanks
Edit: I resolved following this step:
Downgrade to Oreo with Hisuite
Relock Bootloader with "fastboot oem relock <code>" (that works in Oreo)
Upgrade with OTA

Doing a factory reset via recovery would have also help you to pass "FAILED (remote: 'root type is risk')".

Thanks for reply
I've tried doing factory reset via eRecovery and recovery before downgrade with no success.
Only after a downgrade I can relock bootloader.

How did you manage to downgrade oreo with hisuite?
I also have the bootloader unlocked and I can not go back to oreo.

Fastboot can't flash anything after upgrade to B389

Hi~
My phone is huawei honor 7.
Fist, I'm sure I have unlocked my bootloader.
I upgrade to B388 today by fastboot flash cust.img and boot.img and system.img which extract from huawei's official update.app.
Then the phone reboot and I leaved for a while, but when I come back, I found it has replace my twrp by official recovery.
So I just reset my phone and wipe cache. When I reboot to system, I receive an OTA update, and I choose "Download latest full package" then the phone finish update by itself. So my phone now running EMUI 4.0.3 B389.
Finally, I enter fastboot model by "adb reboot bootloader" and try to flash twrp, it tell me:
Code:
PS E:\Root\platform-tools> fastboot flash recovery E:\Root\twrp.img
target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'recovery' (25890 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.563s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.570s
I try to flash some old version system, but I got same error. But I type " fastboot oem get-bootinfo" It shows that I was unlocked.
So how can I flash twrp again and Root my phone?
--------------------------
By the way, I found I even can not relock my oem by now!
Code:
C:\Users\omicron3069>fastboot oem relock 23**********9971
...
FAILED (remote: stat not match)
finished. total time: 0.000s
C:\Users\omicron3069>fastboot reboot
rebooting...
finished. total time: 0.125s
hmmmm... solve this weird problem by turn on "unknown source " switch in security setting.
I have the same problem. After B396 update I can not load anything in bootloader mode. I also get a "Software Install Failed" error when I try to return to an older version using dload or update.zip.
Edit: My bootloader is unlocked but i can't relock or unlock it again.
How can i solve this problem? Please someone help me!

1. If you want to downgrade your firmware version, you need flash a downgrade package first by use dload method. Generally, you can find this kind of package in huawei hiclub ROM thread.
This is Chinese hiclub (club.huawei.com/thread-7268260-1-2.html) that contain this kind of package.
2. I solve this problem by open that unknown source switch . If you don't know where it is, just search it in settings.
3. I know a tool named HiSuit, which may can help you to downgrade your system.
4. Also, make sure you have turn off that f**ing "Phone Finder"!! This is just a s**t made by huawei!!
Hope those can help you~

Have you wiped system? That could be the error that twrp gives.
Edit: Don't forget to make a backup of system and data!
Even if the bootloader screen says that the phone is unlocked, in reality it isn't and that's why you are getting the command not allowed text. Just type fastboot oem unlock and your code to unlock it again. The same problem is present on many Huawei phones like the P8 and P9 Lite I've tested after installing an update.
if you want to emui4.0 to 3.0 it was impossible
HUAWEI big chrysanthemum and foolish engineer doesnt want you to flash emui3.0 But you can use the hisuite to demotion.I hope reply is very useful to you

Oreo or Nougat recovery - STF-L09

Hi all,
Currently running Oreo (via OldDroid manual update) then LOS 15.1 (Berkley unofficial) on top, which is great but would like NFC, buttons, flashlight.
What is the best method to reinstate this functionality? I have tried the rollback for OldDroid rollback to no avail. I believe this method assumes you are rooted, which i am not.
Happy to be on EMUI 5 if necessary as i believe i can now update to Oreo OTA.
Cheers
Can i provide further pertinent information or ask elsewhere to get replies?
What did you do in the fist place to go from stock oreo to LOS 15.0 ; any links ?
Thank you.
I flashed the system image using "fastboot flash system system.img" via article https://www.xda-developers.com/lineageos-honor-view-10-huawei-mate-10-pro-project-treble/
Cheers
I think, once unrooted, you'll have to flash back stock system.

