Hope to make this thread as a collection of reviews and Q&A for various screen protectors. Noticed several reviews for some before the device was even released. Hopefully this thread helps others and a way for you to share your experiences.
OMOTON 4-pack
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NXZP7PG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Pros:
Covers the whole display (left to right)
No halo or rainbow effect
Leaves enough gap for a case
CHEAP (includes 4)
Cons:
Peeling the dust remove sticker was a pain.
Doesn't cover class between camera and earpiece
Other thoughts:
the glass is quite thin. Less than .33mm which is the norm. Probably will make it not so durable when drops and possibly easier to crack. But nice as it doesnt feel sharp or large on the display
This glass is a precise fit, so be careful on installation. Good thing if you mess up, there are additional ones. .5mm left/right or up/down probably will cause a halo affect for that edge

Yocktec Screen Protector
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QTZ9XPP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Comments: I gave this a 3 star rating. It's acceptable as a "until I get a better one" protector but not one I'd consider for long term.
Pro's:
Feels like decent quality glass for the price (strength, clarity, etc.)
Simple installation
Well gapped for a case
Con's:
Bad edge lifting/poor contact
Not particularly cheap given it's just one in the box
Somewhat difficult to line up given how the glass it cut for the front camera/speaker.
UniqueMe Screen Protector (3 Pack)
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QKCFS9N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Comments: I opened this and immediately filed for a return. I laid one of the 3 pack onto my screen and it was too large to work with most cases, and part of the edge was going to go over the slight curve on the edge of the glass. Not worth even trying.
Pro's:
N/A, didn't even try
Con's:
Too large, will almost certainly lift off at the edges
L K Screen Protector (3 Pack)
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NM4MRFQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Comments: What's currently on my phone. First to install had two large air bubbles because I just kind of threw it on there as I'm used to doing with most tempered glass protectors, second I went slower and it's good. There is some slight lifting on the edge in a couple of spots, and small air bubbles in the regions that the protector covers but aren't part of the actual visible screen. I'm going to stick with this until some of the bigger name brands start releasing stuff, namely second versions as the first go is rarely great, and keep the third of the pack as a backup.
Pro's:
Cheap
Quality is good. Feels strong, clarity is nice, etc.
Good coverage of screen while still allowing enough of a gap for cases to fit.
Con's:
Installation isn't as easy as I'm used to. I don't think it's a "designed to be installed how we show" you kind of thing, just a bit finicky. (Note: Not actually difficult, just go slow and follow the video they link you to in the box)
Related to above, I feel like their instructions will inevitably waste at least one protector for most users as there will be dust and/or air bubbles collected this way. You're not likely going to get it perfect on your first go. (Note: Which is why a lot of people will read this and think, "well that's why they include 3, dummy" which is a fair point, but I wanted to bring it up)
Very slight edge lift
Glass it cut so between camera and speaker there is a large exposed area (Note: doesn't bother me personally, but I know some people don't like that)
Supershieldz 3 Pack
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Q1KCT3M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Comments: Didn't install. Looks very similar to the L K tempered glass in size, but based on Caebron's comments below I figure it's not removing the L K I have on to try.
Space held for Supershieldz commentary
I've got a 3 Pack of these coming in the mail tomorrow. I know a lot of people like Supershieldz but I haven't liked a single one I've gotten. I got them mostly to see if I just got bad ones in the past or if everyone's just crazy. Unlikely to install it given that the L K's nice, but I'll comment on them.

Never bought this brand before but it worked perfectly on the first one. The 3a XL's display seems to be much flatter than the 2xl and 3xl which were a nightmare with putting on glass screen protectors. So happy to not have one with a black border around it again!! :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::good::good:

I just installed these and will be returning them to Amazon for a refund. The pack includes two shield, and while I was able to work out any trapped airbubbles by pushing them towards the edge of the screen, and any remaining small bubbles disappeared over night, they always leave an airbubble at one or more of the edges. It looks as if you could slide a fingernail underneath - which you can't so it's just this long elongated airbubble that makes it look as if it isn't sticking at the edge of the screen.
Ordered myself a Zagg this time - I will report back on how it works.
I also used the Omotion 4 pack,,,it covers about the same as most and fingerprints are not as noticeable as they are on some others.
3 pack I picked up. super smooth bonded pretty well. Thick so should be decent protection. though it barely covers left and right of actual screen area. not sure how much wider it could go because of the curved edges of display.
amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07PVQ2LYB
I got the LK as an interim. They are certainly not bad, but I'd like something with a more complete coverage and also less sharp and thick edges. For my OnePlus 6 I had protectors from ******* that were decent...but not perfect either. I hope we'll get good one for the Pixel soon...
Also bought a Zagg. The guy at Best buy installed incorrectly. I ordered a replacement since it has a lifetime warranty. Will report back once I get the replacement installed properly.
Super surprised how well they installed, yes they have the black lining all around, full adhesive. No issues installing. Perfect alignment without a tray ( no screen leak on either sides). Good price and no loss of screen sensitivity.
Definitely recommended
Case friendly too
TekRoot 4 pack from ebay
Pros: perfect cut, resist smudges well, easy to apply, full glue, work well with a case, dirt cheap.
Cons; Halo around the border due to glue, maybe not enough of it, or bad quality.. other than that, for $2.25 a piece in package of 4 with shipping included, I can live with the borders not completely adhering to the screen.
I was happy with the CASEVASN screen protectors. Not sure why it's reviewed so poorly.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R4HC87D/
I don't like the notch on the OMOTON and prefer the cutouts. It has basically zero room for error, but I eventually got it lined up perfectly with the sticky tab hinges, and it has plenty of space on the sides for a case. No bubbles or distortion.
Got my replacement Zagg, the screen feels really nice and there are NO fingerprints at all. But there's no room for error on the install and the thing that's meant to help line it up sucks, way too easy for the protector to get underneath it. Because of the huge gaps on the sides, it's almost impossible to install properly. I'd stick with a full adhesive black boarder protector, definitely not worth $40.
Edit: after just a few minutes of use, the phone is covered with fingerprints. Again, would not recommend.

