Hi everybody,
Since the TP2 is using a whole lot more power than my old HTC Universal, I am looking for a decent Solar charging solution for on my bike.
TomTomnavigator + GPS use more than 500mA (I mean when I put in a car charger of this type hte phone says "insufficient current to blablabl")
I surfed the net, but decent info is hard to find about this specific problem. I mean I want to plug my phone in the solar charger and KNOW that it will give sufficient powersupply to charge the battery (or at least keep it at the same level)
Anybody an idea or maybe a link to a DECENT site (with CORRECT technical info)? Commercial sites with the best product ever, i have seen enough until you test it!

I have one of these that I got on Amazon for 80 bucks and I love this thing! It also acts as a spare battery, and you can adjust the voltage. I brought it with me when I went camping. It's definitely worth it.

I've tried several of the cheap Chinese solar chargers and also a Solio, and they are all crap
Solar charger need direct sunlight. If cloudy, they can take a few days (daylight days not 24hr days!) to charge. So unless you live on the African Savanah where it will charge in 7 hours, then you will have a long wait.
I put my Solio on my window cill in January this year, and by the midle of February it got a full charge. I kid you not
You are probably much better off with a external power pack that uses 1 or 2 standard AA batteries or a minimum 2000mAh lithium battery

Where might I get an external power pack with more than one AA battery? I can only find 1xAA packs, and I can't imagine a little old alkaline AA could produce NEARLY enough current at 5v to charge our beefy phones. Not for any amount of time, anyway, and not without heating up to what I would consider dangerous levels...

I'm afraid too that alcaline AA's won't do the job pretty well, although rechargeable NiMh could be worth a try
For outdoor-recharge, I'm using this general USB-charger featuring a rechargeable 2200 mAh 18650 LiOn battery:

This is the best on I have found
Its a massive 3400mAh with a 5v 700ma output so will charge most phones and other gadgets no problem. It is just a bit smaller than the TP2 so is easy to carry around in a pocket
I got mine off ebay for less money - same unit but a different manufacturer. AFAIK, these are commonly rebranded, but look for the shape and the 3400 mah spec.
Most of the other Chinese ones from places like Dealextreme are lower capacity
I was really hoping for something using standard AA (maybe NiMH, 4 of those would be 4.8V).
In fact, 2xAA NiMH should be able to deliver the sort of current we're talking about here, right?

I got an Energizer 2xAA charger, and it works on my TP2 absolutely fine. You need to use good quality batteries in it, but it's fairly compact and keeps the battery topped up while I'm out using the GPS with no car nearby!!!

Energizer says it needs Lithium batteries (which I think are 1.7v), have you tried with NiMH perhaps (which are 1.2v)? I'd think it'd figure the batteries were empty even when they were newly charged.

I've got standard Duracell 1.5V alkaline batteries in it right now, and it charges it just fine! I think energizer say that to make you buy their ridiculously expensive lithium batteries!!
So I have started using an application on my Note 3 that is pretty much a battery muncher, GPS, Data, Processing, Graphics the works. I am looking into some options for extending battery life with some accessories. I was originally planning on getting 2 batteries with a charger but I'd like to also consider a portable battery pack so I can share the power with friends. What I am curious about is whether or not the charger can support the 900ma/h charging rate. I was wondering if the standard usb port can support the power as long as its a micro usb 3.0 connector. To simplify I just need to know that if I have type A usb connector to a micro usb 3.0 connector can I charge my phone at the fastest rate. And does the output of the charger have to be at least 1A?

I own two battery packs. Both are from a company called PowerGen and I picked them up on Amazon.com. One pack is 12,000mah the other is 5,200mah. You just plug your regular charging cable into one of the standard USB jacks in the battery pack and turn it on. The larger pack has a 2A jack and will charge at a fast rate. When I was using the Note 2, I used a special heavy duty charging cable that I picked up on Amazon.com and that cable allowed the Note 2 to charge at a faster rate. I have not tried to use the cable on the Note 3, but I might soon. I feel that battery packs are a much more flexible approach than extra batteries. You can get more than one recharge on the battery pack. I addition, I use the battery packs with a large number of other devices. If you get a new device, the battery pack can still be used.

YUp. I have an old anker external battery with 1a and 2a ports, the 2a port charges my note 3 at 1800. To be fair it is picky over the cable used (a decent quality non ribbon cable) and the temperature of the phone and battery (thermal throttling which is perfectly sensible to avoid cooking the battery and phone). It appears that there is a lot of variables that can potentially screw up a decent charge rate for some folks some of the time. My experience with the anker battery pack has been excellent, even nearly 2 years later after daily use.
Personally I am getting a little tired of the whole charging the battery twice a day so I am looking at a larger battery. The zerolemon allegedly affects signal quality, the 6400mah ones from elsewhere seem to come with shocking cases so I am still looking. It would be great if samsung came out with an extended battery and case. You think they would be after that money.

