I wanted to ask the community to see if my experience is unique, or of other people have had this problem. I've been loving my G-Tab since I recieved it off woot, the only problem is that the device started to stop charging while plugged in a week or so ago. At first I could move the plug a little and the device would start charging again. After a few days of this, the unit stopped charging altogether, and I found out that the 1.7v receptor on the tablet had broken free from the circuit board. I called viewsonic G-Tablet support so that I could have my unit repaired or replaced. I called the first day, and gave them my info, they said they would call me back. I called 5 hours later, and got the same song and dance, no one called me back. I submitted an email to viewsonic to see if they could just ship me a box so I can send the tablet in for repair. I got call saying that I would be contacted the following buisiness day. The following day came and went, and I have not been contacted.
Has anyone else had to put up with this kind of bull**** from viewsonic before? Thier phone support has been god awful, and I find it completely unexcuasable that I have to wait 72 hours before I can even start the process of getting my tablet replaced/repaired.
Something happened over the weekend - the CS center completely changed and now they seem to be severely understaffed and, imo, not trained. This is US Merchants btw, not Viewsonic (that's public knowledge tmk, I asked the CS rep over the phone yesterday who they worked for and he told me).
That makes it all the more likely that any update tomorrow is 3588.

On their site May is for the Flash update--which most of us are already using anyway. If there's no real update today as promised yesterday, I'm beginning tothink they thought the 3991 was ready to roll--until all your testing proved otherwise. Now they are back to square one. If it took until mid April to update the flash January note, I don't hold out much hope.

I See that viewsonic gtablet support has a different # (310) 228-4000. I call this number and it is coming to some U.S Merchants. Not sure if this is the support for Viewsonic support.. Has anyone contacted this number and found out that this is the true number for viewsonic.

It's US Merchants. Even the old number was (I believe) US Merchants and not Viewsonic. But they must have made an organizational change in-house, last weekend. I think the current setup is much worse than what they had, at least so far.

Yea i agree Roebeet.. Is there a website where the Stock firmware is located and stuff just like the viewpad. I am thinking about bringing it back to stock and returning it but not sure if it should wait or not. What do you guys think.

Can you please lead me the right direction as to where i can get details to bring back to stock.. I have CWmod 8 so i would need to get rid of that as well so not sure which route is the best. If i can get the stock firmware and just load it via CWm or NVflash. Also if i do Nvflash and experience reboots how can i get out of that.
Thanks again.

Well, that's not entirely true. CM7 is already on the device so that statement is out the window to start with.
What it does mean though is that the device loses some functionality with the lost support. Video playback is pretty limited beyond Froyo 2.2.
You have to look at the device now. Does it do what you want? If your entire purchase was based not on what it does currently but what it 'may' be able to do then it does lose some value.
For the $284 I paid for the device it still does 99% of what I want it to do. There are less than 100 tablet oriented apps on the market anyway. I don't expect that number to grow exponentially either given the cost of entry for a Honeycomb device and the seriously limited audience. That means that almost all of the software that exists on the market will work on your device now and by the time the tablet software section gets more attractive you'd probably be looking for a new device anyway.
my 2c anyway.

You shouldn't need nvflash - but you do want to do a data wipe, regardless (clears out all your user data).

Thanks Roebeet,
I went to that post and i noticed that there were couple users having issues with the CWmod not able to correctly run it and removing one line worked for them. Will this remove CWmod as well or will i need NVflash for this.

I believe that cwm gets removed, at least via my own testing. Worst case, you can use nvflash to wipe it.

Oh boy, how to answer that?
Here's my honest answer, regardless of my own bias against Viewsonic at this particular moment. Your device probably cost you ~$300, I assume? You have the device in hand now, and it's still at least $100 less than the ASUS. If the device does what you need it to do, I would still consider keeping it.
The big pros on the ASUS, imo, is the IPS screen and the obvious "newness" giving it the edge from a support standpoint. Plus, you don't need to hack it for the Market. But it is $100 more and we don't know when it will be released in the States yet. And you don't get a USB port without the dock, keep in mind.
The pros on the GTAB is that you have it in your hand right now, there is a major development effort and mods galore, and it is easily hackable (the ASUS is still TBD). But there's issue of vendor support that we are all concerned about.
I don't like my GTAB because of the screen angles, and it's the reason why it ended up being relegated to a dev unit. But, besides that, I still think it's decent bang for the buck if it does what you need it to do. For me, I am probably getting an ASUS for the IPS screen, but again that's because I need good screen angles and the best screen within my price range.