Looks like a ton of fake reviews on Amazon, doesn't give me the warm fuzzies. Have any pictures of it installed? I don't understand how it could have black boarder and be case friendly. I'm looking for something not case friendly, doesn't seem to be many options

Am with you on that, I just purchase and test, I don't trust most Amazon reviews cause like you mentioned plenty of fakeness, but yes it has the black borders and case friendly, once am home I will upload pics. My biggest surprise is the no screen leak on the sides, **** they did a good job with the size..
Just received my omoton 4 pack. It doesn't cover the whole screen as the OP reviewed. Must be a new batch as it was backordered for a few days.
Here are the pictures of the screen protector installed

Just ordered, looks great. Thanks for sharing!
Update: just received. Much easier to install than the Zagg due to the edges getting much closer to the edges of the phone. The cutouts are so precise you can line the whole thing up based on them. It might cut off a few pixels on the sides, but overall I'm very impressed. Fingerprint resistance seems to be MUCH better than the Zagg. Don't waste $40, buy this!
Update 2: have noticed this screen protector actually hurts screen quality pretty noticeably. Not sure why, but in some apps (especially apps with lots of white), it's VERY annoying
I also recommend the pulen. fit is perfect and I don't notice any issues with transparency or responsiveness.
I picked a 3-pack of LK, non-bordered, up. Took a little more time than I usually do lining everything up with the included guide stickers. Most other phones the cutouts are precise enough for me to eyeball, but since this one just has a huge cutout at the top for the camera all the way to the speaker, not so easy to do. Went on perfectly and so far haven't had any issues with the edges of the glass, and I don't have any blue discoloring at the edge. Protector is *just* the right size for the screen, so thinking the extra time taken to line things up served me well.
Can't take pictures because the only other device I have at the moment is a Huawei Mediapad M5 running PHH-treble and the camera doesn't work on it for whatever reason.

I got the cover today, went on the first time without airbubbles, but unfortunately I got a a hair stuck under the cover. I got it on right the second time, and I'm really loving tthe cover. Its great for reducing the finger prints and glare. It is very smooth and doesn't have the orange peel texture of a lot of other screen protectors, I wouldn't mind getting one for my Droid Charge.
I got mine last night. Brought it to work this morning and slapped it on.
All I can say is I hate air bubbles and this went on the first time without issue.
It is smooth, cut down on the glare, fingerprints less noticeable, and it looks fantastic...
I am absolutely impressed by this. I may have to find out how to get a spare.
Nice can't wait to receive mine and write up a review. Hopefully my stylus will be in at the same time so I can let you know how it works with the stylus.
Recieved mine this morning. The install went smoothly, very few air bubbles that were easy to work out. The tip for removing dirt/hair trapped under the cover was great. Cover does really reduce glare and fingerprints nicely. I like the texture of the cover, it is not as smooth as the TF glass, just right to let fingers glide without grabbing.
All in all I would buy this cover.
Thanks
Just received mine today, install was easy and air bubble was easier to get out compare to what i have used before. Pretty good cover i'd say.
Just got mine as well today, install went reasonably smooth. There are a couple imperfections, but those were my fault and not the products fault. It definitely reduces the glare, and I don't notice fingerprints at all. The camera hole lines up perfect and doesn't affect it at all. Definitely one of the better screen protectors out there. The tip for getting rid of dust worked great.
I will try and get a better picture later; camera didn't want to auto focus properly.
Thanks all for the reviews. I will be posting a BUY thread in the Marketplace section once I get a few more reviews. These will be retail units with complete packaging. So keep those reviews coming!
PS Anyone recommend a cheaper/faster shipping alternative? I'm shipping them via USPS First Class ~$1 to $2 depending on location.
PPS Looking forward to the video reviews
Just got mine. Went on as easy as any screen protector I have tried. No problem with bubbles, reduces prints and glare, also the fit is spot on, only negative comments would have to be that it's not as smooth as glass. I would recommend this product.
Got mine today. Slapped it on, luckily no hair\dust. Minor bubbles which im slowly seeing go away. Glare is minimal as well as the fingerprints. By far much better than the one i received with my case from amazon. Putting an affordable price on it should make you and lots of users happy. Id buy another if need be. Thanks
Thanks to cheinb once again for the free sceen protector your generousity is greatly appreciated.
Received my Screen protector this morning in the mail and was dissapointed to see that customs or the mailman (not sure who was to blame) had decided to fold the package in half.
Despite the crease i still managed to get it to flatten out enough to be useable so I proceeded to line up the edges and found it to be a perfect fit, nice!
The finish on the screen protector adds a matte effect to the display helping to reduce glare in a sunny/brightly lighted environment, welcomed as another added bonus no doubt. The smooth surfaced finish also seems to attract significantly less fingerprints and makes the scrolling and swiping flow better.
In summary i am more than pleased with the build quality and perfect fit of cheinb's asus transformer custom screen protector, now to see how it will stand the test of time and close encounters with my monsters i mean children.
thanks again cheinb good looking out!
I received mine at the beginning of the week, and had absolutely zero problems installing it. I've installed many screen protectors in the past, and this had to be the easiest one I've ever done. The instructions were simple, and I had barely any bubbles that were slowly dissipating.
The feel of the screen protector is great, just the right amount of slide and it really cuts down on the glare.
All in all, one of the better screen protectors I've used, in all categories (Installation, protection, glare reduction, surface feel).
The TF is uses corning gorilla glass, really no need for screen protectors, unless you plan on throwing your devices around. Check youtube for gorilla glass reviews.

