Connectivity issues (Data and WiFi) - Honor 8X Questions & Answers

Anyone else having problems with either data or wifi connectivity I swear I have to reset my networks setting at least 20 times per day I'm starting to think my phone is faulty? Sometimes even after I reset my setting it still doesn't work so I have to reset again and if that doesn't work I have to turn off then on. I get it occasionally where things happen and just needs a reset but I'm at the point where I'm reseting every time I need to use the internet and is driving me bonkers.

Sprint Touch Pro data connection issues

I've owned a Touch Pro for a few months now and overall it's a good device. It has its quirks, but then again what phone doesn't? There is one problem in particular, however, that I can't seem to figure out. I've searched up and down in XDA Forums, and on Google, and I just can't find out a fix for my data connection always turning on for no reason. I have all my e-mail accounts set to "manual send / recieve", the weather program set to "update weather manually", and as far as I know there are no other programs on my phone that have access to the internet without my permission.
The problem I have is sometimes I will wake my phone up from its sleep mode, and I will discover that the data connection is active and appearing to be transmitting. Also, EVERY time I restart my phone and it goes through the boot process, the data connection will re-activate even before TouchFLO 3D opens up on the today screen. It's really annoying, because I have no idea what's causing it to do this, or why it does it at random times, or whenever I reset my device.
Does anyone have any solutions to this problem? I hate having to manually go in periodically and make sure my data connection is set to "off", instead of having it stay that way when I set it.
So no help on this one then?
I don't have a solution but I can help by bumping your thread and saying I have the same problem on Verizon. I was at a friend's place all weekend, and he has wifi all over, so I turned off data and used his wifi instead. Well sure enough all weekend my data connection kept turning itself back on. It seemed to happen only when going into sleep mode. So I kept the phone plugged in so it would never totally "sleep". Wifi stayed connected with no data connection starting automatically. Annoying especially considering the 5 GB data limit on the PDA plan.
Well I'm glad I'm at least not alone on this one. It's weird too that even though your device is on a different carrier, it still does the same thing. I wonder if it's a hardware issue?
I know that someone has to have an answer for this...
go into pocket express and press menu then go to express settings then on the top left theres a pulldown press it and go into auto updates and turn it off.. pissed me off when i got the phone.. couldnt find a fix till i started going through all the programs to find the one doing it.. and it was the stupid Pocket Express
I have had my MDA Compact V for a few months now, and it's only recently that I've had the same problem. Each time I switch on, my data connection starts or alternatively if I loose signal then get it back then I see my data connection is on again. Thankfully I have the Solo 20 package with unlimited net usage (although you're are limited to 1Gb/month) but it drains my battery really badly.
I went through every possible setting and program to switch off location settings or auto downloads/updates and I still have the same problem, but I downloaded Data Controller v1.00 from Freewarepocketpc.net and I can toggle my data connection on or off as I please.
Heres what you need
Install below cab, then use the NODATA app, select what you want off, PHONE AS MODEM and DATA are your two options I believe... Your data will never come back on... until you re-enable it that is....
PS... THIS IS NOT MY CAB, THIS IS SOMETHING I FOUND WHEN TRYING TO ADDRESS THESAME PROBLEM YOU ARE HAVING. THIS CAB WAS DOWNLOADED FROM MoDaCo BUT I DONT HAVE THE LINK... ALL RESPECTS GO TO HIM... I AM JUST SHARING WHAT HAS WORKED FOR ME IN THE PAST...
Seems it's one or the other
What sucks is on my Sprint HTC touch pro 2 (cdma), I was having a problem where I couldn't answer calls all the time, but sometimes I could, and eventually found that it was always when the data connection was showing active is when I couldn't answer a call. But when that was happening, my data connection would turn back off after a few seconds when I was done using it. It was driving me crazy not being able to answer my calls and I finally found a post that let me correct that problem, it was changing the HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\SuspendResume value that fixed this problem... the value of this registry setting was originally "GPRS_bye_if_device_off". This setting made it so the data connection would turn off when not being used, but it apparently messes up cdma phones from being able to switch over to answer an incoming phone call if the data connection is active. I changed this registry entry to "#777" as the post said to do, and sure enough, that corrected the problem with being able to answer my calls if the data connection is active. I'm real happy to have that working now, but when I changed this setting, my data connection is now always showing active (white arrows showing in status) and even if I turn it off manually, it comes on by it's self way more often than the every 4 hours I have it set to check emails.
There is a registry setting called CacheTime under the same Settings key as the above mentioned registry entry that I changed, that when the "GPRS_bye_if_device_off" value is used, the CacheTime key value will indeed control how long the data connection stays on before automatically turning off. But When I change the Entry to "#777" which is necessary to allow me to answer calls when data is active, then changing the CacheTime value has no effect and the data connection stays on until you manually turn it off.
I'd like to find a way to turn the data connection off, while still not messing up me being able to answer calls when the data connection is active, and seems to me that if both of these things can be done separately with two different registry settings, that it must be possible to do both.... so if any of you tech wizards can find a way to do this, I'd love to see it!
Possible Fix?
Hey, I have noticed the same problem. It is annoying from a battery life aspect as well as a system slowdown when coming out of sleep. I could not find much of a workaround except one of the settings in TD3 Tools I installed. In the "Data Connection" tab you can yurn on an option that makes your "End" key also terminate an active data connections. So if you hit it after waking your phone you won't have the annoying slowdown with your Sense UI...