Great, thank you. I am not rooted so I extracted the system.img from STF-L09SC432B360a (from http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/?firmware_model=STF-L09&firmware_page=0) using this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/guide-extracting-stock-firmware-files-t3756733
Then using that stock emui 8 system image:
"fastboot flash system system.img"
I receive the following error:
error: cannot load 'SYSTEM.img'
Any ideas?
Cheers
Another attempt at system.img extract using my windows box and the windows software referred to in https://forum.xda-developers.com/mat...files-t3756733.
This time i was able to flash the system.img successfully. When the device booted, it boot looped 3/4 times then i received :
Huawei eRecovery :
"Serious problems occurred when the phone boot, you are recommended to do factory data reset
NOTE: user data will be wiped after recovery".
I performed this reset and device booted to TWRP some commands took place but too quick (saw selinux buts thats it). Device rebooted twice then loaded Huawei eRecovery where the only option is :
Download latest version and recovery
Restore system with wifi
Entered wifi details
Getting package info from server
Getting package info failed.
Booting into TWRP the 'Factory Reset' option performs the same process that i saw when Huawei eRecovery recommended the factory data reset. Some i'm confident in what happened at that point now. Unsure as to what to try at this point. The phone does not boot into EMUI and will only boot to Huawei eRecovery.
The bootloader is unlocked, as per the process to install LineageOS 15.1 in the link in the OP. I've not checked if its still unlocked, but guess that could be causing a problem?
Just checked and bootloader is unlocked.
Interestingly the process to re lock it from the Huawei site (https://emui.huawei.com/en/unlock_step) shows that you have to use the same command to lock the bootloader as to lock it again:
Note: to re-lock the bootloader after unlocking it, restore the device’s software to the Huawei official version using a microSD card then switch the device to fastboot mode and enter “fastboot oem unlock ****************” in the computer’s command prompt, where * refers to the 16-digit unlock password. The device will then restart, and the bootloader lock status will change to “Bootloader Lock State: RELOCKED”.
If i follow those instructions i get the below error:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock **************** <-my 16 digit code
...
FAILED (remote: already fastboot unlocked)
Stop trying to lock your bootloader, it won't help you. Interresing info though.
Did it occur to you that after flashing back successfully system.img it could have been good to flash back stock recovery over twrp ?
This way you would have bootloop 3 or 4 times, and then stock recovery would have launch, not twrp.
I think a format system from this stock recovery, not twrp, would have solve your problem.
Thanks. So I can leave the boot loader unlocked at this point and run stock emui? I'll flash stock recovery. Perhaps that will suggest factory reset and then I'll be able to boot.
Thanks again.

In order to revert to the stock recovery is it necessary to flash all three recovery images from the update.app file? :
recovery_ramdisk
recovery_vendor
recovery_vbmeta
Looking at flashing the recovery_ramdisk image with the stock version i have extracted using the below:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RECOVERY_RAMDISK.img
Noticed the stock recovery_ramdisk i extracted has a filename of 'RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img', not ending in 'K' for 'RAMDISK. Presumably i can simply rename my recovery_ramdisk to "RECOVERY_RAMDISK.img" unless a 15 character filename is a limitation, or adjust my fastboot command to :
Code:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RECOVERY_[B]RAMDIS[/B].img
Code:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img
Did the trick to boot back into EMUI 8. However, i still have an intermittent torch/flashlight and the navigation keys/buttons do not work.
Any ideas on where i go from here?

You'll need to be unrooted and with stock recovery for applying ota when it will be available.
I don't know if you'll need stock kernel for ota...

Great, i should be able to meet this criteria quite easily then :
+ I've never rooted the device
+ I have reverted to stock recovery
+ I flashed the stock kernel over the top of the button fix kernel mentioned earlier in this thread.
Thanks again for your help, much appreciated.

Relocking Bootloader

Hi guys,
I got a bootloader unlocked ANE-LX2J and I want to lock it again but I dont know the next step.
I still have the bootloader unlock code and already flashed FULL OTA using TWRP and did factory reset.
So now, my P20 Lite is running pure stock again and ready to be locked right? or still not lol :silly:
Based on what I read here, after relocking bootloader using fastboot oem relock command, the warning/alert that shows when the device is booting is still there and I want to get rid of it.
Thanks :highfive:

Yes, you're ok to relock your bootloader if all partition and recovery are stock and your device is working without issues. After relock the recovery will do Factory Data Reset and no more warnings "your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted"
Boot into Fastboot&Rescue Mode and use this command:
Code:
fastboot oem relock [I][B]yourcode[/B][/I]
Then you enter into Lock Bootloader menu and just follow the instructions.
YES -
NO -