hey Fliparsenal,
You were one of the first batch. Let me know if you still haven't received it in a few days.

Good!
I got mine yesterday and also applied it yesterda.
The protector is quite thick and sturdy. There was a small paper with sintructions as well.By design it allows for less air bubbles and I have only a few minor ones on the sides because of my in experience.
It has reduced the glare and made the screen less slippery. Fairly thick and I am sure it will last for a long time. The adhesive is also pretty strong. Would have been even greater with a slight blackish tint.
In short I recommend it.

Same here nothing yet.
Excellent
Received mine the other day, and have had a few days to use the protector.
The following is my opinion. Screen protectors aren't for everyone, but personally I'd rather make a $20 'oops' than have to live with scratches. I don't see the harm in a protector, and in my experience they reduce fingerprints and glare like mad... so, do what you want.
Anyway, here's what I think of this protector:
Installation:
Handy set of instructions. Protector went on without any problems. I used a credit card as suggested to get rid of the air bubbles, which worked out very very well. This installation method is much much easier (and safer?) than Zagg, and similar to other adhesive-type protectors.
Fit:
The protector is cut slightly smaller than the size of the glass. My alignment was spot on, so I don't have any air bubbles around the edges, but there is probably a 1mm (or less) gap around the outside of the protector, which in my opinion is the perfect fit. The cutout for the front camera also is perfect.
Feel:
The protector offers minor friction for fingers. Initially my hands were very clean from the application process, and therefore were not leaving any finger prints. I have since used the TF for a few days, and even let a baby with greasy hands play with it, and the fingerprints/smudges were a minimum. In summary: the protector feels VERY GOOD and appears to cut down fingerprints like crazy. For me, this protector is better than just the glass, and much much better than the protector I had before (I had some 3 for $10 ebay style protector.. it was garbage). This protector is on par with Zagg protectors and their lack of fingerprints (for those who have used them).
Look:
Its hard to tell that there's even a protector on except for a few pieces of dust. Glare is reduced, colors don't seem to be affected. The protector I had before this one was much worse for letting the true colors through. Everything was faded and coarsened (dunno how to best describe that, but it looked bad). All in all, this one looks as good as no protector, with added benefit of reduced glare and minimal fingerprints.
Overall:
Most of my protector experience is with Zagg protectors; on a Nook Color, galaxy s and iPhone. I didn't want to have to fight with putting a Zagg on for a screen the size of the TF, so I have been looking for alternatives. If this protector is competitively priced then imo its one of the better ones for the TF. I once tried a skinomi for a G-tablet, and that thing was a complete waste of money.
Pending price, would get another one of these.
Thanks OP for the protector.
Keep us updated on their availability (I'll probably get another one).
Another question: would it be difficult to make one to fit a G-Tablet?
Cheers.
Ok I've finally received mine. Unfortunately the the package must have gotten folded during transit and it now has creases. I'll make do and will post a tutorial next upcoming weekend. Hopefully the crease is not permanent.
Invisible defender. It's a Korean product based on the language the instructions are written in. It has wings that wrap and the edge to the back of the phone.
Someone on XDA did this with a Galaxy tablet screen protector on the Note 7. Same idea here with the sides.
Screen is smooth and no edge lifting, no air gaps, not $45 like the white Stone.
Video here https://youtu.be/5Oqm9CMETvw
Hmm interesting concept, might have to try this out eventually. I have a feeling thought that once you put a case on those bubbles on the edges might come back as seen in that video.
The corners, of course, don't wrap around, and therefore are susceptible to lifting.
Can confirm it's been a few hours. No bubbles. If you swap cases frequently it might be an issue. Essentially the edges are tucked in the back of the phone and then held in place by the case sides and back.
Not anti-shock protector after all :/
Have this being delivered today from Amazon. Looks promising

Looks cool. Two quick questions for you though. How does it feel... like smooth? Also I have a skin on the back that covers all the back part. Would this protector work work that? Like how far do the wings go back? Thanks.
I just installed this on my s8+. Best screen protector I have used on the phone so far. The wrap around not only keeps it from coming up on the edges, but also helps to apply by acting like handles. It sits shy of the corners to lessen the chance of the corners being lifted by a case. The feel is smooth, but it does have a slight orange peel finish. Went on perfectly and seems to hold very well. Does show fingerprints much more than a naked screen.
Looks promising, I just grabbed one from Amazon. Thanks for sharing.