[Q] 3g hiccup?

I'm having some strange 3g hiccups lately. I'll elaborate.
sometimes while browsing etc the phone will hang on 3g connections (eg does not even resolve DNS). the data connection icon keeps cycling the 3g and H symbols; at each new symbol switch the upload and download arrows seem to 'do something' for some instants then they fail and start the cycle all over again. I don't even seem to find a way to resolve the issue as putting the phone in airplane mode for some time does not help, and neither disabling 3g networks for a couple minutes. I also tried a reboot which did not help. The only working solution seems to be patiently wait till it works again.
I would not swear on this but I think this issue started when I flashed stock 360. I am however 100% sure that this was not happening, say, a couple months ago.
I am not even sure there is a problem with the phone, there might as well be some problems with the carrier.
anyone experienced anything similar?

[Q] [pseudo-solved] Device occasionally loses Internet connection for WiFi & cellular

[Q] [pseudo-solved] Device occasionally loses Internet connection for WiFi & cellular
The Problem:
I recently upgraded to the Motorola Moto X Pure Edition and have got almost everything running smoothly except for one thing - every so often, (between 2 and 8 days) the device will completely lose its Internet connection for no apparent reason, displaying the little exclamation point next to either the WiFi or cellular signal strength indicators. It usually happens after transitioning between WiFi and cellular (leaving home, arriving home, etc.).
Once the device enters this state, no amount of toggling WiFi, data, or flight mode will allow the problem to be resolved. The device will simply refuse to cooperate with any type of Internet connection at all, even though it still has an IP address, as reported by the ifconfig command in the terminal. No addresses, local or otherwise, can be pinged.
Rebooting the device always brings it back. Clearing the cache and dalvik cache seems to make it last a bit longer, but this has yet to be confirmed.
Troubleshooting efforts and device configuration notes:
A web search turned up nothing at all, although two other people in the original thread on the Moto X Pure Edition Q&A forums revealed that I'm not the only one with the problem. My device is running the stock, Android M Rom, (rooted) but others have reported the same issue with a non-Motorola Android N ROM as well as on the stock un-rooted Rom.
This leads me to believe that the issue isn't Rom-specific, and may not even be device specific. With all this in mind, does anybody have any good tips for troubleshooting this? Any ideas for what could be causing it or how to fix it?
Thanks!
TL;DR? Device loses all Internet connectivity on all connections, usually after transitioning between Cellular & WiFi, on stock-rooted Rom, problem reported on stock and non-Motorola Roms as well. Software or settings conflict suspected.
Update: Hard reset; problem solved. No cause was ever uncovered. See post 7 for all the details.
Internet loss breakage Logcat
Here's the Logcat, if that helps. I tried getting a complete one, but had to cut it off after close to 45 minutes, so there still should be plenty there to go off of.
Any ideas?
Anybody? Any ideas at all? I'll even accept shots in the dark at this point. Made it a record-breaking <9 days, but the problem came back again, even with "Cellular data always active" switched off.
anything? anyone?
Ran into the issue again today, even having left WiFi manually turned off. Any ideas on this? I'll even take shots in the dark. Anything short of hard resetting and reinstalling apps & reinstating settings one-by-one.
Internet dropped out again...
Had the issue again today, but this time caught it "as-it-happens" (as I have only once before). This time, I woke the phone up and saw the exclamation point over the WiFi signal strength indicator, but was still able to use the LTE data connection. Resetting the cellular radio put a stop to that as well.
Any ideas at all? I'm taking complete and total shots in the dark at this point too.
Still losing Internet connection on WiFi, then cellular as well
Same deal again today. Any ideas at all? Anything I can do short of pulling the plug and hard resetting?
Hard reset; fixed
Well, I ultimately pulled the trigger and hard reset the device. The problem appears to have permanently vanished, but we will unfortunately never know its cause.

