Hello,
I picked up a used 827V LTE Verizon tablet, but I'm having trouble enabling the mobile hotspot menu. Is this functional for anyone else? I inserted my valid VZW sim card, and LTE is working without issues. When I head to Connections in Oreo, I tap on Mobile Hotspot and Tethering, and the menus are grey. I try and turn Mobile Hospot on, and I get the following errror:
"Unable to use Mobile Hotspot and Tethering menu while Data saver is turned on."
Except that I'm pretty sure I haven't enabled data saver, and I actually don't even see a data saver toggle under the Mobile Data menu. I'm not using Power Saving mode. I'm 100% certain my sim card plan has hotspot, because if I use it in my Note 8, I have no issues enabling mobile hotspot.
Is this tablet just not capable of acting as a mobile hotspot for its LTE plan? Or am I just missing a setting somewhere?
Thanks!

i have an unlocked htc hero that i am using on at&t my data connection is fine on wi-fi but when i turn wi-fi off i cannot connect to the internet etc...
also my wireless controls are all set correctly, my mobile network option is ticked and im just not sure what the problem is thanks.
Hi, I was wondering if there's an app/service that turns wifi on automatically when my mobile network is not giving me a strong data connection (at least 3g). and of course turn it back off when mobile network is available again.
I want to do this because I have an unlimited data plan, and this will save battery and give me a more secure (private) connection.
Anyone knows of such app/service?
Thanks
My mother in law got an ATT Alpha and tried to connect to wifi. It will connect and immediately say wifi turned off. When you disable mobile data it enables wifi. That makes no sense... why would the phone favor mobile data.
How can we correct this? I have owned 5 Samsung devices and never seen this.

Beacuse the phone has a Smart network switch feature. You can turn off in the wifi menu.

We turned that off and it still didnt work. we then turned it back on and it didnt correct the issue either. Is a restart needed when you do or something?
Kinda odd that in a home with nearly no data signal from the provider (they use femtocell) that it would prefer the mobile data network over the wifi.
apparently a reboot was needed. thx!
I had root, loved the ability to have the hotspot with xposed, but hated the lag and battery life.
Tried to flash a ROM and got stuck in a bootloop.
Without access to a computer I had to visit a Bestbuy Samsung Experience kiosk to restore my S7.
Unable to root my device again I was immediately upset to find out I couldn't get hotspot again.
I relied on my hotspot because I have the newer unlimited plan with AT&T and DirecTv bundle.
I use my phone as my apartments entire wifi access relying it for my Chromecast, tablets and my game systems.
I felt stuck without it and almost called an internet provider but then I remembered the phone has wifi sharing.
So the Chromecast has an open Wifi signal if it's not connected to wifi itself.
I connect to it with my phone then immediately go to Mobile Hotspot turn it on and then go to the more options and select wifi sharing off.
Which then disconnects from wifi and the only uses the hotspot there for still having the ability to have hotspot I am able to connect the Chromecast to my hotspot and the other devices as well.
The only reason I really wanted/needed root was for this feature so it might help the next or it may have been brought up already.
I am also on the Sept PI2 update.
So as long as you have an open Wifi
(with or without internet access)
you can turn on Mobile Hotspot with wifi sharing on first
then after the Hotspot is activated
you can turn wifi sharing off to keep the Hotspot on.
Again sorry if this has been posted somewhere.
This no longer work with nougat update...
Flash the G930U firmware and hotspot works "right out of the box" with no fixes or tweaks. I can confirm it works as I flashed my G930A to the "U".

If I go into developer settings and switch off Mobile data always active (in an attempt to save a little power when the phone is on Wifi), I find the phone often doesn't enable data when I leave Wifi. I have to cycle airplane mode to make it do it.
Anyone else finding the same bug? Or even using this setting?
I've had dropped connection issues since day 1, with airplane mode being the only way to restore my connection. And this was with Mobile Data always active set to on.
Who is your Carrier??
Have you noticed similar issues even with mobile data always active?
When I go to building with no cellular and come back outside. The phone doesn't automatically reconnect to cellular, leaving me with no service. What a strange bug.

EE in the UK. Works fine almost all the time so far if I keep mobile data active.
Vodafone Romania, toggled the setting off in dev options as soon as I got the phone. Data switching works fine still.
Try going into the testing menu (dialer code *#*#4636#*#*), select phone information, select 3dot menu on top right corner, try switching around between Europe and automatic. I'm my case ,selecting Europe presented various weird connection issues , biggest of which was that the phone refused to connect to LTE unless I used "automatic".