Are you using phone with working sim, or without? Why I ask about sim? If not working sim card, then a lot phones will not give OEM unlock option, once it was for me with Sony phone, after I inserted sim needet to wait weak and only then OEM unlock option was accessable.
What are your phone full model ? Like, ane-lx1c432b166

ok, didnt give full ph0ne model, dont need, can go and find all you need yourself : from this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...om-official-emui-8-0-huawei-p20-lite-t3773999
7. dload package
In this site you can search for firmware by Huawei P20 Lite or directly by your device oem name (ANNE-L01, ANNE-L03, ANNE-L21, ANNE-L22, ANNE-L23, etc...
http://androidhost.ru/search.html
Download the firmware that match with your device and unzip.
Under folder Software you will found the folder dload, copy this folder to sdcard.
Under folder ReleaseDoc you will find a Software Upgrade Guideline.docx, read it.
User data will be wiped.
Update is done with stock recovery
If your Bootloader is currently unlocked at the end it will be changed to lock state.
i gues you have your bootloader code, you can even use older package, adn reset your phone using this dload method!!

Hallo again,
Ok so for the stock recovery you can download it on the thread by ciubi93, on this link https://mega.nz/#!SR9RzKST!dhXS0yC-p_SvWu-SYYLaop1aRFzSulLVrnSXCVVJiGI after you download this, download the fastboot adb tools - here's a link of the xda for that https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/ after you did that guide from xda, copy the stock recovery into that folder and then press shift+right click of your mouse on the folder and select "open powershell window here (in case of windows 10) or in case of windows 7 (open command prompt window here)" , if you have a power shell window then power off your device then press power ON + volume down and type on the window ".\fastboot flash recovery recovery_ramdisk.img ", after this you have your stock recovery successfully reset and you can now flash the official dload package, try it via power ON + Volume down + Volume up at the same time until the huawei logo disappears and then you release.
I really hope this helps cause I tried this a lot on mine.

Hi there
Yeah I forgot you have FRP locked....My bad....Anyway, can you tell me the current build you have and the one you want to install? Example: C17 8.0.0.140
Because if you try to install a different firmware which is not from your country you need to change your oem info first.

Also if you had it unlocked I assume you have the unlock code with you, in that case try this first:
Relock the bootloader using fastboot command "fastboot oem relock *codehere* " this will erase all DATA, it will do an hard reset, be sure to backup first!
After that, you can unlock the bootloader again via fastboot command "fastboot oem unlock *codehere*" and then it will unlock both bootloader and FRP

Hm, if I'm correct, you can't unlock bootloader, if frp are locked, frp will be unlocked, when you allow OEM unlock under developer options.
Only thing there can do, connect with mofuz ROM developer to help return to stock, otherwise our suggestions will not work, because all I know is for stock emui.
But yeah, with right phone build number he shulda be able to return to stock with no problem, so, does he know what was stock emui build he had before started to play with phone..??!!
And, can download all dload packages and try them all, no harm if it fails, but maybe some will reflash system as it should be

You can't unlock FRP when you have the booloader unlocked yes I know, but what I said is for him to relock first and then unlock it again Once he unlocks again the FRP will become unlocked, I looked into this thread for that and they also confirmed it works here's the proof if you have doughts quoting @clsA "FRP Lock occurs when the phone has a firmware mismatch and or oem unlocking is not on in developer options":

I locked and relocked the bootloader, now i can only access to the recovery or to the fastboot. In the recovery, anything i do like reset, my phone reboot again to the recovery, in the fastboot mode i can't relock the bootloader, need to access to the phone to enable developer options. I tried to do a hard reset or an update with dload, nothing work, always rebooting to the recovery. My phone is broken now

remote: 'root type is risk'

Usually, when you relock the bootloader, you type in the command to relock it, with the bl unlock code, and boom it relocks it and wipes system with no issue.
With my device, it doesn't do that. It instead, spits out an error message saying "remote: 'root type is risk'".
I have gone into eRecovery, and downloaded latest version and recovery.
I have also tried to use the dload method, with no success, with dload telling me that the update failed.
I have flashed recovery and eRecovery stock images extracted from an UPDATE.app I found somewhere.
Would anyone know what is happening??

The bootloader status will not be lock, but relock. For apps like Google pay, it's like an unlocked bootloader. Only the Service firmware locks BL normally and correctly .
Do not forget that you should not joke with relock procedure. Must be full stock, (your situation is clearly not the same), otherwise you may end up with a nice paperweight.