Wings just go very slight. If you have a skin on the back I would tuck the wings under the skin. It might even help hold things in place even better. Screen is super smooth.
Got these off Amazon. I've had this screen protector on my phone for 2 days now, in my opinion I'm not really liking it. It's smooth as glass which I like, but the clarity is not clear as I would like it to be. I don't like that smudgy/ matte look. More noticeable on whites, like scrolling through YouTube or web browser. I came from the Spigen wet install film. It had more clarity but out of my 5 cases, I was only able to use one case because the other cases made the edges of the film peel. Installation was straight forward, no lint or bubbles. I'll stick with it for now till I find something better.

How come only 1 review?
I would not recommend this protector. I installed it and it looked great, no air bubbles at all. However, as soon as I put my Supcase on the phone all four corners started to peel away from the screen. A day later the top of the screen protector near the sensors and camera also peeled away to a point where they are actually laying on top of the case's lip. I bought it because it said "case friendly" but after my experience with the Supcase I can definitely say this is not the case... Having the corners wrap around as well and maybe decreasing the height would make it work a bit better in my opinion.

Are you sure you are using these screen protectors? Mine is shy of reaching the corners, and I actually have the supcase and it is fine. I have had no issues with lifting at all. The screen protector does not reach the corners so it never interferes with the case i use. Perhaps you installed it a bit too high or low on the screen.

That is the one I have, but from the US amazon store. They are new so I am guessing that is why there is only one review. The US store has more reviews.
Just ordered off Ringke's official eBay store. Won't be here until next week but I'll update with how it turns out. Thanks
I know one user has said they dont like the screen protector due to clarity lacking.
However can anyone else comment on the clarity of this screen protector?
I want to purchase this but dont want any degradation of image quality from my screen.
Any input is appreciated, thank you.
Just received and applied mine.
I prefer glass, always have. I've read review after review of the current generation of glass and haven't felt like any would please me. I'm a bit picky, so much so I often order more than 1 of any protector in case I miss a speck of dust or something goes wrong.
This wrap around one is actually pretty nice. Installation is pretty much all about alignment and cleanliness. I guess I've installed enough that I got both the first attempt. It went on easy enough, plenty of bubbles that I was able to work out easily enough. Wrapping the edges went smoothly and the finished result is fairly impressive.
The feel is glass like. It's not glass but it's not rubbery nor is there any apparent orange peel effect. It's smooth and responsive and I don't notice any issues with clarity. Honestly looking at the device I can't tell there's a protector on it until I look at the edges. The edges (top and bottom) are there, but you have to look for them. Time will tell if they collect dust or peel, however they stick well and the whole thing is thin enough you barely feel where protector ends.
I have the official thin case, it went on without issue. The wrap around is nice in there is no difference between no protect tion and this protector. Together I feel the device is protected from scratches, but not drops. The S8+ (and it's little brother) are notoriously prone to breaking if you believe drop tests, so I really didn't expect this setup to be all protecting.
As for the back where it wraps around, well it's pretty much as I described the top. You'll feel where the edge is but it would only be distracted ting to the most anal retentive types.
Overall I would give it a try. 2 for $11 isn't asking that much.

9+H harder than sapphire.... lol ok there.
It is simply amazing how trashy most of the oneplus 5 screen protectors are. Just ordered idlehands tempered screen protector (goo.gl/i9x6xS) and it didn't fit as it claimed to (even the preview pictures show this!). The blacklines on the protector are spaced enough and go cover up part of the display! Most others are apparently trashy and low rated.... Anyone have luck? Having removed my factory screen protector, my screen is now vulnerable!

Orzly is the best one I got out of 3 I tried. If the black lines on the side cover any if the screen at, it's very very minimal.

The lines fully enter the onto display, which immediately makes my display area a few (about 4-5 from my own judgement) millimeters smaller. This is unacceptable imo.

You should see the first glass protector I got, it wasn't even close with how much screen was lost.
But from what I've heard, even the official OnePlus glass protector covers the screen on the edges, doesn't it?

it's the same with any 2.5D screen. every single SP is gonna have a flaw of some kind.
Any non glass/film that you recommend?

Assuming your referring to the Orzly tgsp, I'm surprised with your comment that it covers part of display screen. In the review video from the post in this XDA section, the review shows the Orzly installed and the bootloader screen displayed. The bootloader's left side text gives zero room for a screen protector to overlap and the video, to my mind, shows zero overlap of the text. Are you positive you applied it as well as the reviewer?
I've order the Orzly and am waiting for it to arrive so hopefully I'll get the same results as the reviewer and a couple of the installers who had zero rainbow effect. If it doesn't work out I'll be going back to a film screen protector as I've used on my devices for many, many years. The Orzly is my first tempered glass protector.
I'd like to echo the calls above: any good experiences with any plastic SPs?
I was happy with the preapplied SP, but I was putting some stuff (nice beermats I was nicking from a pub!) in my pocket and I managed to lift it on the bottom right, and it got covered in pocket crud straightaway. So I replaced it with the official OP TGSP, which I'm sort of 80% happy with. I have two (v small) bits on the right edge where it won't stick to the screen, and the borders covering the display bother me, particularly when I can't see the scrollbar to show me where I am in a page. Fond memories of my Nexus 5 and its perfectly flat display, I only ever needed one TGSP and it fit like a dream!
So what I'm looking for is ideally a) a TGSP with no border, as close to edge-to-edge coverage as possible without unstuck bits at the edges, and full screen adhesive so no rainbow effect. Failing that, option b) a plastic SP with coverage as good as the original preapplied one. Any tips? Preferably ones available from Amazon UK.
Many thanks in advance.
For me plastic SP are way better in looks.
Also never took the original one from OP devices.
But what's the plastic SP offers to OP5?