Do you think i should hang on to my gtab or return it.. I am going to give a call to the Viewsonic number and find out what the case is as well about the update servers and if we are getting anymore updates. I have until 4/28 to return this unit to TD.
Ok then - i could get both. but then how do i convince my girlfriend to use the g-tablet and not the asus...

I did the CC to OEM successfully, just wondering if I did get an OTA prompt could I go ahead and accept it? Would it work as normal or fail/brick my phone? I didn't root, just bootloader unlocked for the conversion
yes, you can. Your phone is pretty much 99.9% (if not 100%) OEM.

This is probably correct, if they don't have a system in place that auto rejects ConsumerCellular/Wind IMEI numbers.
We won't really know for sure until there is an OTA.
I haven't checked today, but Huawei pulled the update. Couple quirks that they need to iron out.
Other apps not staying default, one I've had plus it appears to be eating the battery a bit more, but,
with the 4000 mAH battery, it's no big deal.

Yep, saw that on the Huawei site about a day or two after they released it. Mine should be in their system, but I don't think the update will be coming soon.
I'm starting to get the feeling, they released whatever they had, on the 30th, to satisfy their "in the first half of 2015" pledge, and will sort out the bugs later.
If a consumer is the type that wants cutting edge updates, go with an iphone or Nexus. Otherwise, it's up to the carriers (if ever) to release it or the device maker, if purchasing an unlocked non carrier branded device. The couple quirks on 5.1 aren't that big of a deal, it's stable otherwise.
If it hadn't been for Huawei releasing an easy way to go back to 4.3, I wouldn't have updated. I don't ever turn my device off, so the launcher not sticking, along with the 3rd party SMS program isn't that annoying. It appears it's sucking just a bit more juice, but, with that 4,000mAH battery, it's no big deal, even running in "normal" mode.
Havent seen this posted anywhere but for those still out there with interest here it goes. I have known for a month now but didnt want to say anything until it got closer. The VZW Z2 tablet was 1st and now the Z3v is up for OTA. I haven't gotten it yet on my own but been told to keep manually trying the pull. Pull will happen first.
I had a Z4v and curious to see how well the z3v performs in comparison with the last and final build for that hardware. Z4v only had 5.0.2 also.
Advanced calling is supposed to come with this OTA.
Lollipop 5.0.2
hVolte enabled
Band 4 and Band 13 enabled(Carrier Aggregation) + Band 2 support
Stagefright patch
OS fixes
Mad
Any news on the official roll out date? And about time Z3V owners get 5.0! Wooo!!!
There never was a Z4v. Verizon never released the phone.

First off, how did you get a z4v? Also, where did you hear the news about the update?
Yes there was a Z4v. It was retail ready and shipped but then recalled. Some resellers had the opportunity to not return all stock like this one http://m.ebay.com/itm/161860311364?_mwBanner=1
I had a pre-release z4v for testing with my company MDM. I work for a Verizon business customer who tests devices and software updates to make sure they work with our mobile device management. Z4v was weeks from releasing when the hold was placed. That's all I know before it was recalled and cancelled. It worked fine with a few bugs I reported. It was fully waterproof.
I got the word to keep an eye out for the z3v update coming so I can test and now I'm waiting. Since there is a lowe number in use at my company I didn't get early access to the software update like I did for the s6 5.1.1 and the S5 lollipop update.
I just like the Sony phones and can't wait to try the official update on a few phones I have here. I don't have any interest in the pre release leaked versions out now.
I still haven't gotten the update on my two phones yet but will keep trying the manual pull.
Hopefully vzw doesn't hold the update now that the v10 and turbo 2/maxx 2 is released same week.
Mad
Holy crap, that's amazing that the Z4v is actually on sale for once. But is the seller not worried about Verizon ensuing to get their phone back or something?
And geez... that's some 100% markup.
So a ftf ought to be on the Sony github, but there isn't one. So what is the build number?
Nothing new on Xperifirm
Perhaps just like the Xperia Z2 Tablet, the build number will end with 508 as the OTA.

I'm not rooted and was able to get this to work last night using the 9.18.6 flashtool version. It works and I did not lose any data or apps. The phone is running better than ever. Once installed the flashtool has a button to go to xperifirm to get the latest FTF if you haven't already downloaded it. Here is the link: https://userscloud.com/kb6tr3bcuecr
Can you confirm that that is the final build and not an RC?