How do you check what the charging rate is And id like a cable that bends with no resistance unlike the factory cable .
Theres a free app "galaxy charging current lite", seems to be pretty accurate compared to time taken to charge.
As for the cables. I checked quite a few cables and I noticed that the higher quality cables, more expensive, thicker, better connectors etc were far more likely to charge at a higher rate. I would not be shocked if some of the cheaper cables, especially the flat noodle types were skimping either in the cables or the shielding. I could be entirely wrong of course but I did attempt to limit any other variables like being in airplane mode, low room temp, battery not near fully charged.
Don't get me wrong, I find it a huge PITA using a stiffer cable but that is why I am looking for an extended battery that doesn't leave me with the worlds worst case or stuff up the signal.
Can anyone recommend a good car charger and a battery pack around 10,000 mah

I bought a floureon 12000 portable battery I was wondering what the 1 and 2 usb are for thanks for clarifying is it bad if I use the 2.a every time I charge fast will that effect my phone heating up etc?

2 a is not bad. That is what the oem charger is. Depending on how much juice the app is using 1a won't cut it.

I use myCharge Amp 6000xt when I'm travelling. Plugs right into any US outlet to rechage, and can charge at up to 2.1A, with 3 USB ports available (1200mA typical charge rate on my Note 3 using a generic USB cable, according to my charge current app).

Most phones only come with a 1A charger, while most tablets (and Note 3) come with a 2-2.1A charger. I have an Power Bank battery with a 1A port and a 2.1A port. The 2. 1A port is the only one I use to charge my Note 3, and I use the 1A port for other phones and/or my blue tooth headset.

I recently received the CHOETECH qc 3.0 wall charger to test out and review. I gotta say I love their products. I have a fast wireless chager, a qc 2.0 power bank and the qc 3.0 wall charger. While I don't have any qc 3.0 compatible devices her, this wall charger is awesome. It's very well made, sleek, and charges as fast as the OEM charger from ssung for my note 5. Love love love CHOETECH and all their products and this new wall charger promises to be of the same great quality I have come to know and expect from CHOETECH. Highly recommended!
Picked up a Choetech Quick Charge 3.0 charger and compared w/ the 2.0. It's super convenient to charge 0-100 in no time. Quick Charge as most of you know, allow for high levels of current to flow to the battery, in an attempt to maximize its charging efficiency. Quick Charging also tend to charge their batteries at higher voltages, allowing for a higher rate of power transfer through commonly found cables. The downside to all this is that it can limit the life of your battery since they get hotter. This is the BIG selling point between 3.0 and 2.0, not necessarily charge times but battery life over the long haul. Different batteries require different charging voltages and QC 2.0 supported four modes at varying power levels, 5 volts/2amps, 9V/2A, 12V/1.67A, and a 20 volt option. QC 3.0’s uses voltage between 3.2V and 20V at 200mV increments, allowing for a wider selection of voltages.
This is useful as it reduces the amount of energy wasted during charging. Wasted energy is a big deal because all that extra power would be lost as heat. See, that's what makes the battery run warm thereby limiting the longevity of the battery's life. By having the wider range of voltage you waste less power and that results in less heat, which for you means longer battery life a year from now.
When I tried this with the Note 5, I didn't notice a significant increase in charging time but I did notice less warmth on the back of the phone. Does that prove it's working? I'm not sure but if the option exists, I'd rather try to extend my battery life if possible.

I just check Qualcomm official website. Now only Anker and Tronsmart are certificated by Qualcomm (Quick Charge 3.0) among the above brands. https://www.qualcomm.com/documents/quick-charge-device-list More and more accessories brands will release quick charge 3.0 products in 2016.
I reviewed the Tronsmart QC 3.0 you have linked in the op. It's a quality peice and even charging my QC 2.0 LG V10, it's a lot faster than the oem charger.