Not completely sure about the Orzly, but the screen protector I got is very similiar. Do tell me if the black edges (lines) go onto the display or not. I have provided a link to the amazon store for it (do note I cannot post links due to this account being new)

Yeah, I got it direct from OP as part of a bundle when I got my 5. I already knew it covered part of the display though, it says so clearly on the product page on their website. The one advantage it has over third party ones is that it's fully adhesive, so no rainbow/dot effects.

Here is a link to the Orzly tgsp on YouTube. Starting at the 4:27 mark he boots into the Bootlader screen and checks for screen protector display overlap.
I'll surely post my impressions once I get the Orzly tgsp myself but the video would probably give you all the info you need. Also here's the Orzly's amazon link and the XDA thread for this product. There is differing opinions but on the whole it seems like the only reasonable tempered glass option for the OP5.
I'm willing to try Nillkin's one ... I saw there is already a review of it in this forum, but I think i'm still gonna try it as it has no black border ( hate that ).
But still, from all reviews so far, Orzly SP looks like the best SP currently
I've always had great results with Skinomi, both their TechGlass and TechSkin. They currently don't offer the TechGlass for the OnePlus 5, but I just finished applying their MatteSkin protector and it installed perfectly . If they ever do release the TechGlass for the 5, I'll be picking one up.
Edit: I emailed Skinomi Customer Support about a TG protector and received this reply.
"Hello,
Thank you for your interest in our products.

The Nilkon one sucks.
I received it yesterday, 1 side does not stick whatever you try, glass does not cover the entire screen so you get an horrible rainbow effect since the screen protector edge ends still on the display..

seems to be the only one that is good so far... even with its flaws (oil/rainbow stain, fingertips on the glass, ...)
Just on balance: Phone manufacturers (lots of them) have gone with this 2.5D curvature and obviously it's a tough thing to make the perfect fitting cover out of glass, so none of them are going to be perfect. What's the obsession anyway? It's just a protective cover. I've had the Orzley for a few weeks and it works great. Since mostly people with bad experiences are posting in forums (go on and check out any thread and see how many threads are saying "this works fine!"), you can't tell much from this thread except to only stack up bad experiences. It sure doesn't attract dust or prints.
Here's my experience: I applied it using the "steamed up bathroom to settle dust" technique, it took maybe 45 seconds to apply, went on perfectly. It is designed not to overlap any case, and only to "meet" the visible part of the screen. Yes it's close, but not as bad as the OP one. I've never heard a tap from the glass protector. I've never seen a color or rainbow on it, nor any dust underneath. The edges are sticky after 2 weeks. If you think about it, no adhesive that is removable is ever going to be able to hold down a piece of cut tempered glass in a way that doesn't create at least a bubble somewhere, not that it's a big deal. I don't think I've thought about the screen protector once until I read this thread after I applied it.
For some of us, the Orzly works fine. I'm going to take a wild swing and guess that I'm not the only person that this SP works for. I've used it with two cases and it works perfectly with both of them. One is a bumper like case from OP https://oneplus.net/oneplus-5-silicone-protective-case, and the other was one I got for nothing with the OP (A folio case?) . I'm fairly sure the Orzly will work with any case because it doesn't extend over the edges.
If you are one to believe every bad review will be your experience then just stay with the factory applied plastic. It works fine but you'll likely have to clean it pretty often since the fingerprint attraction is high. Other than that, it's fine. It might not help you if you drop it as well.
Iqshield. Good coverage, smooth feeling. I like their products
What's up guys?
Just thought I'd share some screen protectors I recently purchased for the XA1 Ultra from Amazon which are the Newzerol Full Coverage Tempered Glass!
Firstly let me just say these are fantastic quality and you really get what you get for your money and I see other screen protectors for this model getting some bad reviews and these for me were the only ones that stood out and at the time held 4 x 4* reviews but they didn't hold much info so I took the risk myself.
Cleaning and application was straight forward and the screen sensitivity still feels the same to me, I felt with the original XA screen sensitivity decreases A LOT with tempered glass protectors and this was a slight concern when I got these but this isn't the case fortunately but the only sad thing is my device is white and these are black and have borders down the sides.
I really can't mock these though as I stated they are fantastic value and are covering the WHOLE of my screen which is a bonus, I really recommend getting these being a long term Sony user wanting to constantly protect my beautiful device.
Grab these whilst you can, seriously!
Nice. I'm thinking of picking one of these types of protectors myself because of the full coverage. I've got 2 clear tempered glass ones coming in the mail that I will use in the mean time.
I do wonder why these curved ones need to have black borders around them. Same with the ones for the S8, they would look a lot better if they resembled normal, clear tempered glass ones. Perhaps it has to do with the manufacturing process.

From what I see on Amazon for availability and reviews these were the best option (in my opinion) but as said the borders are a slight killer and the screen does smudge. I must note this is completely flat too, I can't say it's curved that's for sure but so far I think it's great. It was a problem with my Xperia X not having full coverage but it's still immaculate after a year and a half almost. Get back to me on the ones you've got as I'm very interested in that bud!
Just recently received 2 Purple Flexi Gel case's from Amazon too, 1 by L&K which is slightly transparent and the other from J&D Tech which is almost a solid colour and they both fit very well. The L&K case covers the volume controls and the power button whereas the J&D one doesn't, so there's a slight difference on feel. I'd definitely recommend Nillkin Frosted case's too as I've got those for the Xperia X and XA and they're fantastic but do not cover the top and bottom of the device but I am considering one for the XA1 Ultra as they're available online right now ?