New WIFI Bug [Not Solved] [Need Help]

How the bug works:
So I can be connected to my wifi, surfing the web, on youtube or anything else. But all of a sudden my phone disconnects me from my wifi. Now, this in itself is quite frustrating as usually I'm in the middle of doing (please note though that it has also happened plentiful times whilst I haven't been using it too) something and it takes a few minutes to realise that it had happened. But unfortunately, this isn't the end of it. When I go to reconnect to my wifi I press it and nothing happens. Literally nothing. No animation, no sound and it never connects it just refuses to. So then the next logical solution is to turn off my wifi and turn it back on so it re-connects. And it works it connects to my wifi. But about 30 seconds later it will disconnect again. Sometimes though when it disconnects, it does state that an authentication error has occurred. But back to the bug. Then when pressing it nothing happens again. So I have to turn off my wifi and turn it back on usually 4-5 times before it finally stays connected.
This bug usually happens twice a day and is very frustrating, so again any help would be amazing!!
What I have tried:
- Turning off the device does not work. The bug is still present
- Using WPS to connect works sometimes but is very hit and miss
- setting my wifi to stay on whilst the device is sleeping
- wiping all network settings
- wiping all wifi settings back to default (in the router that is)
- Factory Resetting
Some other things to note:
This bug has not always been present. It has only started to occur within the past two months and I have had this device for 2 years now. I have not changed any wifi or device settings for it to happen. And it just started one day.
My dad's S6's wifi is completely dead.. I click the toggle switch and no networks show up.
Also tried clearing cache, resetting network settings, and even factory reset.
I think the WIFI antenna is dead/dying?
Just happened out of the blue as well..
Perhaps a root and new rom will fix?

Slow WiFi speeds

My wifi isn't working properly. When I restart my phone and test it I get a speed of 300/300 Mbit. After a while though the speeds decreases to about 4/60 Mbit. The only thing that brings it back up again is restarting my phone. I've tried:
- emptying the cache partition
- forgetting the network
- resetting the network settings
None of those helped.
Last thing I can thing of is a full factory reset.
I've noticed this after the Android 10 update, but I'm unsure if it happened before that. (Most things still work quite ok on a 4Mbit connection)
Does anyone recognise these issues, or know another thing I can try to fix it?
Mine still maxes out my internet connection at around 300Mbps...so no degradation after the update. Other problems, sure, but not Wi-Fi.

Maybe you are using power saving mode. It happens to me. When I use it the WiFi is slow. But when I turn it off. The WiFi becomes great. It evens takes over 90% of the majority bandwidth and even my friend who has an iPhone 11 cannot even connect to Google. And I have like 80 mbps ?. So yeah