Hi Everyone,
Just got this charger for my Note 5 ( and soon to own nexus 6P) and I love it! Its awesome to have an additional fast charge with me at work and at home. Now that I have the Note 5 and there is no removable battery I am always plugging in so having an extra Quick Charge at work is great! One of my biggest fears after reading these forums for so many years has been battery management and using the correct plug with each device that I own and with this being Qualcomm 3.0 but reversible to Quick charge 2.0 I Love it, I just carry one plug now (actually I just leave it at the office) and use it for multiple devices! I know you all know that Choetech makes a great product as I have referenced this forum in most of my decision making, and have since purchased many items form the company including the Fast Charge Qi Wireless Charging pad ( I did not get the additional quick charge cable option as I just use my Note 5 plug) but this Charger works great with the Qi Fast Charge Wireless Pad as well if you are in the market for one and if you buy them separately it is not that much more money, to me it was definitely worth it!
With that being said, your forums have helped me for many many years and I just joined and starting writing, so please feel free to let me know if I can answer any questions about this product or any product that I may have. I really love these forums, and I am very happy to be a part of them!

ChoeTech 3.0 Quick Charger
I had the opportunity to review the ChoeTech Quick Charge 3.0 wall charger and I have to say that I am really impressed with the upgrade from the 2.0. I’ve been using the 2.0 for about two months now and I LOVE the rate at which it charges. I would have to say that the most impressive thing about the Quick Charge 3.0 is that I get to 50% battery at bout 7-10 minutes faster than I do on the 2.0! I used to only get to about 35-40% after a 30 minute charge but with the 3.0 I am hitting nearly 50% in 35 or so minutes! Needless to say, I have been very impressed. Another feature that I’ve kind of been raving about is the fact that the USB cable can be entered into the charger block UPSIDE DOWN! I can’t tell you how often I have to fumble around in the dark before bed trying to get the cable back into the charging block (and we all know we put it in the wrong way first EVERY time) but now I just put it in no matter the direction and it just works. Not to mention, the charger comes with a USB-C cable and while I don’t have a phone that requires one, I am glad to have one as I suspect I will one day soon. I truly couldn’t ask for more! Great product, works perfectly. I’ve become a real fan of the ChoeTech products and look forward to seeing what other awesome things they come out with soon!

I have bought a new Huawei Mate 20 Pro wanted one as soon as they can out. I have put mine in a book type case I find it easier to handle, I HAVE A QUESTION. Will the phone charge through the case OR would I have to keep taking the phone out of the case. Any help would be great appreciated, thank you all for your help and time.

Wireless charging works through almost all cases so you should be fine.
Using my "Anker" wireless charger (here) and my "huawei smart view flip cover" (here) it charges no problem with case on. even with the case open flipped around to the back of the phone it still charges fine.
I guess it depends on how thick the case is or how good the charger is

Thank you tweedie for your reply, I see the charger is a 10w charger, you are the only person to come back with positive feed back, my case is similar idea as yours, if you look on eBay brown/tan for a Huawei mate 20 pro, I'm thinking a 10-15w charger would be better than a cheaper low wattage charger.

If you want 15W charging, I woudn't choose anything different than Huawei's original charger. Not 100% sure, but I think generic 15W Qi isn't supported, the phone seems to trigger a lower wattage. Huawei is quite vague on this, it just states "you can charge at 15W using our SuperCharge technology, but Qi is supported as well", but doesn't state wether you can expect full speed if you go the Qi way. I got 2 supposedly 15W generic chargers and they were MUCH slower than the Huawei's ones I got after (and the phone was getting hotter still).

Thank you tweedie for your reply, I see the charger is a 10w charger, you are the only person to come back with positive feed back, my case is similar idea as yours, if you look on eBay brown/tan for a Huawei mate 20 pro, I'm thinking a 10-15w charger would be better than a cheaper low wattage charger.

Yeah I only got a 10w charger as the original Huawei's charger last time I looked was 3x the price and wanted a desktop version rather then something flat. Wasn't too bothered about the time difference in charging as battery life are pretty awesome anyway! Maybe when the price comes down, then I'll get one. I do see the "green bubbling up" fancy animation, and charges up pretty quick. The Anker wireless charger I think is a good brand to some other cheapo Chinese brands.
As for the case, if its leather, I am assuming its pretty thick, but with my non scientific measurements, my charger handled at least 40 pages of glossy book/magazine paper that it can handle wireless charging! Not sure if further away from charger would make it less wattage getting through to the phone!

It's not amazingly accurate but you could use something like Ampere - it will give the current charging amps & voltage. Watts = amps x volts so you can get an approximation.

Usually if I'm looking for something I Google it. Type exactly what your looking for, you can always add the best, guaranteed it usually throws something up.

well, not sure if I will be disappointed, but it came up at 820mA and I see 4.327V, so based on that calculation it came up as 3548. I doubt thats 35W, so I am gonna guess that is 3.5W? not sure where the advertised 10W charger comes in!