The Nillkin frosted shield in Black is actually the first case I got for my xa1 ultra. I've owned these Nillkin style hard cases for other xperia devices in the past and they are great. High Quality, very lightweight, minimal bulk, and the texture is hard to beat as far has hard shell cases go, feels great to the touch and the back material resists scuffs (plus, they always come with a free screen protector which is always nice). And yes, like you said, my only real gripe about it is it doesn't fully cover the top and bottom. Also, the case has started to wear a bit on all the corners - but it's very minor. I'll post photos if I get chance one of these days. I ordered it through Amazon Canada from a third party seller for around $13, but since it came directly from Amazons warehouse shipping was 2 days... otherwise, I would have ordered from Aliexpress where they are half the price, but I couldn't wait 6 weeks or more to get it.
I've got more cases coming from Aliexpress, including a TPU case by X-level. Aliexpress tends to have a tone of selection and most are very inexpensive, but you just have to be patient for it to arrive. Finding Xperia cases in Canada/the US is a little tougher in general, even on Amazon and retailers like BestBuy. Xperia phones just aren't popular here . In the U.K. / Europe, Sony seems to be infinitely more popular.

Wow that's a surprise hehehe, glad to hear your voice on the Nillkin cases and nice to see someone thinks the same as me but I managed to bag a discount code from Nillkin for 20% off so I'll definitely be using that this coming pay day tehehehe.
As for AliExpress, I can't say I've ever used it or thought to use it myself so firstly I'd like to thank you for mentioning that site but after reading this I had a nice little browse on there and boy can you find some great deals but I see what you mean about the shipping, jesus dude!
Fortunately, I managed to find some tempered glass lens protectors stating that they're pretty much all for the X range and selected my model and apparently they're going to take upto 30 days here in the UK for me which yes is quite long but we'll see if they turn up and do the job.
Any pics yet my man?

Yeah with Aliexpress it's hit or miss, sometimes the items arrive in the first half of the shipping estimate, other times, at the latter end or even beyond that . That being said, there are some steals and unique finds as far as cases go, you just have to do a little research and digging with what little information the sellers often provide. I find the photos and star ratings posted by users the most helpful.
I will order a full-coverage screen protector like yours if I end up hating the clear tempered ones I ordered (still waiting on them in the mail from Aliexpress, I got 2 x for around $2.50 USD). And I'll post pics after my items arrive. If I can live with the limited coverage, I'll end up leaving it on. If it bothers me too much, I'll may end up ordering a full-coverage one like yours, although I'm not completely sold on the two tone look as it won't blend as well as the clear ones when the screen is off, and as much as I like the Sony logo, the cutout isn't the prettiest thing, as I might have preferred to have it covered up entirely (even if my XA1 Ultra is black). Hard to win in either case.
The small detail of curving displays nowadays really does complicate everything! Lol.
So far I'm actually still using the out of the box screen protector, the sides being unprotected. Is a bit annoying but it's better then nothing. Does this phone have no otterbox style cases yet?

To be honest, good luck finding cases for the XA1 Ultra from the big-name case manufacturers (speck, otterbox, etc), at least for time being. I can't even find skins for this, as it's just not a popular device in the North American market for it to be worth it to manufacturer accessories for this. Which is why I have resorted to shopping online and overseas for cases for my Xperia devices in years past.
Amazon is always a good starting point but your options will be limited. As we've been discussing on this thread, Aliexpress has vast selection but shipping times are in the weeks and possibly months.

If you're referring to Aliexpress, I would recommend looking for cases that are branded, like Nillkin ; which is a well known Chinese case manufacturer. Usually these will come in retail packaging, which the sellers will advertise. User reviews/photos will also help. These will usually come in at a visibly higher price than other cases (usually more than $6 USD), but it is often an indicator of quality. Anything silicone, hard-shell, or TPU is relatively a safe bet, but if you're looking for something like a metal/aluminum shell, be weary and read reviews first... the quality of these is much harder to discern. And lastly, it will be impossible to estimate shipping times (shipping is almost always free and untracked). I live in Canada and it usually takes a month or more, so if you need something now, look elsewhere.
Also interesting to note, a lot of third party sellers on Amazon are actually just selling cases they have purchased in bulk from Aliexpress (other times, they are selling from China directly). So if it's not from a manufacturer you recognize (like Speck, Incipio, Belkin, etc.) it's likely a generic one that they've marked up in price or they'll charge you for shipping. Nothing wrong with either one, just know that the quality is going to be similar.
If you have further questions please let me know

Been living with one of the cheap, non-full coverage tempered glass protectors for about a week. Not satisfied at all, as it still doesn't stick to the sides well even being not-full-coverage, leaving an unsightly bubble effect at the edges (top and bottom were fine).
However, for the price I paid ($1.91 USD for 2 of them ), plus I received a refund from Aliexpress for $1 USD for my satisfaction. Sure, I technically lost a dollar on these, but I get to keep both of them, the spare of which I can keep as a backup.
I immediately ordered a full-coverage one (black bars at top and bottom) for under $5 USD, which I hope to arrive in the next week weeks.