I doubt this is the final build but was tired of waiting for Verizon. Now that this was successul for me I'll just pull any new release on Xperifirm via the flashtool and install it instead of waiting for an OTA. I'm not sure how Verizon even manages these since they are 1.5gb files.
i'm new to android etc. i don't want to get in too deep in regards to roms, unlocking the bootloader etc cause it's probably above my head. however, i have friends on lollipop and it looks a lot better. so if i were to use this flashtool for sony. basically i plug in my phone, download this xperifirm and then install? sounds like there was no need to root or anything? thanks for any tips.
Does this update allow you to use VoLTE? I upgraded to this phone from a Galaxy S4 and definitely like all of the features on the Z3V more except that I cannot talk and use data at the same time.

Most likely considering it would be the official update.
Great news.
Just chatted with Verizon: (abridged)
Thank you for contacting the Verizon Wireless Chat Team. One of our skilled Chat Representatives will be with you in a moment.
Your Chat Session ID is XXXXXXXXXX.
Hello, my name is XXXX. I’m happy to assist you with your question.
How can I help you today?
Visitor: Hello
Visitor: When is the Xperia Z3V receiving Lollipop?
XXXX: Good morning!
XXXX: We can definitely check and see when it may be getting that update.
XXXX: I am checking for you now if we have the information on when it will get the update.
XXXX: Thank you so much for your kind patience as I am researching this for you.
Visitor: Thank you.
XXXX: You are most welcome.
Visitor: I am reading insider reports that OTA 5.0.2 is on the way. Just wanting to confirm.
XXXX: Right now, we do have it confirmed that it will be coming to the devices, but we don't have a specific date to provide at the moment. Rolling out a new release takes a great deal of planning as it is important that Verizon Wireless deploy a fully tested release to avoid any customer impacting issues. Testing and approval requires input from many test organizations and stakeholders so we can ensure our reliability for our devices.

Your not telling the community anything new.
VZW petitioned the FCC for WI-fi calling because AT & T got granted it (Wi-fi calling), advanced calling 1.0 and lollipop not getting either yet is what has the community pissed at VZW.
Post about things coming with no concrete info just makes it worse.
Can someone post how to use xperifirm and flash tool with this phone
Just got an update.. Verizon Update pull should be published Nov 3rd.. it was postponed until after the weekend. I will continuously check and report back if I get it.

Checked twice so far today, nothing
Following my recent technical issues that were caused after updating my ZF3U to Android 7.0, I contacted ASUS and was told that "we have checked this for you and sent this info through for analysis. The Android N update has been stopped for OTA updates. So we would advise to downgrade the unit back to Android M for now. And do a factory reset for the unit".
This advice did not work and eventually my problems got worse (see other threads I posted about my problems). Few days a go my ZF3U completely died on me. Prior to this fingerprint recognition did not work, serial number was misreported in settings, no sound in calls was present even after downgrade to Android M. ASUS should not have released the Android 7.0 firmware in the first place pending proper testing on the ZF3U.
Eventually, I sent the phone to repair (through my insurance as ASUS insisted I had to send the device to Taiwan as it originated from there for the Asia market -POOR Service for an international company) and was advised that my ZF3U was beyond economical repair so a replacement was needed. I have now ordered another one as this phone is the only phone available that caters for my needs. I am really annoyed with ASUS, their service and the really poor software update they first rolled via OTA and then through their servers and then withdrew without any advice to those of us who have already installed it on our precious devices. They should never have released an incomplete, faulty firmware update. I hope those of you who have either downloaded the OTA or used the manual file do not experience the issues I had but if you do then good luck to you unless you have insurance.
Lets hope they learn to fix their phones properly with good after-sales support and I am still waiting for compensation from them following my recent complaint.
What's up with this update anyway ? I received it and my phone functions perfectly...
Why did Asus pull the update ? What's the official reason ? Is it a widespread problem ? Or just corner cases ?
Thanks.

Not sure why it was pulled. I got the manual update second hand from a user on this site as it was already pulled from ASUS before I could get it. I knew the risk and updated anyways. No issues at all. Phone works perfectly, maybe even better. My bootloader was unlocked and rooted just like AWFRONT was. Not sure why I didn't get the same issues they did, but I am 100% issue free on the 7.0 update.

Good point, but I think Wileyfox is going to provide us with something else (non-truecaller) so it's likely going to be a moot point soon.
In any case, I still use the nonnexus and I'm very satisfied.

Worked fine on mine. Moved on from wileyfox to nokia 6.1 so no need to mess about anymore.
I got the confirmation from someone who already received the update, that Truecaller is out. So far, so good. Now I'm waiting for my own update to drop
I've updated to 8.1 and Truecaller is no more.
Is Google Phone the new phone app for Wileyfox as I had an update for it after updating to 8.1?