Yeah, 3.5W (although Ampere don't claim to be amazingly accurate)
There can be all sorts of issues with adapter compatibility. Did it come with an adapter? If not, does the adapter you're using support qc3.0?
I've got a supposed 15W charger so will test it when I get home.
well, I don't think I can recommend Anker wireless charger (here) - suppose to be 10W, but after using that Ampere program, it tells me that at most with the original Huawei adapter (though with a good quality usbB cable as Anker wireless isn't usbc), I got 910mA x 3.93v = 3.5w (with or without case - no difference). Quite poor compared to charging via the original adapter and usbC cable which gave me 3450mA x 4.0518v = 13.9w. I didn't expect wireless charging to match the same power as via wired, but did not expect that big a difference.
Pretty sure you are calculating it wrong. Ampere shows current charging amps in mA and the voltage of the battery - this will go up with the percentage of the battery.
I don't think there is any app that shows what is the voltage of the charge, just amperage.
Saying that, I can see that my both wireless chargers charge with similar current averaging 800mAh and max is around 1mAh. At the moment I have one connected to qc 3.0 18w adapter.
Connecting phone to the same adapter using usb c cable gives me...similar values, surprisingly.
iPad chargers (10W/12W) are very similar to qc3.0 charger, and Anker 6 port charger (allegedly 5v/2.4a max per port) is probably the "fastest" of the lot.
Connecting phone to stock 40W charger with any usb c cable (tried few 'generic' 2m cables) give me results in around 4000 mA.
I'm not an expert in the field so I don't understand if this means that both wireless chargers are charging at around 10w or the adapter (Anker single usb-a port) can't charge the phone with full speed.

ah right, that kinda makes sense. I thought that Volt mentioned in the app Ampere was the Volt coming in as its charging and not realise that its actually the Volt of the remaining battery. Obviously, my calculation is completely wrong. thanks for pointing that out!

It arrived this morning, I placed my Huawei mate 20 pro with the case on it and hey presto it started charging straight away no prompting needed. So thank you again

I did the charge On the huawei wireless charger and it works perfect with the case on and it charges at roughly as quick, its a result

I'm currently struggling to find any information about where to buy a fast charger, since I bought the Neptune Blue version (12GB/256GB) and the only option was an EU charger, although I need a UK one. I know that we can use adaptors, but that's not a long term, optimal solution.

Exactly, it seems that Oppo haven't prepared to sell those chargers separately and the only places you can find is a 3rd party from China.
Although I'm interested if anyone has tested maybe a OnePlus Warp/Dash charger.

Here I am! Proud owner of a OP3 since 3 days ago, switched to a 12/256 x2 pro.
I just tried, as per your request, to use the Dash op charger and in the home, I get the VOOC logo while in charge. Not that bad, but definitely not a superVOOC. It charges the phone quicker than any ordinary, yet overvolted charger, but not comparable to superVOOC.

How many seconds of charge per percent of battery ?
I think mine is not as quick as before, since a power outtage at home, very strange..
Almost 40 seconds per percent, so definitely not the 30min for the 100% announced.
Are you supposed to be able to see the Super VOOC logo while charging full speed ?

Yup. Just made a comparison among the dash charger and the original one.
Realme charger (SUPERVOOC) : max throughput of 1850 mA @ 4,25V
Dash charger (VOOC) : max 1470 mA @ 4,23V.

Yes, sure. In the lock screen, with the charge percentage which fastly increases by step of 0.01.
I read about your power shortage and IMHO it could be a cause of damage to these chargers. Try to do as follows: install Ampere and compare your results with mine ( just posted a feedback to another user). I set the phone in charge while the phone is already @80% of charge remaining. Don't know if in case of discharged battery the charger pulls additional current in the first minutes, I'll try this out.
I don't think Ampere gives proper readings for Dash/VOOC. You're recommended to use the engineer menu (usually *#808#) but that doesn't appear to work on the Realme X2 pro (CN version).

Note: Tested verdict. Any fast Supercharge tech will surely generate some heat and surely demands a battery change after 2-3 years depending on use. My 3 years+ old Oneplus 3 just had to change Battery. So I guess with 50w for Realme, its battery will run buttery smooth for max 2 years and upto 3 year with minimal use. Hope I answered upto your expectation.

Will surely work. My Mi Powerbank 10000mah 2i normally delivers 5v,2A. But will charge slowly, mine takes almost 1hr 28 mins from 12%. It surely extends battery life but is pretty slow. If u can wait that long, you can charge

I bought the 50w Chinese oppo one from eBay but it doesn't give 50w to the realme. Haven't measured the charge but it's noticeably slower
Maybe try the original cable with it.