Oh man that's not good to hear! I have had a slightly bad experience with these Newzerol ones I posted. The first one once applied properly after time it seemed to come loose within the middle, there was a strange rainbow looking bubble and dirt gets under the sides quite noticeably at the top left and right. The first one lasted a week or so until it come loose all of a sudden and since then I've had the 2nd one installed and I've had the same bubble in the middle, dirt getting under the sides of the protector and I accidentally dropped my phone rear facing flat with a case on and dislodged the protector. So I am now looking to buy something different maybe and look forward to your next result and best of luck ??

I believe the reasoning behind the black/white bars around the full-coverage protectors are because the adhesive is only applied to those areas, hence, why you protector might have shifted around and why dirt can get underneath. I’ve heard some of these also have touch responsive issues as a result of air getting between the display.
Been using the full-coverage tempered glass for a little bit... my thoughts:
+ Installation is actually a bit easier than the clear glass ones because of the bars at the top and the bottom, you have less of an area to worry about getting dust or fingerprints underneath when installing. However, the screen protector comes right up to the side edges, which is something you need to be very careful about. If you're off by even a hair (I got mine pretty good, but definitely not perfectly aligned) you will notice it, and you may have problems with tight fitting cases, bring me to my next point...
- the screen protector has side bezels as well. They are very thin, but these areas are where the adhesive is to my knowledge. Because of this, you will get some light shining through on the sides outside of the protector, which you will see in low light or at night. This is a little bit bothersome, but it's not visible when looking at the phone straight-on. From the sides, at a steep angle you can definitely see the light shining through (a case with a 'lip' definitely helps covering that up a bit). So once again, make sure you get the sides aligned evenly, or else you'll get more light shining through one side than the other.
- Because there are side bezels, this DOES cover up a slight portion of your screen. You won't notice this when looking at it, I only noticed this when some parts of text were ever so slightly cut-off on a website that didn't have proper side padding. I would say it cuts off a 1-1.5 millimetres on each side.
- The screen protector definitely increases reflectivity (see photo) and lessens screen contrast ever so slightly. This is something you will immediately notice primarily when the screen is off, as you'll get an almost mirror-like finish on the screen portion. This is emphasized even more so because the bezels are solidly coloured. Aesthetically, it's not the prettiest thing, but I think it's well worth it for the other benefits. This is because the display itself isn't really adhered to the protector, and is set back a little, also lessening viewing angles slightly. There is also a slight dot pattern on the screen portion that can see if you look at it up close, but it's almost impossible to spot unless you're actually looking for it. I was concerned with this at first when I bought it based on the seller's photos, but it's much less noticeable in person.
+ No problems with touch responsiveness.
+ No problems with proximity sensor.
- Cutout for the Sony logo is hideous. Would've preferred it blacked-out completely.
Even with all the negative points, I still highly recommend these, as this is leaps and bounds over the previous protector I had. The coverage you get is vastly superior to the clear-type tempered glass ones that don't provide full coverage. When your screen is off it's not the prettiest and definitely emphasizes the bezels way more, but it's better viewing and user-experience overall when actually using the device.
8/10

Thank you for your very detailed review and I will definitely consider getting one of those myself as just recently got the XMT Full Coverage Protectors and they were absolute trash I highly recommend to not buy them I have issued a refund as the adhesive was useless.
I will be getting one of these as recently due to that poor protection I've been using mine without a protector and must say as sketchy as it is it feels really good as I've always used protectors lol.
Update on the tempered glass.
So yeah, small dust particles definitely make there way under the edges of the screen portion over time. Reason being is the ‘dot matrix’ , as these are essentially flat pieces of glass stuck to an edge that is curved, and there is no adhesive under the screen portion, only on the top and bottom bezels. A minor annoyance, but it is something I can live with. Not necessarily a hit on the product, as this is a unanimous problem across many devices as phone manufacturers move toward curved displays. Making screen protectors that thin whilst being curved not realistic.
9to5google explains some of the downsides of these protectors including the reflective rainbow effect in sunlight. https://9to5google.com/2017/11/16/power-support-pixel-2-xl-google-store-in-stock/
nokia
Just brought these for Nokia 5 & Nokia 3. The one for the Nokia 3 has a WHITE border, this is for the copper finish phone I bought, so probably do white for other phones.
So I received the 3D tempered glass yesterday and applied it.
Here are my thoughts:
It ships pretty quickly (at least in India) and comes in a nice box for safety.
The tempered glass is really nice to touch and feels solid and smooth.
All tools provided are really nice quality. Although, I was expecting an alcohol swab as well which wasn't included in the box.
Applying the screen protector is.. HARD. Only proceed if you're really experienced with applying one. I've applied over 20 protectors by now (I know it's not a lot, but hey!) and they were nothing compared to this one.
Before applying the TGP, make sure you wash your hands, switch on as many lights as possible, switch off the fan/reduce the AC blow as you don't wanna mess up with lint on your phone.
The amount of bubbles that come on the screen are just crazy. Thankfully they'll provided us with a squeegee which helps nicking the bubbles down. Keep in mind, it is a crazy task. I took approx 20 mins to remove all the bubbles. Hell! they were difficult to squeeze out.
Pro tip: Clean your TPU case thoroughly before applying the TGP otherwise the amount of dust which comes along is crazy! Trust me, I regret not cleaning it. Caused me to nick a small part of my glass which looks ugly now, but I think I can live with that.
I'd say the TGP is not the 'perfect' fit when you're trying to install it with the TPU case on. Otherwise, it looks and feels good with the case and a perfect fit when everything is done.
It does have thick borders. Nothing that'll make you go crazy. It'll cover a tiny bit of screen from all sides. So, in Chrome, I can't see the scrollbar after applying the TGP. At the bottom of the screen, it's a bit more curved which can lead to approx 0.1mm of text being cut off. Nothing major.
If you guys have any other questions, fire away!
Does the phone feel more thick?

Kinda, yes. It is glass so obviously it's going to add little weight and thickness to the phone.
I can say one thing, it's a million times better than the factory screen protector.
I had a lot of grief applying mine, gave up in the end and binned it, I followed none of the instructions above!
Oh and I had a hangover...so £20 down the toilet.

In what ways is it a "million times" better?
I also put it on my phone---I've done lots and lots of these before, including whitestone dome. The oneplus was quite tricky. I still ended up with two bubbles along the right side where the black border is. Won't even squeeze out. That sucks. Otherwise no complaints. Don't even notice it's on. I especially like the smoothness of the edges. Makes offscreen/edge gestures nice---no sharp edge.
Overall, I'm pretty "meh" on it. I'd love a dome but they said "not doing it".
why are the borders black? I mean, if they were transparent they wouldn't block anything from the screen. For me, the black boarders are a high design fail.

The quality of the screen and the brightness! OMG. It's crazy bright even in the dimmest room (as compared to before)

Yeah the bubbles are annoying as hell. Even I'm left with one now (that came out of the blue as I was typing this message).

Not sure but it's mean to improve the 3D effect.
The only question I have for you is if you can apply mine for me? Haha I'm super OCD about the way my screen looks but I'm not very good at screen protectors...

Haha! I wish I could. I'll give you one advice though, don't apply the screen protector if you're super OCD about it. Reason? I got two bubbles pop in after 24 hours of applying. Granted that I just had to press on the screen again to make them disappear but the glue randomly comes off I guess? Also, it's **** hard to apply it for anyone.
I was surprised at how easy I found it to apply, maybe because I have messed up so many in the past!
I feels great, I love it. Tiny black border, but it doesn't bother me at all.
I just got mine in the mail and applied it as soon as I got home and washed my hands. Set everything out and set about putting it on. I've applied tons of protectors and skins. Tempered glass are my favorite to apply because of how easy they are. As others have said this one gave me a little tight, the glass is stiffer than anything I've worked with before. Or maybe it just feels that he way, but the free bubbles remaining absolutely required the squeegee tool to niggle them out. I've gotten them all out now and I love this protector. I dropped something on my standard protector like the week I bought the phone and it cracked the protector so I've been waiting for this to come.
It does add some thickness obviously, but it's not too bad. I have the fabric backed case and the sandstone case and it sits exactly at the edges of those cases.
As to the question of the black border, I'm trying to see if I can see anything missing and I can't tell yet. I've tried angling the phone and trying to look "under" the edges but couldn't see anything. I know with previous curved edge screens the border was there to hide the fact that it wouldn't fit exactly "flat" on the border. The black edge hid the halo ring, not sure if that's the case with this protector though since I've read they will be coming out with a full clear one, although I'm not a 100% on that source. I'll post pics shortly.
They may not be top quality all I had to take the photos with was my wife's tablet at the moment, but should give you an idea of what it looks like. Showed pics with both cases and naked.
i just got mine and finished applying it. It does take patience for sure, i had a ton of bubbles but patience, the microfiber, squeegee and fingernails and they are all worked out and it looks perfect. by far the best despite the small bit of loss from the black border.
My screen protector came like this. It seems like the adhesive was spread unevenly or something. I'm currently waiting for the response from OnePlus support.
I purchased and applied one as well (USA). It's by far the best one I've tried so far, but it's a downright awful screen protector as far as an OEM accessory goes.
Save your money for now, like most OnePlus stuff you'll need to wait a while for them to realize their mistakes and come out with a proper implementation.
The mounting process is by far one of the most difficult and involved I've ever experienced. The printed instructions are missing so much detail, but thankfully it directs you to a video. I followed the video as exactly as I could. The screen protector comes mounted to a very rigid "plate" of plastic and is firmly adhered to it. Removing it from this plate takes so much force that I was worried I would break the screen protector at times. Due to this it takes quite some time to remove it safely, which gave plenty of time for the adhesive side of the protector to be exposed to the open air for dust and debris to get in. The point of the usual flimsy plastic sheet on the adhesive side of most screen protectors is that you can fold it over and slowly peel it off as you apply the glass. OnePlus seems to have decided to re-engineer the application process for no apparent or advantageous reason, resulting in an inferior and flawed process.
Like OP said, there are so many bubbles to remove after the initial application. The black edges are there to conceal the fact that the protector cannot perfectly adhere to the curved edges of the device's screen. These imperfections bleed in air under the protector and hours after installing it I had to keep going back and working out bubbles.
For how much these things cost there are so many issues is laughable.
It comes packaged nicely...

It's probably due to how firmly glued the screen protector is to that plastic plate. The adhesive probably tore off while it was being removed.

I thought of that too. It wasn't an issue with the OnePlus 5T screen protector and sure as hell it shouldn't be an issue at all at that price. I'm hoping that OnePlus will step up in this situation.
I've seen gaps in the adhesive on other screen protectors before. The PureArc for my S9+ had it and that had a traditional backing

I bought one of these and some of the ones of Amazon the OEM was definitely disappointing the application process alone was horrendous..the ones on Amazon all have the same issue that the in display fp reader is almost non operable after a while...even though I have re-registered my print multiple times...for now I'm just gonna go screen protector less till better options become available.
